Notice.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear tile Signature of the person requiring or sending the Bame, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Home is given, it is indispensably neisssarv that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, ail Shelters addressed to the Editor must toe prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MUEDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of GEORGINA STANIER, alias WHIT- TINGHAM, who absconded from East Yale, near Longton, on the morning of the 10th instant, charged with murderiDg her female infant child, on the 9th February last : 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fair complexion, rather thin features, light auburn hair brushed off forehead ; dressed in black crape bonnet, black dress with one flounce, old faded paisley shawl, leather boots with elastic sides. A warrant is issued for her apprehension. A reward of £ 50 is offered by Her Majesty's Government for the conviction of the murderer or murderers. See Police Gazette of the 13th March and following dates. Information to be given to Superin- tendent McWilliams, Police Station, Longton, Staffordshire, or at any other Police Station in the county. - Bow- tt., April 18. Jacket, pockets outside about half worn out; a pair of light- coloured Trousers ; a grey Shirt; anew blue bundle Hand- kerchief ; and £ 3 in Money. Suspicion is attached to a tramp about 35 years of age, with sandy moustache and whiskers, and supposed to be dressed in the stolen clothes and cap. Information to be given to Superintendent. Free- man, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.— Bow- street, April 21. Between 10 a. m. and 6 p. m. on the 17th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Buckmaster, Twydell, farmer, at Moore End Farm, in the parish of Bovingdon, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a gold Albert Chain, with Locket ( hair inside), Seal, and gold 7s. Piece ; a gold Ring, set with red stones; a gold Ring, with plaited ha; r all rouud, ' M. A. H.' engraved on it; a gold Ring, with small diamond, six pearls set round it and four turquoise stones ; a gold Breast Pin, with rings twisted for top ; a silver Watch, gilt figures, ' J. B. TV scratched iuside the case ; a silver Albert Chain, with Pencil, chain pattern ; a 2 chamber breech- loading Pistol, steel plated and figured. Information to be given to Superintendent Isgate, Hemel Hempstead, Herts- — Bow- street, April 21. On the loth instant, the Postal Telegraph Office at Gloucester Docks, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : £ 1 7s. in Silver and 4s. 7d. in Copper. On the same afternoon, the warehouse of Mr. John Ware, currier, of London- road, Gloucester, was broken and entered, and about £ 1 worth of Receipt and Postage Stamps, and 4d. ia Copper, stolen therein. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Griffin, Police Office, Gloucester.— Bow- street, April 18. FOEGEEY. Description of JOHN MILLS, late clerk to Mr. Moss, contractor, of Stafford, who is charged with forging and uttering on the 2' st February last a cheque for £ 68 9s. 7d. : he is about 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, black hair, blue . eyes, slight black whiskers and moustache; dressed in a suit black clothes, elastic side boots, black billycock hat; wears a gold ring on little fiDger left hand. He was last seen at Lichfield on the 21st or 22nd February last, and is supposed to have since enlisted in some Cavalry Regiment Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guildhall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 21. HOIBTSE AMD CATTLE STEALING. Further description of one of the men charged with stealing a Horse and Harness from Bilston, on the 11th ultimo, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 15th ultimo : the person who sold the Horse is described as about 40 years of age, middle size, wore a tuft of sandy hair on chin, blind of right eye ; dressed in a suit of old black clothes, and wears clogs. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent McCrea, Police Office, Bilston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 18. Absconded from Cardiff, charged ( upon a warrant) with stealing a Horse and Trap, since recovered : HENRY CHARLES, a Jew, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, whiskers and moustache recently shaved off, dark complexion, very dark eyebrows, thick lips, lisps, and has projecting teeth ; dressed in a light cloth coat, light cloth trousers fitting tight to legs, and top boots, brown Bowler hat, and carries with him a black leather bag. He left Newport for Liverpool by the 5.25 tiain on the 8th. inst. A reward of £ 2 is offered f'> r his apprehension. Stolen between the 15th and 16th instant, from the per- son of James Bracken Richardson, at Barrow- in- Furness : a wash leather Purse, containing £ 20 in Gold,— 16 £ 5 Notes of the Craven Bank, 3 £ 5 Notes of the Bradford Bank, and 1 £ 5 Bank of England Note. Information to be given to Superintendent Barker, Police Station, Barrow, Lancaster- shire.