INFORMATIONS. 1U1D1E A1B MALICIOUSLY WOUHDIIG, Absconded on 1st instant, from Burford, near Tec bury, charged on a warrant with wounding James Lloyd, with a reaping hook : JOHN HOOPER, alias CHAS. HAWKER, from 20 to 25 years c- f age, about 6 feet high, dark hair and complexion, very little whiskers ; dressed in dark coat and vest, woollen cord troasers, and blask soft hat, which he wears on one side of his head, hangs his head down when walking, and is a native of Malvern, which place he left about 6 months ago; he carried a large skeleton hempen bag, con- taining an ell cotit similir to the one worn ; has been known by the name of Jim, and was traced to Worcester, aid left to , go harvesting with a man from 40 to 50 years of age, dark hair, whiskers, and complexion, and they said they were going to Pershore, Evesham, or to Warwickshire. Absconded, charged with stealing and forging the " t ansfer of a number of London and South Western Railway j Bonds, and Anglo American Telegraph Bonds, value £ 5,000 : 1 GEORGE ALFRED PHILLIPS, 32 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whisker?, and moustache, slightly bald ; dressed respectably, wears a curb pattern albert chain, locket with initials ' H. L' attached. He has relatives residing in Holland- road, Brixton, and he frequents a public house in Loughborough- road, and another in Mostyr- , road, Brixton. Warrant issued.— Metropolitan Police, E Divi- sion, Augutt 20. Description of EDWAD TAYLOR EVANS, charged with forgery, and obtaining on 7th instant, the sum of £ 215 in Notes and Gold, the property of his employer : he is a aative of the Cape of Good Hope, of English parentage, .23 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches or 6 feet high, dark eyes, dark brown hail", straight, sallow complexion, large mouth, large irregular teeth, pleasing countenance, thin build, square shoulders, his ltfs leg wa3 amputated at the thigh, wears a false leg and foot, and walks with two sticks ; dressed when last seen in black shooting coat and vest, grey irouseis, and generally wears a high silk hat. Stolen from the person of Charles Pwycross, 14 years of age, on the highway between Chelmsford and Wriltle, about 5 p. m. 15th instant : a pair of strong lace up Shoes, brass eyelet holes, half iron tips on one side of heel?, and £ quire hob nails on the other halfs, the soles nailed with square, hob nails, and 3 months in wear. By a man, about 5 feet 10 ins. high, stout made, carroty moustache, and tufc of sandy hair on chin ; dressed in dark coat, light cord trousers, and white billycock hat. On the morning of 13th instant, a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, light hair, dark complexion ; dressed in grey suit, black felt hat, and wearing two finger rings, one of them with reversible stones, and having a cigar holder with the figure of a woman, and the little finger on left hand with a tattoo mark of a ring, and wearing a lcng gold watch guard plaited into four lengths, and representing to persons that he was about the country buying pigs to send to Croydon. Hired a pony and trap in Dudley, the property of James John Checket's, Stafford- street, Dudley, atd drove with him to Bridgnorth. On returning to Dudley, the man gave Mr. Checkett's something to drink from a bottle and he suddenly became insensible. On recovering he found himself lying in the Turnpike- road, bruised on the head and body, his teeth loosened, and robbed of a silver Watch, and gold albert Chain, two Half Sovereigns, about £ 1 in Silver, and a brown beaver great Coat. He is a native of Newcastle, a tailor, but for three weeks prior to 2lst instant had been working with a butcher. He has been convicted of larceny at Jarrow, Newcastle, and Edinburgh. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on 12th instant, the dwelling? house of Edward Nicholls, of Ford's Heath, near Yockleton, was broken and entered and stolen therein : one Hair-" Sovereign, one Shilling and Sixpence in Silver, and Three- pence in Copper. Supposed by a man who has absconded, a miller, 32 years of agf, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout build, nearly black hair and whiskers, full face, large nose, and rather round shoulders; dresied in hard round- hat, covered in flour, grey cloth mixture jacket and vest, and woollen cord trousers. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ho wells, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Walters, Pontesbury, Salop.— Bow- street, August 22. Stolen from the person on Windsor Race Course, on 16th instant : an open- faee English silver lever Watch, maker's name Lester, Newcastle; an English made gold-, hunter Watch, enamel dial, crest on outside case— a stork. Between 12 p m. and 8 a. m. on 19th instant, the house of Arthur Penson, Green- lane, Handsworth, was broken and entered and stolen therein : about Is. in Copper,-; a silver Table Spoon, indented, and one or two letters on it; a white linen ( common) Shirt, one pearl button ou each wristband, size of neck inches ; one pair of child's black patent leather lace- up Boots ; a woman's blue cloth Jacket, bound with crape, double- breasted, jet buttonp, imitation pockets at back, and pauch worn ; a black merino Mantle, with bla ® k bow at back and ties with strings in front; a common clothes Brush with brown back ; about 2 lbs. of salt Butter; abaut 2 lbs. of Ham, & c. The bay Horse, advertised in the Police Gazette on 13th instant as stolen from Allesley. has been recovered. Descrip- tion of the supposed thief : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, little oi no whiskers; dressed in black jacket, fustian trousers, and black billycock hat, - which he wore very much back. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Lapworth, Police Station, Longford, near Coventry, Warwick- shire. - Bow- street, August 24, The black gelding nag horse stolen from Hilperton Marsh ( advertised in the Police Gazette of 1 Ith ultimo), has not yet been recovered. Twenty Guineas reward is still offered for the recovery of the horse and conviction of the cff « nder or offenders. P O L I C E GAZETTE, August 24 Stolen from a field at Solihull duriDg the night of 21a instant; the property of Samuel B. Barnes : a light bay nag Horse, aged, 15£ hands high, small white saddle mark ou near side, 8mali patch of white on off hind hoof, and peculiar walk witli hind legs. £ 5 reward will be paid by the owner on recovery of the Horse and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Simmons, Coleshill, or to Inspector Yardley, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, August 24. Pound on the road side in the parish of Drayton, near Banbury, un 22nd instant, and supposed to have been stolen : a bay Gelding, aged. This horse was seen being driven aloDg the road by two men towards Banbury, when it fell and cut its knees, the off one very badly, the men at once took the harness off, put it on another horse which they had tied to the cart, put the other horse in the cait, and drove away, leaving this one by the road side. The men bad the appear- ance of hawkers. Information to be given to Mr. Superin- tendent Cope, Police Station, Neithrop, Banbury, Oxfordshire. — Bvw- ttrent, August 24. Stolen on 7th or 8th instant, from a field adjoining Worsley- road, Beckenham : three red and white Heifers, with clips on off hips.— Metropolian Police, P Division, August 22. Stolen from a field on the Birckill side o! Dtlamere Forest, Cheshire, about 3rd instant : a bay cart Mare, lame of the near forefoot, and without shoes ; £ 1 reward is offered for the recovery of the Mare and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendent Mayho, Cheshire Constabulary, Oikaiere, North- wich, Cheshire.— Bow- itreet, August 20. Stolen during the night of the 13lh instant, from a field at Mornington- road, Woodford : 2 bay carriage Horses, one 16 hands high, 10 years old, black fore legs, hind heels white, black mane and tail, curb mark on under jaw, a few white hairs on belly, no hind shoes; the other has been recovered. — Metropolitan Police, N Division, August 20. Description of OWEN CREW, who is charged with stealing a Pony, the property of Thomas Crew, at Halesowen, on 11th instant ( since recovered) : 19 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light thin hair, verj little whiskers, small chin, prominent upper lip, bold forehead, ' O. C.' tattooed on one arm, has a malformation on each large toe which causes him to walk awkwardly. He wears a hard black felt hat back upon his neck, is in the habit of turning his head over his shoulder when spoken to. He is a native of Dudley, has lived in the United States, and was on 19rh May last convicted at Liverpool as a stow.-. way. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Kemp, Halesowen, near Birmingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, Bow- Street, August 20. Zi& ECiiY AMD KaBBEzaxsicBVx Description of JESSE HOUGHTON, charged with stealing a Turkey on 14th instant: 26 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light whiskers and moustache ( very slight), stout build. He is a stonemason, and left Alcester on 15 :, h instant. He is supposed to be working at some new building* in course of erection at or near Wolver- hampton. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Thomas, Constabulary Office. Alcester, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Augw. t 24, Stolen from a dwelling- house at Asptnal on the morning of 21st instant: 1 brown cloth Overcoat, black covered buttons and silk velvet collar ; 1 black cloth monkey Jacket, two pockets outside and one inside left breast; 1 double- breasted black cloth Vest, stiiped lining a little torn at the arm holes ; and one pair of men's woollen enrd Trousers, fly fronts and brass buttons; also 1 dog skin Vest with black buttons. By a man who said he came from Lincolnshire ; he had lodged at the house two nights, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 8 inches high, dark hair turning grey, slight moustache, and tattooed on back of both hands ; dressed in blue cloth pilot jacket, red vest with brass buttons, apparently made from a soldier's shell jacket, grey cloth trousers, laca- up boots, and a French or navy cap. He stated that be had just been discharged from the navy with a pension of 6c). per day. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Holland, County Police Office, Bolton, Lan- cashire.— Bm- itreei, August 24, Description of a drawer in a coal- pit, who absconded from his lodgings at Hilton House, Westhoughton, stealing a Purse, containing £ 1 18s. 9d. : 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, long features, very dark complexion, and dark brown hair. He is supposed to be a foreigner, and speaks broken English ; two toes on each foot are webbed ; dressed in dark blue cloth coat, patched on one elbow, daik plaid cloth trousers, new lace- up dogs, black cloth cap with peak, and black and white scarf. He has been in a Reformatory School, and it is supposed he will go to sea. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Holland, Oounty Police Office, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- street, August 24. Description of RICHARD GRANT, charged on a warrant with stealing a silver Geneva Watch, recovered, two gold Pencil- cases attached to a black silk Guard, a Dollar, and a dark grey plaid Yest, at Ashford, on 20th instant; about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion and moustache, no whiskers, tattooed on both hands ai d arms, a id his name on one arm; dressed in dark grey jacket with pleats in front and behind, with belt rouud waiat, dark plaid or new dark fustian trousers, the stolen Yest, silk neckerchief, hors6- shoe pattern, blue Bhirt, and hard black felt hat. Also stolen from a stable at New romney, Kent, on the night of 7th instant ; a black twine carter's WhL, with four brass ferrules, ' Bishop, maker, Stone- street, Maidstone,' stamped on the lowest one ; a blue Guernsey, and a short white Slop with white buttons on wrist. By a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, thin face, slight build, dark brown hair and whiskers ; dressed in old light tweed coat, pockets on bips, light tweed or corduroy trousers, fitting tight, dark cloth cap with peak of the same material, and lace- up boots. He is slightly lame, and speaks with an Irish accent. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Noakes, Kent Constabulary, Ashf o : d.— low- street, August 24. Absconded from Cinderford, on 19th instant, charged with stealing 10 Fowls, recovered : GEORGE CRUMP, a eollier, about 33 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, and whickers, dirk complexion ; dressed in bfack hard felt hat, brown cloth jacket, black cloth trousers, Btrong lace up shoes and carried a. light jacket on his arm. He has been convicted, is well known in Staffordshire, and has a relative living at Walsall. He is accompanied by his wife and four children : the womon is 30 years of age, 5 feet high, tresh complexion, sandy hair, and blue eyes ; wearing a black and white plaid shawl. The children are three boys, one 12, one 8, and one 6 years of ago, and a girl 3 years of Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent McRae, Coleford, or to Sergeant Critchley, Cinderford, Gloucester- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 2 i. Stolen from a common lodging- house, between 9 p m, on 22nd, and 5 a. m. oa 23rd instant, the property of William Scott : a blue pilot cloth double- breasted Jacket, black velvet collar, black buttons, lined with grey tweed, two pockets out- side and one inside left breast, also small ticket pocket on light side; a red ana white checked Muffler, and a pair of elastic- side boots. By a man who lodged in the house, about 24 yiars of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, no whiskers; dressed in blue pilot jacket, white jacket underneath, dark trousers, eheesecutter cap, and elastic side boots. He is supposed to be a native of Scotland but speaks with a German accent. Has been at tea, and says ho has a pension. Also on 23id ultimo : a large delivery Cart, hung on. two springs and bump spring over the axle; this cart was formerly the property of Messrs Rider & SON, Sheffield, their name being written on the sides and back, but lightly coloured over with brown paint. By a man who gave the name of FREDERICK BARKER, of the firm of Barker Brothers, engine tallow manufacturers, No. 40, Ellin- street, South- street, Moor, Sheffield, no such firm being in existence : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, moderate build, dark complexion, dark eyes, black hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a dark coloured long frock coat, generally carries a light- coloured mackintosh; his clothes look shabby. He is accompanied by two youths who call him father, and who are believed to be bis sons: one about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, daik brown or black hair, and small black moustache ; the other about 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches- high, daik complexion, dark hair, and frequently wears a cheese- cotter cap. The man called upon a number of butcheis and stated that his firm had just completed a refining process, by which their engine tallow now stands- unsurpassed for lubricating purposes, and offered extrava- gantly high prices for tallow and fat, some of which he obtained and never paid for.
