Absconded oa 15th instant, charged on a warrant with forgery : FRANK JOSEPH SHARPE, a clerk, late of • 21, Mark- lane, and 119, Bridge- road, Battersea, 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, blue « yes, and no hair on face ; dressed in dark Melton coat, tweed trousers, and round felt hat. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliams, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. G.— Bow- street July 19. Absconded, charged on warrant with forgery of several Bank Cheques : DAVID TEMPLE, alias R. C. FITZROY, from 40 to 45 years of age, about 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, ordinary make, black hair, swarthy complexion, clean shaved, sharp features ; dressed in a black frock coat, white vest, light trousers, and dress hat with black cloth band, gentlemanly appearance, spoke with English accent, and had two black travelling bags. And T. A. CUNDLE ( supposed fictitious), about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, stout make, black hair, dark complexion, round face, heavy black moustache only ; dressed in black frock coat, dark trousers and vest, and dress hat, spoke with English accent, and carried a brown silk umbrella. Absconded from Bruton, Somersetshire, charged on a • warrant with uttering a forged cheque, for the sum of .£ 19 10s., well knowing the same to be forged : WILLIAM DAY, of Bruton, fishmonger, 18 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark brown hair, clean face, no whiskers or moustache, slight built, turns his feet out when walking, especially the right, which causes a peculiar lounge of the body ; dressed in in light suit, and has a sort of skull cap with peak front and rear, fitting close to his head. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of 5th instant, the school at Kennington, Berks, was broken into and there were stolen therein, about 13s. in Silver Money, an old table Cloth, marked ' W. B.' and a pair of white Slippers, bound with red braid, two lads are suspected; about 18 years of age rather short; both dressed in dark clothes aDd wore caps with peaks ; they left Radley Station by train at 7" 45 a. m. for Birmingham Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hedger, Berks Constabulary, Abingdon.— Bow- street, July 12. Between 3 and 4 a. m., on 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of Edward Potter, Esq., Carlton, near Pontefract, was bur- glariously entered and stolen therein : a small gold Locket, engraved on both sides, attached to a plain gold Chain ; a pair of small gold dropper Ear- rings ; a gold Ring, with black enamel; a silver Locket, about 1 >- inch long, plain on one side and fern leaves engraved on the other, and had a silver Chain attached ; a small, silver Brooch, oblong shape ; a gold Ring, with 6 pearls and 6 turquoises ; a silver, Brooch with 6 leaves round shape ; a large silver Brooch with yellow stone in centre; a black jet Chain, with Locket and Cameo ; a silver Brooch with two plain twists ; some Pen Knives, Stamps and Coppers ; a Purse, containing 14s. ; and a plain gold plated Brooch, rather large. By a man about 19 years of age, from 5 feet 2 to 5 inches high, ruddy complexion, light hair, rather full face; dressed in a black jacket, light corduroy trousers, stiff felt hat, with round crown. £ 5 reward is offered on conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from a meadow at Wateringcress, between 8 p. m. on 15tli and 7 a. m. on 16th instant ; the property of Thomas Wood : a brown Mare, with black points, rising four years old, 15 hands 2 inches high, broom tail, slight scar on inside near foreleg, and both fone shoes off.. Found at Knowle, Bristol, on 30tli ultimo : a dark bay cart Mare, aged, in good condition, about 15£ hands high, black legs, long mane aud tail, white star on forehead, and white streak dowii nose. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Drewett, Somerset. Constabulary, Flax Bourton, Bristol, or to Sergeant Dewey, Knowle.— Bow- street, July 17. Description of CHARLES BRAZIER, charged on war- rant at Hastings, with stealing a Horse, Cart and'Harness on 8tli instant, ( since recovered) : about 24 years of age, rather short and stout, brownish whiskers, black hair; dressed ia black coat, black billy cock hat, black and white scarf round his neck, lightish trousers,, and heavy nailed boots, is a fisli- hawker, has resided with his father at Church St., Gravesend, and is well known in that neighbourhood. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent. Glenister, Hastings, Sussex. - Bow- street, July 17. Stolen during the night of 8th instant, from Rosedale Moors : a chesnut or grey pit Pony, supposed entire, about 12 hands high, ' F. C. C.' branded on near forefoot. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Spence, Pickering, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 15. During the night of 13th instant, a sheep was slaughtered in a field at Wedges Mills, near Cannock, belonging to Mr. John Chamberlain, farmer of Saredon, the fore quarters, head, skin, feet and entrails being left behind and the hind quarters carried away. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Con- stable Oswell, Forebridge, Staffordshire.