INFORMATIONS ICBDm A1B WOUNDING. WILLIAM WOODS, a spinner, 33 years of age, 5 ft. 5 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair, grey eyes, ' W. S. W.' on left arm, and scar right side of neck; was bailed for trial for unlawfully wouuding and absconding, and a bench warrant is issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Boro' Police Station, Preston, Lancashire,— Bw- slreet, August 29. Atl- 30 a. m. 6th instant, the body of PATRICK EARLY, 76 years of age, late of 15, Garden- row, Mortlake, Surrey, was found in a market garden, at Mortlake, with his throat cut, and other marks of violence : at the coroners inquest, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. J100 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government, to any person ( other than a person belonging to a police force in the United Kingdom) who shall give such information and evidence as Bhail lead to the discovery and conviction of the muderer cr murderers, and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant of Her Majesty's Most Gracious Pardon to any accomplice ( not being the person who actually committed the murder) who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. Further information respecting the supposed murderer, described in the Police Gazette of 17th isstant : he carries a thin canvas or hempen skeleton bag, containing a coat similar to that worn, he is known as JIM, and was accompanied by a short stout dark woman, wearing a hat with thick fall. Stolen from the person of Mr. Laming, at Canterbury : a gold English lever Watch, open- faced, No. 863, seconds hand missing, a small shield engraved on back of case. Information to be given to Chief Constable Davies, Canter- bury, Kent.— Bow- street, August 27. Stolen from the person at Ramsgate regatta, on 23rd instant: A gold hunting- case Watch, maker Snowdon, Cheapside. £ 5 reward. A silver lever hunting Watch, capped and jewelled, edge of cases nearly black from contact with impure gas, and a gold albert Chain. A lady's small gold Watch, with chased back maker Bennett. And an old- fashioned open face silver Geneva, cases much worn. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Buss, Rams- gate Police Office, Kent.— Bow- street, August 27. Stolen on the night of 20th instant, about 9p. m , by robbery, at the parish of Burbage, the property of Tom Morris, hotel keeper, of Hinckley, following property, viz., a bay Mare, 4 years old, 16 hands high, hind heels white, marked on off side under saddle with ringworms, and tail cut short; a set of Harness, with white metal fixtures and bright Hames; an old Gig, painted blue and striped with white, and lined with light drab ; 2 Rugs, one black outside and lion inside ; a cane Whip ; a gold lever Watch, No. 2181 ; a gold albert Chain; 7 or 8 Shillings. The thief assaulted Morris, and threatened to blow his brains out; he is 24 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches higb, fre3h complexion, full eyes, moustache, no whiskers ; dressed in dark snuff- colour corduroy trousers, grey check coat, light cheek cap with peak before and behind, light muffler, wore a ring on each hand, and had another cap in his pocket. Stolen from the person of Mr. Henry Swinson Coppin, Clarence Hotel, Reading, Berks, on the London- road, between Twyford and Hare Hatch, about 9 pm. on 28th instant : about J16 in Gold and Silver; a gold ltvjr Watch, No. 14281, open- face, white dial, maker's name ' Bennett, Cheapside,' on the dial; a 15- carat gold albert Chain, with long links connected by Bhort twisted links, a gold Locket attached, plain one side, and horseshoe on the other ; a silver fusee Box, monogram on top with initials ' C. W. P.'; a plain gold diamond Ring with three stones ; a gold Ring with corals and pearls ; and a bunch of Keys. By a man, 28 or 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, square build, light grey eyes, fair small moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in dark blue long loose overcoat, dark trousers, blue and white cross necktie with sailor's knot, and soft black billycock hat, turned up at sides. Mr. Coppin and the above man left Reading for a drive in a pony and trap, with which after the robbery the man made off towards London. He assaulted Mr. Coppin, and threatened to blow his brains out, and he is supposed to be the same man as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th instant as having committed a similar robbery at Burbage, Leicestershire. The pony and trap has been found at Maidenhead, the man leaving it there the same night and taking a fly to Slough. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Berkshire, Reading, or to Mr. Superintendent Millard, County Police Station, Wokingham, Berks.— Bow- street, August 31. Stolen from the person at Canterbury Races, held on Barham Downs, on 22ud instant: a silver horizontal hunting Watch, maker Webb, Oxford- street, London, No. 1017, and has also ' No, 593' scratched on it; aud a silver Geneva hunting Watch, enamelled face. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Walker, Kent County Constabulary, Canterbury.— Bow- street, August 29. The Mare, Gig, Rugs, and Whip stolen from Tom Morris at Burbage, on the night of 20th inst, hava been recovered, having been found at Coventry, where they had been left by the thief, who is still at large. He will probably call at surgeons' or chemists'shops, he having hurt h s leg by falling MOUSE BEM. SI Between 10 a m. and 5 p. m. on 28th instant, the dwelling- house of Thomas Harrison, of Pikes End, parish of Ellesmere, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a pair of twill cloth Trousers and Vest; a brown cloth top Coat; a black cloth round Jacket, pockets on hips ; a double breasted black cloth Vest ; a purple cloth frock Coat; and a calico Shirt. Supposed by a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, black hair and whiskers ; dressed in a dark velvet jacket, cord trousers, and black jimcrow hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to Sergeant Gough, Police Station, Ellesmere, Salop.— Bow- st., August 31. During the night of 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of George Dunn, Lockington, East Riding of Yorks., was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a Ham, weighing about 16 lbs. ; a grey Overcoat, pocket inside left breast, and two outside pockets, lined with red and black check ; a pair of lace- up Boots, nearly new ; a blue and white cotton Shirt; and a pair of grey worsted Stockings. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Nay lor, East Riding Con- stabulary, Beverley.— Bote- street, August 29. Between 12 midnight and lam. on 28th ins., a house in the parish of Eton was broken and entered and stolen therein : a high silk Hat, nearly new, maker ' Heath, Oxford- street, London,' size 6f ; a low- crowned felt Hat; 2 pairs of lace up Boots with brass eyelet holes, one pair much worn ; a red morocco Purse, containing three new gilt Studs, three small Keys, and a very small aluminium Pencil- case. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Pearman, Eton, Buckinghamshire. — Bow- street, August 29. Stolen on 23rd instant, by means of housebreaking, in the parish of Eaton, Hastings : a pair of balmoral Boots, fancy tips round the heels, toe- capped, and patent leather strips up the front, with brass eyelet- holes ; and a pocket Knife, with four blades. Supposed by two tramps : one about 30 years of age, rather short; the other much older and taller ; both dressed in dark pilot coats, and dark caps ; one of them is supposed to be wearing the stolen boots, as an old pair was left behind. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Reece, Farringdon, Berks. — Bow - street, August 27. During the night of 21st instant, a lock- up shop in the parish of Llanbedr, Merionethshire, was broken and entered and stolen therein, supposed by tramps : half- a- dozeD silk Hair Dresses, a quantity of silk boot Laces, and a large number of bone collar Stud?, of different colours. Informa- tion to . be given to Mr. Superintendent Hughes, Towyn, Merionethshire.— Bow- street, August 27. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Walsall Wood, during the night of 23rd instant, the property of William Bailey : an old pilot cloth Jacket, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast; a pair of ribbed worsted Stockings ; an Oxford Shirt, with blue slripes ; three old flannel Shirts, patched ; a calico Shirt; and a boy's ditto. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, or to Sergeant Arnold, Police Station, Rushall, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 27. Between 8 am. and 3 p. m. on 24th instant, the dwelling house of Charles Waters Gray, farm bailiff, was broken and entered, and stelen therein : a scarlet woollen Shawl ; a black woollen scarf Shawl; a green plaid Shawl, yellow stripes ; a blue cotton Shirt, nearly new ; a grey cloth Jacket, two hip and inside pockets ; a black cloth double- breasted Vest; a grey single- breasted Vest; a gold keeper Ring ; a gold plated keeper Ring; a gold plated Ring ; 2 Pawntickets relating to 3 Bilver Watches, pawned at Gravesend. Also stolen, by means of housebreaking, on 24th instant, from the dwelling- house of Henry Stevens, Gray's gardner : a black cloth Vest, single- breasted ; a black cloth shooting Coat, pockets on hips ; a snuff- colour Overcoat, with velvet collar to match, maker's name ' Krupp, Gravesend,' on inside of collar. By a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, bJack whiskers aud moustache; dressed in dark cloth trousers and vest, hard felt hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Dobson, Brentwood, Essex.— Bow- st., August 27. Between 15th and 20th instant, a dwelling- house in Coventry was broken and entered and stolen therein : 2 silver Table Spoons, engraved ' H. S. B.' 1 ditto Dessert Spoons, ditto. 2 ditto Jam Spoons, ditto. 1 electro- plated Fish Carver and Fork, a man fishing engraved on blade. 1 small gold cameo Brooch, figure of a woman holding a child. 1 small gold Brooch, rope pattern, has been repaired. 1 small frosted, silver Croas, ring attached. 1 small gold Pencil- case, turquoise band round. 1 gold plated Albert Chain. J. dark blue glass double smelling Bottle, silver tops. 2 yards black Silk. And 4 ditto drab ditto. The house was entered by forcing the front door with a wide chisel, and both front and back doors had been marked by placing small stones between the doors and door frames. Information to be given to Head Constable Norris, Coventry, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 27. Between 11 pm, 22nd, and 6 a. m. 23rd instant, the housa of Noah Brown, the ' Barrel. Inn,' Amblecote, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black cloth Jacket, single breasted, pockets on hips, and one inside left breast, black covered buttons, black lining, nearly new ; a dark mixture Jacket, double breasted, pockets on hips, and one outside breast, dark bone buttons, part worn, and 50 or 60 Cigars. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Woollaston, Police Station, Brierly Hill, or to Sergeant Hinton, Brettle Lane, near Stourbridge, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 27. The man described in the Police Gazette of 20th instant, charged with housebreaking at Boston, has been apprehended and the property recovered. He gives the name of JOHN EVANS, alias THOMAS LEWIS, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6] inches high, proportionate build, brown hair, small light moustache, no whiskers, sharp nose and features, freckled, has lost most of his lower double teeth, two tattoo dots on right fore arm, and one on right hand between thumb and first finger ; dressed in old blue cloth trousers, dark vest, black and brown double- breasted shooting coat, and dark Scotch cap with peak ; he has the appearance of a tramp. States he is a labourer, and was born at Taunton, Warwick- shire, but has travelled with his father, a glazier, since he was very young, in the counties of Northampton, Notting- ham, Derby, and Leicester, generally staying at commoa lodging- houses, until four months ago, since which time he has worked occasionally as a bricklayer's labourer at several towns in Lancashire and Yorks hire. Information to be given to Head Constable Bellamy, Boston, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street August 24. HOMSB AIB OATTXsM SX^ A& IWGS Stolen from Normanton Turville, near Hinckley, on 26th instant: a brown nag Mare, 6 years old, no white about her, has a mark on coronet of near fore foot, pinched on one shoulder, switch tail, in low condition, the property of Joseph Grundy, farmer, Normanton; a Saddle and Bridle were also stolen._ By a man, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches bigb, light hair and complexion, no whiskers, has a few hairs on upper lip, and is of slender build ; dressed in dark suit, dark overcoat, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Grimston, Leicester, or to Inspector Chapman, Hinckley, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, August 31. Found at Barton Stacey, on 22nd instant, and supposed to have been stolen : two wether Sheep, Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bennett, Hants Constabulary Andover.