VOITNDIIG Further description of JOHN BEESTON, junior, advertised in the Police Gazette of 3rd inst., who abscended from Newport, Salop, charged with unlawfully wounding William Hubble: 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, black hair, very little black whiskers, commenced to grow on chin, thin black moustache, thick black eyebrows, small dark eyes, and teeth all decayed in front; dressed in long dark overcoat, probably an ulster, dark cloth undercoat, vest, and trousers, much worn. He was seen in the Stafiordshire Potteries, going towards Burslem, on the morning of 3rd instant. He hus relatives employed in coal pits, where he may seek employment. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Waterson, Newport, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 12. Wedd, Esq. : a small old- fashioned diamond Brooch, oval shape; a diamond Pendant, ruby centre and drop ; diamond Ear- rings, long shape, old- fashioned setting ; a seed pearl Necklace; a maltese Cross ; Ear- rings on velvet; a small gold Cross, engraved, with Chain; a gold Bracelet, cable pattern ; a gold band Bracelet, engraved ; a gold band Bracelet, centre set with turquoise, with ' J.' in old English character, opening with photo of lady inside ; a very large cameo Bracelet, with relief of Jupiter, Juno, and Mercury ; a pink coral and diamond Bracelet, with pale blue enamel • with Ear- rings to match; two gold Lockets, with dark blue enamel and diamond points; a gold flexible band Bracelet; a gold Necklace, cable pattern, with large gold Locket hanging on it, with ruby in centre ; a large Ring, set with diamonds and sapphire centre; and amythist Brooch and Ear- rings, set in gold. Supposed by three men : one about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in black coat and trousers, and billycock hat; another about 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high ; dressed in long black overcoat, with band round waist, and high crowned hat; and the other about 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion ; dressed in black cloth jacket and trousers, and felt hat. During the night of 8th instant, the dwelling house of Dr. Blythe, of Whitchurch, Oxon, was burglariously entered and Btolen therein : a grey Overcoat - with velvet collar; a fancy black cloth Jacket; two pairs fancy brown silk Socks; tooth Instruments in Cas9 ; two separate tooth Instruments ; several silver Catheters; apothecaries' Scales, complete, with Box in an oak Box with Weights; one £ 5 Note; two Sovereigns; one Half- Sovereign ; a quantity of Silver and Copper Monies ; and some Post and Receipt Stamps. Sup- posed by two men, one about 5 feet 8 inches high ; dressed in a long dark coat, and round hat. The other was a shorter man. Both of fair complexion. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Coates, Police Station, Henley- on- Thames, Oxon,— Bow- street, October 10. Stolen by housebreaking, on 2nd instant, between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m., the property ot James Breach, of Ninfield: a black cloth reefer Jacket, pockets at sides and one inside left breast, black Vest, and a black Necktie, nearly new, a pair of old elastic- side Boots, 1 lb. of pickled Pork, cooked, \ lb. of Tea, J lb. of Sugar, and a piece of Bread. Supposed by two tramps, one about 30 years of age, short and stout; dressed in dark jacket, and billycock hat. The other about 30 years of age, short and stout, with whiskers and moustache ; dressed in light slop or jacket, and old cap. One is probably wearing the stolen boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superintendent Jenner, Court House, Battle, Sussex,— Bow- street, October 8. About 4 p m. on 4th instant, the Barnstaple Lodge, Castle Hill, Felleigh, Devon, was entered during the absence of the inmates, and one Sovereign and four Half- Sovereigns in a small old- fashioned brass Box, and about £ 1 in Silver in a small slate- coloured lining Purse, stolen therein. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Wood, B Division, Devon Constabulary, South Molton. — Bow- street, October 8. Stolen by means of housebreaking, between 10 and 11 a. m. on 5th instant, at Rotherfield, the property of Wm. Unsted: a small silver Geneva Watch, with steel chain attached; about £ 7 10s. in Gold and Silver; and a Bilver pair- case verge Watch, maker H. Kemp, Mayfield, with a German silver chain attached. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, to Sergeant Avory, Mark Cross, or at any Police Station in East Sussex - Bow- street, October 8. Between 11' 30 p. m. 25th and 7 a. m. on 26th ultimo, the cottage of George Cross, labourer, Middle Fen, Ely, was broken and entered ( by pushing back the fastening of the window) and stolen therein: a blue pilot Jacket, double- breasted, with [ velvet collar, bound with braid, black bone buttons, one off left side, pockets on outside of left breast and on hips, lined with black twill, in the pockets were a white pocket handkerchief, a scarlet and white scarf, a meerschaum cigar- holder, and a cocoanut; part of a blade bone of Pork and an apple Pie ( cooked). Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Smith, Ely, Cambs.— Bow- street, October 5. Stolen by means of housebreaking between I and 5 p. m. on 28th ultimo, at Heathfield, the property of Edwin Meads: seven silver Spoons, marked ' A. M.' in old English; a small old- fashioned silver Watch, with a small glass about the siz9 of a shilling; a gold Eye- glass ; a gold Locket, with hair ; a very old- fashioned silver plated Chain ; a very small gold Pencil- case ; a gold Albert Chain ; a very large gold Brooch, ! has a likeness on one side, and hair on the other ; a pair of plated gold Ear- rings and Brooch to match ; a jet Necklace ; [ a Sovereign ; 10s. in Silver ; a gold Ring ; a small gold Brooch, with hair, has ' John Smith' engraved on back. ; Supposed by a young man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light complexion, pale face, and slight figure ; I dressed in black trousers, brownish coat, brown billycock hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ball, West Riding Constabulary, Yorkshire.— Bmo- st., October 10. Stolen during the night of 28th ultimo, from a stable in Spring Vale, the property of Mr. Arthur Arm, butcher, Sun- street, Birmingham : a dark brown mare Cob, about 14 hands higb, slightly short winded, a few grey hairs on rump, cut tail, aged, has a crupper mark on back ; also a set of Harness, saddle brass mounted, nearly new, bridle and aims silver- plated ; and a riding Saddle and Bridie. Also from a coach- house situate in Sir Harry's- road, Edgbaston, the property of Mr. Joseph Aird, Earn Lodge : a dark green- coloured Gig, painted white inside, wheels striped, dark green cushions, leather dash-' ooaid, worn from feet marks, ' J. A.' painted on back, maker's name at Leamington on box of wheels ; a travelling Rug, black on one side, and various colours on the other ; and a waterproof Apron, black colour. £ 5 reward will be paid by Mr. Arm and Mr. Aird to any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and the recovery of the horse and property. Stolen from a stable at Branbridge's Wharf, East Peck- ham, Kent, during the night of 10th instant : a brown horse Colt, nearly 14 hands high, rising 4 years old, nearly through- bred, scar on near hind fetlock, the property of Mr. Frederick Spencer. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hulse, Police Station, West Malling, Kent.— Bow- street, 1 October 12. ! Found at Shroton, Dorsetshire, on 27th ultimo, and : supposed stolen: a roan colour yearling short- bora bred Ball. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Grant, Dorset Constabulary, Sturminsttr- Newton,— Bow- strest, October 10. I Stolen from a field at Kelham, Nottingham, between 3rd and 5th instant : a half- bred brown Ir sh Colt, rising 1 3 years old, between 14 and 15 hands high, black legs, small \ white star on forehead, and small while spot on one side, with long tail a little chafed about half way down, not ! broken or shod, the property of Mr. John Bullen, Newark. A reward of three guineas will be paid by the Newark Association for the Protection o! Property and the Prosecution of Offenders, and a further reward o? three guineas by the said John Bullen to any person giving information leading to the recovery of the colt and conviction of the offender or offenders. Pound in possession of a man, now in custody at Websey I Pair, Yorkshire, on 5th instant: a black Mare, supposed stolen, aged, 15 hands high, white star on forehead, and two i white spots on saddle part of back, grey and black uncut tail, 1 in fat condition, and apparently in foal : a man of the following description decamped when the police came, and ; who represented himself to be the owner : he is about \ 27 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, j dark hair, and no beard or whiskers ; dressed in white cord ! waistcoat, coloured silk necktie, cloth trousers, with small 1 stripe, blue pilot jacket, with vent at the back, Scotch cap, j with peak, and knob at the top; had the appearance o£ a LASOMY MB Absconded from West End, South Stoneham, on 4th instant, charged with stealing a pair of grey tweed Trousers, with a small black stripe down the seams, and a blue serge Jacket : JOHN BAKER, about 30 years of age. about 5 feet 9 inches high, dark hair, cut short, small moustache, tattooed on ba" ik of hands ; he was - wearing the stolen clothes under an old brown overcoat, black round, crowned hat. Stated he was discharged from the 64th Regiment last February ; he is a good musician, and can play any instrument. Informatioa to be given to Mr. Superintendent Stannard, Hants Con- stabulary, Bitterne, near Southampton, who holds a warrant £ or his apprehension.— Bow- street, Oct. 12. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Middlesbrough, on 10th instant; a long iron- grey double- breasted Top CA at, velvet collar, lined with black Italian cloth, three pockets outside, small ticket pocket, four mohair buttons down eaih aide, and three small ditto on each cuff. By GEORGE AYRE, a tailor, a native of Loftus, 25 yeafs of ag5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, black hair, small whiskers and mous- tache, slender figure; dressed in blue cloth ccat, cutaway at Japs, black double- breasted vest, white stripe tweed trousers, and felt bat. He has been previously convicted in Middles- brough. Information to be given to Chief Constable Sagger- son, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, October 12. Stolen on the night of 5th instant, from a wash- house at Newbiggen, Caere, near Penrith, Cumberland, a pair of light lace- up Boots, with toe- caps, braes eyelet- holes to the top of instep, and six to eight hooks ( some broken off left boot) from instep to top of boots, and have been sold. Also stolen on the same night, from a stable at Newbiggen, a single- breasted woollen cork waistcoat, with moleskin sleeves, three outside pockets, one pocket inside left breast, one pocket is slightly torn, black bono buttons, and lined with calico ; and a man's blue and white check cotton Jacket, lined with calico, and metal buttons. Supposed by a man, 60 years of age, about 6 feet high, stout make, red face, high cheekbones, no whiskers, and gcey hair ; dressed in an old brown coat, mole- skin trousers, billycock hat, and clogs. He is supposed to be a native of Askham, Westmoreland, and a returned convict. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Powler, Pen- rith, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland. — Bow- street, October 12, Description of WILLIAM RYDER, late book keeper at a print works, who absconded from Hollingworth, Cheshire, on 4th instant, and for - whose apprehension a warrant charging him with stealing .£ 300, has been issued : 36 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, thin features, hollow cheeks, thin build, inclined to stutter when excited, and of intemperate habits: dressed in dark clothes, and black wideawake hat. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Arrowsmith, Police Station, Hyde, Cheshire.— Bow- street, October 12. Stolen from Elvin Villa, in Moffat, Dumfriesshire, on the night cf lst instant: a gentlemans blue cloth great Coat, lined with black silk, single breasted, silk velvet collar, blue cloth buttons, two pockets with flaps outside, the right one of which is holed, having been burnt, one inside left breast, supposed to have small ticket pocket in front. Also stolen from a dwelling- house at Arkin, Langholm, Dumfriesshire, on 8th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, has figure of a dog and fox engraved on outside of outer case, a piece of braes chain about 9 inches in length attached. Supposed by a weaver or millworker, about 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches higb, round face, sallow complexion, dark hair and whiskers ; dressed in check tweed coat, dark tweed trousers, and black soft felt hat. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, County Buildings, Dumfries.— Bow- street, October 12. Charged with stealing two Shirts at Leominster, on 3rd instant: — DYER, about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins. high, dark brown hair, and sandy whiskers all round face • dressed in dark brown coat, dark drab trousers, - wears three POLICE GAZETTE. October 12 ribbons on his breast for medals. States he is a pensioner from the Army. He has been calling upon several officers begging. He has a wife and three children, his wife, Harriet Dyer, has a pedlar's certificate granted at Hereford, on 14th May last. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Johnson, Borough Police Office, Leominster, Hereford.— Brno- street, October 10. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Brenzett, Kent, on 2nd instant, the property of Francis Strickland : 6 silver Tea Spoons, 2 Table Spoons, 1 silver albert Chain, 2 Dessert Spoons, all recovered; a silver butter Knife, a silver dessert Knife, supposed marked ' F. S.'; a gold Ring, set with 4 red stones. By EMMA. NYE, alias RAYMOND, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, turning arey ; dressed in dark dress, black shawl and hat, all very shabby. Is well known in Romford. Essex. Informa- tion to be given to Mr. Superintendent Noakes, Kent Con- stabulary, Ashford, who holds a warrant for her arrest.