Stolen during the " night of 25th ultimo, from a shed at Stoke Poges, Bucks: a large copper Boiler ( recovered, having been sold at Windsor), by an Irishman, about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, sunburnt complexion, slightly pockmarked, small tuft of sandy hair on chin, lather large turn- up nose, and of dirty appearance ; dressed in dark coat and black cap. His daughter, about 17 years of age, left Windsor with him. He generally carries a bundle of old umbrellas, and gathers rags and bones. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, May 3. Description of 2 men charged with committing a larceny at Barley, near Royston, Herts, on 29th ultimo : one about 42 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair ; dressed in grey suite, hard b'. aok felt hat. The other about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, ginger hair and whiskers ; dressed in dark coat, light trousers, and black hard felt hat. They had the appearance of horse dealers, the first described man has a knife wound in palm of left hand, and carries his arm in a sling. They had in their possession a well bred bay Mare, 15£ hands high, 6 years old, black legs, and marks on the jaw caused by being blistered ; and a light spring Cart, picked out with light green, back let down, a small wooden dashboard, double steps on both sides, two round holes in each step ; set of silver mounted Harness, Queens pattern furniture, straight flap saddle, with square plated nails on top. They were traced through Ware to a village near Eppiug, Essex, and finding the were closely pursued by the police, abandoned the horse and cart. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cocksedge, Royston, Herts.— Bow- street, May 3. Description of JOHN FURNESS, traveller for iron and boiler works, charged upon a warrant with embezzle- ment : he is 47 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, very bald, light hair, moustache and whiskers, which may have been shaved off, stout build, short thick hands, bow- legged, swaggers when walking, and frequents first- class hotels ; dressed in brown suit, dark thick cloth overcoat, and black silk hat. He was last seen on the 24th ultimo ; will call upon boiler makers and try to dispose of a patent for an angle- iron ring, rolled out of the solid. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Hilton, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, by whom £ 2 reward will be paid for his appre- hension.— Bow- st., May 1. Absconded from Luton on 29th ultimo, charged on warrant with larceny : JOHN STRATTON, blocker, of Luton, 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair com- plexion, light brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, large teeth in front, and shows them very much when talking ; dressed in a black pilot jacket, dark blue vest and trousers, black deerstalker hat, and lace- up boots. Informa- tion to be given to Head Constable Jaquest, Borough Police Office, Luton, Bedfordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 1. Charged on warrants with stealing 2 tons of Nitrate of Soda ( recovered) : ISAAC ROBSON, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 ins. high, proportionate build, fair comp'exion, ginger hair and moustache, no whiskers or beard, blue eyes; dressed in dark tweed suit, and hard felt hat; by trade a brickmaker. WILLIAM WOOD, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, little whiskers under chin, stout build, rather bow- legged; dressed in tweed suit, trousers a shade lighter than the coat and vest, and hard black felt hat; is a cartman or low horse dealer. Both are natives of Newcastle- upon- Tyne. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Central Police Station, Newcastle- on- Tyne.— Bow- street, May 1. Stolen from the shop of Mr. Joseph Ward, 338, Victoria- street, Grimsby, between 10 and 12 a. m. on 27th ultimo : two gold levers, large 16 size, white dials, Nos. 18130 and 14488 ; a f- plate gold Geneva Lever, nearly new ; two 18 size gold Levers, gold dials, No. 4090 ; a goll Lever, 16 size, white dial, No. 17815 ; a gold hunting Geneva ; a Geneva, white dial, strong case, No. 3272. By a man, from 22 to 25 years of age, rather tall and thin, blue eyes, red hair, and fresh complexion; dressed in black coat, light mixture trousers, and round felt hat. £ 20 reward will be paid by Mr. Ward to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Infor- mation to be given to Head Constable Campbell, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, May 1. Further [ information of the larceny at Buckden, adver- tised in the Police Gazette of 23rd ultimo : the men went to Huntingdon and stopped there until noon on 21st ultimo, when they left, stating they were going to Cambridge. They gave their names WILLIAM JACKSON, striker, of Manchester, who is 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, blue eyes, light hair and complexion, sandy moustache, and pock- marked ; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, hard felt hat, and dirty- white wrapper; and GEORGE MORGAN, a groom, 26 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, blue eyes, brown hair, and fresh complexion ; dressed in dark clothes and hard felt hat. They will probably stop at Casual Wards under these names. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Copping, St. Neots, Huntingdon.— Bow- street, May 1. Description of THOMAS CHAMBERS, a labourer or navvy, late of Greenfield Waterworks, charged on warrant with larceny : he is 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, proportionate build, small light moustache; dressed in moleskin trousers, loose drab slop, such as usually worn by navies, soft black billycock hat, and heavy boots ; he is a convicted thief, and well known on public works. Information to be given to Inspector Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Saddleworth, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, A'pril 29. Further information respecting GEORGE WHITTALL, alias RICHARD LLOYD, alias GREAT HEAD, who absc; nded from Eaton Constantine, on 24th instant, and is chargi d on a warrant with larceny at Tasley, 14th April, 1877, advertise 1 in Poli e Gazette of 30th April, 1877: he is dresied n dark jacket and vest, light grey trousers, elastic- side bocts, and hard jim- crow hat; was seen in Wellington, Salop, at 630 p. m., 24th instant. This man is known in the neighbourhood of Eaton Constantine, by the name of GEO. DO WISES, at which p ace he wo kedfor Mr. Glover, farmer. In formal ion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Christie, or to Sergeant Leader, Bridgnorth, Salop.— B^ w- strezt April 26. Stolen from a lodging- house in Peterborough, on 24th instant: a black cloth double- breasted Overcoat, has two pockets out side with flaps, one inside left breast, it has a piece of white tape under the loop inside the collar, supposed to have the name ' T. Garner' on the white tape. Supposed by two tramping men, one an artificial flower maker, about 21 years of age, 6 feet high, broad smooth face, hair cut short, and supposed to belong to Hertford. He is accompanied by a young woman. This man has been arrested en suspicion, aiid discharged, and is supposed to have concealed the stolen coat. The other man is an iron moulder, from 30 to 35 years of age ; dressed in dark coat, moleskin trousers, and billycock hat. Absconded on 23rd ultimo, from Iken, Suffolk, charged with having on 10th ultimo, at Iken, committed bestiality with a mare pony : JOHN BAGGOTT, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches- high, dark hair and complexion, and no hair on his face ; dressed generally in a brown velveteen waistcoat, dark corduroy trousers, and soft felt hat. He may have a speckled suit with him. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Freeman, Woodbridge, or to Police Con- stable Alden, Tunstall, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 1. Description of JANE JENNER, charged on a warrant with administering to herself a noxious thing with intent to procure her own miscarriage : she is about 30 years of age, short, slightly made, pale thin face, large nose flattened, on right side, a wart or lump on the bridge, front teeth project, has a downcast look ; generally dresses in dark clothes ; a native of Brighton, and is a domestic servant. Information to be given to Chief Constable Barnden, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 29: FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Absconded from Worksop, charged with night poaching and assaulting the gamekeeper of W. T. Cookson, Esq., on 18th ultimo : WILLIAM SCOTT, labourer, of Worksop, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, light brown hair, fresh com- plexion, large nose, no whiskers or moustache, and is accom- panied by a woman, called ' Staffordshire Fan.' And JOSEPH HOLDEN, alias LEGS, a labourer and native of Whit well, Derbyshire, about. 30 years of age, 5 feet 10£ or 11 inches high, dark brown hair, pale or sallow com- plexion, and ( supposed) neither whiskers or moustache. Both the above men are well known in and around Sheffield, Chesterfield, Eckington, Ivillermarsh, Attercliffe and Gains - borough. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Holland, County Police Station, Worksop, Notts, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, May 3. Description of JOHN BYLES, a dealer, who absconded from Norwich on 12th ultimo, charged on a warrant with obtaining money by false pretences : he is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light brown hair, cut short, brown eyes, no whiskers or moustache, fresh complexion, smart appearance ; dressed in light brown mixed suit, black deer- stalker hat, lace boots, occasionally wears a sealskin cap. Description of DAVID PALMER, late of Oxford- street, London, iiamond merchant, charged on a warrant with obtaining £ 80 from Mr. Charles Henry Jenkins, merchant, of Grimsbury, near Banbury, by false pretences : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, little fair whiskers, deep sunken eyes, wears glasses, and talks fast ; dressed respectably. Is well known at Banbury. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Bond, Birmingham.— Bow- street, April 29. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS, In custody, charged with stealing a Horse on 29th ult., since recovered, at Elton : he gives the name of THOMAS LEE, tramping from place to place mending locks, 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair, tuft of hair on chin, no whiskers, and pockpitted; dressed in light pepper- and- salt cloth monkey jacket, old dark cloth trousers, black cloth vest, black billycock hat, woollen shirt, and black and red woollen scarf, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Shawe, Bakewell, or to Mr. Super- intendent Whieldon, Ashbourne, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, May 3. Missing from his home since 1st ultimo: HENRY HEMMING, 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, red hair, thin face, clean shaved, scars on bridge of nose and chin, and has lost two front teeth ( not certain whether from upper or lower jaw), is of unsound mind, andit is feared some ill has befallen him ; ho was dressed in a black cloth suit, and old elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gallaway, Constabulary Office, Aston, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, May 3. Under remand, one at Hammersmith Police Court until 11 a. m., 6th, the other at Worship- street Police Court, until 11 a. m., 7th, on charges of housebreaking : WILLIAM SMITH, name supposed false, 35 years of age, 5 feet 4-£ inches high, dark complexion, hair, eyes, and heavy moustache, whiskers shaved off, scar on bridge of nose; dressed in brown mixture ulster, grey mixture undercoat, brown felt hat; appearance of a horse coper. JOHN DACY, 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, hair, and moustache, whiskers shaved off; dressed in black overcoat, grey mixture under do., black felt hat. Bag containing change of linen and skeleton key found at their lodgings. These men, with two others named Rose and Peters, license holders, 1st, 28 years of age, 5 feet 2£ inches high, pale and delicate looking; 2nd, 44 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, brown moustache, shabby appearance, are believed to have committed burglaries in various parts of the country. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector O'Callaghan, Police Station, Stoke Newington.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, May 3. Description of WILLIAM SAMPSON, and JOHN RITSON, alias GIBBS, alias WILSON, committed for trial on two charges of felony, at Tunbridge Wells : Sampson is about 20 years' of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, pale complexion, freckled face, slight build, has an anchor on right arm, scar of cut on throat, and one on left side of head. Supposed to have been impi- isoned 6 months for housebreaking, and is a collector of marine stores. Ritson is 34 years of age, 5 ft. ll inch high, a shoemaker, dark complexion and hair, and has a slight scar on bridge of nose. Supposed to have had 6 months for felony in the name of Wilson, and convicted at Northampton some yea. rs ago for felony in the name of Ritsoiu A lady's short flannel Dressing Gown and two hip Flannels', each fastens with a small loop and pearl button, were found in their possession. Remanded, charged with stealing from the person at the- steeple chases, Old Windsor, on 27th ultimo : a gold keyless hunting Watch, gold Chain attached, ( not recovered) - HENRY MARTIN, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion,' light brown eyes, hair turning grey, moustache and imperial' chin shaved, marks of abscess under each ear, ' C. OWEN DALEY, who absconds from Industrial School, Cannington, near Bridgwater OR 10th ultimo : he is 12 years of age, 4 feet inches hi< » h slight figure, brown hair, intelligent appearance ; dressed in cord trousers, vest, and jacket, belongs to Fetter- lane Holborn, London. Information to be given to the Superin- tendent of the Industrial School, Cannington, near Bridg- water, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, May 1. Escaped from the Convict Prison, at Chatham, on 29th ultimo : D 383, GILES HUTCHINGS, a convict, for wilful murder, 33 years of age, 5 feet 4f incheshigh, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes, proportionate make, a glove maker, and born at Hardington, Somerset; marked on right side with a scar corner of eye, above wrist, back of hand,' and on outside of wrist; left side, scar on upper part of forehead,, above wrist, and on second finger. Committed on 20th Jan.