— Bow- street, August 31. Stolen from Pitchcroft, on the morning of 20th instant • a light bay cart Horse, 5 years old, 15 hands higb, in < y0od condition, and a little hair rubbed off near the right eye A reward of two guineas will be paid for such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the horse. Information to be given to Sergeant Sommers, City Police, Worcester.- Soiv- sireet, August 29 POLICE GAZETTE. August 31 The Horse stolen from Scott's Park, Hammersmith, ( described in Police Gazette of 15th instant), has been re- covered. Corrected description of the thief : 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, small whiskers, hair cut short, and dressed in a light drab tweed coat, white pearl buttons, dark mixture trousers and vast, black billycoik hat and lace- up boots. He left behind him at Ware, Hertford, a dealer's cart, painted blue picked out with red, chocolate wheels picked out' with red, off spring broken, old, and silver- plated harness, Prince of Wales feathers on blinkers, ' H. S.' on pad, all old.— Metropolitan Police, T Division, August 27. The Hir e advertised in Police Gizette of 21th instant, as stolen from Solihull, on 21st instant, has been recovered near Banbury, oa the morning of 22nd instant : two men were seen driving it in a trap along the Warwick- road, with another hois? tied, behind the trap, when near Banbury the horse fell and cut Ms off knee badly, the men put the other horse in the trap and dr ve awgy, leaving the stolon horse by the road t> id « : one man is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins. high, dark beard and moustache, full face ; dressed ' in a blue p'aid jacket, with three double ro-. vs of buttons on the skirt, scarf or muffler on neck, watertight boots, soft felt billy top hat, with high crown ; the other man is about 35 years of ags, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion, light sandy mous- tache ; dressed iu snuff- coloured long coat The trap was a dark one very dirty, very old hornets and it is su posed to have been a brown mare, with a white bliza down the face, which was put into the trap, in the trap was a new tarpaulin Sheet, 6 yards by 4 yards, marked ' W. Mills, Copt Heath,' iu white letters, which had been stolen from a load of hay, near Solihull, ( hiring the night of 2lst instant. Information to be given to Mr.: Superintendent Simmons, Coleahill, or to Inspector Yardley, Solihull, Warwickshire. — Bow- street, August 27. The bay Horse, advertised in the Police Gazette on 13th instant as stolefi from Allesley. has been recovered. Descrip- tion of the supposed thief : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, little oi m> whiskers; dressed in black jacket, fustian trousers,, and black billycock hat, w hich he wore very much back Information to be given to Mr, Superintendent Lapworth, Police Station, Longford, near Coventry, Warwick- shire. — Jims- street, August 24. The black gelding nag horse stolen from Hilperton Marsh ( advertised in the Police Gazette of 11th ultimo), has not yet been recovered. Twenty Guineas reward is still offered for the recovery of the horse and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent White, Wilts Constabulary, Trowbridge.— Bow- Ktreei, August 24. Found on the road side in the parish of Drayton, near Banbury, on 22hd instant, and supposed to have been stolen : a bay Geld in;.', aged. This horse was seen being driven along the road by two wen towards Banbury, when it fell and cut its knees, the off one very badly, the men at once took the harness off, put it on another horse which they had tied to the cart, put the other horse in the cart, and drove away, leaving this one by the road side. Stolen from Middlesbrough, on 27th instant : a quantity of Tallow ( recovered). By a young man, a carter, 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slender made, fresh complexion; dressed in velvet coat, corduroy trousers, cloth cap, and clogs. He will probably endeavour to enlist ia the Army. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Saggersor, Middles- brough. Yorkshire,— Bow- street, August 31. Absconded from Newcastle- on- Tyne, on 29th instant, charged with stealing the sum of J396 Us. 6d., the monies of bis employers: WILLIAM MARSHALL HAMILTON, a clerk, 25 years of age, 5 feat 5 inches high, slight build, dark hair, no whiskers, thin black moustache and imperial, small black eyes, high cheek bones, speaks the Newcastle dialect ; dresses generally in black shooting coat and vest, grey trousers, and latterly wore a high white hat. It is supposed that he will endeavour to leave the country. .