Table Knives, maker ' Townsend' on blades, with ivory balanced handles; 2 Half- sovereigns, one with hole through; about 10s. in silver Coins, with holes through, the other money,[ about 10s., was chiefly bent Money ; a long blue rough Greatcoat, man's size ; and a black billycock Hat. £ 5 reward will be paid on the conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion thereof, by Mr. Sydney Bull, Saunderton. The dead body of a newly- born male child was found on the Great Western Railway, near the Dartmouth Street Bridge, at West Bromwich, on 7th instant, and a coroner's • jury having returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown.' A reward of £ 50 will be - paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who shall give such information aud evidence as shall lead to the • discovery and conviction of the murderer or mm derers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Ma jesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murdei", who shall'give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Maliciously set fire to, a stack of Hay, situate in a field At Nobold, near Shrewsbury; the property of Mr. James Massey. The whole of it was destroyed, as well as a Waggon and a Cart. .£ 10 reward is offered by Mr. Massey for such information as will iead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. FORGERY. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery : JOHN WATSON, alias HUGH MURRAY, late of 71, Claphani- road, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, hair and whiskers brown, shaved on chin, sallow complexion, square build ; dresses well. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliams, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, March 27. Absconded from Crewe about six weeks ago, EPHRAIM LEE, late Relieving Officer to the Nantwich Union, charged with forgery : he is about 33 years of age, about 5 ft. 10 ins. liifh, thin build, very pale complexion, oval face, dark brown liafr liazel eyes, and very small moustache. Information to heaven to Acting Superintendent Morris, Police Station, Crewe, Cheshire. — Bow- street, March 22. Description of ROBERT BLYTH, formerly a clerk, but latterly a general acceptance of years of age. ,' walks erect; usually carman, charged with forgery of an a Bill of Exchange, for £ 50 : he is 28 or 30 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, brown hair, fair com- >^ lex; on cmicer whiskers and moustache, shaved on chin, grey iyes, round features, rather bow legged, walk*] erectS; usually dressed in a grey tweed suit, with round hard black felt hat, generally wears" a light- coloured tweed ulster overcoat ; is a tltive of Northumberland, and was lately a partner in the firm of Messrs. Blyth, Bros, general carmen, Grainger West Firm Newcastle- on- Tyne. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person on the Race Course, at Bishoper, „ ear Malmesbury, on 26tli instant; the property of Mr. C. Cave of Bristol: a gold Watch, No. 35766, makers' name John T. Peters & Co, Bristol. Also' stolen ; the property of E. A. Miles Esq, of Malmes- hury an aluminium Watch, maker ' Kibble, London.' Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Luffman, Malmesbury, Wiltshire.-^- ® :, March 29. Stolen from the persons at Loughborough Steeple Chases, on 2Qtb instant: BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen, by means of housebreaking, between 10 p. m. 26th, and 5 a. m. on 27th instant, from Mistley- place', Manningtree: a silver Inkstand, on four feet, bearing the inscription, ' Pre- sented to the Revd. Charles F. Norman on his resigning the Rectorship of Portishead in 1867' ; a silver Flower Vase; about £ 800 in Promissory Notes, the sums averaging from £ 250 to £ 2 10s, payable to the Reverend C. F. Norman ; an old plain gold wedding Ring ; a silver Medal; a Mordaunt's patent tubular Key of iron safe; 10 new Sovereigns; and £ 5 in Silver Money. Information to be given to Mr. Super intendent Daunt, County Police Station, Colchester, or to Inspector Akers, Police Station, Mistley, Essex.— Bow- street, March 29. About 1 p. m. on 25t. li instant, the house of Rich, James, of Tynywern, near Corwen, Merionethshire, was entered and the following property of AVfearing Apparel stolen therefrom : a black cloth Jacket, Vest and Trousers, nearly new, the jacket was braided all round and trimmed with black buttons, pockets on hips with flaps ; a pair of brown plaid cloth Trousers ; a pair of elastic side Boots, man's size ; and a light coloured Muffler, with large flower in the middle and red border. By a tramp, from 24 to 26 years of age, about 5 feet 4 or 6 inches high,| fresh complexion, and small sandy mous- tache. AVas seen near Llangollen about 7 p. m. on the same day going towards England, and was then wealing the stolen jacket and vest, alifo the brown plaid trousers and boots, and wearing a shabby cap with peak. During the night of 18tli instant, the rectory at Bils- thorpe, was broken into, and stolen therein: a gold lever Watch, open- face, engraved dial, f- plate, duplex, No. 2592, maker Jas. Murray, with crest, and the motto ' Tria juncta