PEACE, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 4th instant: jflUO reward will be given by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( other than a person employed in a Police Force in the United Kingdom) who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the said Charles Peace. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Jackson, Central Police Offices, Sheffield, Yorks.— Bono- street, December 15. On the night of 30th ultimo, Mr. John Morrison, head gamekeeper to Francis Monckton, Esq., M. P., was attacked by a gang of five poachers at Crateford, near Brawood, Staffordshire, one of whom fired a gun with intent to murder him. One of the offenders who proves to be WILLIAM HUMPHREYS, alias JOLLY, of Shrewsbury, has been apprehended, identified, and remanded. The following men ( who have absconded) are charged on warrants with the attempt to murder : THOMAS ALLMAN, alias TIMER, native of Shrews- bury, 29 years of age, 5 feet 6J inches high, proportionate build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, slight • whiskers, left hand cut off at wrist, to which he fires or unfixes at pleasure an iron hook, or occasionally an iroa knob, he usually carries the stump in trousers or jacket pocket, out of sight, the hook or kaob ia screwed into a block, whilst a leather case covers his forearm, and is strapped above the elbow under his jacket; dressed either in cloth plaid woollen trousers, or corduroy trousers and waistcoat, washed nearly white, blue cloth- cap, peak of sama material, button on top, may wear a navvy's drab slop, which ties round waist with running tape. Is likely to br in possession of pawntickets for his Watch and Clothes. He has worked at navvy work, horse driving and boating, and is a well known leading poacher in Shropshire, Cheshire, Flint, Herefordshire, Derbyshire, Worcestershire, and Stafford- shire. WILLIAM PRICE, alias ' CHECKER,' native of Trench, near Wellington, Salop, by trade a forgeman, 31 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, medium build, brown hair and eyes, and broken nose ; dressed in new moleskin jacket, old moleskin trousers and vest, dark cloth cap, lace- up boots, and is likely to be with ALLMAN. ( Stafford Police hold copy of his photograph ) JOHN WILLIAMS, alias ' DAVIES,' alias ' WORCES- TER DICK,' alias ' BRUMMY.' labourer and militiaman, supposed native of Worcester, 28 years of age, 5 ft. ius. high, stout build, fresh complexion, light hair, no whiskers, grey eyes, oval visage, supposed cast in one eye, tattooed on right arm with anchor and bracelet, and cut mark on fore- head over right eye. RIGHARD OWEN, alias WOODBINE, alias LITTLE DICK THE NAVVY, supposed to be a native of Salop, wife and infant, with father in law, an ex- railway sub con- tractor, residing at Derby, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout build, very active, light hair, no whiskers, full face, good features ; supposed dressed in dark jacket, moleskin or dark Bedford cord trousers, buttons at bottom of legs, sometimes wears a sealskin cap, and sometimes a dark cloth cap with cloth peak, strong navvy boots with toe and heel plates. May have the following dogs with them : one is a brown rough haired dog, crossed with sheep and greyhound, 11 months old, answers to ' Charley,' is attached to Allman ; another is a dark brindle greyhound- looking dog, ten months old, answers to ' Lion,' attached to Owen; and another is a black greyhound- looking dog, two years old, answers to ' Snap,' is attached to Williams. £ 100 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of these offenders, or a proportionate sum for such information as shall lead to the arrest and con / iction of either of them, Information to be given at any Police Station in the County of Stafford, or to Chief Constable Congreve, Chief Constable's Office, Stafford. — Bvw- street, December 13. On the 30th ultimo the Dead Body of a female Child, about four days' old, was found amongst, some brick rubbish near the gas house, Redcar, wrapped up in an old dirty white apron, fud of holes. At the Coroner's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person or persons unknown,' was returned. Information to be given to Sergeant Alexander, Redcar, or to Superintendent Prest, North Riding Consta- bulary Office, Guisborough.