He is charged with two others, already committed for trial, with feloniously robbing Jesse Osman. of 18s., and with personal violence at Bournemouth on 12th instant. Wanted on a charge of stealing a Horse ( recovered) the property of Mr. James Waite, of' Thorpe, near Easington, on the night of 13th instant : a man about 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, full red face, brown hair, cut short, dark ginger bushy whiskers and moustache, and stout figure ; dressed in a blue cotton jacket, light cloth trousers, light cap, the crown of which fastens down to the peak with a loop. Stolen between 10 p. m. on 13th and 9 a. m. on 20th . instant, from a stable at 16, Compton - mews, Brunswick- square : a dark bay Horse, aged, clipped trace high, 15 hands, white oft' high foot, scanty mane, short tail, scars of cracks oil heels of forefeet; four sets of Harness, minus one bridle and bit -- one pony's, silver plated, and three brass mounted.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 23. Stolen during the night of 18th instant, from General Phillips, J. P., at Bnmtwood : a black- faced yearling Shrop- shire Sheep, marked ' R. N. P.,' nearly worn off. Absconded, on 15th instant, stealing a Donkey and Cart from Ledbury,: a man about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark hair and complexion, a little whiskers on chili, grey jacket, black cloth vest, cord trousers, soft high crowned black hat; 7 or 8 blue marks on left arm, supposed to bo a tinker and umbrella mender. Black Donkey with light nose, hair rubbed off on top of neck, under collar ; Cart painted blue, with name of ' J. Absconded oil 18th instant, from a public- house, Gravel- lane, Saint Saviour's, stealing £ 14 :. the potman, 35 years of age, 5 fleet 5 inches high, thin face, fair complexion; fair hair and whiskers, slightly carroty ; efresSed in black suit, and: hard felt hat. — Metropolitan Police, M Division, January 23. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Borrow- in Funiess,. between 5.30 a. m. and 3 p. m. on. 19th instant: £ 8 in Gold :-. a silver lever Watch, maker ' Thomas Russell' on face and, works, No. 21282, had attached a curb pattern silver Albert, with Se- al, which has a red stone in it; and a red flowered silk Handkerchief. Suspicion attached to WM. DANIELS, a hammerman, who had lodged in the house,. and absconded on the morning of the robbery, 30- year^ of age, 5 feet 10 ins. high, pale complexion, dark hair.- i. tnd moustache, and a native of Swansea ; dressed in black cloth overcoat, with velvet collar, dark cloth vest, grey cloth or white moleskin trousers, black velvet cap, and lace- up boots. Two men were seen to leave the premises at a quarter to nine, each carrying a parcel ; thev were dressed in dark clothes and low round hats, and appeared to be about 25 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high. EOSSS AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen, on the 22nd instant, from Albion- street, King's « ' i'••-.- : a. dark bay Marc ; a sot of brass- mounted Harness;: LARCENY AID EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of THOMAS WINTER PRICE, late rate collector for the parish of St. Margaret's, Leicester, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : about 40 years of age. 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, very small light blue eyes, wears spectacles, thin featured, ruddy complexion, light sandy hair ( parted in centre), whiskers and moustache, and also wears a small tuft under lip, but he may now be clean shaved; is tattooed on one of his arms with the rose, shamrock, and thistle, and the letters ' E. B.' ; skin much freckled ; dressed when last seen in a rough blue Ulster overcoat, dark rougl mixture suit, and black soft billycock hat, which he wears i little on one side. He was formerly in the 60th Rifles, and is fond of talking upon Indian subjects ; is a good musician and plays the euphonium. A reward of .-£ 10 will be paid to any person who will give information that will lead to his. appre- hension. Absconded, on the 19th instant, from Tunbridge' Wells, charged on a warrant with stealing two pairs of women" new high- legged Button Boots ( one pair recovered) : a jour- neyman shoemaker, who gave the name of HARRY WILLIAMS, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, rather sandy hair, slight sandy whiskers and moustache, fair complexion, rather weak in the knees, and limps with the right leg when walking, dirty appearance, and is accompanied by a woman with an infant in arms. The boots not re- covered are a pair of high- leg kid, with nine buttons, high heels, and marked 8/ a. Information to be given to the Police Office, Tunbridge Wells, Ivent,.—/ low- street, Jan. 23 Stolen, on 11th instant, from Madley, a Blacksmith's j Apron, nearly new, bottom rounded out aud corners fringed : by a blacksmith, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale I face, light brown hair parted in centre, small light whiskers and moustache, globe mark on right arm ; dressed in dark coat ( torn on left breast), dark waistcoat and trousers, blue shirt, elastic side boots, aud black hat, all much worn ; gene- | rally put his hand to his mouth, and scrapes his throat before speaking. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent | Cope, Hereford, or Police Sergeant Phillips, Abbey Dore, ' near Hereford.