Description of ROBERT JOSEPH LANGSTAFF HAVILAND, charged with inflicting grevioui bodily harm upon Dr. Hy. Bennett, at Weybridge, on 7th instant: he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and slight moustache, spare figure, and of gentlemanly appearance. Is accompanied by his wife, a German lady, about 26 years of age, and dressed in dark clothes, It is supposed he will leave this country. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Constabulary, Chertsey, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Low- street, July 18. Description of ROBERTSON FRANCIS MORRIS, and JEANNETTE MORRIS, his wife, who failed to appear to their bail, at the Bucks Assizes, holden at Aylesbury, on 2nd instant, when the grand jury found a bill of indictment against them, for maliciously wounding Caroline Carter : Robertson Francis Morris is 26 years cf age, 5 feet 8:> inches high, dark brnwn hair, grey eyes, full face, fair complexion, a native of Tavistock, Devon, and has a wart on back of right hand ; and Jeannette Morris is 30 years of age, looks older, short statue, brown hair, cut short, on forehead, and fringe, grey eyes, oval face, fair complexion, a native of Berwick, has lost several teeth in top and bottom jaw. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hardman, Great Witley, near Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- sireet, July 23. Further information respecting the burglary at the vicarage, Staplefield, Sussex, advertised in the Police Gazette of 16th instant : a Telescope, with polished wooden frame with brass fittings and about 10 inches long when closed, was also stolen ; the largest lens is slightly cracked. A reward of £ 10 will be paid to any one who will give such informa- tion as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in pro- portion to the amount recovered. Information to ba given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superin- tendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex.— Bvw- sireet, July 23. On the night of 10th instant, Mill Hall House, Cuckfield, was broken and entered and stolen therein ; the property of T, W. Erie, Esq.: a velveteen Shooting Coat, lined with pink flannel, two breast pockets, each made to button ; and other Clothing stolen. Supposed by two men, between 20 and SO years of age, about 5 feet 6 ioche:) high ; one dressed in blue Buit, black round hat, and thin boots ; the other dressed in grey coat, black round hat, and thin boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex,— Bow- at., July 20 Oxfordshire, on 15th. instant: ten Lambs, six of the Welsh, breed, and four halt bred, the property of Mr, Henry Lock, of Woodstock. Further information respecting the black Gelding stolen at Hilperton Marsh, advertised in the Police Gazette of 11th instant: it has been traced on the canal side through part of Berks and Oxon. beyond the city of Oxford, in the possession of a man from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes and bard bowler hat. £ 5 reward is offered by the owners for the recovery of the Horse and con- viction of the offender or offenders. Found straying at Penkridge, on 7th instant, and sup- posed stolen : a strong bay cart Horse, aged, straight fetlock in off fore leg, wound on right bip, star on forehead, and in fair condition. Stolen from the person, at Preston, on tha night of 21sc instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 56179, maker, J. S. Fletcher, Preston, and ' J. S. Fletcher' on dial, silver hinges and white dial. Stolen from the person of Annie Daley, at the Clown's Cricket Match at Tunbridge Wells, on 21st instant: a small silver Geneva Watch, maker Wilshire, Oxford- street, No. 16894. Information to be given to the Chief of Police, Town Hall, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen from the person tf a gentleman whilst at Edge Hill Railway Station, on 16th instant: a gold Watch, richly chased, No. 4697, maker Lowe, Chester, £ 2 reward will be given on its recovery and eonvietion of the offender or offenders. Y AIB H0U1OI During the night of the 20th instant, the shop of Mr. William Killick, Inkpen- common, Hungerford, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : three pairs of corduroy Trousers, new ; about 40 yards cf brown aad dark grey Linsey, in different lengths ; and about 72 Farthings. Between 9 a. m. and 1 p. m. on 19th instant, the dwelling- house of William Davis, at Rock, Worcestershire, waa broken and entered, and stolen therein : a velveteen Jacket, two pockets outside, and three inside, brown metal buttons with animals heads on them ; a brown velveteen vest, with similar buttons to those on the jacket; a pair of woollen cord Trousers, nearly new; a dark grey cloth Vest, grey back; a dirty white Siop; 4 Sovereigns and 2 Half Sovereigns. Stolen from Troedyraur, on 7 h instant, the property of H. Chichester, Esq. : a thorough- bred bay Mare, aged, several white marks on bank under saddle, broken knees ; aud a dark bay Mara, aged, both about 15 hands higb, and tails cut square. Information to ba given to Mr. Super- intendent