— How- street, December 11. Absconded from Hardington, charged with the murder of Police Constable Cox, on the night of the 16th instant, at Netherton, Somerset: GEORGE HUTCHINGS, about 55 years, of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, turning grey, sallow com- plexion. and thin face. GILES HUTCHINGS, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, sallow complexion, thin face, and downcast look. And PETER HUTCHINGS, about 2S years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, rather stout, dark brown hair, sallow com- plexion, and marked with small pox. Giles and Peter, are sons of George, Hutchings, and all are natives of Hardington, near Yeovil. A reward of ,£ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person ( other than a person employed in a Police Force in the United Kingdom) who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the conviction of the murderer or murderers, and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice not being the person who actually committed the murder, as shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. And a further reward of £ 30 is offered by the Chief Constable for Somersetshire to any person ( including Police Officers) who may become entitled to it under the conditions of his notice. It is sup- posed that the accused persons will endeavour to escape from their hiding place in some gipsies' van. Information to be given to Superintendent Smith, Yeovil, Somerset, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Boas- street, December 8. Description of JOHN PARKER, alias COCKNEY JACK, late of Darlington, charged on a warrant with breaking and entering the dwelling- house of George Lowes, at Hindon, on the 28th September last, and stealing therein: a shooting Coat and Vest, blue ribbed cloth ; a pair of light grey cloth Trousers, with a black stripe down the side of each leg; and a pair of black cloth ditto, the black cloth trousers have been recovered : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet. 5 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, proportionately made, has rather round shoulders, and speaks the South country dialect ; gathers rags, and carries a basket covered with a piece of brown oil- cloth ; he also hawks steel pens, tapes, & c., and ha3 a pedlar's certificate, granted at Darlington, on the 4th May last. Frequents common lodging- houses, and naay be accompanied by his wife and a little girl about 2 years of age, and an infant about 1 mouth old. Description of EDWARD EVANS, charged with stealing from a field near Aykley Heads, on the 23rd ultimo, a Horse ( iinc recovered): he is 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, very dark hair, cut short, thin face, scar above one eye, and slender build, a native of Cornwall; dressed in light snuff- coloured coat, bound with black braid, dark grey trousers, black vest, elastic- side boots, and light grey cloth bowler hat; he has been previously convicted of horse stealing, ard may be found lying bout coke ovens; he has been accustomed to working " in stone and slate quarries. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Seacombe, on the 10th instant, by means of housebreaking : £ 12 in Gold. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Birkenhead, or Inspector Hindley, Sessions House, Egremont, Cheshire.— Sow- street, December 15. Further information respecting the robbery by house- i breaking at the residence of Rev. Robert Gradwell and Catholic Chapel, Claughton, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th ultimo : also stolen, a silver lever Watch, maker Roskell and Co, Liverpool, has the name ' Rev. Robert Gradwell, engraved on brass plate covering the works; an old- fashioned silver verge Watch, loose cases, No. 3786, maker Roskell and Co, Liverpool. The brass Plate and! I silver Pyx have been recovered, but from tbe pyx has been; ! taken the inside glass and round box, and from the brass i plate has been taken the centre piece, representing a lamb in enamel work on a blue ground, round, 5 inches in diameter, I and twenty jewels, four were ruby, red, about |- iri. diameter, six more were red, and a size smaller, the remainiugten were clear crystals of a small size, some coloured red, and lest clear, ! transparencies and merely glass. Between 6" 30 and 10 p. m. on the 9th instant, the! dwelling- house of William Fairfield, High Town, Hednesford, | was entered by raising the window sash, and £ 1% 10s. in ; Gold stolen therein. Stolen by means of housebreaking about 6 p. m., on the 8th instant, from the dwelling house of Charles Smith, Railway Swan Inn, Bedford : A silver Geneva Watch, maker ' Webb, Oxford- street,' A small silver Chain. A gold albert Chain. A gold Locket, a horseshoe chased on back. A small gold Pencil Case. A silver Bmoch, imiration of two fern leaves. A gold pin, a fox's tooth with a gold bind across. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Richard Bingham, at Marton, on 21st October last: a pair of silver- plated Nut Crackers ( recovered), a pair of lady's brown kid Gloves, a pair of plain linen Cuffs, and a black leather Purse, with violet elastic band. By ROSE BLYTON, a servant, 16 years of age, looks older, about 5 feet high, black hair, dark eyes, very full broasts ; dressed in black corded alpaca dress, or an holland one, trimmed with brown braid, brown straw hat, turned up one side, trimmed with brown gauze and a white buckle, and black cloth jacket. She left Lincoln on or about the 23rd October, and took a ticket for Manchester to visit her sister who was there living with Mr. Westwell, at Westwell atreet, Great Harwood, Accrington. Her sister has left that place, and they are supposed to have gone to London. Information to be given to Superintendent Sowden, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, who holds the warrant for her apprehension,— Bow- street, December 13. Absconded, embezzling J10 from 152, Tottenham- court- road, St. Pancras : WILLIAM HOLLOWAY, a porter, 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes ; dress, light grey suit, and low black hat, Also on the 2nd instant, embezzling £ 22 from the above address : JOHN WEBB, a porter, 19 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair ; dress, black coat, dark trousers, and low black hat. Warrants issued.