INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of JAMES COMER, charged on warrant • witli feloniously wounding Patrick Lyons on 23rd instant, at Patrington Haven, Holderness : 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, broad shouldered, thin faced, dark complexion and eyes, black hair, cropped short and close at back of head, no whiskers or moustache, a few black hairs only about face, had a bad black eye received iu a fight, a native of Ireland, and a farm labourer ; dressed in an old discoloured pi ot jacket, cut short and raw edged, fustian trousers, tight in the legs, fustian waistcoat, dark woven Scotch cap with peak, lightish laced boots with toecapSj half,- worn, and woollen and calico shirts. He is supposed to be on tramp. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gibson, Sproatley, Hull, or to Inspector Robertson, Patrington,. Hull, Yorkshire, who holds the war- rent for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 31. Description of a woman found dead in the Queen's Wood, near Dinmore, Marden, near Hereford, on 22nd instant, supposed to have been violated and murdered : from 25 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches long, and dark hair ; dressed in a black silk skirt, with light body, large ornamental metal buttons, a cloth jacket, trimmed with black silk and light check polonaise underneath, blue and white striped petticoat, with a red one underneath, dark stays, black straw hat, trimmed with blue velvet, blue feather and ivy leaves, elastic- side boots, aud leather garters, lined with red cloth, and has the appearance of a traveller. An inquest was held on 23rd instant, and adjourned till 17th proximo. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cope, County Police Station, Hereford.— Bow- street, May 27. TOEGERY. Absconded from Cannock, 14th inst., charged with forgery: JABEZ SCOTT, 34 years of age, about 5 ft. 9 ins. high, black hair turning grey, slight moustache, small whiskers, and very' pale complexion; last seen at Walsall Station, about 6 p m above date, and was then dressed in a dark suit, light grey overcoat, white muffler, and black felt liat, A reward of J50 will be paid on his apprehension and conviction on application to Messrs. Thursfield and Messiter, Solicitors, Wednesbury. Information to be given to the Superintendent of Police, Wednesbury, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 27. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Tilstock, Salop, between 10 p. m. on 23rd, and 6 p. m. on 24th instant: a black corded cloth Coat, single- breasted, three buttons on front, two ditto on hips, two pockets in the skirts, one ditto inside left breast ; a pair of Trousers, made from same cloth as above, fly fronts, hip pockets nearly new ; one black cloth Jacket, skirt pockets, one pocket inside left breast; a black cloth Yest; and a pair of black cloth Trousers, fall front, all man's size, the suit of black last named would be old : fashioned; an Umbrella, has been blown inside out, has some of tt. e inside wires broken. Stolen ( by means of burglary) from the house of Ralph Clutton, Esq., in Reigate, between 11 p. m. 24th and 7 a. m. on 25th instant : a blue china Biscuit Box, plated top " and stand ; a double Sugar Stand, glass and plated ; a Sardine Box, plated ; a Tankard, embossed, gilt and oxidized silver ; a pair of Candlesticks, red china and gilt; a pair of Vases, oxidized silver and gilt ; a Thermometer Weather Glass : silver gilt Oyster Shell with limpet shell at bottom; also a brown Purse, containing about £ 2. Information to be given to Head Constable Rogers, Redhill, Surrey. — Bow- street, May 29. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, on 16th instant, from the dwelling- house of Reese Jones, Pentre Hayling, near Churchstoke : a man's suit of Clothes, the jacket and vestaie dark tweed, and the trousers are grey striped, rather lar^ e stripe ; also a pair of elastic- side Boots, which are recovered. By a man having the appearance of a tramping farm laboure), 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, between 30' and 40 years of age, dark whiskers, and fresh complexion; dressed in hard felt hat, dark jacket and vest, and dirty cord trousers. A mar answering same description was seen making his way from Shrewsbury to Wrexham on the 18th instant, inquiring the road to Wrexham, and during afternoon of 19 th instant was met between wrexham and Gresford going in direction of latter place ; is supposed to bo now in the neighbourhood of Gresford or Rosset, Denbighshire. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Howells, Shrewsbury, or to Acting Sergeant Langford, Minsterley, Salop.