in uno' on centre of back ; an old- fashioned silver hunter Watch, with white dial; a gold and green paper Kuiffi ; a small square malachite Stamp Box, with Queen's head on lid ; the under- mentioned articles are all silver: Vmegarette, marked ' L. II. E.' ; Cruet for six bottles ; the Tops of the bottles Top of mustard pot and Spoon, sugar Tongs ; large gravy Spoon ; five table Spoons; one dessert Spoon ; nine tea Spoons ; two salt Spoons ; and four table Forks, all marked ' E. W. G.' ; two table Spoons ; one dessert Spoon ; one mustard Spoon ; two salt Spoons ; and four table Forks, all marked with crest— lion rampant and a branch in paw ; an egg Spoon, marked ' M. E.'; an old tea Spoon, marked ' S. T.'; and two sauce Ladles ; one electro sugar Basin ; one large white linen Apron ; £ 2 in Money ; a half- pint silver Cup, engraved ' Edward William Garrow,' and a small inscription; and two white cambric Handkerchiefs, edged with lace, marked ' G. R.' with red cotton. A reward of £ 20 will be given by the Rev. E. W. Stolen between the night of 15tli, and morning of 16th instant, by means of housebreaking, at Milngavie : 12 silver tea Spoons, queen's pattern, stamped with letler ' R' ; 5 extra heavy silver tea Spoons, plain pattern, witli letters ' D. B stamped on them ; 10 silver tea Spoons, queen's pattern, stamped with letter ' A'; 10 silver dessert Spoons, queen's pattern, stamped with letter ' A'; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, queen's pattern, stamped with letter ' R.' Stolen by means of burglary between 10 p. m. 19th aud 5 a. m. on 20th instant, from the dwelling- house of Mr. Sydney Bull, of Parsonage Farm, Saunderton : a chased silver pint Cup, inscription ' Presented by Revd. Partridge to Mr. Humphrey Bull ;' a plain silver pint Citp, inscription ' Presented by the Aylesbury Board of Guardians to Mr- Humphrey Bull,' with the names of the guardians on; two silver Table Spoons, marked ' A. S. B.;' two Salt do, marked ' S. M. B.;' child's silver Spoon and Fork; silver Butter Knife; doz. plated Tea Spoons ; 1 doz. Dessert Spoons and Table Forks; doz. Dessert Forks ; 4 Table\ Spoons; a HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from the Stork Hotel, Birmingham, on 16th inst., by a man who gave the name of NUNTER, who is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, thin made, dark hair, then wearing whiskers, moustache, and beard ; dressed in a long blue ulster overcoat with band, hard billycock hat, and blue worsted muffler round his neck : a bay Horse, 7 years old, 16 hands high, white hind fetlocks, white star on forehead, and had recently a sore crest; and a four- wheeled dog Cart, painted chocolate colour, picked out with red, had a brake thereon, and contained drab coloured cushions ; and a set of silver- plated Harness, with monogram on. A reward of £ 10 will be paid by Mr. Sankey, of the Victoria Hotel, Albert- road, Aston, to any person who will give such infor- mation as shall lead to the recovery of the property, and con- viction of the offender. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Bond, Birmingham.— Bow- street, March 29. Stolen from a stable at Kimblesworth Colliery, near Durham, during the night of 25th instant: a light bay Horse, 9 or 10 years old, about 15 hands high, long head, white star on forehead, black mane and black switch tail, scar on near hind leg, near the hock, goes lame on same leg when trotting, and in good condition ; also an old Saddle, ' Newton' stamped on it, has two or three white rivets in front of Saddle, and two short straps on far side to lengthen the girths; and a New Single Snaffle Bridle. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary Office, Durham. • Bow- street, March 29. Stolen from a field, at Hednesford, on 16th instant; the property of Mr. Joseph Poole : a dark roan Horse, 16 hands high, 5 years old, in fair condition, and has been, fired on hind fetlocks. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Wallsall, or to Sergeant Cockerell, Police Station, Heduesford, near Stafford. — Bow street, March 27. Stolen during the night of 25th instant, from a stable at Redhill: a dapled grey Horse, limps very much with the near hind leg, about 15^ hands high, good condition, aged ; a small Cart; three sets of Harness ; three Horse Cloths; two Wushells of Barley, in a Sack marked ' Near and Mellish, Reigate'i and two head Stalls, one nearly new. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Rogers, Redhill, Surrey. — Bow- street, March 27. Further information respecting the fifteen Sheep stolen from Dowdesweil, and advertised in Police Gazette of 18th. instant : the sheep have been traced and found sold in Tewkesbury Market. By a man about 22 years of age, slender make, dark features, brown hair, slight moustache, little or no whiskers ; dressed in a long dark coat, dark or grey trousers, hard felt hat, and leather. leggings ; had the appearance of a farmer's son ; he employs a boy to drive sheep into market, and enters them to be sold by auction ; he is suspected to be the same man chargcd with stealing ten sheep on 12th August, 1876 ( see Police Gazette 23rd August. 