Further information respecting the housebreaking at Stainton Vale, near Stockton- on- Tees, on the 16th instant, as advertised in the Police Gazette on the 23rd ultimo : the plaid Coat and check Trousers aud Vest, have be.- n recovered at Stockton, and the blue rap Dress at Newcastle, and were pledged by a man of the following description : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, very sallow complexion, slightly pockmarked, very thin face, brown hair and whiskers, slender make, and speaks with a Scotch accent; dressed in dark coat, trousers and cap, very dirty, red aud black ( new) woollen scarf, light grey Shetland socks, and wearing the stolen Shirt and Boots. Stated that his wife was residing in Glasgow. Information to be given to Super- intendent Simpson, Constabulary Office, South Stockton- on- Tees, Durham.— Bow- street, Augast 30. Stolen by means of house- breaking, from the dwelling- house of Joseph Scott, at Linwood, on the 16th instant : a pair of grey cloth Trousers, with k narrow black stripe, lined with whito calico, black iron buttons, fall front, and bound with red braid over the watch pocket ; a new black leather Purse, lined with washleather, partition inside, aud brass clasp, Is. 9d. Silver ; a Penknife, with white haft., two blades at one end ; about lb. of cooked Bacon ; and about 2 lbs. of Bread. Supposed by two men of the following description: one is a slater, 44 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, and little dark whiskers round the face ; dressed in dark clothes and soft billycock hat; carries a bag with sla'er's tools iu it ; the other is a labourer, 47 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, and saudy hair; dressed in a dark shirt and vest, yellow trousers, a. nd cap, and no coat. During the night of the 25th inBtant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Milnar, of Elton, Rectory, near Stockton- on- Tees, was burglariously entered, and stolen therein : a lady's black waterproof Cloak, with cape and sleeves, nearly new, has been torn on one shoulder, and mended; a lady's grey Stolen from the person at Stowmarket, on the 24th instant : a £ 10 Bank of England Note, ' J— 46, 27762, 20th December, 1875 ; aud a £ 10 and a £ 5 Notes, of Messrs, Gurney & Co, Stowmarket Bank. The gold lever Watch, advertised in the Police Gazette of 14th instant, as stolen from the person of Charles Edward Hodgkins, is numbered 28485. Stolen during the night of the 22nd instant, from Rydon- creseut, Clerkenwell : two bay Mares, one near fore foot, one hiud leg, aud spot ou face white ; the other black legs, and spotted on back ; a coachman's blue cloth livery ' J. L' on buttons ; and a pair of brown horse Clothes, trimmed with red braid.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, August 28. Stolen on the 22rjd instant, from a field at Walen- lane, Cricklewood : a dark brown cart Horse, 16 hands high, long mane, and tail, star on forehead, patch on near hind fetlock, white sad- lie mark, and in good condition.— Metro- politan Police, X Division,, August 28. mosmzi AIB OA'xm sisamm; ALFRED RUNNACLES, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 28th July last, charged with stealing two Ewes and a Lamb at Little Shelford, has been committed for trial. Description of a man charged with stealing a Horse ( since recovered) from King's Heath, on the 19th instant: 52 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, small sharp features, tuft of grey whiskers on chin, and lost most d front teeth ; dressed in dark brown cloth jacket, side pockets, dark vest, corduroy tight- fitting trousers, plastic- side boots, and light alpaca hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Humphries, King's Heath, Birmingham.— Bow- street, August 30 Stolen on the 2 4th instant, from Kingston Market place : a strawberry colour, roan Pony, 11 hands high, aged, overshod joint on off fore foot. Supposed by a lad, 16 or 17 years of age, 5 feet high, fair complexion ; dressed in dark clothes, and billycock hat.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, August 30. Stolen from a field at Oldbury, on' the night of the 24th instant : a chestnut Mare, years old, 15 hands high, white star on forehead, and white off hind foot; the property of Mr. B. T. Sadler, who offers a reward of £ 5 for the recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Some gipsies, travelling horse dealers, were in the neighbourhood at the time of the robbery. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemp, Halesowen, near Bir- mingham.— Bow- street, August 30. Absconded from Aston, near Birmingham, charged on a warrant with embezzling various sums of Money belonging t, o Alfred Thomas Emery, a metal roller, his employer : EDWARD GILLOTT, a clerk, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, dark; whiskers and moustache, chin Clean shaved, very stout, and of gentlemanly appearance ; supposed to be a native of Charlbury, iu Oxfordshire, and has relatives residing at Evesham and Swindon, Wilts. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Police Office, Aston, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow street, September 1. , Stolen from a dwelling- house at Wyham, on the 22nd ultimo, the property of John Gladdon : a brown cloth Over- coat, with black velvet collar, lined with brown alpaca, a breast pocket outside, and a pocket on each side without flaps, and slightly worn round the cuffs ; a black ribbed cloth Coat and Vest, with black velvet collar ; two pairs of black cloth Trousers, all nearly new ; and a black satin Vest, with black jean sleeves, much worn. Supposed by two harvest; men, who had the appearance of navvies : one about 5 feet 9 inches high, very red face, and short hair. The other is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, and of dirty appearance ; both dressed in drab slops, witb large collars, and fustian trousers ; the tall man wore a grey cap, with check baud round it, and carried a bundle in a drab slop. A scythe was left near the house, wrapped iu a piece of old sacking. Information to be given t « Superintendent Thorsby, Louth, Lincolashire.