^ 1877, at Yeovil ; convicted at Taunton Lent Assizes, on 10th March, 1877, sentenced to 24 years penal servitude. His friends reside at Hardington, near Yeovil. Remanded until 6th instant, charged with attempting to- pick pockets ( names supposed fictitious) : THOMAS RIVERS, 20 years of age, 5 feet inches high, browny- black negro hair, brown eyes, very sallow com- plexion, slim built, and scar and blue mark on left arm; dressed in small striped dark grey trousers, blue serge coat and vest. WILLIAM BEATRIS, 24 years of age, 5 feet 2,5 inches- high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, large bald place on back of head, from a blow, scar on knuckle of second finger left hand, and thickly built; dressed in dark grey trousers, blue serge jacket, striped waistcoat, and a dark dust overcoat. And BENJAMIN TRIBBLES, 38 years of age, 5 ft. 4j inches high, black hair, dark brown beard and moustache, hazel eyes, sallow complexion, freckled face, two scars on the- right elbow, scar on left arm, and scar from abscess near left ear ; dressed in dark striped trousers, black coat and vest, dark grey waterproof coat, and deerstalker hac. They frequent race- courses. Information to be given to Sergeant Sommers, City Police, Worcester.— Bow- street, May 1. Remanded at Derby until 4th instant, charged with larceny and obtaining money by false pretences : WILLIAM WRIGHT, 17 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, sallow com- plexion, brown hair, and dark grey eyes; dressed in blue Guernsey, large white muffler, blue trousers, lace- up boots, and clieesecutter cap. States he is a native of Basingstoke. Information to be given to Chief Constable Delacombe, Town Hall, Derby. — Bow- street, May 1. Description of a convict, X C 255, GEORGE WOOD, who effected his escape from Brixton Prison, on 23rd instant: 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, proportionately built, a paitter, and was undergoing a sentence of 8 years penal servitude for stealing thread, & c., at Manchester, where he was convicted 14th December, 1876. Previously convicted at Maidstone, 13th March, 1871, for burglary, at Dover, and sentenced to 7 years, penal servitude; also convicted at Surrey Sessions 1st June, 1868, as GEORGE WYBURN, and Middlesex Sessions 28th February last, as GEORGE WOOD. Descriptive marks, right side, scar back of wrist; left side, vaccine, mark, tattoo- marks thick part of arm, ' A. J.' and quill pen, ' D. D.' on ribs, scar on knee, and heavily wrinkled forehead. It is very pro- bable that he may attempt to make his way northward as a tramping painter. Information to be given to the Governor of Brixton Prison, Surrey.— Bow- st., April 29. In custody at Newcastle upon- Tyne, and remanded until 3rd proximo, on suspicion of stealing forty- three ounces- of Silver found in his possession : DAVID DAVIS, a stone- cutter by trade, 34 years of a^ e, 5 feet 9J inches high, proportionate build, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, chin shaved, long visage, long straight nose, slightly cross- eyed, grey colour, fresh complexion, dimple on chin, wart on little finger right hand, near the nail, third finger of same hand broken and very flattened at second joint, scar half an. inch long centre of left thigh, smart appearance, and speaks, with an unmistakeable Scotch accent; dressed in a single- breasted dark long overcoat, brown tweed shooting coat and vest, large check tweed trousers, and high- crowned black felt hat. The silver is of fine quality in scraps, having been apparently melted and poured into water. Amongst the articles found in his possession was a box of Collars, bearing label ' Michael Allen, 20, Argyle- street, Glasgow The Glasgow Evening Times, and The North British Mail, of 22nd instant; and the Edinburgh Evening News of 24th. instant. He seems acquainted with prison discipline, and refuses to be photographed, and has been spending money recklessly in low company. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Newcastle- upon- Tyne, Northumberland.— Bow- street, April 29. Missing from his home since 3rd instant: JAMES FRASER, gardener, Stobo Castle, Peeblesshire, 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, long dark beard, whiskers, and moustache, a native of Nairnshire, Scotland; dressed in dark suit, light grey topcoat, and black dress hat.