— Bow• s'reet, Mai/ 27. During the night of 15tli instant, Highfield House, liear Market Harborough, the residence of J Davison, Esq., was broken aud entered by means of forcing open a window- on the ground floor : a despatch box and other boxes and desks were broken open by a ' jemmy' about | of an inch wide, and a Milner's iron safe was tried. The thieves were disturbed by a dog, and decamped, leaving behind them a large black bag or dressing- case and a dark lantern ( an ordi- nary reading lamp) with wax candle. There is nixing from the house a duplicate Key of the iron safe, No. 146773 H, aiid a large iron Key of the wine cellar ( both keys were in the despatch box) and same Penny and Sixpenny Postage Stamps The burglary was effected by three men, who can be iden- tified : First— from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or S inches high, dark hair cut very short, no whiskers or moustache, and pimpled face ; dressed in a mixture cloth suit, between grey and yellow, hard round black hat, and lace- up boots. This man was in the habit of rolling up tobacco as cigarettes, he was also suffering from a corn. Second— from" 20 to 23 years of age. 5 feet 5 or 0 inches high, light brown hair, slight sandy whiskers and moustache, fair complexion, and good- looking ; dressed in black ribbed cloth suit, low shoes, and hard round black hat. Third— about 20 or 21 years of age, 5 feet ( i or 7 inches high, dark hair and complexion, long features and high cheek bones ; dressed in dark cloth ribbed coat, dark cloth trousers and vest, low shoes, and hard round black hat. One of the two younger men had buttons on his shoes and wore striped socks. They all three spoke a good deal about racing matters, appeared to know both London and Birmingham. A s Mlf- round black boot button with shank was found in the room were the burglars were. Bolton, and stolen therein : a pair of and mall HORSE AND CATTLE STEALINC Stolen during the night of 27tli instant, from the stables at Cippenham Court, Bucks : a black cart Horse, 9 years old 165 hands high, half of face white, a sore on the upper part of off shoulder, chafed on off side just behind shoulder, and has had a hook run through the near nostril which caused a small lump to rise inside, a small white spot under the saddle, and was shod in front on 27th instant ; a black nag Mare, 7 years old 15 hands 1 inch high, white star on forehead, tail cut s pt'are, rather weak in forelegs; a set of Trace Harness, square iron buckles, brass mountings on halter and back band, with ' A' engraved on them, and iron bames ; a set of Shaft Harness wooden hames, double bit on halter, and brass mountings with the letter ' A' engraved, on, one of them off the saddle; a ( Hunting Bridle, double reins, single bit ; a Riding Saddle with the tree broken in centre, double girths, and two hempen nose Bags, full of Corn ; a small dung Cart, very old and dirty, with the name of ' Edward Aldridge; Etonwick,' on the off side, nearly obliterated and covered with dirt; a pair of hempen plough Reins ; and about 6 trusses of Meadow Hay. The two Horses advertised in the Police Gazettee of th instant, and other dates as stolen from. Denaway, Sappeiton, has been found and restored to the owners.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen on night of 29th instant, from Rotherfield, Sussex, the property of Henry Buck, farmer : a dark brown cart Horse, aged, about 16 hands high, off hind foot below the fetlock white, has a running sore in near fere fetlock, the near hind leg slightly swollen, value £ 20. Also the propei ty of Henry fairbrother, farmer, of Rotherfield : a heavy spring Cart, painted dark green, has a box on the seat, tail board lets down with chains, ' Henry Fairbrother, Rotherfield, Sussex,' paiuted on behind. Also the property of William Wilmshurst, of Stone Mill, Rotherfield : a neirly new set of brass- mounted Harness, maker Streatfield, Rotherfield, stamped iu leather on hip straps, value £ 5. Stolen from Basing, during the night of 24th instant, the property of Martha Wellock : a black Mare, about 14 hands high, blind near eye, 14 years old, and in good con- dition ; a set of brass- mounted Harness, round buckles, about half worn ; also a spring Cart, painted black, very- much worn, foot board split, tail board broken, and left wing . split, name of ' Edward Wellock, Basing, Hants,' underneath tailboard. Stolen on 24tli instant, from No. 2, Old Pye- street, Westminster : a small black Donkey, about 5 years old. By FREDERICK MAY, license holder, Office No. 134.90, 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, ahd slight sandy moustache ; drrssed iu dark clothes, all old and dirty. — Metropolitan Police, B Division, May 29. Stolen from Walsall, during the night of 26th instant, a dark bay mare Pony, 13 hands 2 inches high, 4 years old, long tail, black legs, and has a small white Star on forehead ; also a brown horse, 15 hands high, 3 years old, and ba, s black legs ; and a brown horse, aged, 15 hands high, and is lame on the off hind leg. Information to bo given to Chief Con- stable Cater, Walsall.— Bow- street, May 29. Stolen on 25th instant, from Georgiana- street, Camden Town : a red ' roan Cob, 6 years' old, 14 hands 2 inches high, in good condition, trace marks on side, one black and three white fetlocks, named ' Dick,' aud will stop when called ; a set of Harness, nearly new, and ' H. S.' on harness pad ; a light Spring Cart, painted chocolate, picked out with red, ' Harriet Smith' on shaft, and two bottom boards nearly worn through. Found at Bidford, a dark bay Mare, aged, 16 hsa « ds high, blind of left eye, near liind fetlock white, in low condition ; supposed to have been stolen. Also found at Wixford, on 16 th May, a brown mare Pony, aged, about 11 hands high, in low condition. Stolen during the night of the 21st instant, from a field at Beckton Road, Plaistow, a chesnut horse Pony, 12 hands high, silver mane and tail.