Description of FREDERICK aud ANN MIDLAM, husband and wife, absconded, charged on a warrant villi arson, on the estate of Sir Henry Wilmot, Bart. : ho is about I 36 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, slight sandy hair, j sandy whiskers and moustache; dressed usually in grey j jacket, cord trousers, woollen cap, and lace- up boots ; is a j labourer. And Ann Midlam, 37 years of age, 5 f< set 2 inches i high, sallow complexion, long heavy looking face ; a photo of the latter can be had. Well known throughout Derby, j Stafford, and Notts. Between 7 a. m. and 8 pm. on 2nd instant, the dwelling- house of John Bates, at Stewkley, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a lady's gold " lever Watch, flowered dial, No. 77- 139, maker Cousins, Matthews, and Thorp, 10, Bun hill- row, London ; a lady's gold Chain, small round links, gold Pencil- case and Locket attached, containing hair in shape of a plume, enamelled on back ' Iu Memory of ' 5 and two Hams, about 12 lis. each. Between 6 and 8 p. m. on 1st, instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Heals, of Highfield, Heropstead, was entered by some person, and stolen therein : a small round face Clock, in bronze case ; a grey tweed Coat, with side pockets ; and a pair of side- spring Boots, toe- capped, nearly new. Stolen from a printing- office, at Bolton, during the night of 30th ultimo, entrance having been effected by going through an u iper window which had been left loose : three Freemason's Jewels, one of theni ( a Mark Jewel) is in the form of a key stone, made of pearl, and has the letters ' H. T. W. S. S. T. K S.' on one side in a circle ; the second one is of silver and in form of a square with a pendant attached, and known as Past Master's Jewel, and bears this inscription on one side of it—' Presented to Brother Thomas Morris, P. M., by the Members of St. John's Lodge. No. 221, Bolton, & c., & c.' ; and the third is a Silver Jewel, gilt, and belongs to what is known among the brethren, as the Priestly Order ; about 57 Postage Stamps, and a few Post, Cards ; one copy of Whittaker'a Almanack for the year 1877 ; one Sovereign, one Shilling, and Threepence in Copper ; aud one base Half- Crown, and one base Shilliag. £ 1 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the recovery of the property and the conviction of the offender or offenders. Between S p. m, on 8tJ^ ant" Sua, nj& 9t& ieaiani^ the Union Workhouse at Berwick- upon- Tweed, was burglariously entered aud stolen therein : three pairs of woollen Drawers, recovered ; two white cotton Shirts, man's size, with linen fronts and holes at neck and breast for studs ; and a plain cotton Shirt. By JAMES CARROLL, alias JAMIE DONEGAL, labourer, native of county Donegal, Ireland, but has resided about the South of Scotland, and North of England for many year3 : he is about 53 years of age, but looks younger, 5 feet Hi inches high, stoutly made, auburn, hair, ginger wliiskers, generally ishaved on upper lip; dressed in da> k clothes, old and ragged, one of the stolen shirts, and odd bocta, one being a navvy boot, the other a common lacing boot ; he has been in the Union Woikhouae Hospital, Berwick- on- Tweed, several times, with sores on his legs, and the attention of the Police is directed to Poorhouses, Work- houses, or Hospitals, where he will try to get admission ; ha is a returned convict, and has been convicted of larceny in. B.;' a silver Punch Ladle, marked ' G.;' twelve silver Forks ; ten silver Spoons, four Vegetable, two Gravy, two Mustard, two Salt; and an old- fashioned gold Cham. Durimg the night of 23rd inst., the booking office and store room at Purfleet Railway Station were broken into, and eight boys' blue serge Slops, lined inside cuffs with a narrow stripe of yellow striped cloth or braid, stolen therefrom. A man, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slender build, pockmarked, full eyes, brown hair and moustache ; dressed ia blue pilot jicket, moleskin trousers and vest, red and white muffler, the red part representing figures of horses, light Jace- up boots, the right one baviug a patch on the inner side ; he has the appearance of a fitter, aiid asks for employ- ment as a labourer. Stolen from a dwelling- house, at Bolton, on the after- noon of 2nd instant: £ 9 6s. in Gold and Silver ; one black pilot cloth shooting Coat, single breasted, and black velvet collar, nearly new; one black cloth double breasted Vest, also nearly new ; one pair of men's low- down Shoes, patched on each side, and far worn. By a horse- keeper or gioom who lodged at the house and said he had been a cab driver in Scarborough, to which place he belonged. He is about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, light complexion, long thin features, slender make, lighthur cut short, andlias a wart on bis ri » ht eyelid; dressed in the stolen co t. -, vest, and shoes, moleskin trousers, and dark cloth cap, which ties across the front. Absconded from Middlesbrough, chsrged with larceny : a labourer or ho! der- up