— Bow- street, September 1. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of Miss Martha Cotterill, Holyhead- road, Handswortn, between 9 and 10 am. on the 31st ultimo : a youth's black cloth ribbed suit of Clothes, the jacket single- breasted, witk two pockets outside, and covered buttons, and left open a little up the sides, the trousers are fly fronts, with black metal buttons, with ' E. A. Butler, High- street,' round outside, aud have been darned inside legs at bottoms ; a pair of lady's kid leather Boots, square toes, No. 5 size, the elastic is worn ; a ladie3 violet corded silk Dress, trimmed with black and white military braid, lined with white calico, three small moth holes just below the pocket, much worn ; two jet Brooches, small size ; a gold plated Brooch, with stones in ; a small square Needle- case, with red top; and a few old foreign Coins. Supposed by three tramps, who were afterwards seen going in the direction of Wolverhampton, carrying a white bundle, shabbily dressed in old dark clothes, and billycock hats; one of them walked lame, and had a hump on his back, all middle aged, Information to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, Birmingham. — Bow - street, September 1. Absconded from Ipswich on the 10th ultimo, charged with stealing a woman's plaid Shawl ( since recovered) : EDWARD ROLLSON, a labourer, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 6- J; inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, lost sight of right eye, ruddy complexion, scar on right breast and on. right cheek, blue dot back of right hand and two ditto back of left hand. Will probably seek employment with brick- layers. Information to be given to Head Constable Mason, Police Office, Town Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk, who holds a war- rant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 1. Description of WILLIAM HUTCHINSON, coachman or cab driver, charged under warrant with stealing a Saddle ( recovered) : he is about 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light brown hair, slight whiskers, and round face ; sup- posed dressed in light mixture cloth jacket and trousers, tight, black billycock hat, and lace- up boots. He is known at Manchester, Preston, Wigan, Birmingham, and Harrogate. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 1. Description of GEORGE THOMPSON, who absconded cn the 28th ultimo, charged with embezzling the sum of J300, the monies of his employers, Messrs. La Coste and Strikeman, Bankers, Chertsey : he was a clerk, is from 37 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark brown hair ( turning slightly grey), moustache, and whiskers, shaves on chin; dresses ( usually) in black cloth frock coat, grey vest and trousers, high black hat. Has relatives residing at Bow. By a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, of soldier- like bearing, and a tuft of whiskers on chin ; dressed in blue monkey jacket, and when last seen was wearing the stolen black cloth vest, drab striped trousers, and felt hat, aud carrying a small bundle; traced towards Birmingham. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Tyler, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire. — Bow- street, September 1. Description of ELIZA JANE REED, who is suspected with having, on the 17th instant, at Weston, neat- Spalding, stolen a £ 10 Note of the firm of Messrs. Garfit Clapoon, Garfit, and Ingoldby, Boston Bank, from the dwelling house of William Eyett, his property : about 25 years of age, 5 feet high, very dark or swarthy complexion, black hair and eyes, stout build ; dressed in black alpaca dress ( tight- fitting, with black bright buttons), black or brown straw bat ( trimmed with blue ribbon and wreath of red rose buds), supposed a light- coloured jacket. She is a dressmaker, and a native of Spalding, Lincolnshire. May be found at Boston, Stamford, or Peterborough. Information to be given to Superintendent Leaper, County Police Station, Spalding, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, August 30. Description of CHARLES NOAH, a hawker and maker of men's aud boys' caps, charged with stealing from a cottage inplitchin, on the night of the 26th instant ; the property of William Hibbett : one pair of black cluth Trousers, and one black willy Hat ( these he may be wearing), one white Shirt, two women's Aprons, a piece of Meat, and 5s. in Money ; 30or40yearsot age. 5 ieet 7 incites high, lougsaudy hair, and carries a basket. Absconded from Lower Bebington, Cheshire, in May last, charged on a warrant with embezzling 8s. led. the monies of his employer . John Bushby : THOMAS MACE, alias RIMMER, farm labourer, belonging to South port, about 2L years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches higb, dark complexion, brown hair, light moustache, no whiskers, rather dark sunken eyes, high cheek bones, lurna his feet out when walking; dressed when last seen in a dark grey tweed suit, white shirt front, with black studs, and black billycock hat. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Abby- street, Birkenhead, Cheshire.