— Bow- street, January 25. Stolen about 10th instant, from Llanveynoe Clodock : a dark brown Top Coat, double breasted, velvet collar, right pocket burnt, and a small patch put in place. Supposed by an Irishman, 52 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stoutly built, fresh complexion, grey hair aud clean shaved ; dressed in white slop, clean woollen cord trousers, dark hard hat, and strong heavy nailed boots ; is a labourer and tramps the country seeking work at farm houses, aud is supposed to be wearing the stolen coat. Information to bo given to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Hereford, or to Police Sergeant Phillips, Abbey Dore, Hereford. - Bow- strcct, January 25. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing Wear- ing Apparel.: JOHN BUTTON, 58 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, stout build, grey hair and whiskers, bald head ; dressed iu high hat, dark overcoat with velvet collar, Stolen during the night of lotli instant, from the Saddle-, room, Thorncliffe Hall, Hollingworth, Cheshire : a. pair of Top Boots, right boot broken at the side, tops not coloured : a pair of ankle Shoes, brass lace holes ; a pair of elastic- side Boots, with toecaps and pearl buttons ; a black cloth livery- Coat, buttons close to the neck, black clbtli buttons,, two pockets with flaps outside and one inside; a 1 slack sleeved Waistcoat; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fly fronts ns> t lined ; a blue cloth driving Coat,, straight back, torn under the right arm, lined with small black and white check phi id.; a black nudger Hat; two Towels; a pair of now black kid Gloves : an old blue pilot cloth Jacket; an old black Macintosh, ripped at back of neck. The stolen black cloth Coa. i, Trousers, aaA Waistcoat have been found pledged, at Oldham, by a man. i'x years of age, about 5 feet high, dark completion, stonfe. and whiskers round face. Stated he was going to ' Slater's,' who is either a coach proprietor or livery- stable- keoper at Manchester, to seek work, and was wearing the stolen bhip driving coat and hat. Information to ke given to Deputv Chief Constable Arrowsmith, Hyde, or to Sergeant Walker, Police Station, Mottram, Cheshire.— Bow- street, January, 2;).. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement of £ 100 : JOHN MAWER, about 00 years of age, 5 feet 7 or S. inches high, stout build, weight about 10 stone, large whiskers, beard and moustache, grey ( nearly white), which mav have- been shaved off", full round face, and bald head. Has for many years kept a public- house in Hull, and was. agent for a Sheffield Brewery Company. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire, -— lio- ic- street, Jan. 2S., Absconded from Lincoln, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 20, belonging to his employers, the Lincolnshire Chronicle Company: a clerk, about .20, years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, parted down centre, and lost left thumb ; dressed in hard round billy hat, long dark blue overcoat, dark trousers, woiirs a muffler, and carries a carpet bag. LEWIS, charged with stealing a silver lever Watch, a gold Guard, and Seal, the propertof Mr, William James, at North R isca, on 15th instant, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued ; the watch and guard have been found pledged in Aberdare ; he in " 32 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout figure, dark heavy moustache, no whiskers; dressed in a dark serg » jacket, buttoned at top, thick slop underneath, greasy mole- skin vest, supposed cord trousers, and hard bowler hat ; he is a fitter by trade, and a native of Pentyrch, Glamorganshire, where ho has a wife and two children. Information to bo given to Mr. Superintendent Foll, Monmouth Constabulary, Tredegar, or to Sergeant Hale, Blackwood, Monmouthshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.- — Ben'- street, January 23. Absconded on 17tli instant, from 145, Longham, Ber- mondsey, embezzling about £ 20 : a man, 37 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair, light mous- respectablc appea rance. Has friends iu Birmingham, Birkcu- taehe ; dressed in old blue overcoat, white slop under, dark t tweed trousers, black cap witli peak, and is a carman.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, January 23. Absconded on 15tli instant, from 27, Berners- street, St, Marylebone, - embezzling £ 5 : a man, clerk, 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in dark tweed suit, dark blue over- coat, velvet collar, high black hat, and of gentlemanly appear- ance.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 23. Absconded ' on 18th instant, from Thornton Heath, Croydon, embezzling £ 5 : a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in black pilot jacket, black cloth trousers, and cap.— Metropolitan Police, W Division, January 23. Stolen from a bedroom at the ' Bull's Head' inn, in Audenshaw, between 6 and 7 p. m. on 18th instant: £ 31 10s. in Silver: a patent lever silver Watch, white dial, sunk seconds, engine- turned cases; a gold albert Guard, snake pattern, attached a pendant in swivel, dark green on one side, and plain glass on the other, with three small dice inside ; a lady's patent lever silver Watch, silver faced, sunk seconds, engine- turned cases, small size, maker James Bryan, Stock- port, No. 3965 ; a long gold Guard, square pattern, a small flower or dot in each link, a small plain gold oval Locket attached. Suspicion is attached to a man, about 27 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, tuft of dark hair on chin ; dressed in brown striped coat, aud black felt hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ludlam, Police Office, Wilshaw, near Ashton- under- Lyne. — Bow- street, January 23. Description of a man who gave the name of WILLIAM DAVIS, supposed to be a native of