WOUMBIMO, Early on the morning of the 9th instant, the dead body of a newly- born female Infant was found on the side of the highway leading from Stroud Green to Greenham Mills, close to the bridge over the Great Western Railway. The body was warm, and had a piece of tape tied tightly round the neck, and was wrapped in a copy of the ' Standard' news- paper of the 29th ultimo. A verdict of ' Wilful Murder by some person or persons unknown,' has been returned by the Coroner's Jury. £ a0 reward will be paid by the Govern- ment to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murder or murderers of the child ; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the actual murderer, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. During the night of the 19fch instant, the dwtlllDg- house of William Bingham, of Moorgate, rotherham, was entered through the schoolroom window and stolen therein : a black corded summer loose Coat, with two pockets at the sides, one breast pocket, and buttons with one button at the breast; a old grey Topcoat, torn at the bottom of right side, with one outside pocket on the right, and in left breast; a piece of diaper table Cloth, one corner being torn off and left behind ; and some Ham and Bread, information to be given to Superintendent Giilett, West riding Constabulary, Court House, rotherham, Yorkshire..— Bow sireat, October 23. Between 11 p m. 19th and 5 a. m. on the 20th instant, the dwelling- house of John Bushby, of Lower1 Bebington, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a silver lever Watch, open- face, plain case, slight dinge on back, No. 7892, maker Garvey, of Liverpool; a common blue witney cloth Overcoat, black velvet collar, stitched edges, red plaid lining; and a pair of half Wellington Boots, a little worn on outside of heels, right boot unstitched outside. Also a beerhouse kept by Ann Deighton, at. Lower Bebington, was entered between 12 midnight 19 th and 5 a. m. on the 20th instant, and about 15s. in Copper, 3s. in Silver, and about twelve Cigars, stolen therein. Magrath,; London, No. 2748, with a silvor snake- pattern Chain attached. 1 gold Mourning Ring, engraved inside ' David Willis j Gent' and date o* death. 1 silver Fish Knife, 12 inches long, and Fork 9 inches long. 2 large silver Butter Boats, with crest— a boar's head. 1 gold. Charged with stealing a brown Mare, recovered, from Daventry, on the night of the 20th ultimo ; A man known !> s GINGER JARVIS, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark sandy hair, cut short; dressed in a brown mixture suit. Supposed a native of Norwich. And a man known as LONG FRED, i3 about 35 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair, cut shoit, slight moustache, and small imperial, fresh complexion, walks erect, and is very active; dressed in dark clothes, supposed to be well known around the suburbs of London. They were travelling with a woman, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, very fresh complexion, dark hair, stoutly built, and fine looking, was wearing a black aud red plaid, shawl, they were travelling with a high strong spring cart, and represented themselves to be hawking cheese. Stolen from the person of a gentleman, at Langho Rail- way Station, on the 19th instant : a gentleman's gold Watch, large size, white dial, No. 6747, makers J. T. and J. Olivent, Manchester, the property of Mr. Watson, of Blackburn. Information to be given to Superintendent Read, County Police Office, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, October 23. Stolen from the person of SARAH KENDLE, about 2 p. m. on the 18th instant, near the railway station at Deeping St. James : a brown leather Purse, with, elastic band, containing one Shilling and nice Pence. By a tramp, of middle age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, and black whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a black billycock hat, old black coat and trousers, and old boots cut in front. Information to be given to Superintendent Pidgeon, County Police, Bourn, Lincolnshire.— Sow- street, October 20. Stolen on the 18th instant, from the person of Thomas Jellings, on Coventry race- course : a German silver Geneva Watch, white dial, steel hands, glass cracked, name inside ' T. Jellings.' Stolen from the person at Newmarket during the race meeting: On the 9th instant, a gold Watch with ' E. G.' eDgraved on the back ; a gold Watch, English lever, f- plate, piece chipped off the face and case indented. On the 10th instant, a large gold Jever Watch with gold * a° And on the 12th instant,' a silver Watch, maker ' Bold, Liverpool,' capped and jewelled, and has ' Geo. Robinson' engraved inside. Stolen by means of house- breaking between 6 am. and 6 p m. on the 14th instant, from the cottage of John Powers, of Allesley- near Coventry : a black cloth Jacket, pockets oa Description of a man named JOHN REED, charged with, another man, in custody, who gives the name of FRANCIS BALLADINE, with stealing a grey Cob, Harness, and Cart, which he obtained from Mr. William Goulding, livery stable keeper, South- street, Walworth, on the 18th instant, and disposed of in Romford Market the same day, and which have since been recovered: Beed is about 26 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair and moustache, no whiskers, fresh complexion, scar on cheek, supposed the left, and rather weak eyes; dressed in dark frock coat and vest, light trousers, fancy boots, and high silk hat; he is a brush hawker, and had a pedlar's certificate, granted for the city and county of Bristol, on 21st Jan., last, and indorsed for the following places : borough of Birming- ham, 7th April; Gloucestershire, 8th March; city of Worcester, 17th March; county of Warwick, 26ih April; borough of Leamington, 26; h April; borough of Wolver- hampton, 1st May ; borough of Derby, 8th May; Chester. 