— Metropolitan Police, E Division.— Bow- street, December 13. Charged with larceny at Sacriston, on 9th ultimo, and for whose apprehension a warrant has been issued : JOHN LIDDELL, a miner, late of Sacriston, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7| inches high, fresh complexion, high cheek bones, blue eyes, light hair, slight moustache, no whiskers, stout figure ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, woollen cord trousers, brown cloth cap with tassel on top and cheesecutter peak, and stiong pit shojs. Description of LAWRENCE RYAN, charged with embezzlement: he is 45 years of age. 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, light whiskers and moustache, brown hair, parted behind ; dressed respectably ; formerly a member of the Metropolitan Police Force. Description of JOHN SEYMOUR, a groom, charged with stealing Weariug Apparel at Drayton Bassett, on the 8th instant -. about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, light brown hsir parted dawn the centre, pale face, no whiskers or moustache, cut mark on upper lip extending under lose, and has an impediment in his speech; dressed in black billycock hat, black reefer jacket, with velvet collar, grey tiousers, and block- fronted boots. Information to be given to Inspector McCrea, Tamworth, who holds a warrant, for his apprehension,— Bow- street, December 13. Absconded from Luton, charged on a warrant with embezzling ,£ 10 18s. 4d. on the 11th instant, from Mr. T. C. Description of WILLIAM OWEN alias OWEN WIL- LIAMS, charged with stealing a small gold Geneva Watch, gold face, and black hands, at Headington, near Oxford, on the 25th ultimo : he' is sCboMs 5 feet 5 inches high, about 27 years of age, dark complexion, d: « " k brown hair, dark mous- tache, and small whiskers; dressed in a dark tweed pea jacket, and Ifght; brown tweed trousters; he travels' the couuty repairing glass, china, and chairs. Information to bs given to Deputy Chief Constable Fernsby, or to Yates, County Police Station, Oxford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, December 13. Absconded from private lodgings, at Ashford, Kent, on the 7th instant, stealing a gold King with plaited grey hair ; a gold Pin, head formed of two rings ; and a white cotton Pocket Handkerchief, marked ' L. J. Fowler,' in ink. A man about 23 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light com- plexion; crooked nose, no whiskers or moustache, and light brown hair; dressed in light- blue cut- away coat, trimmed with black braid, very dark or black trousers, and black deer stalker hat. He gave his address as No. 13, Francis- road, Edgbaston, Warwickshire. He is accurately described, except his height and nose, in Police Gazette of the 1st inst., charged with stealing a silver Watch, at Margate, on the 31st ultimo. Information to be given to Superintendent Noakes Kent Constabulary, Ashford.— Boio- strmt, Dec. 11, Description of a man who attempted to pawn, on the instant, at the shop of Messrs Cole, Bridge- street, Cam- bridge, a superfine black cloth dress Suit, name on buttons of trousers ' Chappell, Peterborough,' which are supposed to have been stolen; upon being questioned, the man ran out of the shop leaving the clothes behind him, and he has not since been heard of : he is from 30 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, clean shaved, red face, and stout build; dressed in a black hard felt hat and blue cloth pilot overcoat; he had the appearance of a seaman, and stated that he wanted money to get to his ship. He left behind him a light grey wrapper Handker- chief with dark stripes. Information to be given to Head Constable Turrall, Borough Police Office, Cambridge.— Bow- street, December 11. Stolen from Bridge Town, Cannock, on the 6th instant: a pair of cloth Trousers, with fly fronts, green and black plaid, a double- breasted Vest, of same material ; and a paisley Muffler, white ground, red centre, and border with figures of ships and steara beats. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, BfaT Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford. — Bmo- itreei, Dercefober 11. ess v- Description of a man who 5s charged with stealing from his J lodgingsg at Llanfihangel, on the 3rd or 4th instant £ 6 10s. in gold : an Irishman, who said he belonged to Wrexham, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, no beard or whiskers : dressed in old light grey jacket, doubfe breaffited moleskin vest, moleskin trousers, with large seam down the sides, and brown billycock hat. He bought at Kington the same day, a blue monkey jacket, trousers and vest of same material, and blacK hat. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Wheeldon, Penybont, Radnorshire.—- Boys- street, December 11. Stolen on the night of the 7th instant, from a cottage at Trunch, Norfolk : two silver Watches, one large pair- cased, the other small, engine- turned, No. 365; an old wedding Ring, an American gold Dollar, 3s. 6d. in Silver, and several old copper Pennies. Supposed by a tramp, from 20 io 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair, very small whiskers, and has good teeth ; dressed in an old dark ( supposed blue) cloth overcoat down to the knees, dark trousers, old boots much too large for him, and dark chummy hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Buntell, Police Station, North Walsham, Norfolk.— Bow- st., Dec. 11. Absconded from Madeley, Salop, on the 8th instant, charged witk scaling from his lodging, an English lever • Watch, nearly new, No. 4032, maker Gaskin, Wellington ; a silver Neckchain, a silk Scarf, and a pair of india- rubber Braces, the property of William Cookson; an old silver verge Watch, No. 1007, the property of John Cookson : RICHARD NORTHALL, alias RICHARD EDGE, a miner, 22 years of age, 5 feet 2J inches high, slender build, fresh complexion, long face, brown hair, blue eyes, anchor oa back of left hand, ' T.' on left forearm, blue mark on right forearm, blue scar inside corner of right eye, and a cut on centre of forehead ; dressed in a hard jimcrow hat, brown cloth overcoat, black cloth trousers, much worn, and elastic side boots : he has also a pair of dark plaid trousers and waistcoat, and a black cloth jacket, nearly new, in his possession. He has bfcen Several time3 convicted of felony in Shropshire and Stafford- shire, was last convicted of felony at Stafford Quarter Sessions, in October, 1875, and sentenced to 1 y ear imprisonment and five years police supervision. The neck chain has been found pledged at Dawley in the name of George Daviss. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Turner, Ironbridge, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Mow- stitiS, Dec, 11 Stolen on 4tii instant, from an engirie- Jious'e situate at Highbridge, Pelsall ; the property of Wm. Poxon, of Pelsall: An old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with small glass in centre of case ; and an old braes curb Cnain and three Keys attached. Supposed by a man about 19 yearS of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 ins. high ; dressed in blue pilot jacket, dark trousers, anil brown hard hat; he ia a miner and a native of Tam worth. Infor- mation to be give ® to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, or to Sergeant Arnold, Rushall, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- svteet, December 8. good address, and a native of Scotland. He left Hull on the 8th October last, and is supposed to have a large sum in gold in his possession, and was in business in Hull as a coal merchant. £ 25 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to his apprehension. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, York- shire.— Bow- sreet, December 15. An Irishman, named WILLIAM McKIVER, alias WILLIAM SIMPSON, alias WILLIAM MAXWELL, is committed' for trial, charged with obtaining Money by false pretences : he represents himself as a canvasser for the ' Pearl Life Assurance Company, 39, City- road, Flhsbury- equarej London.' He is of respectable appearance, 5 ft 7J inches high, pale complexion, grey hair, hazel eyes, he has a moustache, But no whiskers or beatd, and while at Cambridge and Bury St. Edmund's he had a beard on his chin ; he wears a speckled straw hat, and was recently canvassing at Ipswich, Bury, and Cambridge: he had in his posssssion two pawntickets, one for a Bible, pledged at Fraser's, Ipswich, 3rd October, 1876, in the name of JOHN SMITH, for 20s., and the other for a Bible, pledged at Lot's, Ipswich, Oct. 9, 1876, for 15s., in the name of W. Absconded cfiargeS on a warrant with fraudulent bankruptcy : JAMES DAWSON, alias McBEATH, alias McGRATH, sJaout 58 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy h?> turning grey, florid complexion, stent build of Mm& msa& Mmm iim& smm& mmw. Description of three men charged with violently assaulting Police Constable Chandler, on the night of the 10th instant, at Coleford : GEORGE PADFIELD, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, clean face ; dressed in dark clothes, and bowler hat. JOHN COLES, 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion; dressed in dark clothes^ and black cap. He was sentenced to seven years penal servitude for larceny in Lincoln, on 10th March, 1870, and was discharged from Borstal Prison on 6th September last.
