WOUIBHG, Description of a man charged with murder at Richmond, on 6th instant: 45 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, square shoulders, proportionate build, dark complexion, dark brown hair, inclined to carl, beard, whiskers, and thick moustache, j long, dark, and peculiar eyes; dressed in dark pilot jacket; and vest, dirty fustian trousers (' arge patch on one knee), black billycock hat, heavy laee boots, and carried a thin canvas bag. Works as an excavator or gardener's labourer. Description of EDWIN CLAPP, who is charged on a warrant with unlawfully wounding Police Constable Wareham, at Bolton, by striking him on the head with a poker on the night of 22nd ultimo : 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout built, full fa. ee, fresh complexion, brown hair, slight light brown whiskers and noustache ; dressed ia pilot or corduroy jacket, moleskin trousers and vest, lace- up watertight boots, and dark cloth cap. He is a native of Brixton, Surrey, and is generally employed in excavating for the foundations of new houses. His brother, JOHN CLAPP, is also charged on a warrant with violently assaulting Police j Constable Loveless, at the same time and place. He is 24 1 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout built, full face, fresh complexion, no whisuers, slight moustache, and light brown ; hair; he belongs to tho Royal Marines st& tioned at Ports- I mouth, and was on furlough at Bolton, about two weeks of which is unexpired ; he was dressed in uniform, and is known at Brixton, Surrey. JOHN HARRIS EVANS, a printer and commercial traveller, of 53, Commercial- road, Newport Monmouth, absconded on 26th ultimo, charged ou a warrant with obtain- ing about £ 10 by means of forged orders : about 29 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light hair and complexion, light sandy beard, no whiskers, round shoulders, good appearance ; generally dressed in dark grey suit, and bowler bat. He speaks with a Welsh accent, is a good bass singer. Ha will probably try to get away to Australia. He was in company with another man about 5 feet 11 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes, wearing a straw bat. They are supposed to be tramping together. Stolen in Blackburn on 30th ultimo : a Horse, recovered; the property of Thomas Constantine, 16, Darwen- street, Blackman. By a man, 40 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, supposed light whiskers, thin face, prominent thin nosp, and light complexion ; dressed in an old dark cloth cap with peak, new cotton cord or moleskin jacket, vest and trousers, shoes ( lately repaired at the heels). He is supposed to be a carter and a native of Darwen or Bolton; and was dressed before the 30th ultimo in an old dark cap with peak, black and green striped sleeved vest, such a3 grooms wear, cotton cord vest under, old moleskin trousers, patched on left knee. He sold the stolen Horse at Astley Bridge, and appears to have been employed at stables. Stolen during the night of the 6th instant, from afield in Sandbach : an aged bay mare Pony, 11 hands high, tail cut very short, has had a bang on one knee, the property of Mr. Thomas Swain. Description of JOHN WATKINSON, a tramping tailor, charged with stealing 3 yards of black broad Cloth, the property of John Arkless : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown eves and hair whiskers shaved off, tuft of hair under chin, two upper front teeth out, and slender build ; dressed in old black cloth Coat, grey tweed trousers and vest, old elastic- side boots, and black bowkr hat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey. City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- ttreet, August 10. Description of GEORGE BASKET, who is charged on a warrant with stealing from the dwelling- house of Coarles Cobb, of East Stoke, on 2nd instant: about .£ 23 in Gold, a pair of black cloth Trousers, arid a quantity of bed Linen. He is 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches nigh, dark complexion, dark brown hair, small dark moustache, and very little whiskers; carries his head a little on one side, and has a habit of coughing every few minutes when walking. He was traced to Manchester on 3rd instant in company with the wife of Charles Cobb, from whom the above property was stolen. They are now supposed to be living together as man and wife. She is 23 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches to 5 feet high, black hair, and moles on side of neck and on arms, Basket is a labourer, and will probably seek employment in the North of England. Adams and Pemberton, of Stafford, and who during the night absconded stealing a blue reefer Coat, and a suit of datk tweed Clothes, the property of his fellow lodgers : about 33 years of age, 6 feet high, brown bair, no whiskers or moustache, sunburnt complexion, std of slender build; dressed in black coat, turning brown, old brown trousers, black soft billycock hat, and lace up boots Information to be given to Inspector Grattige, Guildhall, Stafford.— Bow- street, August 10. Description of HENRY PATTISON, charged on a warrant with larceny, and who failed to surrender to his ba'l on 7th instant: 44 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair and little whickers on chin, no moustache, high cheek bones, and rather prominent nose. He was station master on the South Eastern Railway at Hilaenborough, Tonbridge. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Kewell, Kent County Constabulary, Tonbridge.