10th May; county of Lancaster, ] 8th May; borough of [ Bolton, 24th May ; atd Dublin Metropolitan Police, ! The Horses tt ilen from a field at Wanstead Park, Essex, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 20ih ult., have been recovered, and the undermentioned men are charged with st< aling them : ' JONEY alias BIG JOE, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches j lii. ab, dark biown hair, cut short, slight moustache and impe- rial, dark eyes, stout build, and walks very erect ; dressed in : long brown coat and vest, dark trousers, cork hat covered l with alpaca. Aud GINGER JARVIS, 35 years of age, 6 feet high, fair complexion, freckled face, short red hair, ginger whiskers, j and slouching gait; dressed in dark brown coat and vest, i Bedford cord trousers, lace boots, and felt hat. i Both are horse copers, and are charged with other offences. A warrant has be#- n issued for their apprehension.— Metropo- litan Felice, N Division, October 25. Stolen on the r. ight of the 21st instant, from a field at Shepton Mallet : a brown i. ag Horse, 5 years old, and about 15 hands high. Description of a man calling himself PETER ARCHER, ! from Edinborough, cattle and horse dealer, who on the 6th instant, at Lenton, Nottingham, obtained a Mate by means j of a cheque on the National Cooperative Bank, Edinborough, , which has long since stopped payment: about 60 years of | age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, grey hair aud whiskers, rather , stout and respectable locking; dressed in a brown coat and : vest, dark trousers, high hat, and a black broad scarf with gold pin. The Mare was aged, about 15 hands 2 Inches high, j strongly made, bright black colour, a quantity of hair on the I legs, long tail, in good condition, and the off hind leg was i rather s woollen. information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Palethorpe, County Police Station, Nottingham who holds a warrant for the apprehension of the above man. — Bwo- ttreet, October 23. By a tramping clock cleaner, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slender build, grey hair and whiskers; dressed in black coat, grey trousers, brown billycock hat, old side- spring boots, and wilL be wearing tbe stolen shirt. Has been in custody at Eastbourne for felony, and is supposed to be known at Portsmouth and Brighton. Charged on a warrant with embezzling several sums of money received by him for his master : FRANK BLACK- HALL, a butcher, a native of Wmchelsea, Sussex, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches higb, rather dark complexion, no whiskers, rather bow- legged ; dressed in butcher's blue frock, dark trousers, and black billycock hat. Will apply for employment as a journeyman butcher, or may try to get a berth as butcher on board a ship. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, Sussex.— Bow- street, October 27. Stolen from the dwelling- house of George Hill, High Ercall, Salop, between the 4 and 5 a. m., on the 24th instaut: a pair of men's plain leather lace- up Boats, brass eyelet holes, have been soled, and about half worn out, one r& w of sparables round the fore parts, iron plates on the heels, holes cut in the tongue to put the lace through to keep them up ; also 1J lb. of raw Pork; half a 41b. Loaf. Supposed by a tramping carpenter, about 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches higb, very thin, and walks erect, a pair of lace- up clogs were left behind. Description of a young woman, charged with stealing a Box from the Railway Station, on the 23rd instant -. she is about 21 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inehes higb, short figure, and full fresh round face; dressed in a black stuff dress, black and white shawl, and black straw hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.