JVntiee.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. O. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is gives, it is indispensably necessary that an Information Bhould be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insortion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ei! letters addressed to the Editor ffllSlfet be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, INFORMATIONS. MUSDES AND MALICIOUSLY" WOUIBSIG. On the 31st ultimo, the body of a female Child, about two months old, was found in a field of Mr. Wilson's, Manor House Farm, Kirkham. Between 11 p. m. on the 9th and 1.30 a. m. on the ] 0th instant,. the grocer's shop and post- office of Mrs. Esther Briscoe, Ince, Cheshire, was broken and entered and stolen therein : 4 or 5 Sixpenny Pieces, 1 Threepenny Piece, some Copper Monies, and 15 Penny; Postage Stamps. Two men and a boy were seen loitering about in the forenooD, and the boy was in the shop begging; he is from 12 to 14 years of age, and very sharp and intelligent looking ; dressed in a short dark mixture jacket, corduroy trousers, very wide. One man is 37 or 38 years of age, and 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high ; dressed in dirty light clothes. The other is an elderly man ; dressed in a long black or dark cloth coat. Information to be given to Superintendent Mayho, Tarporley, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 12. Between 9 p. m. of the 6th and 11 a. m. of the 7th instant, a dwelling- house in Bolton was broken and entered, and stolon therein : a single- breasted black cloth Frock Coat; a ditto Vest, without collar ; a pair men's black cleth Trousers, full falls; a double- breasted brown cloth Overcoat, with brown velvet collar, lined inside with brown alpaca, repaired under the sleeves with black stuff, supposed to have three pockets outside and one inside left breast; two lady's black leather Satchel, one old, with steel top, one new, with brass top ; a pepper- and- salt tweed waterproof Cloak; a child's white Polonaise and Tippet, embroidered round the bottom, collar, and sleeves ; a child's French merino Frock, with small plaits clown : the body in front, and imitation crotchet work on sleeves ; three children's white Frocks, one embroidered in the body, one with tucks in the body, the other with lavender spots ; a child's white Skirt, with double crotchet work round The body had lost both arms and a Ithe bottom ; two Blankets, one large, the other small; a pair portion of the scalp ; the missing portion of scalp with some I of Slippe^ with patent leather toecaps; a pair of dirty calico cloths have been found on the brink of the Biver gentleman s elastic- side Boots, ribbed leather tops, thin soles Derwent. Mr. Wood, Deputy Coroner, held an inquest on the evening of the 2nd instant, and from the medical evidence after a post- mortem examination of the remains, which they stated were those of a female child two months old, much decomposed, especially about the neck and chest, the collar bone fractured, and bath arms missing. At the Coroner's inquest, the medical officers were of opinion that the child had been murdered, and had been ia the water from 14 to 28 days at the least. The inquest is adjourned until the 9th instant. Stolen from Charlton Marshall, on the 9th instant : two 2 years old Heifers, the property of Mr. Goldie, one brindle, the other a spotted shorthorn. Information to be given to Mr. Goldie, or to Superintendent Underwood, Blandford, Dorset.— Bow- street, June 16. Stolen on the 12th instant, from a meadow at Spring- road, Ipswich : a small bay Pony, aged 6 year.*, with hog mane, walks a little lame, and has a small piece cut out of the off ear. Stolen from the person in a public- house in Kendal, on the 3rd instant : a silver lever hunting Watch, capped at both sides, about half worn, no inside glass face, white dial, and centre seconds, the seconds pointer broken off, and No. of watch on face; had attached a common link albert Guard, with the fastener breken off. Stolen from a field at Spittle Gap, on the 2ad instant: a bay nwre P,-; ny, 5 years old, 13J hands high, a little lame in the left shoulder; also a yearling Colt, dark brown, white mark down the face, and fore feet very much broken. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent JFearnside, Town Hall, Pontefract, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 9. Absconded, charged with stealing a Horse and Dog Cart, at Dairy, on the 29th ultimo : THOMAS INGRAM, a groom, said to be a native of Newcastle- on- Tyne, 18 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers, sallow complexion, full round face, dark grey eyes, and short nose ; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, half worn, dark tweed trousers, new, strong laced boots, and tweed cap with peak. He had been employed for some time as a groom, and on the night of the 29th ultimo he got possession of his employer's Horse and Dog Cart, disposed of them in Ayr on the follow- ing morning, and proceeded to Glasgow by train, and left Glasgow with the 10.40 p. m. train that night for Liverpool with another groom or stableman. They will probably seek employment at livery stables or with cabmen. A Sheriff's warrant has been granted for the apprehension of Ingram. Information to be given to the Chief Constable at Kircud- bright.