About 3 p m. on 17th instant, the dead body of a new born female child, was found near the road on Broomgrove farm, wrapped iu a piece of calico and a ' Standard ' news- paper, of 3id insfaut At the Coroners ii quest a veidict of * Wilful Murder against some peisou or persons uukuown' was returned. Information to be given at the Chief Con- stables Offi.- e, Lowes, or to Mr. Superintendent Jeffery, guestling, hastings, Sussex.— Bow- street, April 25. On 13th instant, the Body of a female infant Child, un- known, was fouud in the River Tyne, near the Mill Dam, • South Shields, wrapped tip iu a piece of old oilskin, fastened • with wire to a ball of lead about 5 lbs. iu weight, used by fishermen, tbe lead has 3 small copper tacks in form of a triangle. The body of the child had received several stabs in the back, and one leg had been cut off, also one foot. A verdict of ' Wilful Murder by some person or persons uukuown' has been returned by the Coroner's jury. £ 50 reward will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to auy person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of Stace will advise tbe grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such infor- mation as shall lead to a like resuir, Information to be given to the river Police at the Police, Station, Middle Dock Landing, South Shields — Boon- strtn. ROBERTSON, o rp ral Royal Marine Light Infantry, having forged a Cheque for £ 22, drawn on t. he Devon and cornwall Bank at Exeter, purporting to be signed by Arthur H H Walsh, Captain R M. Lt. I. Robertson left, Exeter on 16th instant for Portsmouth, using a forged Admiralty Railway warrant. On 17t, h instant he pro- ceeded from Poitsmou'h by rail to Coshara, from thence he has not been traced. He was in uniform ( regimental tunic with three good conduct badges) when he left Exeter, and lad with tnui a bundle ef clothes ( black cut- away coat, dark tweed trousers and waistcoat, and black bowler hat). He was • wearing a ring on the little fiuger of his left hand, which was a very tight, tic. His mother lives ia Liverpool, and he has relations residing at Southsea, Hants. Al- o Muleu from the person at Bolton, about 10 30 p. m. on 23rd instant: a Geneva Watch, inner case brass, aud the outer case silver, pUin white dial, gold hauas and seconds finger, has the word ' Compound' engraved on the back of the inside case, hid attached a gold Albert Chain, curb pattern, with small plate at one end marked ' 9 C.' ; a pocket Knife; two safe Keys; and two other Keyn on a ring. By two men, both about 40 or 45 years of ago, 5 feet, 5 inches high, rather su. ut made, full faces, and boih dressed alike, similar to out door labourers, and had ou soft black billycock hats. During the night of 17th instant, the LlanfylUu Railway Station was broken and entered and stolen therein : 23 Six- pences and 3s. in Copper Monies. Supposed by a man who was seen coming by the last train the night before tbe rob- bery. He produced a railway ticket from Shrewsbury to Llanfylliu, vi& Buttingfcon ; about 35 years of age, 5 ft. 6 or 7 inches high, slender make, appeared to have one eye nearly closed or blind, dark complexion, black hair and moustache, whiskers and beard shaved otf; dressed in blue cloth jacket, corduroy trousers, and black felt hat. IK'CW Absconded, charged with stealing on the night of 9th instant, from a stable, a Horse and Harness ( recovered) : » man who gave the iiaaie of SAMUEL ROYLE. of Giants Seat Rock, Ringley, about 56 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, moderately stout, full round lace, sal ow coui plexiou, shaves all off face, hair turuing grey, nose flattened UJ centre, has blue cut marks ou various parts of the face, blind boil under left eye, slightly bow- legged, limps a little wbtii walking, looks peculiarly with one eye, aud speaks with tbe Wigan accent ; he was dressed in an old tweed shooting coat, which ia far worn at the elbows, tweed vest, striped printed slate coloured moleskin trousers, with patch on each e^ ch knee and piece of bed- ticking stitched on oue thigh, cloth'cap, and lace- up boots. Stolen on 21st instant: a small cbesntit gelding Pony, aged, about 11 bands high, white face, tail cut. short, hog tuaoe, short ears, chipped knees. Also a small brown village Cart, with dark wheels, bvass mouu'ed, harness rather old. By a man, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 imhes high, dark complexion, thin face, few dark whiskers, lost 2 or 3 fiont teeth ; dressed in light overcoat, black coat uurlerneath, dark trousers, round felt hat, and carried a small bag. Description of a man charged on a warrant with stealing a Pony, Trap, and Harness ( since recovered) ; JOHN ALLEN', alias GEO. BUTLER, alias GEO. COOPER, 23 yrs. of age, 5 ft. 9 ins. high, fresh complexion, fair hair, and blue eyes; a deserter from Oxon Militia aud a native of Chelten- ham, where he had a relative a butcher ; he is also known at Tewkesbury. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Head, Oxford.— Bow- street, April 23. Stolen on 17th instant, from afield adjoining Bell House, College- road, Dulwich : 9 South- Down Yearling Sheep, recently had foot and mouth disease. Description of a man who deserted from the 29th Regt. at Chatham, on 23rd instant, stealing a £ 5 Bank of Euglaud Note, £ 9 it. Gold, and a suit of black cloth Clothes : 26 yrs. of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, very light moustache, rather thin face, long nose, and awkward feet ; dressed in the stolen clothes. He is a native of Haverhill, Essex. He will probably be found near Tottenham, Middlesex. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent coppinger, Kent Constabulary, Chatham.— Bmo- etreet, April 27. Absconded from Burslem on 18th inst, charged on a war- rant with stealing engine brasses: JOSEPH COTTERILL, 37 years of age, & feet 6- inehes high, brown hair, blue eyes, fresh complexion, lost the end of the 3fd fiogerof right hand, cut marks above left eyebrow and on left shoulder blade. He is a miner. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Kelly, Police Office, Burslem, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 27. Absconded on 7th instant, from Winsford near Dulver- ton, Somerset, charged with embezzling various sums of Money ; the property of Mr. William Baker, of Winsford : JOE HOWE, a shoe maker, about 30 vears of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark brown hair and whiskers, small moustache, dark complexion, long neck, walks erect, aud has a peculiar gait, shoit feet and high insteps, and slight build ; dressed in dark blue cloth jacket, dark corduroy trousers, and soft black felt hat. He waslast seen at Bampton, Devon, on 17th inst,, and has worked at his trade at Exeter, Tiverton, Taunton, and Bridgwater. Information to be given to Mr. Superin- tendent ross, Wivelscombe, or to Sergeant Mundy, Somerset Constabulary, Dulverton, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, April 27. Stolen on 18th instant, from the ' Old Bull' hotel, Blackburn : a leather Case, containing sample cutlery, the property of Messrs. William Marples and Sons, of West Hill terrace, Sheffield, The cover of the case h< » s been found, and portion of the cutlery. Description of the unrecovered property, 3 Rolls, one containing 15 butchers Knives, another 24 ivory and self- tip bone butfado Knives, the other 20 black and bone table Knives; 3 Cards, one con- taining 12 sportsman's best Knives, with assorted stag and ivory handles, another 3 or 4 best pen Knives, the other 12 best fine ivory, tortoise- shell, and stag handle pen Knives ; 5 pairs of scissors of different, patterns, 12 common pocket and pen Knives, a card of 12 steel key Rings, French make ; 31st ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing a suit of Clothes ( recovered) : JANE LINDON, alias BAILEY, about 50 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, flesh com- plexion, UJack hair, long features, and mole on left temple ; dressed in a black alpaca dress, black nhawl, black straw bonnet, red and white flowers in border, and elastic- side boots. She was accompanied by a girl, about 8 years of age, pale complexion, dark brown hair and eyes; dressed in a grey waterproof cloak, dark dress, black straw hat, lace- up boots. Description of WILLIAM HENRY CARNOCHAN, late a cashier in the employ of John S. Hopkins, merchant, of 28, Colmore- row, Birmingham, who absconded on 16th nstant, charged on a warrant with embezzling various sums & f money amouating to £ 235 16s.: about 35 yrs. of age, o ft. 4 inches high, fair complexion, thin pale face, no whiskers or moustache, and of good address ; generally wears a plaid ulster coat, and a soft billycock hat. Information to ba given to Major Bond, Chief of Police, Birmingham.— Bm- ureet, April 23. Description of CHARLES EMERY, charged on war- rant with stealing a quantity of Plate, ( found pawned), belonging to his master : he is about 35 yeara of age, about i feet 9 inches high, very thin pale face, light thin whiskers, no ben( 1 or moustache, has very bad teeth; dressed in a dark frock coi. t, black trousers and vest, button boots, and a hard black hat, with the initials ' W. B.' on the inside, and the maker's name ' Naylor, late Woolley, St. James's- street, Brighton '; he is a butler. Information to be given to Chief Constable Crowhurst, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- st., April 20, Absconded from Watford, on 16th instant, embezzling £ 200, belonging to his employer, Mr. H. Kingham, of Wat- ford : HENRY SPICER, 30 years of age ( looks older), about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair, thick bushy wh. skera, brown eyes, fresh complexion, he is a grocer's traveller, has banions on feet, is splay- footed, and slightly round shouldered. Absconded from Eglwysfach, Denbighshire, OWEN JONES, alias O. BRYM GLAS, charged with beastiality ; be is about 65 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, very stout and roughly built, rather short thick neck, high shoulders, large f; rey whiskers round chin, and generally walks slowly with both hands in his trousers pockets ; dressed as a navvy or rough farm labourer. He will most likely seek employ- ment » s a farm labourer or quarryman. He was last seen near Llandudno Junction making his way for Bangor, Carnarvon, or Holyhead by train, and is now likely to be employed either in Carnarvonshire or Anglesea. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Hammonds, Llanrwst, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 25. Absconded on 8th instant, charged on a warrant with felopy : PEMBLE BBOWN, late of 3, Westcombs Park, Blackheath, and late secretary to the Ford Works Company, £ 9, Cannon- street, 40 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complixion, light brown bair, and small whiskers, no beard or moustache. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, London, E. G.— Bow- street, Apiil 23. and a parcel of 6 Corkscrews ; the majority of the articles are marked 5 Marples and SOD, Sheffield.' By ALFRED MlTUHKLL, who absconded on 24th instant, about 37 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, swarthy complexion, thin features, high cheek bones, light brown hair, no whiskers, full light moustache, walks erect, and baa a military appearance ; dressed in a dark cloth coat, far worn, moleskin waistcoat and trousers, laced, boots, and light plaid cap. He is a black- smith or bolt, maker, and a native of WolverbamptoD. A • warrant has been issued for his apprehension. He has rheumatism in right side. He travels about the country, and calls on • ottagers generally, and pretends to them that he is going to receive a large fortune in a week or nine days, aud if he eould get comfortable apartments for that time he would deubly pay for it when he received his fortune.