— Bow^ streei, July 15. Stolen from a stable during the night af 12th ir. stant, from Woodcote; the property of David Jones : a black Mare, about 14 hands high, 5 years old, white star on fore- head, white hind off foot, cut tail, and newly shod. Supposed by a man about 25 jears of age, about 6 feet high, fresh com- plexien, dark brown hair, small whiskers ai 1 moustache, which are light and inclined to be sandy ; dressed in dark coat, Bedford cord trousers, hard felt hat, is a carpenter by trade, is straight and of smart appearance but rtither swellish, and recently worked in Wolverhampton. £ o reward will be given by Mr. Jones for such information as will lead to the apprehension aud conviction of the thief or thieves and recovery of the Mare. Stolen from a field on the night of 28tli ultimo, at Morton Oswestry : a dark brown horse Donkey ( cut), with a wart on the right hip ; the property of Elizabeth Williams. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gough, Oswesty, Salop, or to Police Constable Hopwood ( 101), Pant, Osweslry, Salop.— Bow- street, Ju'y 12. Stolen on 8th instant, from Hastings : an iron grey mare Cob, about 14 hands high, has recently foaled, - 1- 1- 1 marked on the left side of neck ; and a iigJ^ t spring Cart painted dark colour, maker Pankhurst, Westfiald, patent axles ; also a set of brass mounted single Harness. By a man 26 to 28 years of age, short and stout, brownish whiskers and dark hair ; dressed in an old black coat, black billycock hat, light cord trousers, heavy lace- up boots, and appeared to be drunk at the time. Stolen from a field at Chavel, during the night of 7th ins. : a bay Mare, half- bred, 8 years old, 15 hands 3 ins. high, black legs, white star on forehead, a recent cut mark on the off ribs about 1 inch long, having been thrown down, and a little hair rubbed off right hock ; the property of Mrs. Jones, innkeeper. Stolen during the night of 6th instant, from Bucknell. Salop ; the property of Mr. Teague : two Ponies, a Mare and her Colt, both dark brown, the Colt rising 2 years old, and the Mare is blind on right side. Stolen on 4th instant, from a field at rock Lane, Barnes : two fat roan Heifers, shorthorn bred, 4 years old, one has a swelling on near hind leg below the hock, weight about 90 stone.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, July 12. Stolen during the night of 7tli instant, from a field at Pavement Gates, near Shrewsbury : a bay Mare, 8 years old, 15 hands 3 inches high, white star on forehead, black legs, one eye swollen, hair rubbed off the back of the thigh of right hind leg, a cut on th ® ribs, offside, from a fall, she is cross- bred, between a hack and a cart horse, in good condition, the property of Mrs. Jones, of the ' Pavement Gates' inn. Supposed by two men with a horse and trap. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of WILLIAM JEFFCOAT, charged on warrant with stealing Money belonging to his employers, the Brighton Cooperative Stores ( Limited) : he is about 30 years 2 P O L I C E GAZETTE. July 19 of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches liij, affair complexion, thin features, small light moustache, genteel appearance, a clerk, and for- merly an auctioneer and house- agent. Information to be given to Chief Constable Barnden, Brighton.— Bow- street, July 19. Stolen from an outhouse at Scartho on 11th instant: a pair of man's Balmoral Boots, nearly new, goloshed, toecapped, patent leather fronts, brass eyelets, levant tops, steel heel plated, three rows of round headed nails in the centre, and one or two round the sides. Supposed by two tramping men, • who offered to sell a similar pair the same evening. One is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair, whiskers and complexion ; dressed in old dark clothes, black stiff billycock hat, and old elastic- side boots. The other about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair, and no • whiskers; dressed in blue Guernsey, blue trousers, chesse- cutter cap, and old boots, cut. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Jarvis, County Police Station, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, July 17. Stolen on the morning of 11th instant, at Lindfield, Sussex : a pair of Derby or rifle Boots, nearly new ; a pair of military side- spring Boots, nearly new, single sole and pegged; a shoemaker's Hammer, Rasp, Pincers, and various other tools, some recovered. By JAMES WILKINSON, shoe- maker, from 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion and hair, black whiskers and moustache, - walks upwright, two bullet wounds under cbin on right side, supposed branded on breast 1D. B. C.'; dressed in blue monkey jacket, blue trousers, round felt hat, and likely to be wearing the Derby boots. He lias been a soldier, and is very fond of drink, and will ask for work at shoemakers shops. Stolen on 12th instant, from 163, New- England, Peter- borough : a pair of man's spring- side Boots, nearly new, kid tops, plain leather fronts, sewn boots ; a soft black billycock Hat, nearly new ; and a check Front and Collar, with black Studs. By ARTHUR JAMES GOTOBED, a labourer, native of Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, about 18 yea> s of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; dressed in brown coat and trousers, has enlisted iu the Hunts Militia, and is supposed to have gone into Leicestershire, where he may get work in a coal mine. Stolen from the drawing room at Farnborough Park) Hants, between 2 p. m. • d 3 p. m. on 11th instant, the property of Captain Elliott, J. P.: An old fashioned silver Inkstand, standing on for supports, oval shaped, with two crystal ink bottks, silver tops, silver taper holder, grooved round edge to hold