— Boin- street, June 7. BFE6IAEY AID HOUSE BEEAEISTG. Between 3 and 6 a. m. on the 11th instant, the dwelling- house of Thomas Chambers, Church- lane, Llauidloes, was broken into and stolen therein : a pair of lace- up Boots, with brass eyelets and hobnails, man's small size, and little worn ; a white pocket Handkerchief, with red border; a Loaf of Bread ; half- a- pound of Butter ; two pounds of Sugar ; and a Teaspoon. Supposed by a tramp, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, rather sandy, and stout; wore a cap, dark coat, and the stolen boots ; carried a bundle. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Danily, Newtown, or to Sergeant Sibbald, Llanidloes, Montgomeryshire, - Bm- stmt, June 14. Merricks, Oakengates, Salop.— Bow- street, Juni 10. Stolen from a field at Ivinghoe, during the night of the 10th inst..: a light brown horso Pony, 6 years old, 12^ hands high, thick neck and mane, white star on forehead, cow hock, and Buasian breed. Information to be given to Sergeant Bowden, Police Station, Ivinghoe, or to Inspector Sapwell, Police Station, Linslade, Bucks.— Bow- street, June. 14. Stolen'from a field, during the night of the 3rd instant : a roan Mare, about 13 § ' hands high, has a scur on near hip, engine- turned cases the hair chafed on top of tail, which is small, and in rather low condition ; the property of James Wright, of Litcham. Information to be given to Superintendent Symonds, East Dereham, or to Inspector Watson, Litcham, Swaffham, Norfolk.— Bouj street, June 12. Description of EDWARD THOMAS alias BOULAND, charged with stealing a Horse ( recovered) from Ebernoe, near Petworth, on the night of the 25th ultimo : 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, brown hair, grey eyes, sallow complexion, cross on left arm, burn mark on right knee, right nostril and lip eaten away with cancer, dark whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a dark coat, and black hat. Was liberated from Portland Convict Prison last March after serving 7 years' penal servitude for horse- stealing. £ 1 10s. reward will be given for his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Kemmish, Wrest Sussex Constabulary, Petworth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 12. Description of a man charged with • stealing a Donkey ( recovered) at Thurston Clough, Saddleworth, on the 19th ultimo : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and rather slender build ; dressed in dark hard billycock hat, dark cloth coat ami vest, dark stripe trousers, small black and white plaid tie, and boot*. GRIEVE, charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 25 4s., the property of his masters, Ellis Jones and others, at Hull, on the 21st April last: he is 43 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, medium build, large whiskers, beard, aud moustache ( turning grey) ; dresses weil, and has been a clerk or traveller. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, June 16. Absconded from Nottingham on the 14th instant, charged with stealing two £ b Notes, the property of Mr. Thomas Dickinson, proprietor of the ' Flying Horse' hotel: JAMES SNAILHAM, 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 to 10 inches high, fresh complexion, nair dark brown and rather curly, dark whiskers, moustache a little lighter, shaves on chin. In April last he was employed as boots or porter at the Great Northern railway Hotel, Leeds, and in May last in the same capacity at the Swan Hotel, Bolton, Lancashire. Information to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Borough Police Station, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, June 16. Stolen from the dwelling- house of robert Simmons, at Spilsby, on the 13th instar. t: a pair of elastic- side Boots with black buttons down fronts, some of which are missing, clump soles, front strap torn off the right Boot. Supposed by a tramping printer, who lodged at the house on the pre- vious night, about 21 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, brown hair, dark complexion, small dark moustache, and very- little dark whiskers ; dressed iu a blue frock ribbed cloth coat, double- breasted vest of same material, dark trousers with pockers in side seams, grey a.. il white striped shirt with turned down collar, very narrow light neck- tie, and black Yankee hat. Was traced into Boston on the 14th. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent richdale, Spilsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, June 16. Absconded on the 10th instant, from 21, Bed Lion- square, embezzling £ 200 : a man 25 years of age, 5 ft. 5 ins. high, sallow complexion, brown bair aud moustache, sandy beard, and stout ; dressed in. brown tweed suit, hard felt hat, lace- up boots, and a native of Germany.