INFORMATIONS. MURDEE AIB MALICIOUSLY WOUIMIG. Description of ROBERT JOSEPH LANGSTAFF HAVILAND, charged with inflicting grevious bodily harm upon Dr. Hy. Bennett, at Weybridge, on 7th instant: he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and slight moustache, spare figure, and of gentlemanly appearance. Is accompanied by his wife, a German lady, about 26 years of age, and dressed in dark clothes. It is supposed he will leave this country. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Constabulary, < 3hertsey, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— L'ou- street, Jvly 18. Description of ROBERTSON FRANCIS MORRIS, and JEANNETTE MORRIS, his wife, who failed to appear to their bail, at the Bucks Assizes, holden at Aylesbury, on 2nd instant, when the grand jury found a bill of indictment against them, for maliciously wounding Caroline Carter : Eobertson Francis Morris is 26 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, fall face, fair complexion, a native of Tavistock, Devon, and has a wart on back of right hand ; and Jeannette Morris is 30 years of age, looks older, short statue, brown hair, cut short on forehead, and fringe, grey eyes, oval face, fair complexion, a native of Berwick, has lost several teeth in top and bottom jaw. Stolen from the person at the Winchester Railway Station, on 13th instant, a gold open- face duplex Watch, makers ' Duboix and Wheeler, No. 1804, chipped near the figure 5, with gold albert Key attached. Stolen from the person during the firing brigades com- petition at Watford, on 9ih instant: a silver hunting Watch- with the initials ' C. A. J.' on case. Charged with stealing a Sixpence and several bronze • Coins witn violence on the highway, near Solihull, on 13th instant, from the person of Emma Williams : a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, thick set figure, red freckled face, high cheek bones, full mouth of teeth, sandy hair, tuft of hair on chin, long thin nose ; dressed in a light coloured jacket, pockets on hips, light coloured vest and trousers, which appeared greasy, and billycock hat, the whole of the clothing old and dirty. The man had the appearance of a tramp. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Simmons, Coleshill, or to Inspector Yardley, Solihull, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, July 16. BURGLARY AID H © UM BREAKING. On the night of 10th instant, Mill Hall House, Cuckfield, • was broken and entered and stolen therein ; the property of T. W. Erle, Esq.: a velveteen Shooting Coat, lined with pink flannel, two breast pockets, each made to button ; and other Clothing stolen. Supposed by two men, between 20 and 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high ; one dressed in blue suit, black round hat, and thin boots ; the other dressed in grey ceat, black rcurd hat, and thin boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex.— Bow- st., July 20 Between 4 p. m. and 5 p. m. on 16th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Phillips, at Bosbury, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a dark monkey Jacket, with two outside pockets, and one inside; a grey spotted Waistcoat, no collar ; a pair of men's grey plaid trousers, fly fronts. By a tramp, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, sandy hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a dark cloth jacket, old grey cloth trousers, old boots, cut up the front, and billycock hat. Infor- mation to be given to Mr. Superintendent Blunsdon, Police Station, Ledbury, Herefordshire.— Bonn- street, July 18. Between 8 a. m. and 10 p. m. on 9th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Ashby, schoolmaster of St. Andrews, Watford, was broken into, and a gold scarf Pin, and a gold pencil Case Stolen. Information to be given to Inspector Chapman, Watford, Herts.— Bow- street, July 16. On the night of 10th instant, between 12 and 3 a. m, the vicarage at Staplefield, Sussex, was entered by a window which was left unfastened, and stolen therein : a private Communion Service, consisting of small Plate and Cup, silver gilt, a picture engraved on the plate, representing the twelve Apostles ; a small glass Flask, with gold top ; two pairs of white cricketing Trousers and a Jacket; a black clerical Waistcoat; two pairs of gentlemen's Boots, one lace, the other button ; a Brush and a Comb ; a pair of lawn tennis Boots, made of brown leather and canvas, and India rubber soles ; and several Pipes, one silver mounted, the property of the Rev. P. C. Clarke. Supposed by two men who were seen near the house : both between 20 and 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high ; one dressed in blue suit, black round hat, and thin boots ; the other dressed in grey coat, black round hat, and thin boots ; they were traced through Redhil], and are supposed to have gone on to Crcydon. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex,— Bow- street, July 16. During the night of 9th instant, the dwelling- house of ( Mrs. Batchelor, at Cuckfield, was entered by a window which was left unfastened, and stolen therein : a large table Cover, with flowered border; an old silver pencil Case ; a Bmall magnifying Glass ; a pot of Jam ; and a few Stamps. Sup- posed by two men between 20 and 30 years of age, and about 5 feet 6 inches high ; one dressed in blue suit, round black hat, and thin boots ; the other dressed in grey coat, black round hat, and thin boots; they were traced through Redhill, and are supposed to have gone on to Croydon. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Mr. Superintendent Pocock, Cuckfield, Sussex.— Bcnc- st., July 16. Some time between 10 a m. and 8 pm. on 11th instant, the dwelling- house of Wm. Roberts, labourer-, Berrington, near Tenbury, was broken iuto and stolen thmein : 5s. in Money, among which were three new bronze Halfpsnnies, an old leather Purse with [ steel clasp; a white calico Shirt with linen front; a silk Neckerchief with pale blue border. Also stolen at the same time and place, the property of a lodger : a suit of dark grey Clothes, nearly new, the Jacket has two out- side pockets on hips and one inside lefc breast, and which contained three Carte- de- Visits, one Portrait of a soldier and one a female ; two Pocket- hand kerchiefs, one white the other white with red border ; a pair of men's watertight Boots, nailed with square headed nail?, those in the heels somewhat larger than those in the soles ; and a soft billycock Hat, with broad rim, and crown fails in. Two men of the following description are suspected : one about 26 or 27 years of age, rather thin, sunburnt complexion, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and supposed to be wearing the stolen Clothes and Boots. The other about 21 or 2- 2 years of age, round features, stout build, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sunburnt com- plexion ; dressed in old dark clothes and shoes. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hardman, Police Office, Great Witley, near Stourport, Worcestershire. — Bow- tlree!, Julv 16. Between 3 30 and 6 p. m. on 10th instant.. the dwelling- house of Mr. William Stokes Gregg, at Mansfield, was feloniously broken into and entered during the temporary absence of the faniily. and stolen therein : 1 nickle silver Cream Jug, with slight floral pattern, handle with flat top, inside of jug gilded. 1 lady's gold Geneva Watch, No 60155. 1 gentleman's silver lever Witch, with silver dial and seconds hand. 2 gold Guards, link pattern, one containing two gold propelling pencil cases, one large gold locket, with blue circle and gold cross inlaid, one smaller gold locket and a long garnet seal. 1 gold Brooch, with garnet centre, ore a mental. 1 large gold Broocb, centre amethyst and small anuthysts on each side. I small silver Brooch, centre garnet acd inlaid with small stones. 1 lady's gold Ring, nine turquoises. 1 ditto, set with emeralds and pearls. 1 ditto, with garnet and pearls. £ 8 in Money, mostly silver. 1 bottle of Brandy and 1 bottle of Rum. Supposed by a man, about 35 years of ag?, 5 feet 5 inches high, respectably dressed in a black suit, with hard black felt hat, and had on elastic- side boots, vm clean shaven, and carrying a small brown paper parcel, about 10 inches square, and offering steel pens for sale. .£ 10 reward will be paid for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, on application to Mr. Superintendent Bexon, Police Station, Mansfield, Notts. — Bow- street, July 16. Further information respecting the two men advertised in the Police Gazette of 6th instant, charged with breaking into the dwelling- house of William Pugh, of Burghope, Here- fordshire, on 30th ultimo, and stealing a pair of Boots, recovered, and a red and black silk Handkerchief : the first is about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high ; dressed in a white slop, and jimcrow hat, with the brim turned down, carried a bag on hia back, and had the appearance of a navvy; the other is a soldier, about 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high ; dressed in a jacket with yellow braid across the breast, trousers with red stripe, and cap with yellow band. It has been ascertained this man was in custody at Welshpool, and discharged on 11th instant, and stated he was going to Wrexham, Denbigh- shire. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Cope, Hereford.