— Bow- street, August 10. Absconded from Glasgow, charged with stealing ,£ 57, the property of the Glasgow Tramway and Omnibus Com- pany, Limited, Cambridge- street, Glasgow, by whom he was employed as a clerk: WILLIAM MASON, a native of Tralee, Ireland, 20 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, slender make, dark hair, feminine features, broad across the cheek bones, small mouth and chin, and no hair on face ; dressed in dark clothes', and new felt hat, speaks quick with Irish accent, walks quickly with short steps; his father resides at 13, Pembroke- street, Tralee, Ireland. The Secretary of the Tramway Company offers j> 10 reward for the apprehension of the accused, and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Absconded from Broom, Norfolk, on 28th ultimo, charged with larceny, on 26th ultimo, at Bungay, St. Mary : CHAS HOWARD, a bricklayer, about 50 years of age, 5 ft. 11 ins. high, dark brown hair and whiskers; dressed in light- coloured jacket, corduroy trousers, lace- up shoes, old round felt hat, and sometimes wears a cap and dark coat. He has been previously convicted, and has served in the Norfolk Militia. Information to be given to the Police, Bungay, Suffolk.— Bow- street, August 8, Absconded : EVAN JONES, a boatman, charged at Runcorn, stealing from his boat, a quantity of Prints and Calico, when on the canal from Manchester to Liverpool: he is about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, black hair, very dark complexion, round full features, no whisker?, cut mark on one cheek, speaks with the Staffordshire accent; he is supposed to be on the Aire and Calder or Grand Junction Canal, hiss last residence was Manchester, but absconded from there on 30th ultimo. Description of SAMUEL BENNETT, alias SAM CHALMORE, who is charged on a warrant with stealing fiom a shoemaker's shop in Wigan, on lst instant, a pair of elastic- side Boots, plain toe- caps, goloshed, and newly soled ; a pair of brawn mixture angola Socks ; two white cotton Pocket- handkerchiefs ; a pair of boy's ( No. 7) levant leather elastic- side Boots, imitation toe- caps, rivetted, and the elastics fadsd; and a pair of low down Shoes, with 3 eyelet- holes, machine sewn, lined through with leather, and been worn once. He is 33 jears of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, black hair, large grey eyes, dark complexion, thin features, black moustache, a native of Glasgow, and a boot- closer by trade; dressed in blue cloth pea jacket, double- breasted dark tweed vest, both far worn, new black cord trousers, hard black billycock hat, striped cotton shirt, black and white plaid silk neckerchief, and the stolen boots ( he left his old boots behind). Absconded on 1st instant, from 27, Tottenham Court- road, St. Pancras, stealing £ i 8s. 4d. : an errand boy, 15 years of age, 4 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion and hair ; dressed in dark clothes.— Metropolitan Police, E Divi- sion, August 8. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Swanscombe, at 6 a, m. on 30th ultimo: a silver Geneva Watch, German- silver Chain, 5 silver Coins attached ; and a brown Overcoat with velvet collar ; a double- breasted tweed cloth mixture Test. By a man, about 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, no whiskers, ruddy complexion, has 3 moles left side of face, and has an impediment in his Speech, He was previously on board the' Arthusa' training ship in the River Thames off Greenhithe. Description of JESSE WARREN, charged, on a war- rant, with stealing at Litchurcb, on 27th ultimo, from a house where he lodged during the night— a black and white woollen check Shirt, a white Muffler, and a set of Shirt Studs : about 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slight ginger moustache, no beard or whiskers, dark brown hair, thin on top of head, prominent forehead, high cheekbones, full face, deeply pock- marked, the figure of a man in Indian ink on one of bis arms, other marks unknown; dressed in a light grey coat with vtlvet collar, cord trousers, elastic- side boots, and soft billycock hat; he is a bricklayer, and said he came from St. Helen's, Liverpool, and was on his way to Wolverhampton. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Lawson. Litchurch, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, August 7. Description of WALTER JENION, a navvy, of no settled residence, charged on a warrant with stealing a tame Rabbit, since recovered, on 19th instant: about 40 years of age, 6 feet 2 inches high, slender build, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, swarthy complexion; dressed in blue pilot monkey jacket, white slop, dirty moleskin trousers, soft blue cap, tuft on top, and strong lace up boots. He will probablv seek employment in a stone quarry or on railway cuttings. She stated she came from Manchester. Supposed to be a hawker. On 28 th May last: a # rty grey calico Pocket, containing 5s. l| d. in Silver and Copper, a Thimble, and a bunch of Keys. By a man who lodged in the house one night, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, slender build, light complexion, dark curly hair, and whiskers on chin; dressed in pilot cloth monkey jacket, black and white striped trousers, black billycock hat, black muffler, with peach stripe, and clogs. He stated he was a weaver, and came from Hyde. On 2nd June: a brown mixture cloth Coat, single- breasted, loose fitting, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast, and in good condition ; a double- breasted black cloth Vest, top button of right side off. By a man who had lodged in the house one night: about 30 years of age, pale complexion; dark hair, slight whiskers and moustache, had a cut mark over the left eye, and said he worked at gas works.