— Bow- itreet, October 27. Charged with stealing a Coat ( recovered), on 13th ult., from Clavering, Essex : AMBROSE DRAPER, 35 years of age, 5 feet 85 inches high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on right knee, forefinger of left hand broken, thick lips, and slightly pockmarked ; dressed in dark tweed trousers mended at the knees, dark brown coat, and dark cap ; he is a gipsy, and frequents low lodging- houses and beerhouses, and is fond of fiddling. He is well known in the counties of Bedford, Cambridge, Essex, and Middlesex, and has been convicted for horse stealing. Information to be given to Inspector Oliver, Buntingford, Herts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- itreet, October 27. Siolen from the platform of the Market Harborough Railway Station, on the 7th instant: a blue rough Great- coat, also a brown paper Parcel, tied with cord, containing twenty- four lady's rough brown straw Hats, Gainsborough shape, the parcel had an old address upon it, viz, ' Mrs. Smith, Milliner, Coventry.' Missing, believed stolen from a coach house at Market Har- borough, during the night of the 20th instant: a brown carpet Bag, containing two Shirts, one calico, the other red and black plaid; two under Shirts, one white, the other blue ; a blue silk Neckerchief, with white spots; a white cotton Handkerchief, marked ' S. G. C.' in ink. Information to be given to Superintendent Holloway, Con- stabulary Station, Market Harborough, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, October 25. Absconded on the 21st instant, stealing 11 pairs of hob- nailed Boots from 5, Queen's- terrace, York- road, Battersea : a bootman and finisher, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, light complexion, hair and moustache, and small eyes ; dressed in blue jacket, pepper- and- salt trousers, and billy- cock hat. He is likely to seek work at Leeds, Northampton, or Wellingboro'.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, Oct. 25. Stolen on the 21st instant, from lodging at Radford, near Coventry : a tool used in the watch trade colled a Man- drill, recovered, and a mackintosh Coat; the property of Walter Sheppard. By a young man, a watchmaker, 20 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, dark hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, and a watt on right cheek ; dressed in black and white plaid coat, dark vest, and blue twill trousers, much worn. He is supposed to be a deserter from the army. Information to be given to Acting Super- intendent Frankton, Longford, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, October 25. Absconded on the 30th ultimo, from Broughton, Hants, charged with larceny as a bailee : JOHN BARKER, a watch- maker, 37 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout built, dark hair, whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a soft billycock hat, dark monkey jacket, cord breeches, and brown leather leggings. Information to be given to Superintendent Kellaway, Hants Constabulary, Romsey, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 23. Description of CHARLES TURNER, late goods clerk on the London. Tilbury, and Southend Railway, who absconded from Grays, Essex, on the 7th instant, charged with embezzling several sums of money of his employers : he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, light hair, long light whiskers, pale complexion, sharp features, and large nose ; dressed in long dark frock coat, dark grey vest and trousers, grey shirt, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Dobson, Brentwood, or to Inspector Freeman, Orsett, Essex, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, October 23. JOHN HENRY ALLORD, alias GIPSY JACK, alias JOHN ALLEN, a native of Kempston, or Kenston, Suffolk, charged with fowl stealing at Whaplode Marsh on 17th August last, is now apprehended. He is committed for trial at the quarter sessions at Spalding on the 19th instant. Information to be given to Inspector Taylor, Spalding, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, October 23. Further information respecting the robbery of Wearing Apparel at Hailsham, advertised in the Police. Gazette of the 29th ultimo : the man therein mentioned is an Irishman, known as HARRY or MICKEY. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes, or to Superintendent Waghorn, Hailsham, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 23. Absconded from Middlesborough, charged with stealing 10a. on the 21st instant,; a man, from 25 to 30 years of age, 6 feeo 9 or 10 inches high, rather stout build, fresh com- plexion, and very little whiskers dressed in a grey suit and black billycock hat. Absconded, charged on a warrant witembezzlement JAMES POWEL, about 29 years of age , 5 feet 5 ir 6 inches high, light complexion, full round face, left leg amputated above the knee and walks with a stick and crutch, and takes large quantities of opium. Informat ion to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldhamj, Lancashire.