Lloyd, Llandyssil, Cardiganshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Found on 22nd instant, in Luton, and supposed to have been stolen : a dark bay Mars, aged, about 15 hands high, white star on forehead, 3 white marks on near side, and black legs. Information to be given to Head Constable Jaquest, Borough Police Office, Luton, Beds — Bow- street, July 27. Obtained on 20th instant, by false pretences, from Downshire Hill, Hampstead : a light bay Horse, 15£ hands ! high, white star on forehead, and a chesnut Mare, 15 hands 3 inches high ; also two Saddles and Bridles. By two men: ! one 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, rather stcut; dressed in grey suit, and rink cap ; the other 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark coraplexiou ; dressed in daik j tweed suit, and black felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, S Divi- sion, July 25. Stolen during the night of 2lst instant, from a stable at Sparkbrook : a dark brown Hare, half bred, aged, about 16ijr hands high, bang tail, saddle marts on near side, and shod with round shoe on near fore foot; also a set of silver mounted Harness, traces have beeu repaired, and new end to breaching straps, £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the mare and harness Information to ba given to Mr. Superintendent Mapp, Police Office, Kings Heath, Worcestershire.— Bote- street, July 25. Description of THOMAS JONES, of Rhosllancburgog, Denbighshire, who is charged with stealing a Donkey ( recovered) on 10t. h instant at Sychtyn, Salop, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, no whiskers, light moustache, long narrow features, weak eyes, aud turns his J'eet out when walkiag ; dressed in a single- breasted old long dark cloth coat, buttoned close to the neck, moleskin trousers, hard felt hat, and blucher boots. He is a labourer, has worked in the colliery, and absconded on 11th when he was offering the Donkey for sale at the Cefn. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, Shropshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen, supposed by boatmen, from Chasatown Wharf stables, between 9 and 10 p m. 19? h instaut: a chesnut Horse, aged, 16 hands higb, white face, shod flat, aud tail cut square ; the property of Mr. Edward Evans, St. Vincent street, Bir- mingham. Information to be given to Mr. Superinterdent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen from a field at Tunbridge Wells, during the night of 20th instant: a chestnut mare Pony, marked on nearside, thin and poor looking ; also a male Donkey, with datk stripes on the sides. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Northleigh, IMISlirsr AMI Absconded on 24th instant, from 8, Tysoe- street, Clerkenwell, stealing £ 7 : a youth, 18 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, and very bad on ftis feet; dressed iu black suit and billycock hat, shabby, a porter, and likely to be found with a youth who works for a billposter in Bloomabury, — Metropolitan Police, G Division, July 27. Stolen from a cottage at Keynsham, on 23id instant: an open- faced English lever silver Watch, maker ' William Glass, Biistol' on inside case; a blue pilot cloth single- breasted Overcoat, outside pockets with flaps, black velvet collar, and black Buttons ; a dark plaid Vest; and a pair of dark Trousers. By a lodger, who has absconded, named JOHN SMITH, about 25 years of age, slim build, rather smart appearance, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, no or : v. u^ tache, ajid . dsrk or smnbr ;> t com- plexion ; dressed in dark plaid suit, 4b8' iwfrd bu « r! er hat. Has been employed in livery stablea at Cardiff and Man- chester. He stated that he intended going to some stables in Leeds. Absconded on 19th instant from Costley, charged on a warrant with stealing three Ducks at Gospel End, Sedgley : THOMAS HAYWOOD, a miner, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, light brown hair, grey eyes, supposed fair complexion, slender build ; cheesed iu lound moleskin jacket, light colour trousers, and black cap. Information to be given to Inspector Tomlinson, Police Office, Sedgley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 27. Absconded from Glasgow, charged on a sheriff's warrant, with having on 2.1st lestant, stolen : a diamond collet Necklet, of about 48 atonep, centre stone weighing about 3 carats, the other stones diminishing in size towards the ends, nil set in silver, with gold backs ; a diamond band Bracelet, of 17 jointed squares, with largo diamond in centre of each square, atid fillea in with small diamonds ; a lady's 3 strne diamond Ring, large centre stone, weighing 3 j carats, other two stones together weighing 2fT'- u- carats, all single, cut at back, and square shaped ; the property of Messrs. James lUuishead and Sons, jewelleis, 90, Buchanan- street, Glasgow. A man who used the name of VISCOUNT GEORGES DE FONTENAY, of 12, Grosvenor- crescent, Belgrave- square, London, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 it c lea high, sallow complexion, small dark whiskers and moustache, darb heavy eyebrows, black hair, cut short, very white teeth, slender make, walks erect, spoke English imperfectly, and is supposed to be a Frenchman ; dressed in a dark eoit and vest, grey trousers, black scarf with single stone diamond pin, and a small single stone claw set diamond ring on fioger. Messrs. Muirhead and Sons offer £ 300 reward. £ 250 to be paid for the recovery of the diamonds, or in proportion to the amount recovered ; and £ 50 to be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the accused. Information to be given to Chief Constable M'Call, Glasgow.