1876), and for stealing fourteen Sheep, on 31st Jau, 1877 ; the first lot was found sold in Gloucester Market, the second in Hereford Market, both lots having been stolen in Here- fordshire, and both disposed of as abo e. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Philpott, Police Office, North- leach, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, March 27. Supposed stolen from Draycott Park, near Chippenham, since 1st instant : a chesnut mare Pony, about 12 hands high, rather aged, has a white mark on forehead, two white heels, and rather a greyish tail. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Baldwin, Chippenham, Wiltshire.— Bow- street, March 25. Stolen from a field at Yardley, on the morning of 22nd instant: a fat Sheep, black face, marked with the letter ' D. on the back, and a dot on the head, both with red raddle. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Simmons, Coleahiil, or to Inspector Prosser, Solihull, Warwickshire.— - Bow- street, March 25. Stolen during the night from Bray, Berks : a grey Gelding, about 7 years old, i( i hands high, carriage bred; sticks his head out, stands a little over at knees, has a little hair rubbed off on near hip and off shoulder ; a strong built Spring Cart, painted blue, wood axletree, and has chains to let the tailboard down ; a nearly new chaise Harness, brass mounted ; an old chaise Harness, brass mounted ; and a riding Saddle, marked ' R. H.' Information to be given to the Superin- tendent, Berks Constabulary, Maidenhead. — Bow- strcct, March 22. Stolen from a stable at Little Bolas, Hodnet, Salop, during the nigat of 19th instant; the property of Mrs. Ann Jennings : a grey hack Mare, aged, 15 hands 2 inches high, both knees broken, and fired on both hind legs ; also a (/' art Bridle. Infor nation to be given to Mr. Superintendent 2 Haines, of Whitchurch, or to Sergeant Owens, Wem, Salop. — Bow- st., March 22. Stolen aboat 1a. m., on 19th instant, from % stable and cart shed at Barley, Herts, the property of Mr. Downham : a chesnut well bred Mare, 3 years old, 14£ hands high, white face, sore shoulders, a fast trotter ; a dog Cart, dark picked out with red, ' Kent, Saffron Walden, Essex,' on caps of axle, nearly new, both moveable by a knob at back ; a set of silver mounted Harness, nearly new ; a riding Saddle and Bridle ; and 2 Sacks, supposed to have the name of Downham thereon. By a man, about 35 years of age, dark complexion ; dressed in dark coat, and low brown felt hat. Was traced through Ware and Tottenham, at the latter place about 6 a. m., going in the direction of London. At that time is supposed to have with him some fowls, stolen near Ware. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who will give information that will lead to the conviction of the offender, and recovery of the stolen property. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cocksedge, Boyston, Herts.— Bow- street, March 22. Stolen about 9 30 p. m., on 18th instant, from the premises of Charles Waller, at Meldreth, near Boyston : a roan nag Horse, since recovered. By JOHN MORRIS, of 32, Oldham street, Liverpool, 28 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 8$ inches iiigh, fresh complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, tuft on chin, and moustache, curled at ends, lost front teeth of top and bottom jaw, tattoo marks on left forearm of anchor and English and American flags crossed. And a man whose name is unknown, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly built, sandy whiskers and moustache of about a fortnights growth ; dressed in felt hat, brown overcoat, blue undercoat, black cloth waistcoat, with stand up collar, black scarf, with white stripe, and horse- shoe pin, and spring side boots. Both men came into the neighbourhood' by Great Northern tram, aud the man not in custody the same night also stole a Horse, Cart, and set of Harness, at Barley, Herts, and drove by way of Ware, to London. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Chesterton- road, Cambridge, or to Inspector Dade, Arrington, near Royston, Cambridgeshire.— Bow- street, March 22. LARCENY" AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Dundee, on 22nd instant, and wanted there on a sheriff's warrant for embezzling about £ 60, the property of a firm of railway carriers at Dundee, in whose employment he has been as collector for the last 12 years : PETER SOUTAR, a native of Forfarshire, 42 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, brown hair, thin light brown whiskers and moustache ; usually dressed in a dark tweed suit, with black felt hat. Was at one time a railway porter, and may try to get employment on a railway or with some carting agent. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Demar, Central Police Chambers, Dundee, Forfar.— Bow- street, March 29. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing money from the cash box at the County Gaol, in Ipswich, on 17th instant : GEORGE MOBBS, chief warder at the gaol, 45 years of age, looks older, 6 feet 2 inches high, grey hair, whiskers, and moustache, cut short, stout build, full eyes, red face, has a military appearance ; dressed when last seen in dark soft billycock hat, dark brown speckled coat and vest, blue overcoat and trousers ( uniform). Has been a warder at the Convict Prison at Borstal, Rochester. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Fisher, County Police Station, Ipswich, Suffolk.— Bow- street, March 29. Absconded on 22nd instant, from 68, Baker- street, Mary- lebone, stealing about £ 200 : a man, cashier and clerk, 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, very broad shoulders, stooping gait, and weighs 16 stone ; dressed in blue coat, grey trousers, and high hat.— Metropolitan Police, D Division, March 29. Description of WALTER WATTS, engine driver, who absconded from Soundwell on 27th ultimo, charged with two other men now awaiting their trial at the ensuing Quarter Sessions, at Gloucester, with breaking and entering a ware- house at Siston Hill and stealing 89 lbs. of Candles, 80 fowls' Eggs, a Hamper, half bushel of Indian Corn, and a Sack; the property of Sidney Hapton Hadley, Esq. He is 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light brown hair and whiskers, slight build, thin face, and sallow complexion; dressed in dark blue serge coat, fustian trousers and waist- eoat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Rawle, Fishponds, or to Sergeant Morley, Oldland Common, Glouces- tershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, March 29. Absconded since 8th instant. from his bail, charged with larceny : RANT JOHN SIMONDS, foreman butcher, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 incites high, da; k complexion, hair, eyes, and moustache ; dressed in butcher's coat, light trousers, lace boots, and billycock hat. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, D Division, March 27. Absconded on 19th ultimo, from 38, Esmaralda- road, Bermondsey, stealing £ 41 : a man, 54 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, beard, whis- kers, and moustache, turning grey ; dressed in dark brown overcoat, dark vest, and trousers, and high hat. Supposed gone to Coventry.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, March 27. Description of WILLIAM HASLAM, a clerk, who absconded on 21st instant, charged on a warrant with embez- zlement : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, sandy hair, light sandy whisker rather long, and moustache, surly looking, stumpy nose, large nostrils, scurvy on side of nose, and supposed pockmarked; dressed in a brown tommy hat, black ribbed coat and vest, and dark grey trousers. He walks as if his ankle was stiff, and is a native of Crich, Derbyshire. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Sheffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, March 27. Absconded from Newbury, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: JAMES KEDDIE, a Scotchman, a native of Langholm, Dumfries, lately employed as a packman or cloth hawker, 26 years of age, 6 feet 14 inch high, dark complexion, eyes, and hair, round thin figure, mole between eyebrows, mole on one cheek ( supposed the left), and a lance cut on left side of back of neck ; dressed in Scotch tweed check mixture suit, spotted necktie, and deerstalker hat, may be wearing an ulster coat; booked from Hungerford by the 8' 50 p. m. fast train to Paddington, on 23rd instant; likely to be heard of in the neighbourhood of Shoreditch, where he has an acquaintance a cabinetmaker, aiso a Scotchman, living in Curtain- street. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Bennett, Berks Constabulary, Newbury.— Bow- street, March 27. Absconded from Middlesbrough, on 25th instant, charged F O L IC E OA Z E T T E. with stealing a gold Watch, since found pledged : a woman, about- 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, fresh compiexion, and of good address ; dressed in a black stuff dress, trimmed with black velvet, black coarse cloth jacket, black bonnet, with palo green flowers in front, and carried a brown hair muff. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. — Bow- st., March 27. Absconded on 25th instant, from 54, Gower- street, stealing : a silver open- face Watch, ' Cameron and Co.' on works ; a small link- pattern gold plated neck Chain attached: the page boy, 15 years of age, 5 feet high, very fair com- plexion, light hair ; dressed in dark grey striped suit, black cloth cap with peak.-- Metropolitan Police, E Division, Mar. 27. Description of ALFRED BOWE, a tailor, who absconded from Dawlish, on 21st instant, charged on a warrant with stealing 3£ yards of brown Velveteen ; 8| yards of grey woollen tweed Cloth; 36 yards of black Braid ; a black cloth Coat and Vest ; the property of George Henry Luxton, of Dawlish. He is about 23 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, slight build, light hair and complexion, small light whiskers and moustache, lias lost his right leg, and walks with a crutch; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, dark brown trousers, and black bowler hat. He is likely to be found at common lodging- houses or low beer- houses,, where he may endeavour to work at his trade.
