He was seen in the Staffordshire Potteries, going towards Burslem, on the morning of 3rd instant. He has relatives employed in coal pits, where he may seek employment. Stolen from the person of Mr. John White, while attend- ing the October fair at Maidstone, on 17th instant: a single case gold Watch, with ' J. W.' on back, maker Rawson, Liverpool. Stolen from the person of Mr. John Bond, on the high- way near Salisbury, on the evening of lQth instant: about 15s, ; a single case gold Watch, ' J. B.' engraved on case ; a heavy gold Albert Chain, with long links, Locket and a two dollar gold Austrian Coin attached ; a gold Ring, with stone, and ' J. B.' engraved on it; and a massive masonic Ring. By a man, 27 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, floiid com- plexion, light sandy moustache, no whiskers, and square shoulders ; dressed in light plaid trousers and vest, rough ulster coat, dirty drab colour, no band at waist, hard billy- cock hat; had with him a gig whip, and a large sized carpet bag. During the night of I7th instant, the dwelling- house and shop of George Gillson, grocer, Ickleton, Cambs, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a light drab dust Coat; an eight- day Timepiece, in black case ; a lady's black and white mixture waterproof Cloak; five electro Tea and one Caddy Spoon, much worn ; a small electro- plated Mug, gilt inside; a Bottle of Gin; two ale Glasses; 3lbs. of Tobacco; a seed Cake, £ quartern ; and a small piece of Cheese. Between 10 p. m. on 7th and 7 a. m. on 8th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Brooks, grocer, of Great Milton, near Oxford, was burglariously broken and entered and stolen therein : a double breasted witney Overcoat, with black velvet collar, ' Foster and Co.', on band, and a pair of watertight Boots. About 2 a. m. on 14th instant, the house of Mrs. Sarah Ann Davies, of No. 5, St. Mark's- terrace, Wrexham, was burglariously entered, and stolen therein : two gentleman's gold Rings, one set with a bloodstone, the other with a plain green stone ; four gentleman's Sleeve Links and four ditto Studs; a lady's gold Ring, set with ruby and turquoise; three gold Brooches, get with stones ; a gold Brooch, set, with pearls and ruby ; a silver Brooch, set with emerald ivy leaf ; a « ed morocco Purse, containing two £ 5 Bank of England Notes, £ 6 10s. in Gold, and 9d. in Silver; an I. O. U. for £ 2, Bi'gned ' Annie Adliam ;' and from £ 20 to £ 30 in Gold, out ol a cash box. Supposed by two men, dressed in working clothes, with their faces disguised with masks. During the night of 11th instant, the dwelling house of Mr. D. H. Hutchence, of Well- place, PenBhurst, was burglariously entered, and stolen therein : £ 37 in Gold and Silver, and 6 silver Spoons, marked ' C. S.' Farther information respecting the cottage broken into at the Old Park, Salop, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 11th June last :— Part of the stolen property is recovered, and a warrant is issued against JOHN HENRY BISHOP, alias ' STAFFORDSHIRE JACK,' a miner, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, rather slender make, full face and very brown, large ears, dark hair, and may have a slight moustache; dresBed when he absconded in dirty working clothes, white flannel shirt, cloth cap with peak, and clogs; supposed a native if Church Bridge, Staffordshire, and may be working there or in Derbyshire. Stolen from a field at the Meir, near Loagton, on 10th instant: a dark brown Mare, 15 hands high, 7 years old, in good condition, white streak down the face, white off hind foot, saddle mark on near side, long mace and tail, the latter bushy. £ 1 reward will be paid by the owner, Mr. John Palin, of Longton, for such informatioa as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. JAMES WOOD, advertised in Police Gaz » tte of 4th May, 1877, charged with stealing a Horse « t Hellingly, Sussex, has been apprehended and committed for trial. Information to be given at the Police Office, Hailsham, Sussex.— Bow- street, October 19. Absconded from Coventry, charged with stealing a Horse and Gig, recovered, the property of Mr. Field, 148, Belgrave- road, Birmingham, on 4th instant: a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, stout j build, dark whiskers and moustache, inclined sandy, of smart appearance ; dressed in black ribbed vest and jacket, pockets on hips, l'ght checked trous; rs, old high silk hat, gold Guard, with white Seal attached, He obtained the Horse and Gig by representing himself to be EDMUND PALMER, a com- ! mercial traveller, and drove at once to Coventry, at which I place he disposed of the property. Description of GEORGE WOOLLETT, charged on warrant with stealing a Pony, recovered, the