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, May 27. Stolen from a field at Somerford, Brewood. during the night of 19th instant, the property of Mr. Joseph Hayward, of° Somerford Mill: a light chesnut horse Pony, 3 years old, 14 hands high, in good condition, white star on forehead, short mane, and toping long, bang tail cut off at hocks, splent inside near foreleg, qiiiet, active, aud a very high stepper, recently broken to saddle. Information to be given to Deputy- Chief Constable Oswell, Forebridge, or to Sergeant Wheaver, Police Station, Penkridge, near Stafford.— Bow- street, May 27. Stolen during the last month, from Rhydhowel Hill, Llandinam; the property of Mr Thomas Evans, of Upper Penrhydllan : four yearling Hiefs, ear marked, right ear slit, and a crop, left ear spittle marked, pitch mark ' T. E.', raddled along the back and down the right thigh. Informa- tion to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to Police Constable Pearson, Caersws, Montgomeryshire.— Bow- street, May 27. Stolen from a field at Northenden, during the night of 19th instant: a light coloured Heifer, which has since been recovered. Supposed by a man who was met with the stolen heifer in his possession, about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 0 inches high, dark complexion, whiskers, and moustache, stout made, limps a little, bow- legged, and has a slight impediment in his speech ; dressed in dark grey clothes, hard billycock hat, and had with him a reversible mackintosh and stick. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Lawton, County Police Station, Stockport. — Bow- street, May 27. Description of CHRISTOPHER SOUTHWORTH, alias JAMES TAYLOR, charged on a warrant with stealing an 8 POLICE GAZETTE. Ma rch 31 iron- grey Horse, a Gig, and set of Harness, on 6th ultimo, since recovered at Wolverhampton, the property of Michael Wood : he is 50 to 55 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fresh complexion, thick neck, large eyes, grey stubbley hair, turns his toes out a little when walking. He left Walsall on 17th ultimo, with James Hopkins, since committed for trial at quarter sessions, for same offence. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 27. Stolen from Manea, in the Isle of Ely, during the night of 18th instant : a light coloured mare Donkey, about 7 years old, has rather short ears, long tail, turns all its feet outwards, and had no shoes on. Information to be given to Mr. Supt. Burrows, March, Isle of Ely, Cambs.— Bow- street, May 22. LARCEIT ASB EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen during the night of 27th instant, from a farm- house at Kirk Langley, near Derby : a pair of elastic- side Boots, nearly new ; a pair of lace- up watertight Boots, nearly- new ; a grey tweed Overcoat, two pockets outside and brown velvet coliar ; a short grey tweed Coat, two outside pockets ; and a cotton Shawl, red, black and white striped. Supposed by a man of short stature and dark complexion, who was seen near the place between 5 and 6 p. m. the same morning, carrying a bundle in a coloured handkerchief. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable, 17, St. Mary's Gate, Derby.— Bow- street, May 31. Stolen from a public- house on 27th instant : a lady's gold lever Watch, No. 5028, gold dial, engine- turned cases, ' J. P.' engraved on back, and had attached a long gold Chain, with Seal and broken Key. By ISAAC BURNLEY, a broken- down gentleman, formerly a coal proprietor in this district, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fair com- plexion, but somewhat sunburnt, fair moustache and no whiskers ; dressed in a dark coat and waistcoat, lightish plaid trousers, and black billycock hat. He is an enthusiastic player at cricket and billiards. Information to be given to Chief Constable Clarkson, Borough Police, Wakefield, Yorks. — Bow- st- May 31. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Newcastle- on- Tyne, on 26th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, double cased ; n gold Albert Guard, long links, very heavy with stone Seal attached, red colour; a silver Pencil- case, small size. By DAVID SIMON, a Polish Jew, who lodged in the house, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair cut short, no beard or whiskers, pale complexion, and proportionate build ; dressed in dark cloth coat and trousers, hard black felt hat, of shabby appearance, very silly looking, and a tailor, and will probably seek employment at a second- hand clothes shop, more particularly amongst his own countrymen, as he speaks English imperfectly. A warrant has been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Con- stable, Central Police Buildings, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, Nor- thumberland.