Description of GEORGE MARSHALL EARLE, remanded at Easingwold until 28th instant, charged with attempting to murder Police Constable Charles Bell, near Easingwold, on the night of 20th instant. He is 42 years of age, 5 feet 6j inches high, brown hair, whiskers, beard and moustache, fresh complexion, crooked nose, and proportionate build; dressed in pilot cloth jacket, black cord jicket under- neath, woollen cord trousers, soft black billycock hat, and strong lace- up boots. States he is a gardener, a native of York, and has a wife living at Bramley uear Leeds; travels the country with a dark dun- coloured pony and a heavy cart. He was convicted at Easingwold in April, 1869, and sen- tenced to 2 months imprisonment, at Northallerton Gaol, for larceny. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hunter, North Riding Constabulary, He worth, or to Inspector Ellerby, Easingwold, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, December 24. Found on the afternoon of 2nd instant, in the Steyne Gardens, Worthing, the dead body of a newly- born full- grown Female Child, wrapped in a piece of old black maroon, and tied in a piece of old black alpaca. The Child had been dead about 10 days. At the Coroner's Inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons,' was found. A reward of £ 50 will be paid by Her Majesty's Govern- ment to any person, other than a person belonging to a police force in the United Kingdom, who shall give such informa- tion and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ;' and the Home Secretary will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like rasult. Stolen during the night of 31st ultimo, from a dwelling- house at Derby, by means of burglariously breaking therein ; a grey coloured Overcoat, large siz?, with light coloured grey lining, grey velvet collar, one large and one small pocket on right side, and one large pocket on left, ' Lloyd' on strap on collar; a black dress Coat, single- breasted, two pockets in laps behind, and a small pocket on right hand side in front; a pair of men's worsted Drawers, nearly new; a pair of men's worsted Stocking-!; a brown silk umbrella, with round knob, has ' M' cut on it; a pair of men's lace- up Boots, part laces holes, and part hooks ; a pair of lad/ a grey Stockings; a brown felt hat, ' Mr. McDonald' written inside; also a lady's black cloth Jacket, with a double row of buttons down front, and a pocket on each side, has a email black bow on each pocket, quite new. Between 6 a. m. and 5 p. m. on 10th instant, the daelling- house of Thomas Tyler, at Laysters, Middleton- on- the- Hill, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a grey Jacket, much worn under the arms, the lining torn in ssveral places, two pockets outside, and ore inside breast pocket; a calico Shirt; a Collar ; and 3s. 9d. in Money. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, and sandy whiskers round chin; dressed in cord trousers and wealing stolen jicket; looks like a labourer. On the night of 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of William Kirkpatrick, Forest Hill, near Penrith, was bur- glariously entered, and Four £ 5 Notes and Ten Sovereigns stolen therein. About 1* 30 p. m. on 25th inst., the Rev. F. C. Beaumont, of Lichfield, was assaulted and robbed of a red Russia Purse, containing £ 7 in Gold and some Silver, whilst riding on horse back, between Swinfen and Lichfield : by three men, one of whom is about 28 years of age, short, dark complexion . and moustache, supposed to have a beard, and wearing a dark billycock. Can give no description of the other men, only that one of them had a bundle wrapped in blue and white spotted handkerchief, and each had a stick; they ran off across the fields in the direction of Tamworth. During the night of 21st instant, a yearling Ram, the property of Mr. William Holder, of Bayston, Salop, was felonioutly stolen fiom out of a field at Bayston Hill, and afterwards slaughtered in the neighbourhood and the skin and head attached, has since been found hidden in a culvert under the Shrewsbury and Hereford Railway, near Bayston Hill. Stolen from a field near Sutton Park, Shenstone, during the night of 23rd instant: a yearling Lamb, with black legs and face. Found at Dordon, near Atherstone : a bay cart Filly, 2 years old, hind fetlocks white, white star on forehead, mark down nose, in good condition, and unshod. Absconded, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: JOHN PARKER, 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, dark hair and eyes, small dark whiskers and moustache, smart uppearance, and slight impediment in his speech; dressed in long dark overcoat, and dark trousers. Information to be given to the Inspector on Duty, Snow Hill Station, London.