— Bom- street, Auqust 30. Description of a man giving the name of JOHN DODD, a millwright, charged on a warrant with stealing on the 15th instant, from bis lodgings at Fosters Booth, near Towcester : t'wo pair of dark striped Trousers, one pair darker than the other ; a brown slop, torn on back ; and a pair of Spectacles : he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 ins; high, sallow coinplexior, dark' brown hair, whiskers, and moustache, turniug grey ; dressed iu the stolen slop, white trousers, black billy hat, and spring- side boots, cut up the fronts ; he is an habitual snuff taker, knows most of the millwrights in Warwickshire and the Midland Counties ; he has been traced to Rugby. Information to be given to Superintendent Norman, Towcester, Northamptonshire, who holds a warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, August 30. Absconded on the 26th instant, from the children's hospital, Great Ormond- street, stealing a canvass Bag, labelled ' Samaritan Fund,' containing £ 20 in Gold and Cheques; a japanned tin Cash Box, 9 ins. by 5 ins, con- taining 16s. in Silver ; and a wooden Box, containing 8s. in Bronze and Silver : a man, 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, sallow complexion, black hair, thick black eyebrows, clean shaved ; dressed in dark frock coat, vest, and trousers, and round hat: a Frenchman, and likely to go to France.— —. Absconded from the Great Western Railway Station, Windsor, on the 31st May, 1876, charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 6 16s. 9d., the property of the Company ; JAMES CONNIHAN, an Irishman, 30 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet 7jj inches high, dark hair, pale thin face, sandy whiskers and moustache, slightly built, and stoops slightly. Information to be given to Superintendent Hayes, Police Office, Windsor, Berks.— Bow- street, August 28. Stolen during the night of the 26th instant, from a lodging- house in Altrincham : a blue pilot Coat, lined, with blue plaid stuff, pockets inside flaps, two packets outside, and one outside breast pocket, coat spotted w ith white paint; a grey mixture Coat. )> ried with black twilled stuff, two pockets outside and one inside breast pocket, the latter torn; two Pocket- handkerchiefs, one nearly new, white ground, with red spots and border ; a white cotton Shirt, large linen plaits in front, inside collar much worn ; a white ditto ditto, nearly new, coarse linen fronts ; a linen Jacket, tight at the wrists, worn under the sleeves ; a soft new brown billycock Hat; a pair of lace- up Boots, nearly new, with two rows of nails round soles, and plates on the heels ; a pair of lace- up Boots, halfway watertight; a pair of light lace- up Boots, once soled, one boot has been stitched at the back ; a pair of heavy lace- up Boots, recently soled, and steel heel taps. By a man, from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, tbin face, sallow complexion, dark red hair, beard from ear to ear under jaws, and walks as if he was ruptured. Information to be given to Superintendent Aston, Police Station, Altrincham, Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 28. Stolen on the 21st instant, from the person of a gentleman, a vwy small size silver English lever hunting Watch, maker William Manning, No. 3240, white dial, ' A. Tomes' engraved inside the outer Case. By a man and woman of the following discription : the man, about 40 years age, of 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, nose indented, cut marks on face, and bald on top of head ; dressed in grey mixture jacket, brown cord trousers, felt hat, and is known by the name of JACK. The woman is from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, stout, black hair, lost teeth in upper jaw ; dressed in black dress, black shawl, with light coloured border, black bonnet, with red flower. A reward of one Guinea is offered for their apprehension. Information to be given to Chief Constable Sheasby, Borough Police Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bow- street, Auqust 25. Stolen from a bed room at the '^ Crown and Anchor' Inn, Malton between the 19th and the 21st instant: a small blue and yellow Purse, with brass clasp, containing to Half- sovereigns, and Is. and 9d. in Silver, also a common watch Key a square washleather money Bag, containing about £ 8 in Gold. By a man, of the following discription : 25 to 30 years of sge, 5 feet 4 inches high, thin features, sailor? complexion, long nose, sunken eyes, dark brown hair, cut short, and parted in centre, small dark whiskers, on side of face, and proportionate figure, has a bracelet tattooed on each wrist, the figures of two men fighting on left arm, and various other blue marks on both arms ; dressed in new grey plaid coat, vest and trousers, black felt hat, low shoes, and brown striped stockings, black and red striped scarf or tie, with yellow breast pin, in shape of snaffle bit, wears a ring on finger, stone deficient, and a large linked yellow albert guard with a small silver chain interwoven in same, and locket attached. He stated that he wai a groom, and had come from Manchester. Information to be given to Super- intendent Clarkson, Malton, N. R. Stolen between the 11th and 18th ultimo, from the stable of Mrs. Ann Teece, of Gwernevy, Bausley, Mont- gomeryshire : three sets of brass Ornaments for horse's gears; two Sets for the bridles, with two hang down brasses on each set, the top one of each is an anchor in a perforated circle, one of the bottom ones is a star with two rows of perforation round it, the other bottom oue is not perforated, the points of the straps have been clumsily cut narrower by the waggoner; the other set is called a bieastplate, and consists of four brasses, on a broad strap, a narrower one having been recently sewn to it, to buckle it to the collar, the first brass is a wtieatsheaf in a circle, second a stag in a circle, third is a star in a circle, fourth resembles a horse- shoe ; and nine tail Strap*, the points cut shorter by a saddler, leaving the first hole in the extreme points, these are all nearly new, and have broad showy brass buckles of different sizes on them, those for the bridles being the largest, they are likely to be used by waggoners going into Shrewsbury, Oswestry, or Welshpool, with farming produce.