property of • J. Butler, at Shadowhurst, Kent, on 27th ultimo : he is 26 to i 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light complexion, i few light or sandy whiskers on sides of face and chin, had a ! piece of rag on one finger of right hand ; dressed in light | worsted cord trousers, light coat, black billycock hat; has I the appearance of a farmer's son, and is likely to be found at | cattle markets or fairs. Description of GEORGE CREW, of Inglesham Common, Sodbury, Gloucestershire, charged under a warrant with horse stealing, at East Dean, Gloucestershire, on 5 li ultimo : he ia 35 years of age, 5 feet Of inch high, brown hair, hazei eyes, fresh complexion, equare race, high cheek bones, top of third finger left hand injured, sjar on left foot and on back ; he has worked on the Cheltenham and Banbury Railway / lie was convicted at Warminster, ( Wilts) Sessions, 1st July' 1868, and sentenced to 7 years penal Servitude for house- breaking. Stolen from a field at Baguley, on the night of 8th inst 22 Lambs, the property of Mr. Joseph Kinsey, farmer which were sold in the Salford Cattle Market, early on the follow- ing morning, by a man of the following description • " from 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion and hair, rather large black whiskers, nearly covering cheekp turning grey, large prominent forehead, eyes sunken, large bushy eyebrows, and stoops a little ; dressed in mixture coat and vest, pepper- and- salt, cord uioy trousers, black billycock hat, and coloured muffler round neck ; has the appearance of a Scotch drover, but speaks with the Cheshire or Stafford- shire dialect. Gave the name of HENRY WILSON supposed fictitious. Information to be given to Mr Super' 2 POLICE GAZETTE. November 16 intendent Aston, Sessions House, Altrincham, or to Sergeant Nield, Constabulary Office, Sale, Cheshire. — Baw- street, October 17. Description of JOHN TEMPEST, alias ADAMS, who absconded from Sheffield, on 13th instant, charged with stealing a chestnut Mare, Dog Cart, and set of Harness ( since recovered), and for whose apprehension a warrant is issued : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, round full face, dark eyes and hair, had little short black whiskers on sides of face, which may now be shaved off; dressed in a mingled grey coat and vest, black trousers, elastic- side boots, and tall hat. He was accompanied by a woman, about 19 years of age, pale complexion, round features, dark hair and eyes ; dressed in dark brown dress, piped with another shade of brown, round hard felt hat. and small shawl. They had with them a small black Dog, '. which answers to Dutchy.; Information to be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Central Police Offices, Sheffield, Yorks — Bow- street, October 17. Found at Worfield, on 11th instant, and supposed stolen : two Cows, Hereford breed, one 5 yeara old, and the other one aged. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Christie, Bridgnorth, or to P. O. ( 11), Briggp, Worfield, Salop.— Bow- street, October 15. Stolen from a field at Radcliffe, during the night of 7th instant: a brown Horse, hands high, white mark oil face, black legs, and stands over on off foreleg. Also from a field at Tottington Lower End. daring the night of 11th instant: a brown or dark bay Fare 15 hands high, 7 years old, small white spot behind let; shoulder, without shoes, rough coat with running out and- has a little white, back of off foreleg under knee. Information to be given to Mr, Superintendent Milne, County Police Office, Bury, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 15. Stolen from a paddock at Malmesbury, on the night of 26th ultimo, the property of Joseph Gray : a 3- year old roan short horn Heifer, marked with two letters on the near horn. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Luffman, Police Station, Malmesbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, October 15. Charged on a warrant with stealing a Horse ( recovered), at Kemaii g, on 5th instant: WILLIAM ROWLAND, 18 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, slight moustache; aresaed in brown jacket, black and yellow btriped vest, dark mixture trousers, soft felt hat, old lace boots. He sella clothes lines, & c„ and holds a pedlar's certificate granted by Superin- tendent Rogers, of Reigate. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent.— Bow- street, October 15. Stolen since noon on 10th instant, from a field at Sea- bridge : a bay Horse, aged, 16 hands high, black legs, with some hair off near hind fetlock, a little white on off hiiid foot, in very good condition, and tail cut tquar?. £ b reward will be paid by the owner Mr. Tittensor, for such information as Bhall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen from a stable at Branbridge's Wharf, East Peck- ham, Kent, during the night of 10th instant : a brown horse Colt, nearly 14 hands high, rising 4 years old, nearly through- bred, scar on near hind fetlock, the property of Mr. Frederick Spencer. Stolen from George Fullard, at Chase Town, on 15th instant : a dark grey plaid Jacket, single- breasted, two pockets outside and one inside left breast, and part worn. By JAMES BRADBURY, alias LEES, miner, and a lodger, 31 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, face badly pockpitted and very brown, grey eyes, curly auburn hair parted down centre, no whiskers, light moustaihe; dressed in dark cloth jacket and vest, dark striped trousers, and dark cap. He has served j 10 years in the Army, has relatives at Leicester, and is a j native of Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Information to be given Superintendent Purchase, Borough Police Office, Reading, Berkshire.— Bow- street, October 17. Absconded on 15th instant, from No. 202, Tottenham- court- road, stealing about £ 10 : a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, and top joints of first two fingers deficient; dressed in a dark cutaway eoat, light vest, dark trousers, tweed hat, and lace boots. Supposed gone to Stockport, Cheshire, where his father keeps a public- house. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, October 17. Absconded from Durfold, Wigmore, on 8th instant, charged with stealing five live tame Fowls, ( four recovered), the property of Isaiah Lloyd Watkins : EDWARD DAVIES, native of Durfold, 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, some whiskers, grey eyes, walks erect; dressed in grey mixture suit, hard low- crowned hat, elastic- side boots, with buttons on, had with him a dark jacket, double- breasted vest, and dark cord trousers ; supposed to have gone to Wenlock, Ironbridge, or some part of Staffordshire. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dykes, County Police Station, Leominster, or to P. S. Philpotts, Police Station, Wigmore, Hereford- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, October 17. Stolen on the night of 15th instant, supposed by a woman who entered the shop cf Mr. Cornell, jeweller, Bank- street, Maidstone, and asked to look at some rings, soon after which a man entered, and asked to see a watch key, when the woman immediately left, taking with her a half- hoop diamond Ring, with five large stones and small sparks at the end o: corner stone : sh8 is about 5 feet 2 inches high, slightly pockpitted, and wore a black hat. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Police Office, Maidstone, Kent.- Bow- street, October 17. Description of ELIZABETH CORNER, who absconded from Middlesborougb, charged with stealing two twilled calico Chemises, one made plaiD, the other with edging round neck, a union Table Cloth, and a black quilted Petticoat : she is a native of Normanby, near Eston, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, proportionate figure, fieah com plexion, dark hair and eyes, and round face; dressed in black dress, blue cloth jacket, black bonnet, and dark fur round her neck. She is accompanied by her husband Stephen Corner, grocer's assistant or traveller, 33 years of age, 5 feet 6 incheB high, proportionate figure, round shouldered, fresh complexion, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in blue cloth shooting coat and vest, black cloth trousers, and billycock hat; he occasionally hawks Tea. She has been previously convicted at Stockton. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middles- borough, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for her apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, October 15. Description of GEORGE HUNT, a watch and clock cleaner, charged on a warrant with stealing a silver lever Watch, the property of Thomas Watkiss, and absconded from Shifnal on 21st ultimo : he is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 1 inch high, stout build, dark complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, small, is very deaf, has large full eyes, walks lame on one leg; dressed in a dark brown cloth jacket, pockets on hips, and much worn, a single breasted veat of the same materia), cotton cord trousers, lace up shoes, Oxford twill shirt, black and white scaif, and round hard felt hat; carries a small black leather bag which contains his tools. Had also an old- fashioned silver hunter top verge Watch, ' Joseph E. Butler' engraved on inside case, and a dent on the outer case, a silver albert Chain attached, withtilver Key with yellow stone in one end, and a ailver lever Watch, with gold coloured face, and seconds hand.