pens, crest on one side, a castellated turret surmounted by an olive branch. Underneath the grooved part was the following inscription-• Presented to Rev. S. H. Glasse, by his Parishioners, & c., or words^ to that effect A silver Vinaigrette ( box,) having an inner gilt grating. A silver lancet Case, with Lancet, the case chased with cross patterns. A small silver Figu; -. representing St. George and the Dragon, about an inch and half in diameter. A small silver Crown about an inch in diameter. A silver plated embossed Dish, oval, about 10 inches in length with repo< ts>,& work groups of figures. An oval silver- plated Dutch Tobacco Box, engraved with figures representing a drinking scene, also an inscrip- tion in Dutch. Three pair Spectacles, two pairs steel, the other in gold, and contained in case, with name on outside of case, ' B. Solamans, Albemarle Street.' Supposed by two men :. one 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 in. high, medium size, round and sunburnt face, dark brown moustache, dressed in dark brown trousers, dark brown or snuff coloured jacket, and vest of same material, hard black low crowned hat, walked limping on left foot ; the other about 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair and eye3, rather pale complexion, black moustache, wore a light coloured tweed suit, dark neckt:?, J- rcl black low crowned hat. Absconded on ICth instant, charged with stealing £ 50, belonging to Captain Spottiswood, of the 10th Hussars : Lance- corporal GERARD, of the 10th Hussars at Canterbury, 211 years of age, 5 feet 6 J inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair. Information to be given to Chief Constable Davies, Canterbury, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bo "- street, July 15. Absconded from Stoke- road, near Gosport, at 7,30 a. m. on 12th instant : an officer's servant, belonging to the Hants Artillery Militia, Gosport, 31 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, scar on left side of chest ; charged with stealing a suit of light tweed Clothes ; a Suit of black cloth ; a scarlet Waistcoat ; a brown Waterproof ; a pair of blnck check Trousers ; a black round- crowned Hat; three whi . Shirts ; and several shirt Collars; the property of his master Captain Turnbull; he was dressed in the light tweed suit, and black round- crowned hat when he absconded. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 60 : EDWARD FOWLER, a clerk, late of 29, Oriel- road, Homerton, 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, light brown curly hair, light whiskers, no moustache, slim built, stoops when walking, of gentlemanly appearance. Stolen on 8th instant, from the dwelling- house of John Adams, a pair of gold Ear- drops, flower pattern, and a small square gold Brooch, inlaid with hair. By an Irish woman who had been lodging there since 5th instant, 40 years of age, medium height, pale complexion, rather full face and stout; dressed in a brown dress, small black and white cheek cloak with hood, black bonnet -. viil. a hite flower round the front. Information to be given to the Head Constable, St. Albans, Herts.— Bow- street, July j2. Stolen on 7th instant, from the sea- shore at Beachy Head, Eastbourne : a brown cloth double- breasted Overcoat with black velvet collar, cloth buttons, pockets at sides, and one ditto outside of left breast, lined with black cloth, and had a led and white cotton Handkerchief in one of the pockets. Supposed by a man about 30 years of age, 5 ft. 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion and hail-, no whiskers or moustache, medium figure, and had the appearance of a tramping bricklayer; dressed in dark tweed jacket, corduroy trousers and vest, and blaok felt hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Newnham, East Sussex Constabulary, Eastbourne.— Bow- street, July 12. Charged with stealing a Coat and " Vest ( recovered) from a cottage at Copington, Somerset, on 8th instant: JOHN WILLIAMS, name supposed fictitious, stated he belonged to Exeter, and was seeking for work in a brickyard or a job at haymaking : he is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, sunburnt face, dark hair and whiskei s ; dressed in dark coat, moleskin trousers and vest, much worn. Was in com- pany with a short man, about 23 years of age, dark complexion, and had the appearance of a jockey. Carried a whip stock in his hand. Stated he was going to Wells, to see some friends. It is suspected they are making their way towards Bristol or Bath. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Jeffs, North Petherton, Somerset, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 12. Absconded from Worksop, charged with stealing from the" premises of James Burley,* at'Worksop, £ 17 10s.; a silver lever Watch ; and gold Guard, with a gold Pencil- case attached : JOHN WILSON, a tramping painter or groom, supposed a native of Leeds or Halifax, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, black hair, parted in centre of forehead, sallow complexion, and very small face ; dressed in dark blue cap, with peak behind and before, straps up sides and ties at top, light grey round cloth coat, spotted cloth vest, patched in front, Scotch tweed trousers, strap and buckle behind, strong laced boots, with large nails, has been newly toe- capped ; he has a brother keeping a lodging- house in Nottingham, and it is probable he may seek employment as helper in stables, or at swing boats at village feasts.