in shipyards, belongs to Sfcockton- on Tees, about 19 years of age, 5 feet S inches high, pale com- plexion, dark hair, slender figure, long neck, and has a scar oa back of one leg ; dressed iu moleskin trousers, dark Corded coat and vest, elastic side boots, and billycock hat. He was committed for trial from Stockton about 2 years ago, and sentenced to 12 months hard labour, on a charge of forgery. Absconded, charged with stealing a Purse, containing about £ 5 18^., at 9 a. m. on 29ih ultimo, from the house of Savage Jones, Mount- street, Flint: a Loan, abnut 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and moustache, high forehead, hair short, on top of forehead ; stated he had been employed at Homer House, Great Homer- street, Liverpool, and was a good window dresser. Stolen on the evening of 29th ultimo, from a painter's shop at Wantage, Berks : a painter's sable Hair Pencil, handle about 7 " inches long, nearly new. By a tramping painter, about 45 years of age, 5 fees 2 or 3 inches high, full sandy- coloured beard and moustache ; dressed in. a dp. rk tweed suit, low hard black hat, violet- coloured woollen scarf, and drab shirt; has a small flag basket, which is stained and varnished. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent O'Neill, Wantage, Berks.— Bow street, April 3, Description of WILLIAM GOODWIN BRAY, who absconded from Devoran, Feock, Cornwall, on £ 6th February last, charged on a warrant with embezzling the sum of £ 157 12s., the monies of the trustees of the Loyal Robartes Lodge of Odd Fellows : he is 47 years of age, 5 teet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, turning grey, and dark eyes, a shoemaker ; dressed in a grey mixed suit of clothes, hard round felt hat; has in his possession a silver Watch, • with gold albert Chain, the following inscription is on the • watch, J ' Presented to W. G. Bray, by the Officers and Bretheren of the Loyal Robartes Lodge.' Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Marshall, Cornwall Constabu- lary, Truro.— Bow- ttreet, April 3. Description of EDWIN REVELL, a tramping barber, • who is charged on a warrant with stealing a silver Watch and steel Guard, recovered, at Brampton, on 27th ultimo, the property of Francis Woodward : he is an American, and speaks the Yankee dialect, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, brown hair, rather thin in front, thick brown moustache and beard, full round face, florid complexion, scar on forehead, and on back of one hand, figure of a ship tattooed on one arm ; dressed in a blue pilot great coat, no under coat, dark checked trousers and vest, red woollen shirt with black flower, black scarf torn at back, and a large yellow pin iu front, shabby laced boots, and black billycock hat. He generally calls at hairdressers shops for relief, and is iu the habit of singing and begging at public and beerhouses. He has tramped all over England, and may be found longing at some low beerhouse or common lodging house. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Carline, County Police Office, Chesterfield, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, April 3, Charged on. a warrant with stealing one pair of Drawers, two Sheets, and one boy's Shirt ( recovered), from Wellington- street, Aldershot, on 16th instant ; the property of Ernest Munday : ELIZABETH BAKER, domestic servant, 15 years of age, dark brown bail', dark hazel eyes, dark com- plexion, round full face, and stout build ; dressed in light browu bonnet, trimmed with daik brown terry velvet, grey waterproof cloak, brown linsey dress, trimmed with black braid, gold ear- drops, oval shape, with small ball at the bottom. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Aldersbot, who holds a • warrant for her apprehension.— Bme- ttrxat, March 29. Stolen on 24th instant, between 8 a. m. and 4 p m., from the house of George Wilson, Sawdon Nabb, Egton : a pair of Blucher Boots, newly soled, heel and toe plates; and a pair of watertight Boots, nearly new, small nails ija bottom and heel and toe plates, man's size. By a man, 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, and slender make; dressed in a grey or drab long top coat, black billycock hat turned up at sides, dark trousers, and old light boots. He was tiaced to the ' Jolly Sailor' Inn, near Moorshoim, where he offered the stolen boots for sale. States he belongs to Ryhope, near Sunderland, but supposed to be a native of Newcastls- upon- Ty ne. Information to be given to Mr. Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, March 29. Description of a man charged with stealing six Sovereigns, from the dwelling- house o£ Mr- James Powell, of Hagley, on 26th instant : he is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, small sandy whiskers and mous- tache, and round full face , dressed in brown mixture coat and trousers, imitation sealskin vest, and black hard hat, walks upright, sometimes carries a biack top coat, with large buttons, and a walking stick ; represents that he is a land measurer.