— Bow- street, July 27. A warrant has been issued at Tan bridge Wells, for the apprehension of RUPERT DAVEY, a journeyman tailor, on a charge of stealing a. suit of Clothes, found" pledged, on 19th instant., on which day he absconded : ho is about 26 yrs. of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, very stout, ginger whiskers, hair a little darker. Information to ba given to the Chief of Police, Tunbridge Wells, Kent.— Bow- street, July 27. Description of URIAH HARDCASTLE, a travelling clock and watch cleaner, late of Normanby, near Eston, charged with stealing a Weather Glass, on 31st December last, the property of William Booth, of Borrowby : he is between £ 0 and 55 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, gre? hair and whiskers, and full faxe| much blotched ; generally dresses iu old dark coat and vest, moleskin trousers, and old black round hat, ail greasy and dirty. He travels about the country cleaning clocks, & c., and is much addicted to drink. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— B< nr- sireet, July 25. Further information respecting the man charged with stealing Money at the « Black Swan Hotel,' Langport, Somer 2 POLICE GAZETTE, July 27 set ( advettisad in the Police Gazette of 18th instant) : he ia supposed to be the same man who committed similar offences at the ' Elephant and Castle Inn,' Leominster, Herefordshire, advertised in the Police Gazette of 16th May last; at the ' Talbot Inn,' Evesham, Worcestershire, and advertised in the Police Gazette of 29th ultimo; at the ' Boot Inn,' Tetbury, Gloucestershire, advertised in tbe Police Gazette of 29th ult. ; and at the ' George and Dragon,' Newbury, Bfrks, advertised in the Police Gaziitte of 2nd instant. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hardwick, Somerset Constabulary, Somerton.— Bow- steet, July 25. Description of GEORGE THOMPSON, late a shunter at the Stafford Railway Station, who absconded on 24th ult., charged with embezzling £ 13 103. 3d., the monies of the London and North Western Railway Company: he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, very light brown hair and moustache, no whiskers or beard, weak eyes, large pro- minent teeth and lipa, scar on left cheek ; dressed iu dark tweed jacket, trouatrs and vest, light soft felt hat, and elastic side boots. He is a native of Colwich, near Stafford, and has friends at Chester and Huddersfield. Information to be given to Mr. G. Ecales, Railway Detective Department, Euston Station, London, or to the Deputy Cnief Constable of Stafford.- Bow- street, July 25. Description of ROBERT DOUBLEDAY, a native of Moulton Marsh, charged on a warrant with having on 19th instant, at Holbeach, stolen 30 Cigars from the bar of the Bell Inn, the property of Annie Bingham : he is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, slight moustache, and no whiskers; dressed in a dark cloth coat and vest, light grey trousers, light necktie with dark spot in it, stiff billycock hat, and side- spring boots; he was waiter at an hotel, and has a smart appearance. He has been in London during the last two years, and is well known in billiard rooms. Information to be given to Mr. Superin- tendent Leaper, Spalding, or to Inspector Ward, Holbeach, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, July 23. Absconded, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 30 in Gold : JOHN F. PESCOD, 18 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, ruddy complexion, and dark hair ; dressed in dark blue ribbed walking coat and vest, dark trousers, light stripe at sides, and black felt deerstalker hat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. G. - Bow- street, July 23. Description of REUBEN GOODMAN, late a commer- cial traveller in the employ of David Joseph, jeweller, & c., cf No. 66, Benacre- street charged on a warrant with embezzling the sum of £ 1 4s., the monies of his employer : he is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, whisk ere, and moustache, cast iu one eye, bald top of head, and stoops; he is a German Jew, and speaks with a German accent. Information to be given to Major Bond, Chief of Police, Birmingham, Warwickshire.