— Bow- street, July 16. MOBSli AMU CATTLE STEALINGS Found straying at Penkridge, on 7th instant, and sup- posed stolen : a strong bay cart Horse, aged, straight fetlock in off fore leg, wound on right hip, star on forehead, and in fair condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Buckley, Penkridge, Staffordshire.— Baxo- ttreei, July 20. Stolen from Stanley, near Bridgnorth, on 13 th instant: a light- coloured entire Donkey, the property of Sir H. T. Tyrwhitt, Bart., Stanley Hall, near Bridgnorth. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Christie, Bridgnorth, Salop.— Bow- street, July 20. Further information respecting the Horse stolen at Hilperton Marsh : it has been traced to Swindon, in the possession of a man about 25 years of age, and dressed in dark grey clothes, who was riding it without bridle or saddle, using only a halter, and was supposed to be passing up the cmal towing path, and making his way through Berkshire to London. The horse is a very showy handsome nag, with a very Bmall head, a little hair has been recently rubbed off on the back, with the saddle, the back part of the mane is also very short from mounting, the small white spot described, and tbe white hoof may have been dyed. £ 5 reward will be given to any person giving such information and evidence as shall lead to the recovery of the horse, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Mr. Super- intendsnt White, Trowbridge, Wilts.— Bow- slreet, July 18. Found straying at High Ongar, on 10th instant, and supposed stolen : a bay cob Mare, about 13 hands high, black legs, off hind fetlock white, tail cut short, aged, and in fair condition, stands at livery. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Simpson, Epping, or to Inspector Robinson, Police Station, Chipping Ongar, Essex.— Bow- street, July 16. Absconded from Whitstable, on 12th instant, charged on a warrant with stealing a Pony and Carriage since recovered : a man, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 2 iaches high, rather dark complexion, few whiskers on cheeks, hair cut short; dressed in dark jacket, dark overcoat, dark plaid trousers, sealskin vest, and black hard felt hat. He is a groom, native of London, but has been living at Faversham and Whitstable, and will most likely seek employment as ostler at hotels, Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent Walker, Kent Constabulary, Canterbury. — Bout- street, July 16. Description of AGNES AMELIA NIXON, charged with stealing from the dwelling- house of Margaret Shotton, of Corn fay, near Durham, on 12th instant: a pocket Book, ontainiog three £ 5 Notes, one of them Bank of England ; £ 15 in Gold; and a black Coburg quilted Petticoat: she has been emj. 1 > yed for the last 6 wetks as nurse to Mrs. Sbotton, who is an invalid : Nixon is about 44 years of age, medium height, dark complexion and eyes, proportionate figure, pockmarked, married; states she is sometimes em] I iyed as nurse at fever hospital*, speaks the Scotch dialect; she is dressed in a dark- coloured bonnet, dark alpaca dress, and a striped print skirt wearing over her dress. G., KR W.': a man, a rag and bone gatherer, about EOjeaisof age, very dark and swarthy complexion ; dressed in an old blue coat and trousers, and a hard black felt bat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Haigh, Chief Constable's Office, Kidderminster, Manchester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 20. Stolen on 6th instant, between 10 and 11 a m., from a stable at Temon Farm, Upper Denton, Cumberland: a rough light grey tweed Jacket, two pockets outside, and one inside left breast, the body has d rk lining, the sleeves with grey calico, and much worn at the wrists ; a pair of strong water- tight Boots, much worn. Supposed by a man who had been • working on the farm for 12 days, and who got a ticket at the Brampton Police Station on the night of 24th ultimo, he said he came from Working, and was going to Newcastle, he is 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion', dark brown hair and moustache, no whiskers, week eyes, slender figure, and walks rather lame with the left l » g ; dressed in dark ^ roy jacket i nd vest, two pockets outside, light moles> c in trouaeis, mended on the knee with white thread, black soft bilycoek hit, ami wearing the stolen boots, and pro- bably the stolen jacket. Stolen during the night of the 10th instant, from an outhouse on the premises of the Gayton Brickwork Company, near Blisworth. the property of William Johnson, bricklayer, Gayton : a chip Basket, with grey binding, sack bottom, and window blind cord attached to the handles; three brick- layers' Trowels, ' W. H. S.' on blades, one new, the others worn ; a pair of Lines with Pins ; and two brown Pilot Jackets, much worn, one sleeve