Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Nottingham races, on 17th instant: a gold lever Watch, No. 49127. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham. — Bow- street, April 23. INFORMATIONS. MURDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. On 13th instant, the dead body of a newly- born female child was found in a wood on Bradninch Common, adjoining the highway between Cullompton and Bradninch, with marks • of violence thereon. A verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown' has been found by the coroner's jury. £ 50 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( other than a person belonging to a, police force in the United Kingdom) who shall give such information and- evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the offender or offenders, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant or Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Collins, Devon Constabulary, Cullompton.— Bow- street. April 26. The dead body of a newly born female child, was found ( with a large wound on the right side of the head), on the common at Bradninch, Devon, at 1 p. m. on 13th instant, tiie body was found in a crinoline muslin bag, concealed under some browse or hedge parsings ; the child did not appear to have been born many hours when found. The coroner's jury have returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person, or persons unknown.' FOSGESY, Absconded, charged with forgery at Manchester : a man about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, grey hair, and whiskers going grey, no moustache, weighs about 14 stone ; supposed to be wearing a brown coat and tall hat. On 13th instant he obtained « £ 60 upon a draft on t e Liverpool Union Bank Bold- street Bran ; h, Liverpool, which had been altered from £ 10 to .£ 160 by some chemical process. Between 10 p. m. 22nd, and 6 30 a. m. 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of Edwin Orme, of Horninglow- street, Burton- on- Trent, was entered by bursting open a cellar grating at the back of the house, and stolen : 2 sides of Sole Leather, 2 pairs of men's lace- up Boots, and 2 pairs of men's boot Tops. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 26. Between 11 p. m. on 23rd, and 6 a. m. on 24th instant, a dwelling- house, at Southsea, was broken and entered and the following property stolen : A lady's loose fitting sealskin Jacket, medium size, lined with brown satin, three hooks in front, one eye missing, and no pocket. A black silk Dress, body lined with light lavender colour lining, trimmed with silk and crape in front, three pleats and three bows behiud, and black muslin lining inside bottom of skirt. 4 silver Table Spoons, marked ' E. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Bigby, from the dwelling- house of Sarah Beacock, on 19th instant: an apple Pie, and blue and white Dish ; a tart Crust, and white china Saucer, six blue spots inside ; a Plato with Bread and Butter on it; and half a white bread Loaf. Supposed by two men, one about 50 years of age, medium size, dark whiskers, turning o- rey ; dressed in dark clothes. The other had a dark coat on, and wore a pair of fustian trousers. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Danby, Brigg, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, April 26. Stolen by means of burglary, on 22nd instant, from the dwelling- house of Thomas Ibbotson, at Bielby, East Riding of Yorkshire: 2 lbs. of Tobacco, viz., £ lb. thick Twist, wrapped up in paper marked ' Todd, York,' the remainder was Shag, two | lbs. and 12 ozs., wrapped up in plain white Supposed by two tramps, who were seen in the 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, very thick neck, full face, with blotches or pimples on it, supposed native of Ireland. When last seen was wearing the stolen clothes, lace- up boots, and Scotch cap with peak. Has been traced to Barnard Castle. Stolen by means of housebreaking at Chilham, between 5 and 8 p. m. on 14th instant, the property of Oliver Gould : a square wooden cash Box, about a foot square, containing about £ 10 in Gold and Silver, in an old brown leather Purse, a Will, Indentures of Apprenticeship of Oliver Gould, some Insurance Policies and other valuables, a 5s. Piece amongst the money ; also two pairs of brown mixed tweed Trousers, new ; a pair of black Trousers ; a double- breasted Yest to match ; a pair of grey check Trousers; a double- breasted Vest to match, the two latter suits have been worn, and the buttons on trousers have ' Gould and Son, Chilham' on them; a table Cloth; a toilet Cover; and two pairs of Sheets. Supposed by a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high ; dressed in fustian suit, and old black billycock hat. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Hope- road, Sale, between 6 and 10' 30 p. m. on 14th instant : a silver fish Knife and Fork, fiddle pattern, embossed, and engraved with letter ' B.' ; a silver cake Knife and Fork, same pattern, with letter ' B.' on handle ; a plain gold Bracelet; a gold cable Bracelet; a gold mourning Brooch, set with pearls and ft diamond in centre, with inscription ' Presented by an affectionate grandmother in memory of my mother'; a lady's gold guard Ring, same inscription; a pair of long Ear- rings, bottom ornamented with gold beading in the form of the cross ; a pair of small gold Ear- rings, buttercup pattern ; a lady's gold Ring, set with a dozen pearls ; a gold Brooch, in shape of a true- lover's knot; a silver oval- shape Locket, imitation wreath of oak leaves round edge; a gentleman's gold giiard Chain, with topaz seal. A reward of £ 20 will be given to any person who will give such information that will lead to the recovery of the property and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen, on the night of 8tli instant, from an orchard at Castlemorton, an aged half- bred chesnut Mare, 14 hands high, low back, light colour mane and tail, white star on forehead, and in low condition. A reward of £ 2 will be paid to any person who will give such information tnat will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender, on application to Mr. Pratt, the owner. Information, to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hewlett, County Con • stabulary, Neath, Glamorganshire, who will pay a reward of £ 2 to any person giving information as will lead to the apprehension of the offender or offenders. - Haw- street, April 23. Stolen from a field at Rushton James, near Leek, on l() tk instant, a dark brown filly Colt, 2 years old, 14 hands high, with black legs and a scar on the near thigh. The colt has been traced traced to Leicester, where it was booked on the 11th instant for St. Pancras Station, London. Two brothers named RICHARD BROWN and WILLIAM BROWN are in custody charged with stealing the same, and stand re- manded to the 25th instant. Another man is still at large : he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very much form speckled, and wears a rough beard about three weeks orowth ; dressed in a long black coat and box hat, and had the appearance of a horse dealer. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. ENOCH HAND, advertised in the Police Gazette on 23rd instant, has been apprehended.— Bow- street, April 26. Further information respecting GEORGE WHITTALL, alias RICHARD LLOYD, alias GREAT HEAD, who absconded from Eaton Constantine, on 24th instant, and charged on a warrant with larceny at Tasley, 14th April, 1877, advertised in Police Gazette of 30th April, 1877: he is dressed in dark jacket and vest, light grey trousers, elastic side boots, and hard j im- c. ro w hat; was seen in Wellington, Salop, at 6' 30 p. m., 24th instant. This man is known in the neighbourhood of Eaton Constantine, by the name of GEO. DOWNES, at which place he worked for Mr. Glover, farmer. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Christie, or to Sergeant Leader, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- street A pril 28. Stolen from a lodging- house in Peterborough, on 24th instant: a blaek cloth double- breasted Overcoat, has two pockets outside with flaps, one inside left breast, it has a piece of white tape under the loop inside the collar, supposed to have the name ' T. Garner' on the white tape. Supposed by two tramping men, one an artificial flower maker, about 21 years of age, 6 feet high, broad smooth face, hair cut short, and supposed to belong to Hertford. He is accompanied by a young woman. This man has been arrested on suspicion and discharged, and is supposed to have concealed the stolen coat. The other mail is an iron moulder, from 30 to 35 years of age ; dressed in dark coat, moleskin trousers, and billycock hat. Information to be given to Head Constable Hurst, Borough Police Station, Peterborough, Northamptonshire.— Bjw- street, April 26. Absconded from Birmingham, on 28th ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : THOMAS WOOTTON, solicitoi-' s cleric, late of Newport- road, Brighton- rd., Moscley, 4C years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, light sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache, bald on top of head, wears glasses, and has a stooping gait; dressed in green tinted overcoat, and high silk hat. Absconded on 8th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a quantity of Wine, the property of his master Sir Harcourt Johnstone : ROBERT W. DIXON, alias DICK- SON, late butler aud house steward, 50 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, pale complexion, brown hair and whiskers, high forehead, coarse mouth, speaks very quickly. He is well known at Scarborough. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Williamson, Great Scotland - yard, London, S. W.— Bow- street, April 23. Absconded on 10th instant from Evesham, charged on a warrant with larceny as a bailee of a Trap : EDWARD WILLIAMS, soda water manufacturer, 28 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches high, sandy hair, round features, fresh com- plexion, stout build. He is accompanied by his wife, who is very short and thick set. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Stanton, Pershore, or to Sergeant Gauaerton, Evesham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen between 11 p. m. and 2 a. m. on the night of 20th instant, from a cottage at Scole, Norfolk ; the property of Eli Boulton, labourer : a dark blue pilot Overcoat; a pair of lace- up Boots ; and a dark mixed Scarf. By a tramp who was allowed to sleep in the kitchen during the night ; he is about 34 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair and moustache, and gets his living by singing in public- houses. Supposed wearing the stolen property, having left his old coat and boots behind. Information to be given to Sergeant Kirkpatrick, Diss, or to Mr. Superintendent Seaman, Pulham Market, Hailaston, Norfolk,— Bow- street, April 23. resided at Colchester. Information to be givea to Chief Constable Mercer, Town Hall, Colchester, Essex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 18.' MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS Committed for trial at next assizes at Northampton, charged with unlawful wounding : WILLIAM SURRIDGE, railway labourer, states he is a native of Gloucester, 41 years of age, 5 feet inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, sallow complexion, no " whiskers, broken nose, scar on right cheek and throat, and is rather deaf, is known among railway labourers by the name of ' DEAF'N.' Information to be given to Inspector Barwell, Police Station, Kettering, Northampton- shire.— Bow- street, April 24. Missing from his home at Boscambe, Christchurch, Hants, since- 6th instant : an artist named MARDEN, of weak intellect, middle aged, fair complexion, sandy hair and beard, about 5 feet 4 inches high, and stoops ; dressed in brown coat, brown felt hat, and striped trousers. It is feared some ill has. befallen him. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Brinson, Hants Constabulary, Eingwood.— Bow- st., April 24. Description of EDWARD WILSON, journalist, com- miited to ' Warwick Gaol for two months, on 16tli instant, on the charge of obtaining a guinea under false pretences with begging letters. He is 48 years of age, 5 feet 6- J inches high, grey eyes, fresh complexion, light brown hair, clean shaved, cut marks on forehead, bridge of nose broken, scar on right hand, and states that he has served in the navy ; dressed in tall silk hat, blue pilot overcoat with velvet collar, dark mix- ture suit, and striped scarf. States that he has lived at 20, Park- street, Manchester, and left there in January last. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Palmer, Police Office, rugby, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, Aprils. Description of MAEY ANN ELLIOTT, in custody at Nottingham and remanded until the 26 th instant : 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, fresh com- plexion, large long features and stout appearance. Had in her possession a pawn- ticket for a wedding ring and a dress ring, pawned in Nottingham on loth instant, and a pawn- ticket for a gold guard, two lockets and coin, pawned at York on the same date. Information to be given to the Cliief Constable, Poyntz, Nottingham.— Bow- street, April 23. Description of two boys committed for trial on 17th instant, at Woburn, for the quarter sessions to be held at Bedford in June next, charged with highway robbery at Sheep- lane, Potsgrove, Beds, on 10th instant : THOMAS MILLER, a labourer, states he came from Greenwich, 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair com- plexion, light hair, and blue eyes ; dressed in blue; slop and trousers, heavy lace- up shoes, blue cloth cap with peak, and black and red scarf round his neck. THOMAS GREENWELL, no trade, states he came from Hackney- road, London, 16 years of age ( looks younger), 4 ft. 5 inches high, dark complexion and hair, dark brown eyes, speaks sharp and quick, and says he has been a shoeblack in London ; dressed in plaid trousers, dark coat and vest, old Scotch cap, black and red scarf, and old spring- side shoes. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Shepherd, Leighton Buzzard, Beds.— Bow- street, April 23. Description of a woman in custody at Sheerness, and remanded until 26th instant, charged with obtaining Money by. false pretences : MAEY PEARSON, name supposed fictitious, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, round full face, light brown hair, full hazel eyes, scar over left eye ; dressed in black cloth jacket, trimmed with brown fur and wide braid, black Eussell cord skirt, black bows up front, old silk tunic or polonaise, trimmed with black lace, white straw bonnet, trimmed with light blue bow in front and black feather, black veil, and elastic side boots. Description of HENEY DAVISON, committed for try at the quarter sessions at Northallerton in July next, foi' larceny : he is about 38 years of age, 5 feet 8 incites hitr], dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, and a native of Leeds; dressed in dirty moleskin trousers and vest old: pilot cloth coat, cloth cap, white cotton shirt, and old water- tight boots. He states that he is a labourer or navv,- and has worked for several years in the counties of Northumber- land, Cumberland, and Durham.