— — Bow- street, July 23. Stolen on the morning of 17th instant, from the dwelling bouse of James O'Keefe, Beacon- street, Lichfield : 18a. 6d. in silver Money. By a tailor who had been lodging in the house a fortnight, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slight build, fair complexion, small whiskers, no Moustache ; dressed in light tweed suit, and soft black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Hernaman, Guildhall, Lichfield, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen from a dwelling house at Dartford, during tbe night of 19th instant: a damask table Cloth, a linen ditto, a white Shirt, 3 linen Collats, 1 Btriped cotton Shirt, 2 pairs of unbleached cotton Socks, a Eilk Umbrella, 2 Walking Sticks, a carpet Bag, a clothes Brush, several Books, a small Timepiece, and a pair of boy's side- spring Boots. By a man who lodged in the house one night, and represented that he was buying fruit for a salesman in Covent Garden Market, he is about. 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pockmarked, dark whiskers and hair; dressed in dark trousers and vest, light coat, and light cloth round hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford, Kent .- Bow- street, July 23. Stolen from a bedroom at the ' Bull' inn, in the parish of Yalding, near Maidstone, Kent, on 9th instant: a coach- man's dark blue Overcoat, with plain silver plated buttons, has been darned at one corner of the flap, had a pair of brown leather Gloves in one pocket; a railway porter's dark corduroy Jacket, brass button?, with ' Midland Railway' on them. . By THOMAS WATERS, alias TOM THE DEVIL, a farm labourer, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches higb, dark complexion, hair, aud whiskers, aud is lame ; dressed in twill jickst, dirty corduroy trousers and vest, black soft billycock hat, and heavy lace- up boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hulse, Police Station, West Mailing, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow street, July 23. Description of JAMES McQUAYDEN, alias McQUAYN, charged on a warrant with stealing, at Wigan, a Chimney Sweeper's Machine. He is about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair, very high forehead, fair complexion and thin features, and no whiskers or mous- tache ; dressed in dirty white linen jacket, dark moleskin trousers, dark cap, and clogs. He was convicted at Newcas- tle- on- Tyne about 18 months ago of Smothering a Boy in a Chimney, Infoimation to be given to Chief Constable Williams, Wigan, Lancashire.— Bow- street, July 23. Absconded on 16th instant, from Blandford, charged with stealing a quantity of Flints, tbe property of James John Farquharson, Esq.: REUBEN CHRISTOPHER, 35 years of age, fresh complexion, light brown hair, cast in one eye, stoutly build, little sandy whiskers, and a bruise on one knuckle of right forefinger ; dressed in a white slop, cord trousers, black bowler hat, heavy lace up boots, nearly new. he will probably be working as a bricklayers or farm labourer or as a navvy. His wife left with him, she is about 34 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout build, daik brown hair, very dark complexion, and rough full face ; dressed in Dlack velvet hat, dark dress, black j icket. She is of drunken habits. They are likely to be at a low public house or lodging house. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Underwood, Blandford, Dorset, who holds a Warrant for the man's appre- hension.— Bow- street, July 23. Stolen on 17th instant, from 34, Craven- terrace, Padding- ton : £ 45. By a man, 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, slight dark brown moustache, whiskers shaved off, and is a butcher; dressed in light tweed suit, high hat, and patent leather boots, blue cloth tops.— Metro- politan Police, X Division, July 20. Description of AGNES AMELIA NIXON, charged with stealing from the dwelling- house of Margaret Shotton, of Cornsay, near Durham, on 12th instant: a pocket Book, containing three £ 5 Notes, one of them Bank of England ; £ 15 in Gold; and a black Coburg quilted Petticoat: she! on bis face; dressed in an old double- breasted blue clotb has been em loyed for the last 6 weeks as nurse to jacket, a pair of old moleskm trousers, and old cloth cap; 1 J . .. , ^- r. - . . . . Mrs. Shotton, who is an invalid : Nixon is about 44 years of age, medium height, dark complexion and eyes, proportionate figure, pockmarked, married; states she is sometimes employed as nurse at fever hospitals, speaks the Scotch dialect; she is dressed in a dark- coloured bonnet, dark alpaca dress, and a striped print skirt wearing over her dress. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Oliver, Durham County Constabulary, Consett.— Bow- street, July 20. He was liberated irom Pentonville Convict Prison on license about 12 months ago, where he was undergoing a term of 8 years penal servi tude! He was convicted at Manchester City Sessions in 1870, of stealing silk from a warehouse. He is a joiner, but represents himself to be an architectural draughtsman, and had a box of tools with him. He s'ated that he had offices at Empire jJChamber*, Manchester, which is false. He enters a draper's or clothier's shop, and asks to be measured for a suit or two of light clothes, and in a day or two afterwards calls again and states that he has just received a telegram of the death of his sister, and asks to be supplied at once with a suit of black cloth, for which he will pay when he receives the others.