on one of the jackets is loBger than the other sleeve, both sleeves beiug bound with rough dark braid. By a man who worked f ir a few days at the Canal- wharf, from 55 to 60 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches higb, dark brown hair, and dirty appearance ; dressed in dirty moleskin trousers, snuff- coloured cip, tied on the top with string, and militia boots with tips on the heels ; stated be had bean iu the army, and was wounded duriDg tbe Crimean war in the left knee, from which he walks lame, and that he is ia receipt of Is 7d. per day as pension. H is known to most of the lock keepers and boatmen on the caaal between Hapten and Birmingham ; he has recently worked at i h; Bottom Lock, near Warwick. Stolen on 11th instant, from the Home for Incurables, Clapham- road : 4 £ 5 Bank of England Notes, and £ 5 in Gold. By a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark cnmplexion, bald top of head; dress, light check suit. Metropolitan Police, W Division, July 18. Stolen about 6 p m. on the 16th instant, from a bedroom at the ' Blsck Swan Hotel,' Langpool, the property of Mr. A. G. Prude : about ilO in Gold, £ i ia Silver, and a number of 3d., 4d , and 6 '. pieces, and a Is. piece pierced through. By a mao, who lodged there fir two nights, and stated that he was a jeweller, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, swarthy complexion, dark brown hair ( jut short) and mous- tache, otherwise clean shaved, and thort broad nose ; dressed in a soft black bowler hat, black cloth jacket, pockets outside, plaid vest and trouaerp, and blucber boots. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hardwick, Somerset Con- stabulary, Somerton.— Bow- street, July 18. Description of THOMAS LOVATT, who absconded from Norbury on 1st instant, charged with stealing four Fowls and one S. tck ( recovered), and one stable Key ; tbe property of Mr. Derrington Turner, Norbury, near Newport ; he was groom to Mr. Turner, is about 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, light hair, grey eyes, fair complexion, stout built, and a native of Sutton, near Newport; dressed in a new suit of plaid elotb, elastic- side boots, and straw hat. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Crisp, Stone, or to Sergeant Hall, Eccleshall, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 18. Description of JAMES HAYWOOD ALLEN, alias JAMES HAYWOOD, who absconded from Oxford, ou 6th instant, stealing £ 10 iu Gold and a black andred plaid Shirt: he is between 40 and 50 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, long thin face and nose, brown hair, and grey eye3 ; dressed in a short mixture cutaway eoat, darkish mixture trousers, dark cloth waistcoat, blue necktie, soft billycock hat, with dark red lining, ' Exposition Universal' in white inside, red plaid ( stolen) shirt, and new lace- up boot?. A chimney sweep, walks peculiarly with knees bent, and hollow back. Has friends residing at Peckham, and is known in that neighbourhood. Informa- tion to be given to Mr, Superintendent Head, Oxford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, July 18. Stolen from a dwelling bouse at Middlesbrough, on 14th instant: a pepper and salt colour shooting Coat, tive pockets outside, trimmed with three pink buttons on each side, and two on each cuff; a black cloth double breasted Vest; a pair of dark tweed Trousers; and a black and white Muffler. By GEORGE COOK, who lodged at the house for about two months, and who absconded on morning of 14th instant, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, proportionate figure, dark brown curly hair, very slight whiskers and moustache, rather bow legged; dressed in a black velvet cap, strong laced boots, and the stoltn clothes. He is a labourer in iron- works and shipyards, and is supposed to be a native of Sunderland. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middlesbrough, York- shire.— Bow- street, July 16. Description of SARAH ANN RICHER, alias SARAH ANN HOUSEGO, charged with a man named RICHER, who is in custody, with stealing several Pillows and Cases, Sheets, Blanket*, & c., from a ready furnished house which they occupied at Peterborough : she ia about 39 or 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, lather slender build, hair turning grey, rather inclined to curl, which she wears down her back, has a very polite way when talking to anyone, of good education and very ladylike iu her appearance, has the skin off both her hands inside through biting them ; dressed in an old dirty brown or Hue skirt with a white top, black crape bonnet, Uce- up shoes, and grey shawl with fringe, one corner of which is torn. She is a l. aiVe of Saint Ives, and may be making her way to London. Information to be given to the Head Constable, Borough Police Office, Peterborough, Northamptonshire, who h « lis a warrant for her apprehen- sion.