Wotice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear tlae Signatrarc of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be maae and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. %* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. At no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ali betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Eorms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. Information to- Police Office, West Bromwich, Staffordshire. — Bow- street, September 27. INFORMATIONS MURDER AID MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On 28th ultimo, the dead Body of a newly- born female infant was found in the wash of the sea on the South Beach, Great Yarmouth : it was wrapped in a piece of a new white calico chemise, and then tightly sewn up in a small brown towel or pudding cloth. At the coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' - was returned. Information to Chief Constable Ogden, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.— Bow- street, October' 2. FORGERY. Description of a man, who, on 12th instant, obtained from the Liverpool Union Bank, Liverpool, a Draft for ,£ 10, in favor of Robert Wall, and on the following day the same man presented the draft ( altered, supposed by some chemical process to £ 110) to a banking company in Manchester, and thereby defrauded them of £ 100 : from 50 to 55 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, well built, rather broad shoulders, and small whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes, silk hat, and wore a thick gold albert Guard, and is of respectable appear- ance. £ 5 reward will be paid for his apprehension and conviction. Absconded, charged on a warrant with obtaining Money by means of a forged order : JAMES O'BRIEN, 20 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, fair complexion, hair, and moustache, no whiskers, a- id mark on right side of neck ; dressed in black cutaway coat, brown trousers, and high black bat. M.' engraved on ] baek of outside case, plain white aial, black figures, gold : fingers, gold plated Chain attached. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen by means of burglary from Marlborough House, St. Alban's, during the night of 30th ultimo : six silver tea Spoons, marked ' P.'; two silver table Spoons, marked ' HP.'; a tea caddy silver Spoon, with cockleshell handle, marked ' S. P.'; a pair of sugar Tongs, marked ' H. P.'; a silver Pencil and Case, with glass in the end ; a 5s. Piece ; six old Coins, George III.; a brown silk Purse, with steel rings and tassels at ends; a brown cotton Umbrella, with brown handle and knob ; and 7| d. in Bronze Money. Whoever will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 10 reward. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on 29th ultimo, at Tollerton Water Mill : a black stuff Vest, and a pair of elastic- side Boots ( recovered) ; a pair of grey mixture tweed Trousers, darkest mixture in stripes, man's size, are still miss- ing. Two men of the following description are in custody at Easingwold, charged with the robbery : HEN. OSBORNE, sailor, 21 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fresh complexion, brown eyes and hair, and slight beard and moustache ; dressed in black coat, brown vest, grey mixture trousers, old lace- up boots, and cheesecutter cap, with strap over top. States he belongs to Tenby, Pembrokeshire. And WILLI AM HILL, 32 years of age, 5 feet 64- inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, brown hair, has a crown, flags, and cross swords tattooed on left arm, and anchor on back of left hand ; dressed in black coat and vest, grev plaid trousers, black billycock, and the stolen boots. States he belongs to Bradford. Informa- tion to Mr. Superintendent Hunter, Heworth, York, or to Inspector Ellerby, Easingwold, North Riding of Yorkshire.— — Bow- street, October 2. Absconded, charged with breaking and entering a dwelling- house at Framsden, on 19th ultimo : WILLIAM HARYEY, alias FRIZZLY, labourer, 36 years of age, 5 feet 10J inches high, blue eyes, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, fair complexion, bald head, scar behind one ear; dressed in dark shooting coat and vest, worsted corcl trousers, mended on the knees, fitting tight to the legs, light woollen cap with peak, heavy lace- up boots, with heel irons and toe plates, he has also with him a velvet sleeve vest and striped trousers. Information to Mr. Superintendent Creasey, Constabulary Office, Framlingham, or to Sergeant Payne, Police Station, Debenham, Suffolk.— Bow- street, October 2. Description of a man suspected of having committed the robberies at Lowthian Gill Cottage, and Thomas Close, Cum- berland, advertised in the Police Gazette of 31st July, under the head of burglary and housebreaking : he was harvesting for a few days in the neighbourhood of where the robberies were committed, and his employer allowed him to sleep in an outhouse ; he is of clean and tidy appearance, and is supposed to have been either in the atmy or navy ; he stated that lie was a native of Kendal, but he is supposed to be an Irishman: about 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, thin face, sallow complexion, dark hair, turning grey, face shaved, except a small tuft of hair on chin, and slender figure, tattooed on both arms with the figure of a woman about 4 inches in length, stars, anchors, chains, & c. ; dressed in a grey check tweed jacket, dark striped moleskin trousers, grey tweed double peaked cap, and an old pair of watertight boots, with upper leather much cut. Information to Mr. Superintendent Fowler, Penrith, Cumberland, or at the County Chief