£ 10 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such infor- mation as will lead to his apprehension. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Newcastle- oa- Tyne, Northum- berland.— Bm- ftreet, AuguH 31. Description of GEORGE COPE, alias MOULD, a labourer, charged with stealing £ 6 15s., from the ' Dog and Partridge' public- house, at Luzlow, on 16th instant: he is 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark complexion, daik brown hair and eyes ; dressed iu old black cloth jacket, old moleskin trousers and vest, black cloth cap, and lace up boots. He is a single man, and a native of Leigh, near Uttoxeter, Staffed. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Kelly, Police Office, Burslem, Staffordshire.— Bow- ttrset, August 31. Description of WILLIAM PICKARD, charged on a warrant with stealing a pair of black cloth Trousers and Vest, and a dark muslin Dress, from a house in Litchurch on 24th instant, where he and bis wife were lodgers : about 23 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, very stout, dark com- plexion, slight moustache, and shaves his whiskers ; dressed m a dark coat, light vest, daik cord trousers, and felt hat; he is a shoe rivetter, and native of Leicester, and has been previously convicted of felony. His wife, who left with him, was dressed in black, aud had with her a child four months old. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Lawson, Litchurcb, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, August 31. Stolen on 23rd instant: a pair of brown worsted knitted Stockings; a mason's Trowel; and a double- bladed Knife, with brown bone haft. By a man, 40 to 45 vears of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches hiph, fresh complexion, light hair, ginger whiskers and moustache, and slender figure ; ho says he is a mason; dressed iu black cloth coat or jacket, cotton cord jacket underneath, moleskin trons- rs and vest, patched at knees, brown cap, turned up at side, and strong laced boots, he also had an old black round hat, and generally lodges at private- houses. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Spence, Pickering, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 29. Stolen from the dwelling house of James Holdbrook, of Fair Oak, between 10 p. m., 13th, and 6 am. on 14th instant: a suit of black cloth Clothes, nearly new, the Coat has a black velvet collar, and pockets on hips, single- breasted Vest, and old- fashioned flap front Trousers, and a pair of lace- up Boots, much worn. By WILLIAM HOLDBROOK, alias WILLIAM NEWBROOK, 26 years of age, 5 feet € inches high, ruddy complexion, sandy hair, grey eyes, stout build, no whiskers or moustache ; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, moleskin trousers, and strong lace boots, all much worn, dark felt cap, with a patch of grey cloth on top. He is a collier, a native of Milton, Staffordshire, where his wife aud two children are Jiving. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Crisp, Police Office, Stone, or to Sergeant Dix, Police Station, Ashby Market Drayton, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bmfl- ti,, Aug. 29. Stolen on the night of 18th instant, from an auction mart: 6 large dinner Forks, 12 dessert Forks, 12 dessert Spoons, all marked with a crest of a buck's head on an Eastern crown and a plate charged with a pheon ; 4 table Spoons, marked with initials ' W. S'; 6 small Teaspoons, with crest a bud ; a pair of Sugar Tongs, fancy pattern, cross stripes; and about .£ 30 in Gold, Silver, asicl Copper monies. By ALFRED DAVIES, warehouseman, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair and eyes, small black moustache, small poicted nose, nits his eyebrows when spoken to, hair cut short, and has a swaggering gait; fee was wearing a Scotch plaid^ suit, red and Mick, coat djuble breasted, with pockets at sides, round hard felt hat. Has a good address, aud is of gentlemanly appear- ance. Information t ® be given to Chief Constable Jackson, Sheffield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 27. Description of JESSE HOUGHTON, charged with stealing a Turkey on 14th instant: 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light whiskers and moustache ( very slight), stout build. He is a stonemason, and left Alcester on 15th instant. He is supposed to be working at some new buildings in course of erection at or near Wolver- hampton.