— Bow- ttreeu October 10. Description of SAMUEL RICE, chargad on a warrant with stealing, on 5th instant, from Brookwood Lunatic Asylum, Woking. Surrey : a silver- plated Cornet in Box, and a brass Baritone, French make, which he plays ; a suit of blue cloth Clothes, brass buttons, with the county ere sfc on them ; and a cheesecutter Cap. Also, a suit of plain Clothes, daik tweed, belonging to one of the male attendants. Rice is about 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, very florid com- plexion, red hair and moustache, no whiskers, bad teeth in front aud sometimes wears fake ones ; dressed in the uniform belonging to the Asylum. He was discharged in 1871 from the Ri « al Marines at Chatham, in which regiment he had served 13 years; he was born at Cargate, Leeds, and married at Chatham, Kent; he has four children, two boys aDd two girls, the oldest between 5 and 6 years, and the youngest is a few months o! d. His wife has been living at South- gate, near London, where Rice joined her on 6th instant, and thay then all left Southgate. Description of a man who changed one of the £ 5 Notes stolen from 8, Robertson- terrace, Hastings, on 25th ultimo, on the same day at an hotel in Hastings, see Police Gazette of 28tb ultimo : he is between 45 and 50 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, grey whiskers and moustache, shaved on thin, spoke with a foreign ( supposed French) accent, aud is of gentlemanly appearai. ee ; dressed in grey suit, hard round black feat, white silk neckerchief, with black spots, fastened by a ring, aud carried an umbrella. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, Sussex.— Bow- tfreet, October 8. Stolen about 3 p. m. on 5th instant, from an out building at Betchtou : a black cloth Jacket, large pockets inside skirts, sleeves lined with light striped lining, has 3 black buttons in front; a single breasted twilled cloth Vest; a pair of lace- up Boots, newly soled and heeled ; a leather Purse, containing 4s.; a pair of Braces, a pair of Stockings, and a large blue bundle Handkerchief. By a young man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers; dressed in light cloth jacket and trousers, blue cloth vest, light cap, and the stolen boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Rowbottom, Constabulary Station, Middlewich, or to Sergeant Jones, Constabulary Station, Scholar Green, Church Lawton, Cheshire.— Bom- street, Oct. 8. Stolen from a bed- room at the National School, at Stoke Hammond, between 1 and 5 p. m on 5th instant: a pair of female's kid Boots, elastic sides, No. 5 size, and a little worn down at the sides of heek ; and a brown serge Skirt, lined with a black material about 10 inches up from the bottom ; the property of Hannah Shortland, ot Stoke Hammond, school mistress. Supposed by two tramps: one about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches bigb, dark brown hair sandy whiskers, and bas the appearance of a soldier; dressed in black coat and trousers, wnd cap with peak ; the other about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches higb, black hair, rather long, no whiskers ; dressed in a dark velvet coat, supposed cord trousers, and cap with peak. Stolen about 7 a. tn. on 3rd instant, from the tap- room of the Five Ways Inn, Great Barr; the property of William Fisher : one pair of man's strong water- tight Boots, nearly new. Supposed by a man abnut 30 years of age, 5 ft. 6 or 7 inches high, beard on end of chin, swarthy complexion, and is a smith ; dressed iii dark greasy clothes and cap with peak, and is a native of London. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Holland, Police Office, Wednesbury, or to Sergeant, Arnold, Police Station, Rushall, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, Ociobcr 8. Stolen from a dwelling house at Rough Hey, near Junction, between 6 30a. m, on 24th, and 1 p. m., 27th ultimo : a gold lever Watch, gold dial, bands, and figures, had engraved on dome ' Patent L » ver, Warranted, Timekeeper.' Supposed by a man who had been lodging in the house, a bricklayer, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches higb, light com- plexion, light blue eyes, alight moustache, slender build; dressed in a blue cloth coat, light cotton cord trousers and vest, lace- up boot?, and hard billycock hat. He was accom- panied by a w<, min who is near her confinement, and had with him a l'ght grey Scotch terrier dog. He has served in the 17th Lancers. Stolen oa the morning of 4th instant, from No. 34, Pros- pect Hill, Swindon : £ 6 15s. 3d. By a mau who slept there for the night, about 18 or 20 years of age, stated he came from Coventry and was a grocer's assistant, 5 feet 1 inch higb, dark complexion and eyes, very , dar. k heavy eyebrows, dark hair parted down the middle, and slight moustache; dressed in plaid coat and trousers, brown plaid waistcoat, blue necktie, breast pint with red stone, white turn- down collar, hard round bowler hat, elastic side boots," and wore a ring with a red stone on the little finger cf left hand. He is a labourer, and a native ot Chippenham, Wilts, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and eyes, moustache, shows his teeth very much, slight made, and has lost the first finger of his left hand ; dressed in cjrd trousers and vest, light slop jacke*-, soft black billycock hat, and heavy lace- up boots.