— Bow- street, May 3'. Description of a man who gives the name of GEORGE HENRY SMITH, a travelling clock and watch cleaner, remanded till 4th proximo, upon a charge of fraudulently converting to his own use a Clock, intrusted to him to clean : he is about 55 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stout, fresh complexion, grey hair and whiskers ; dressed in old grey overcoat, grey plaid trousers, old felt hat, has a scald on his right arm. which he says was done in Brecon sometime ago, has tan elled a good deal in South Wales lately. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dykes, County Police Station, Leominster, to P. C. Leintwardine, or to P. S. Philpotts, Police Station,- Wigmore, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, May 29. Absconded on 18th instant from Bedford charged on a warrant with embezzlement: WALTER PERRY, a clerk in the employ of Messrs. Rogers and Harris, auctioneers, of Bed- ford, 21 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, pale complexion, light- brown hair, blue eyes, no whiskers or moustache, leans his head forward, and frequently walks with hands in trou- sers pockets ; dressed in dark cutaway coat and vest, dark plaid trousers and low crowned hat; frequents race meetings, billiard rooms and music halls. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Borough Police Office, Bedford.— Bow- street, May 29. Description of CHARLES TEMPLE, alias JAMES DEWHURST, charged on a warrant with stealing a new black leather Portmanteau, with brass nails and straps, con- taining a Melton cloth Coat and Vest; a pair of light striped cloth Trousers ; a white linen Shirt; two pocket Handker- chiefs ; a pair of Gloves ; and a leather Purse, containing £ 6. He is about 17 or 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, and pockpitted. Left Hull on 19th for Sheffield, wearing the stolen clothes ; has been convicted at Wakefield and Sheffield ; and has also been in the Ashton- under- Lyne Industrial School. His brother, who is about 15 years of age, is supposed to be with him. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, May 27. Absconden on 14th instant, from Ipswich, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : WILLIAM JOHN MASON, 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, moustache, and whiskers, shaved under the chin, has a port wine mark on right side of neck just under the ear, dark eyes; dressed when hist seen in grey tweeu suit and mackin- tosh, and silk hat. Information to be given to Head Con- stable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for liis apprehension.— Bow- street, May 27. Absconded, charged on warrant with stealing on ISth instant, at Tilney Saint Lawrence : £ 12 in Gold Coins: ANDREW BOWMAN, a groom, from 25 to 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown hair, small light whis- kers and moustache, fair complexion, weak sunken eyes, thick lips, and of very slender build ; dressed when last seen in grey twill coat and trousers, light brown twill vest, white necktie, dark chummy hat, with holes in the top, and lace boots, nailed with small round- headed nails. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Carter, Terrington Saint Clement, King's Lynn, Norfolk.— Bow- street, May 27. Stolen on 2- lth instant, from the Prince of Wales' Inn, Welshpool, the property of E. Ryder, a silver lever Watch ( nearly new), No. 3008, and marked oil dial ' George Evans, Oswestry,' aud a long silver Chain attached. Supposed by a tramping tailor who had slept there the two previous nights. He is about 24 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, dark hair ( cut short), dark moustache, no whiskers, smart soldier- like appearance-; dressed in a blue monkey jacket with velvet collar, brown striped cloth trousers, blaek hard jimcrow hat, militia boots and shirt, and a fine linen front. Supposed to be a native of Yorkshire. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ellis, Welshpool,— Bow- street, May 27. Absconded, 18tli instant, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: FREDERICK HYDE, 17 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair ; dressed in mixture tweed suit, bone buttons, and deerstalker hat; parents reside at No. 7, Clarendon- square, Somers Town. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliam, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jury, E. C.— Bow- st., May 24. Stolen on 17th instant, from the ' Plough' beershop, Fletching, Sussex, a dark tweed Jacket ( boys size), pockets at sides, and one inside the right breast, not much worn, and a cotton Handkerchief, white ground and red spots. Supposed by a man from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion, stout built, walks very cripplish, a stone mason by trade, and supposed a native of Brighton ; dressed in a dark coat and dark trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, or to Police Constable Geer, Fletching, Sussex.— Bow- street, May 24. Stolen from a lodging- house at Llanidloes, on 21st inst-., by a tramp who lodged in the house the previous night : a pair of lace- up Boots, nailed a diamond pattern, tips under the heels ; a pair of old brown woollen Stockings, and left his own behind.
