FOR THis YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 1 8 / 7 - 3. 5 PORT OF CORK— continued. RATES OF PILOTAGE— continued. TABLE NO. 2. For every Vessel or Lighter, British and Foreign using a Pilot, only within the Limits in this Table, Coasters and Colliers included. VESSELS OR LIGHTERS. Queenstown to Passage. Under 80 tons ---.-. Amounting to 80 and not amounting to 120 tons 100 „ „ .. 220 „ Passage to Queens town. Add 2 s. Gd. for every 100 tons or surplus fraction ( not being less than 50 tons) of every 100 tons over 1,000 tons, up to and including 4,000 tons surplus above 1,000 tons as far as a vessel of 5,000 tons inclusive. The excess over 5,000 tons is not to be charged with pilotage rate. 1. The rates to and from Monkstown, and to and from the East Ferry, to be the same as those to Passage; and the rates to and from Ballinacurra to be the same as those to Cork. 2. Vessels or lighters proceeding to Blackrock, or higher up, to pay the same rates as to Cork, or lower down than Blackrock to pay the same rates as to Passage. 3. Pilot, in case of extra detention in the vessel or lighter, north of the southern limits of the port, to be paid 5 s. per day in addition to his pilotage. 4. Any pilot placing a vessel or lighter in any berth to which a harbour master objects, shall remove her without charge. 5. Pilot, before leaving the vessel, to moor her in accordance with these bye- laws. 6. No pilot allowed to make terms for himself; 5 s. in addition to his pilotage allowed for mooring. 7. Vessels or lighters having coast pilots on board, such pilots, unless furnished with license from the Commissioners, shall be superseded by pilots licensed by the Commissioners, at and within the limits hereby established. 8. No pilots allowed to go as coasting pilots. 9. Pilots to show the licenses on boarding vessels or lighters, and to be furnished with a copy of these Regulations, which they are directed to show the captain at the same time. 10. Any pilot declared by the Commissioners guilty of misconduct shall forfeit his license. 11. Any pilot passing a vessel or lighter with a signal for a pilot up, without going on board, to be suspended, and to deposit his license with the Commissioners. 12. When any vessel or lighter in charge of a pilot does or receives any damage, he shall not act as a pilot, and shall deposit his license with the Commissioners until the cas- e is investigated. 13. Every pilot shall have his pilot boat or vessel duly approved of, and licensed as required by the 345th section of " The Merchant Shipping Act, 1854," and distinguished by the characteristics set foith in the 340th section of same Act. 14. Every pilot shall procure, at his own expense, a jacket, waistcoat, and trousers, of good blue cloth, with gilt buttons, having the Cork arms in relief on the buttons, and of which there shall be 12 on the jacket and six on the waistcoat; and he shall always wear that dress when on duty or out of doors. And no pilot shali appear on duty or out of doors unless dressed according to the requirements of this bye- law. 15. Every pilot shall provide himself with a flag at least three feet long by at least two feet broad, coloured white, and with the number of his license shown thereon in black figures, at least eight inches high and three inches broad. On taking charge as pilot of any vessel or lighter, he shall cause his flag to be hoisted on board such vessel or lighter at the gaff end, under the ensign, and he shall keep his flag continually flying until he is discharged or until he is relieved by another pilot. This bye- law shall apply in the cases of all vessels or lighters outward or inward bound, at sea or in port, under weigh or at anchor, and under all circumstances, not only so long as the vessel or lighter is in charge of a pilot, but so long as the pilot remains on board. 16. Every pilot, on bringing a vessel or lighter into port, shall immediately on her arrival in port, and every pilot taking a vessel or lio: hter out of port,' shall, immediately on his return into port, deliver and leave at the office of the deputy harbour master at Queenstown in the form set forth at foot of this bye- law, a statement signed by him of the name and nation of such vessel or lighter her master's name, her tonnage, the nature of her cargo, to what port she belongs, and where bound ; and in the case of an arrival' the time of her arrival within the limits of the port, and in the case of a departure, the time of her quitting the limits of the port.