— Bow- st., October 20. Description of a tramping drover, who is charged with stealing at Panton, on the 17th. instant : a light twill Jacket, lined with check, and greasy on the right sleeve; a pair of Shears, with ' Clipaway' on one blade, and the figure of a man clipping a sheep On the other ; one blue and white silk Pocket Handkerchief ; and about 3| lbs. of black Horse Hair; the property of Thomas Owen. He is about 20 or 22 years of age, & bo « t 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, slight build, and no whiskers or moustache dressed in dark clothes, double- breasted vest, red and white woollen scarf, black cap with button on top, and lace- up boots with brass eyelet holes. Information to be given to Super- intendent Henson, Market Bason, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, October 20. Description of a man charged with stealing a bundle of Wearing Apprrel, recovered ( iu company with a man who is in custody) from a cart at an inn yard in the borough of Cambridge, on the 14th instant: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, pale complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, and has lost some of his front teeth; dressed in black coat and vest, dark plaid trousers, black felt hat, carried a walking stick, and is of shabby genteel appearance, He formerly lived at Grantchester and Stapleford, and carried on the business of a horse dealer, but lately has attended fairs and races, touting and begging. He talked of going to Hunstanton, and said he should stay at Lynn on his way there. Information to be given to Head Constable Turrall, Borough Poliee Office, Cambridge.^— Bow- street, October 18. Absconded on the 6th instant, from Winsley- street, Oxford- street, embezzling £ 10 : a man, 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, darK ; dressed in a dark suit, and of respectable appearance ; he was last heard of at the Bell Hotel, Bury St. Edmund's.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, October 18. He was convicted at Spalding Quarter Sessions on 2nd January, 1873, and sentenced to 12 months imprison- ment, and 7 years police supervision. He is well known in the neighbourhood of Spalding, Information to be given to- the Chief Constable, County Police Station, Lincoln, or to Superintendent Truelove, Horneastle, Lincolnshire.— Bow- ttreet, October 27. Description of ROBERT BALDOCK, a convict on license No. W. 847, who left the district on the 2ud ultimo, without reporting. He was convicted at Lincoln Assizes, 10th March, 1870, and sentenced to 8 years penal servitude for burglary, after previous convictions for felony, and was discharged from Brixton Prison on the 7th July, 1876 : he is 42 years of age, 5 feet 6| inches high, stiff build, and swarthy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on left side of fore- head. He is a labourer, and is well known round Spilsby, Alford, and Boston. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, County Police Station, Lincoln, or to Super- intendent Truelove, Police Office, Horncaatle, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, October 27. MARY ANN GORDON, alias MORGAN, discharged from Lancaster Castle on the 4th instant, and is under police supervision for three years, has failed to report herself : she is 34 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, sallow complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, stout, and has been convicted at Bolton. THOMAS COOK, who is subject to police supervision, has failed to report himself when leaving Oure and Derwent Division on the 17th instant: he is 39 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, oval face, blue eyes, light brown hair, brown whiskers, and fresh complexion. He is a labourer and belongs to Asselby, near Howden. in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Information to be given to Inspector Gibson, Escrick, York.— Bow- street, October 25. Description of LUKE OLDFIELD, No. W 764, licence holder, who has failed to report himself: he was convicted at Durham Assizes, 10th December, 1870, and sentenced to 7 years penal servitude, and 3 years police supervision, and was discharged from Dartmoor Prison, on the 22ud May, 1876: he is 31 years of age, 5 feet 7f inches high, sallow complexion, dark grey eyes, dark brown nail-, a labourer,. last resided at Swinton, near Rotherham, can read and write, scar left of forehead, left arm, right wrist, light hip, and several on spine, right elbow dislocated, and lost several teeth. Description of JOHN SARGOOD, who is subject to police supervision for 3 years, who has left his residence at Havant, without reporting to the police : he is 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, black hair, and stout built. He was discharged from Petworth Gaol on the 20th April last. Information to be given to Superintendent Littlefield, Hants Constabulary, Fareham.— Bow- street, October 23. Description of GEORGE BROWN, discharged from the Hants County Prison on the 18th instant, subject to police supervision for two years, who has failed to report himself to the police at Alton ; 39 years of age, 5 ft. 9 ins. high, fair complexion, brown hair, liazel eyes, round face, pockpitted, scar over left eye, ' D' on left side, four moles on left arm, and of slender build. He is a native of Reading, and a tailor. Information to be given to Superintendent Cheyney, Hants Constabulary Station, Alton.— Bow- street* October 23. Further information respecting WILLIAM HEATH, of Outwood, in Stanley- cum- Wrenthoipe, under police super- vision, who failed to report himself, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 17th February, 1875 ; he was sentenced on the 17th instant, at Wakefield Sessions, in the name of HENRY GOODAIRE, to 7 years penal servitude, and 3 years police supervision, for stealing a Cow, at Knares- borough, on the 16th August last.