Con- stable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, October 2. During the night of 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Richard Hales, of Martley, was entered and a pair of ma, n's lace- up Boots ( light) stolen therein. The Boots are nearly new, plain tops, eight lace holes on each side, ver; short but broad across the tread, low heels, and one tow of sprigs round the soles. Information to Mr. Superintendent Hardman, Police Office, Great Witley, near Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bovj- street, September 27. Between 6 30 a. m. and 5- 30 p. m. on 23rd instant, the cottage of William King, Charlgrove, Oxon, labourer, was broken into, and stolen therein : a light- coloured cloth Coat, with brown bone buttons, outside pocket on each hip, one inside ditto left breast; a plum- coloured cloth Waistcoat, bone buttons; and a soft black sammy Hat, nearly new, stained inside of crown with tobacco juice. By a tramp, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dirty appearance, rather short hair, inclined to be sandy, little or no hair on face ; dressed in dark brown coat, old bedford cord trousers and waistcoat, very dirty shirt, strong lace- up shoes, a piece cut out of one or both the toes, and an old round- crowned black hard bowler hat, narrow brim, turned up at sidi ; supposed to be making his way to Birmingham. Stolen by means of house breaking on the Burton- road near Lichfield during the night of 22nd instant : two dark brown mixed tweed reefer Jackets, one pocket iiiside breast, two inside and two ontside flaps, blaok bone buttons, had in pockets a. light coloured silk Handkerchief, a cotton Ditto, a pocket Book William Sharratt written inside, a pruning Knife with two blades, a bunch of Keys, aad two Cigars, also a dark grey reefer Jacket, all lined with, black- alpaca and nearly new. WILLIAM SMIUH, alias GEORGE WILLIAMS ( supposed fictitious), 50 years of age, 5 feet 7J inches high, fresh complexion, medium make,. heavy face, deep dimple on chin, light coloured eyebrows,- large blue eyes, short thick crooked nose, light brown hair, turning grey, small whiskers, partly bald on top of head, hair on breast triangular shaped, new scar on back of right hand, small blemish back of right leg below hip, and large brown blemish front of right leg below'knee; dressed in black billycock hat, light., coloured print neckerchief, old black dust coat, grey check tweed shooting coat, dark brown striped vest, blue and black, narrow striped trousers, faded, heavy lace- up boots, gingham, shirt, and flannel undershirt. Stolen on 24th. instant, from a field at Cropthsrne : a cob Mare, 2 years old, recovered at Worcester, having been sold by auction by a man about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, slight moustache, no whiskers, and pimples on liis face ; dressed m dark or black sloth coat, brown speckled vest and trousers, white front or shirt with collar, no necktia, black hard bowler hat, very narrow brim, and was carrying a long dark overcoat and a cane. Carsweli, Neilstou, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, fair complexkm, brown hair, slight whiskers, upper front teeth irregular ; dressed in a loose grey suit, loose jacket and cap, short sea boots, hand sewed, without tackets. Speaks English, and Gaelic. WILLIAM STEVENSON, a labourer, resides at Middle Carswall, Neilston, about 31 years of age,. 5 feet 7 or 8. inchps high, ordinary build, dark complexion,, dark whiskers,, slight moustache; dressed in dark suit, short coat, heavy water- tight boots, laced. A reward of £ 25 has been offered for their apprehension. Information to Chief Constable- Mackay, Loc- kgilphead, Argyllshire.— Bow- street, September 27. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from the dwelling- honse'of Edward Tredericks, Sutton Bridge, £ 4 in Gold and three Ship Discharges ; the property of Paul Fredericks. By WILLIAM YOUNG, a. labourer and native of Sutton St. James ; he is abont 21 yrs. of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, large full face, little or no whiskers, swarthy complexion, and has a rolling gait; dressed in woo'ion cap with peak of sajne material and knob on oop, old black coat and vest, dark trousers with a sjit in one thigh on the outside, and strong lace boots. He states that he has been a sailor on a smack between Grimsby and Hull. Information to Mr. Superintendent Leaper, Spalding, or [ to. Also stolen from a navvy's hut at Rotbsrfield : a pilot Jacket, with pockets outside, and one inside left breast, about half worn ; a pair of navvy Boots, the left ikoot the lace holes are nearly worn through ; a black billycock Hat, with brown spots on it. By a man, about 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion, '& ift of hair on ehiu, slight moustache, round features, broad forehead ; supposed to be wearing the stolen jacket, as he- s< M his own the evening before, black billycock hat, - dark striped cloth trousers, with a patch on each knee, and old navvy ' boots. Description of JOHN EDWARDS, alias JACK TRENCE, alias LLEIDR LLONGAU, charged with stealing a Watch ( recovered) : " from 35 to 40 years of age. about 5 feet 6 inohes high, brown hair, turning grey, dark whiskers and moustache, shaves the upper part of his cheeks, lost a finger off left hand, and is a native of Penrhynden- draeth, Merionethshire. Information to Mr. Superintendent Protjero, Chief Constable's Office, Carnarvon.— Bow- street, October 4. Charged on a warrant with larceny : HUGH WHITBY, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion dressed in blue coloured coat and vest, and hard felt hat. Is well known in Frodshana, Cheshire, and St. Helen's, Lanca- shire. Information to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Police Office, Tattenhall, or to Sergeant Proudlove, Police Station, Farndon, Cheshire.