Lancashire, who ab- sconded from Wells on 15th instant, charged with stealing- a blue cloth Reefer Jacket ( recovered) and a faded red and yellow cotton Handkerchief, the property of George Henry Cox, a fellow lodger : he is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and whiskers at the sides of face, shaves top lip and chin, square shoulders, and walks erect; dressed in old black cloth jacket ( much faded), brown sleeved waistcoat, light cord trousers, light faded handkerchief round neck, and white soft bowler hat with black band round it, or black bowler hat, and Cossack boots heavily clumped. He stated that he had been a soldier, and it is supposed that he is a deserter, as lie left a shirt at his lodgings branded ' W. Davis, R. A., 1876,' and some other figures which have been defaced. He will likely seek employ- ment at stone- breaking. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bisgood, Somerset Constabulary, Glaston- bury ; or to Sergeant Vowles, Wells, who holds a warrant for his apprehension — Bow- street, January 21. Absconded on 14th instant, from Kilburn, stealing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, and £ 3 3s. 6d. in Gold and Silver : a man, tailor," 21 years of age,- 5 feet G inches high, dark com- plexion and hair; dressed in long black Ulster, plaid suit, hard felt hat, and carried a silver watch and chain ; _ is a native of Yeovil, Somerset.- Metropolitan Police, X Division. January 21. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzling various rams of Money belonging to his employers, on 1st instant : LEONARD STEPHEN DICKENSON, late manager to the Butchers' Hide and Skin Company ; he is about 34 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, thin, black ' hair, whiskers, beard and moustache, unshaven, has a slight impediment in his speech,•' or ' lisps on commencing a conversation; has rather a short quick step and rolling- gait; dressed in a brown suit, with blue overcoat, and top hat ; resided at lodgings at the top of Constitution Hill, Birmingham. A reward of £ 50 will be paid for such information as shall lead to his apprehension. Information to be given to Major Bond, Chief of Police, Birmingham. — Bow- street, January 21. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : A. R. COOGAN, late of 7, Orchard- street, Kensington, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, slight dark whiskers, sallow complexion, and stoops a little ; dressed respectably, usually wears a round hat, and is a clerk. May be accom- panied by his wife and a child, G months old. Mrs. Coogan is a tall, line woman, about 34 years of age, speaks broken English, and is supposed to be a German lady. Information" to be given to the Inspector, City of London Police, Detective Department, 20, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, January 21. Description of CIIARLE& BATES, for whose appre- hension a warrant has been issued at Hastings, for stealing a pair of Trousers and a pair of Boots, at Hastings, on 9th instant : he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, stout figure, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in a white slop, cord vest and trousers, and billycock hat ; is a carter, and a native of Kent. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, Sussex. — Bow- street, January 21. Wanted, at Dumfries, on a charge of theft, committed on 5th ultimo, property recovered : CATHERINE GORMAN, 35 years of age, 4 feet 11 inches high, black hair, dark eyes, pale ftice, has a number of deep lines on skin of forehead, and proportionate make ; dressed, when last seen, in black stuff dress, having one or two flounces, grey coloured shawl, and black bonnet. She is a native of Dumfries, and a returned convict, but is now tramping the country, and when last seen was gaing towards England. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Dumfries. — Bow- street, January 21. Absconded, stealing from Ayr about £ 56 of the Foresters' Society ; RICHARD BROWN, shoemaker, about • 12 years of age, 5 feet G inches, or thereby, high, stoutish make, fair hair, beginning to turn grey, thin fair whiskers and moustache, much pockpitted, round full face, sharp nose, slight halt, right foot intoed and rather deformed, walks erect; is thought to bo a native of Ireland, but has been mostly brought up in Yorkshire, and speaks with a broken accent; dressed in a dark tweed suit., blue topcoat, and soft felt hat. He was Secretary for the Ayr District of the Foresters' Society, uplifted this money on the 14th instant, and absconded with it on 15th. A warrant has- been granted for his apprehension. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent M'Donald, Police Chambers, Ayr. — Bow- Ktreet, January 21. rrxomss. ( Sot otherwise described.) Absconded, charged with committing a rape upon Jessie Povey, 9 years of age, at Hoole, on 29th ultimo : HENRY DODD, a baker, a native of Boughton, Chester, 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, pale complexion, round fade, light brown hair, beardless, both eye teeth very large and prominent, and rather round shoulders; dressed in black or dark cloth coat, white moleskin or brown cloth trousers, black hard felt hat, and laee- up boots. Supposed to have gone to Birkenhead or Liverpool. Information to be given to Detective Inspector Williamson, County Police Office, 110, Foregate- street, Chester^ jsho holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 21. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of WILLIAM WILLIAMS : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and eyes, medium build, tattooed on left arm ' R.