— Bow- street, January 4. Description of GEORGE ARTHUR MAYNARD, a theatrical writer, who has absconded, charged at Stockton- on- Tees, with stealing a quantity of Wearing Apparel from a dwelling- house, on 21st ultimo : he is about 23 years of age, 5 ftei 5 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, little or no whiskers, has a mole on one side of nose, slender build, and generally wears a ring on left little finger. Ha pledged part of the stolen property at York on the day of the robbery, and is supposed to have gone further South. Will be likely to be found in the company of theatrical performers, to most of whom he is well known. Maynard, when at Stockton, was accompanied by a fashionably dressed female. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Leaper, Spalding, or Inspector Ward, Holbeach, Lincolnshire, who holds warrant for his apprehension.— Bow street, January 4, Stolen about 6 p m,, on 2ad instant, from the shop of Mr. Nelson, watch maker, Bridge- street, Stafford : A silver Eaglish lever Watch, No. 110, open face, dirk figures, gold hands, and large size. An open faced gold Lever ( second hand) and flower on inside case. A lady's gold Geneva, small sizs and engine- turned case. Two silver Genevas, open faced. Also a few Bilver plated Chains. By a man ( supposed tramp), about 35 years of age, 5 ft. 8 ins, high; dressed in dark jicket and cap, yellow cord trousers, tight fitting, and heavy boots. He ca t be identified. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Dartford, about 8 a. m. on 1st instant: a large old- fashioned silver Watch, hour hand broken. By a man who lodged in the house on the night of 31st ultimo, he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 ins. high, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in grey mixture coat, dark cloth trousers, hard black felt hat, and blucher boots. He carried a brown paper parcel, stated he was a plumber by trade, and belonged to Reading where his wife and daughter about 14 years of age resided. Absconded on 28th ultimo, from 12, Catherine- street, Strand, stealing £ 12 in Gold and Silver : the porter, 30 yrs. of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, slight moustache, and no whiskers ; dre » sed in light coat and trousers, and round hard felt hat. Absconded, charged with stealing from liis lodgings, the ' Tivoli Ale and Porter Stores,' Cheltenham, on 30th ultimo : about 5i. in Silver and Copper ; an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, white dial with a piece chipped off, and one hand missing ; a silver Pencil Case ; ai d a gold plated Brooch, set with three small blue stones in a buckle : a man, 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, small light brown whiskers, shaved on chin with Elight moustache ; dressed in a light grey coat and vest light woollen cord trousers, stout strong lace- up boots, light grey round bowler hat, covered with light alpaca, long daik rough ulster coat; he is wearing a long single linked silver Albert chain, with an oval- shaped silver Locket attached, two large gold rings, one set with a white stone, and the other a dark red stone, generaily carries a small ash stick and states he is a horse dealer. He is supposed to be the same man as gazetted on 8th June, 1877, for a jewel robbery at Alcester, Warwickshire, also for stealing a Horse and Trap at Oxford, in April last. Description of EDWARD BAKER, a clerk, wanted on • warrant for crabs zz'ing Money, belonging to his late employ rs at Seaat mbe, near Birkenh ai : he is about 28 yrs. of. ago, looks moth older, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark brown hair and whiskers, shaves the chin, walks very much on his heels as if from bad feet; dressed in black frock cloth coat, diity brown cloth trousers, old- fashioned silk bat, bell top, and elastic side boots ; was last heard of in Manchester. Stolen from a beerhouse at Sharples, between 6 and 11pm, 28th instant: a mans blue ribbed cloth Jacket, with b'aok velvet collar, and dark grey lining, four pockets outside, • with flips, one inside left breast, and black horn buttons, a cat in lining near the inside pocket; a moleskin Vest, recovered ; a pair of moleskin Trousers, with white bone buttons, drab lining, which is loose at bottom of legs ; and a pair of EiCii's white woollen ribbed Stockings, all in good condition. Supposed by two men who bad the appearance of tramps, one about 30 years of age 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in dark shabby cloth clothes. Supposed to be a tramping licensed hawker recently come from Accrington, a'id he pledged the vest at Bolton. The other about 30 years of age, 5 feat 5 e r 6 inches high, pockpitted ; deessed in dark clothes. The clothes were packed in a blue check bundle handkerchief, and had a stiap round with brass buckle. Stolen from the ' White Swan Inn,' Newark, on the night of 24th instant: a lady's gold Ei glish lever Watch, No. 18092, and gold Guard, with a small gold Barrel con- taining a white Stone at each end attached ; also £ 20 in Gold and Silver Coin. Supposed to have been stolen by two navvies, one of whom is in custody ; the other is about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, stout make, broad features, brown hair, large ginger whiskers and beard; dressed in a light soft cap or billy, white slop, moleskin trousers mended at one knee ( supposed the right), and heavy boots.