— Bow- street, October 4. Stolen, a light grey tiveed Suit, half worn : a silver lever Watch, minute hand broken, leather Albert and Locket attached ; a large Knife ; and an old Russian leather Purse, containing £ 7 13s. 6d. in Gold and Silver. By a soldier of the 5th Regiment, who deserted from Chatham on 3rd inst., wearing the stolen clothes, which are much too small for him, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 10£ inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers, slight moustache, aud rather round shouldered. Absconded on 22nd ultimo, from No. 187, Tottenham Court Road, embezzling £ 12 10s. : a man 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, slight whiskers and mous- tache ; dressed dark coat and vest, grey trousers, black felt hat. Information to the Director Criminal Investigation Depart- ment, Great Scotland Yard, London.— Bow- street, October 2. Stolen from Fow Bridge, on 26th ultimo : a pair of strong lace- up Boots, men's size, nearly new, heel and toe plates, nailed with round headed nails except outside row which are large square- headed nails, left boot sprung out inside through having deformed ankle. Supposed by a tramping labourer, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh com- plexion, ginger whiskers, slender figure; dressed in dark cloth coat, dirty moleskin trousers and vest, grey cloth cap with peak, and strong lace- up boots. Information to Mr. Superintendent Spence, North Riding Constabulary Office, Pickering, or to Inspector Dove, County Police Office, Falsgrave, Scarborough.— Bow- street, October 2. Stolen from an iron safe in the Castle Inn, Oswald- twistle, between 12th and 28th ultimo, the monies of the Church and Oswaldtwistle Spinners Association : a £ 5 Bank of England Note, £ 16 10s. in Gold, and 18s. 3Jd. in Silver and Bronze. By the Secretary to the Association, who is 1 about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light brown or sandy whiskers on chin ; dressed in black and grey plaid suit, billycock hat, and elastic- side boots. Is a native of Oswaldtwistle, and a spinner by trade. Information to Mr. Superintendent Bryning, County Police Office, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 2. Absconded on 23rd instant, from Stoke- under- Ham, charged with larceny: THOMAS GUNDRY, about 30 yrs. of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion and hair, whiskers shaved off, has a soldierlike appearance, and belongs to the Army Reserve. He is accompanied by a female, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, curly grey hair, slightly pitted with small pox. Information to Mr. Superin- tendent Smith, Yeovil, Somersetshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 2. Description of FRANK HAWKINS, who absconded on 25th ultimo, from Wooburn, eharged with having embezzled £ 5 19s. : he is about 34 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, square built, fair complexion, very light sandy whiskers and moustache, round features, high shoulders, very short neck, carries his arms when walking quite straight and steady by his side, and walks very stiff; supposed dressed in old black frock or cutaway coat, very shabby, the frock coat with velvet collar, dark grey tweed vest and trousers; fitting tight to legs, high black hat, and lace- up boots. He is very fond of singing in public and beer- houses, and he kept a beer- honse about 5 years ago in Bank- street, Aldershot. Description of HUGH WHITBY, a labourer, of Frodsham, Cheshire, charged under warrant witli stealing a Wateh ( recovered) from Lower Kinnerton, Cheshire, on 5th instant: he is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, • fresh complexion; dressed in blue coloured coat and vest, hard felt hat; likely to be found working in brickyards or jnavvying.. Has a father living at Frodsham, Cheshire, and is well known at St. Helen's, Lancashire. Information to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Police Office, Tattenhall, or to Bergeant Proudson, Police Office, Farndon, Cheshire.— Bow- street, September 30. Stolen between 8 a. m. and 4 p. m. on 26th instant, from Talgarth, Breconshire, the property of Mr. David Price, farmer ; a dark blue cloth Coat, man's size, pockets outside, buttons covered with cloth of same material; a vest of same pattern, a pair of dark blue woollen cord Trousers, and white calico Shirt. By a man who worked on the farm since May last, and absconded on 26th instant, about 22 years of age, 6 feet 6 or 7 inches high, slender built, pale face, a few light colour hairs on face, quite bald on head, only a little light colour hair upon lower part of head, tattooed both aims, anchor on one, flag on the other ; dressed in an old blue cloth monkey jacket, dirty white slop, cord trousers, nearly new, a pair of heavy nailed boots, nearly new, ' old black jimcrow hat, with the rim cut all round, and turning up at the sides. Supposed to be a native of Gloucester, has been travelling the country with a circus, and cattle driving. Stolen on the morning of 24th instant, from a common lodging house at Llanidloes : an old verge Watch, No. 1907, steel chain attached. By a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, shaved off about the chin, narrow pale face ; dressed in dark jacket, pockets on flaps, dark vest, blue slop under coat, light or moleskin trousers, and cap with peak. Carries a bundle in a blue handkerchief. Information to the Chief Constable, Newtown, or to Sergeant Sibbald, Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, September 27.