— Bow street, July 16. Absconded, charged cn a warrant with stealing a gold Ring at Sevenoaks, ou 23rd June last: FREDERICK HIS- COCK, from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, rather thick set,? sallow complexion, ciaik hair, very high forehead, slightly bald, bad teeth, small dark mous- tache, whiskers shaved off, tip of one finger deformed from an injury; dressed when last seen in a tweed suit, and hard felt hat. Spoke with a Dorsetshire dialect, and stated he had been cairying on a farm for his mother at Gillingham, in that county. Information to be given to Mr. Superinten- dent O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent— Bow- street, July 16. Absconded on 12th instant, from No. 33, Sloane- square Chelsea, stealing £ 52 in gold, and four Cheques on the London and County Bank ( one dated 7th instant, payable to John Walkden and Co., for £ 9 lis.; one payable, to Brown, Davis, and Co., for £ 4 9s. ; one payable to Leaf, Son, and Co., for £ 4 lis. 9d.; and the other payable to William and Son, for £ 68 2s.),— a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches _ jgh pale complexion, blotched face, dark brown eyes, dark hair, and slight beard and moustache ; dressed iu a black cutaway coat and vest, light mixture trousers, high black hat, square black necktie, side- spring boots, and wore a gold watch and chain. Parents reside at 11, Wayland- avenue, Dalston Rise, Hackney.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, July 16. Stolen from a dwelling- house on 14th instant: a gold lever Watch, large size, gold face, steel hands, and slide of the cap broken off; a silver lever Watch, No. 50755, cream coloured dial, gold hands, maker I. THORLEY, who formerly resided at Eagle Wharf- road, Islington, London, remanded till 28th instant, at Aston, near Birmingham, charged with obtaining money by false pretences, with intent to defraud : he is about 40 years of age, but looks younger, 5 feet 8 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, stout build, and has a scar on the back of left hand : his modus operandi has been to advertise in, newspapers circulating in England and Scotland, in the- following manner, viz : money advanced at short notice, to- gentlemen, traders, farmers, and all respectable persons, in- sums from £ 30 to £ 50^, at 7 per cent., from 12 months to 7 years, on their own note of hand alone, apply to Mr. T. Thorley, 13, Francis- street, Tottenham Court- road, London, W. C, which is a small newepiper shop, and kept by another person, and when applied to, he sends out a lithographed document bearing the following motto, in a circular belt, ' Felicitas Multos Habet Amicas,' at the top of same which directs the applicant to forward 7s. 6d. in postage stamps, for inquiry fees, he afterwards sends out another lithographed document, bearing a similar motto to the above, and copy of a promissory note, written iu a feminine hand, this latter document leads the applicants to believe that their applica- tions are granted, upon conditions that they forward by P. O O. the amount of the first years interest, and should the applicants comply with that, he again writes to them, to the effect that he has been busily engaged in prosecuting a fraudulent borrower, and the judge having decided against him in consequence of his not witnessing the signature to the promissory note, he has been advised by his solicitor to witness all signatures to his promissory notes for the future, and to enable him to do that, he asks for a further sum to cover travelling expenses, & e,, upon receipt of which, he will immediately start with tbe money applied for ; he has also been identified as ROBERT J. Stated that he had been living at No. 6, Warwick- street, Woolwich, for the last eight months, and that he had been six years in the Police Force of some town, but refused to say where. ISAIAH TIMMINGS, who is under police supervision until 7th July, 1879, who failed to report himself on 2nd instant, and has left Olabury without giving notice: he is 33 years of age. 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, marked with the letter ' D' on hi* left side, and bracelet marks on each wrist. He was convicted of burglary at Stafford Summer Assizes, 1865 ; at Worcester Lent Assizes, 1867, for a like offence; and at Stafford on 7th March, 1874, for stealing a Shirt. He has also been summarily convicted for Watch stealing, for assault, and has since his discharge from Stafford Gaol on 8ili June, 1874, undergone three terms of imprisonment for offences against the Prevention of Crimes Act.