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 14. Stolen on the 9th instant, at Slough : one Stock Brush ; one Dust Brush; and two Sash Tools ; all branded in the handles, ' J. Deverill' By a painter, 45 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, rather stout make, fresh complexion, light grey eyes, and sandy bair and whiskers ; dressed in a light mixture tweed coat and trousers, much worn, dark cloth vest, and black soft billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 14. Absconded on the 11th instant, from 69, Gt. Titchfield- street, embezzling £ 15 : a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 ins., high, and dark complexion ; dresaed in dark coat, light trousers and vest, and round felt hat. May probably go to Ipswich, where he has friends.— Metropolitan Police, E Divi- sion, June 14. Stolen between 1 and 6 on the morning of the 3rd instaut, from the dwelling- house of Mary Millward, of Longnor, lodging- house keeper: six silver Tea Spoons; one dozen nickel- silver Spoons; three silver Dessert Spoons ; a set of Coral Beads ; a pair of woman's Stockings ; a Mantle; a printed lilac Dress ; and about 15s. in Silver Monies. By a man and woman who took lodgings at the house on the previous night. The man is about 19 years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, slender build, and dark hair ; dressed in blue coat, dark check trousers, blue cloth cap, and clog?. The woman is about 18 years of age, light complexion and round shouldered ; dressed in a light skirt an jacket, and odd shoes. June 16 Description of THOMAS WATTS, alias GEORGE KING, charged on a warrant with stealing a suit of new grey plaid tweed Clothes, a pair of Trousers, and a Yest of Oxford mixture cloth, from his lodgings at Luton on the 29th ultimo : a baker, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, no whiskers, tattooed on one arm with an anchor, on the other arm a woman's head ; dressed in old dark grey suit, deerstalker hat, old elastic- side shoes. He was traced in the direction of London, and enquiring the way to Nottiog- hiil. He is known near Northampton, and has been recently convicted at Northampton of felony. He stated that he had been on board ship following his trade. Information to be given to Superintendent Tydeman, Police Station, Luton, Beds.— Bow- street, June 7. Absconded from Northampton, charged with stealing about ,£ 12 in Gold, belonging to Mr. Walter, pawnbroker, Bridge- street, on the 3rd instant : GEORGE MORRIS ( name supposed to be fictitious), about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, florid complexion, sandy hair ( parted down the middle), whiskers, and moustache, is of gentlemanly manners, and appears well educated; dressed in brown tweed shooting coat, black scarf and pin, light trousers, side,' spring boots, and black billycock bat. Ho entered the service of Mr. Walter as assistant on the 2nd inst., by means of a testimonial purporting to be from H. Middleton„ jeweller, 13, Eastborougli, Scarborough, Yorkshire, his late employer, • which is supposed to be false. He left behind him a black American cloth Portmanteau, with leather fittings, containing a white Shirt, a grey Shirt, a pair of black cloth Trousers, two black cloth Coats, and a pair of side- spring Boots. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, Borough Police, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, June 7. Description of two men, who are charged with four others, with stealing from a public- house, at Tranmere, Cheshire, on the 1st instant: a cash Box, containing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, new, ' George Penk' written on the back; and about £ i> in Gold and Silver Monies : One is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, light complexion, light brown curly hair, no moustache or whiskers, and light tuft of hair on end of chin; dressed in light coat, and black billycock hat. The other is from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black hair and beard ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Abbey - street, Birkenhead, Cheshire. — Bow- street, June 7. Absconded from Stafford, charged with stealing on the 4th ultimo, from a beer- house : a red flannel Skirt, stamped in imitation of braid at the bottom ; a white calico Chemise; and a pair of white calico Drawers with 7 or 8 tucks ; a woman, prostitute, about 22yearsof age, 5 feet 2inches high, medium build, dark complexion and eyes, dark brown hair, and speaks the Lancashire dialect; dressed in brown shawl with white stripe near the edge, black and white plaid dress, white straw hat, and elastic- side boots. She stated that she came from Manchester. When in Stafford she passed as the wife of a bricklayer of Crewe, Cheshire, and was last seen in company with another bricklayer, near Wellington, Salop, who is supposed to be now working at some bridges or tun- nelling on a railway between Walsall and Water Orton, near Nottingham. Absconded;' from Foleshill charged with rape : ENOCH ATHERSYCH," native of Foleshill and ribbon pattern maker, 45 to 50 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light brown'hair, full beard, and moderate build; generally dressed in . light plaid trousers, light grey jacket, ?. nd black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Austin, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 12. VBAVDS aJf © AOGBAVATBD Description of THOMAS KAY, grocer, formerly of Ashton- under- Lyne, charged with obtaining a quantity of Bacon, Cheese, and Butter by false pretences : 30 years of age, 5| ft. 5 ins. high, dark hair, fresh complexion, slight whiskers and moustache, and stout build ; generally dressed in Scotch black and white plaid suit, and is a native of the West of Ireland. It is supposed he will attempt to start business as provision dealer. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Dalgliesh, Borough Police Ofiica, Town Hall, Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire, who holds a warrant for hi3 apprehension.— Bow- street, June 1G. Absconded from Wetton, near Ashborne, charged on a • warrant with poisoning fish at Grindon, on the 1st instant : WILLIAM WINT, about 32 years of age, 5 feot 3 inches high, dark hair and eyes, fresh complexion, left ear bitten offj hair long on the left side to cover the same, and the fourth linger on right hand crooked ; he is a mason's labourer, and supposed to be in the neighbourhood of Sheffield or Derby. . And BENJAMIN ALCOCK, labourer, of Butterton, near Leek, about 28 years of age, 5 feet' 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers, and stoutly built. Supposed to be in the neighbourhood of the Potteries, or Manchester. Information to be given to Superintendent Williams, Leek, or to Sergeant Dobson, Warslow, near Ashborne, Staffordshire, who holds warrants for their apprehension. — Bow- street, June 16. Absconded from Greywell, Hants, on the 4th instant, charged with obtaining goods on false pretences, at Odiham, on the 31st ultimo : DORCAS WHITE, of Old Basing, near Basingstoke ; 20 years of age, 5 feet 3k inches high, fair complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, rather round featured, full face, and slightly sun freckled ; dressed ia grey dress, trimmed with blue, black hat with scarlet flowers, and is supposed to have a dark blu& waterproof with her. Infor- mation to be given to Sergeant Gilbert, Hants Constabulary, Odiham, Hants, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, June 16. Absconded from Kintbury on the 9fch instant, charged with obtaining i' 25 12s. 6d., by false pretences : THOMAS TAYLOR, late National Schoolmaster at Kintbury, 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light grey eyes, light brown hair, and Blight figure ; dressed in soft black felt hat, dark coat and trouser?, and usually wears spectacles. Has been in the army, and is believed to be a pensioner. Information to begivte to ( Superintendent Bennett, Newbury, Berks, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 16. Description of a man charged with obtaining 3s. by false pretences, at Stonebreak3, on the 8th instant: about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, cut short, moustache and imperial turning grey; dressed in white rough linen jacket, dark cloth striped trousers, cloth cap, and old shoes. Information to be given to Inspector Whincup, West Riding Constabulary, Saddleworth, York- shire.— Bow- street, June 14. Obtained by false pretences, at Keighley, on the 10th nstant: the sum of 8s. By JOHN BOOTH, native of Gateshead, a painter and paperhanger, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, well built, light brown hair, cut rather short and parted down the centre, pale complexion, round features, weara mousta$ s&? only, and cut mark on side of one eye; dressed in brown mixture overcoat with velvet collar, dark vest, black trousers, blue tie, and plaid cap, supposed blue and green. Left Keighley on the 10th instant; warrant issued. May be in company with a woman to whom he is said to be married, a native of Wrexham, and is a tall, stout woman. Information to be given to Superintendent Ireland, West Riding Constabulary, Keighley, Yorkshire — Bow- street, June 14. Description of WILFRED M. WALLER ( uame sup- posed to be fictitious) charged by William Garrett, hotel keeper, Chepstow, with obtaining £ 3 by means of a false cheque, drawn ori Messrs. Coutts and Co., London': about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, prominent eyes, dark complexion, hair ( parted in the middle and very thin in front), whiskers, and moustache; dressed in dark grey suit, and black felt hat, had with him a small black leather bag, light coloured satin scarf, with silver or steel scarf pin, in the form of a driving bit with cross bar, attached, several rings^ on his fingers, one of them silver, and carried a walking stick, with silver band on the handle. He is very fond of talking about officers in the Army and horse racing, is of gentlemanly appearance and manners, and said he was a member of the Grafton Club, Graf ton- street, London. Coutts and Co., in favour of Claude Fane) on an hotel keeper at Weymouth, on the evening of the 1st instant : from 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, very much sunburnt, dark hair and whiskers ( cut rather short), dark moustache, and high square broad forehead ; dressed in a dark brown suit, dark overcoat, and dark felt hat; wore rings ( one of them silver), and a silver or steel scarf pin in the form of a driving bit, with cross bar attached, and had a small black leather bag with him. CLAUDE FANE, and stated that he returned from Ind'ia with the Prince of Wales ; that he had served in a cavalry regiment; and that he had been • staying at the Castle Hotel, Taunton.