— Bow- street, April 18. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at the steeple- chase, Packington, on the 8th instant: an English silver lever Watch, capped and jewelled in six holes, white enamelled dial, black hands and sunk seconds; maker's name ' Brown,' Moate- street, Coventry,' and ' R. Bennett' engraved on inside of case. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallawayi, Constabulary Office, Aston, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, April 13. Stolen on the 6th instant, on the Race Corse, Daventry from the person of Mr. Bagg, Surgeon, of Priors Marston : a silver lever Watch, gold albert Guard attached, maker Nathaniel Hedges, Birmingham. And from the person of Joseph Wright of Everdon : a silver lever Watch, makers name on dial, ' John Jones,' Strand, and also on the cap over the works ' J. R. W.' on back of case outside. Information to be given at the Borough Police Station, Daventry, Northampton.— 2? oui- Km*, April 12. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at the Steeple Chafes, Packington, on the 8 th instant: a gold lever Watch, supposed No. 1865, has a gold radiated dial, and large black hands. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Constabulary Office, Aston, near Birmingham, Warwickshire. — Bow- street, April 12. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. On the leth instant, a cottage near Abergavenny was broken into, and the following property of John Holland stolen therein: a pair of new dark brown tweed Trousers, full fronts, ' Tedman' on buttons; a new double- breasted Waistcoat of the same pattern; a brown double- breasted LAMCEIY AND EMBEZZLEMENT?. Stolen from the house of E. G. Davies, Churchstoke, during the night of the 9th instant ; a pair of thin lace- up Boots, toe- capped, and brass eyelet- holes, middle size, recently soled. By a man who had been lodging in the house and gave the name of RICHARD DETHRIDGE, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, light brown hair, d- irk com- plexion, boil marks on back of neck ; he says he is a biick- maker, and has worked in the neighbourhood of Wrexham ; dressed in a brown cloth coat, new cotton cord trousers, trimmed with white bone buttons, and sewn on with brown hemp, new blue and white striped cotton shirt, marked on the collar ' P./ G.', a cap, and the stolen boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to P. C. Lewis, Churchstoke, Montgomeryshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. - Bow- street, April 21. Stolen from a dwelling house in Middlesbrough, on the 17th instant: 14 yards black Silk, with yellow border. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout made, fresh complexion, walks rather lame on one leg, chiu shaved, large light- coloured moustache, light brown hair, has a cut mark under lower lip ; dressed in a dark cloth shootiug coat, vest, and trousers, brown cloth topcoat with velvet collar, billycock hat ; carries a black leather bag, and stated he was a painter and decorator. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Borough Police Station, Middlesbrough, Yorks.— Bow street, April 19. Description of WILLIAM PARKHOUSE, a trampiug labourer, a native of Uffoulme, Devon, who is charged with stealing, on the 10th instant, a quantity of wearing Apparel, recovered, at Moorhays Farm, in the parish of Burlescombe, Devon : he is 36 years of age, looks older, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, eyes sunk back iu head, supposed to be slightly marked with small- pox, and has a slight, impediment in his speech; dressed when seen at Taunton, on the 11th instant, where he sold the stolen property, in old grey cloth jacket, much wore, dirty white slop, fustian trousers and vest, a large white handker- chief tied round his neck, black billycock hat, with the crown broken down in the centre, and a small red feather stuck inside the band, and lace- up boots, with very small nails ; he had a small brass ring on the little finger of his right hand ; he stated that he was going to tramp to Bradford, Yorkshire, and is likely to be found seeking relief for the night in j workhouses, or may be found sleeping in out- houses. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Collins, Devon Con- stabulary, Cullompton, Devon, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 19. Charged with stealing in the parish of Southill, on the 6th instant, a Vest, since found pawned at Hitchin: a tramp about £ 0 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, hair turning grey, and beard about three weeks' growth ; dressed in an old high beaver hat, dark coat, vest, and trousers, much worn. He was traced to a lodging- house at Hertford, where he slept on the night of the 9th instant, and left next morning. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Bedlow, Police Station, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. — Bow- street, April 18. Description of WILLIAM alias SOLOMAN SIZER, charged ou a warrant with stealing a gold albert Guard, a silver Watch, and other articles, the property of the North Eastern railway Company, his master.-, on the 9th December last : 28 years ot age, 5 feet 7 inches high, small red whiskers, strong moustache, nearly bald headed. He has a relative, at Walthamstow, and three years ago he lived in Hare- street, Bethnal- green. Information to be given t- i Chief Constable Cook, Hull, York.— Bow- street, Aptil 18. Stolen from Middlesbrough on the 15th instant, a silver lever Watch, engraved on inner case ' John McCabe,' maker ' J. Broadie, Middlesborough,' with a long silver curb Guard attached. By a manj 25 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair inclined to be curly, no whiskers, and small light moustache ; dressed in a short grey coat, dark browli trousers, old black velvet cap, and old toots, all very dirty ; he speaks the Sunderland dialect. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Mid dlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, April 18. Stolen from a dwelling- liouse in Carlisle, on the 15th inst. : a black cloth Coat ( recovered); a black worsted Coat, ditto; two Vests, same material, one of which has been re- covered ; a small checked woollen Coat, with light buttons-; a white cotton Shirt with linen breast, marked ' T. Stordy'; a pair of wool stockings marked ' T. S.'; a gold breast Pin with green stone ; a pair of water- tight Shooting Boots ; and a pair of black Trousers ( recovered) : by a man who was seen wearing the unrecovered articles, 40 to 45 yeara of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, stout build, fair hair, whiskers, and complexion, and broken nose. Information to be given to Chief Constable Hemingway, Carlisle.— Bow- street, Apnl 18i Stolen in Preston since the 5th inst. : a gold keeper Ring, has teeth marks on it ; a gold plated Pin with blue stone ; a black silk Necktie, and a pair of Cuffs. By a young woman who had been lodging at the house a. d stated that she came from Moon's Mill, and had been workiDg at Fishwick Mill. She is about 18 years of age, stout and low set. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough Police Station, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, April 13. Description of JOHN BROWN, of Winterborne, Steeple ton, Dorset, charged with stealing on the 1st instant, a silver Watch ( recovered) from the dwelling- house of Martha Riggs, Fordington : 23 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, thin sanely moustache, flat nose, aud has been a soldier; dre3sed in dark coat, dark double- breasted vest, cord trousers, and soft felt hat. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Coward, Borough Police Office, Guildhall, Dorchester, Dorset, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 12. Absconded : RICHARD and ELIZABETH EGLING- TON, natives of Moselyhall, near Wolverhampton : the man is about 36 years of age, 5 feet high, stout build, no whiskers, bow legged, a collier ; dressed in plaid trousers, with a patch on one knee; the woman has a dark complexion and hair, cut short, scar on neck, and has two thumbs on the right hand ; dressed in a black dress, with flounces. They are charged with stealing a black cloth Coat, nearly new ; two pairs of lace- up boots, one gutta- percha, nailed, the other leather; two Shirts, one flannel, the other striped cotton ; a Shift ; a pair of woollen Stockings ; and £ 2. They left behind some old boots and shirts ; they are supposed to be in Hauley, Staffordshire, or Wigan, Lancashire. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Bradshaw, Wrexham, Denbighshire, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, April 12. Description of JOHN FRAZER, lately agent for Messrs. Burbridge, Pritchard, and Bartlest, wholesale tea dealers, No, 14, Little Tower- street, London, at Newcastle- upon- Tyne, who is charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 2C0 : he is about 33 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, very dark or black hair, whiskers, and moustache, sallow complexion, stout person, leans a little forward when walking, and has a rather slow way of speaking ; generally dresses in dark clothes, and is of respectable appearance ; he is a native of Scotland, but resided for several years in London ; he was seen in Liverpool on the 3rd instant, and it is supposed he will endeavour to leave the country. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Central Police Station, New- castle- upon- Tyne, Northumberland.— Bow- street, April 12, Charged with larceny at Sheffield : DANIEL O'SUL- LIVAN, a native of Cork, a medical assistant, about 2a yrs. of age, 6 feet high, broad shoulders, military appearance, fresh complexion, brown hair, little whiskers, rather sandy, thin prominent roman nose, large ears, which project very much from the head. Information to be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield, Yorkshire^— Bow- Weet, April 12. 2 P O L I C E GAZETTE. April 21 FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded from Llettyrafel, near Neath, on the 16th instant, charged ( on a warrant) with rape : DUNCAN McDERMID, a native of Blair Athol, Scotland, 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, long thin features, large nose, wide nostrils, very small head, hair cut short, and parted in the middle, small light tuft of hair on the chin, very small whiskers, and large feet; speaks with a strong Scotch accent, and has a slight impediment; dressed in a new dark small plaid grey suit, and a round bowler hat. Information to be given to Super- intendent Howlett, County Constabulary, Neath, Glamorgan- shire.— Bow- street, April 21. Absconded from Minchinhampton, Gloustershire, on the 1st instant, charged with counselling and procuring Mary Ann Rose to administer poison to her illegitimate child at Minchinhampton on the 31stult. : CAROLINE GRANT, about 17 years of age, about b feet high, black hair, dark complexion, very thick lips, and cut mark down the forehead ; dressed iu old light print dress with large flounce, old brown jacket, old black hat trimmed with black and scarlet ribbon, old lace- up boots with patches on sides ; carried an old light shawl ; she ij a native of Tetbury, Gloustershire. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Hanbridge, Stroud, Gloucestershire, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, April 12. FRAUDS AM © A6GEAVATSS MliBEMEAIOUSK. WILLIAM WARNER, charged with obtaining £ 5 12s. by false pretences, as advertised in the Police Gazette of the 24th ultimo and 13th instant and 19th instant, has been apprehended. Photographs of him can be obtained on application to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham.— Bow- street, April 21. Absconded, charged with obtaining money and goods by false pretences from merchants in Poitobello, near Edinburgh, and tendering Cheques on the Commercial Bank of Scotland, where he had no funds : THOMAS HUNTER ( name sup- posed to be fictitious) a German, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, and daik hair and whiskers ; dressed in brown top coat, dark cloth trousers, and low felt hat. He was accompanied by a woman about 30 years of age, and a man of a similar appearance to himself. Information to be given to Chief Constable List, County Buildings, Edinburgh, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of Hunter.— Bow- street, April 21. JOHN GLASBROOK, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 13th instant, charged with larceny as a bailee, at Stafford, has been apprehended, and is remanded until the 24th instant; he is a tramping tailor. Information to be given to Police Sergeant Buckley, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, April 21. Further information respecting WILLIAM GRIFFIS, alias GEORGE WOOD, described in the Police Gazette of the 31st December and 5th January last; charged with obtaining Money by fraud from Lloyd's Bank, Stafford. On the 23id ultimo he was in custody at Liverpool, in the name of DAVID ROBERTS, charged with obtaining a Bill of Exchange by fraud. He was discharged, and nothing has since been heard of him. It is supposed he is in some large town in the Northern Counties. The reward of £ 5 for his apprehension is still offered. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guild Hall, Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, April 13. Absconded from 301, Strand, charged with having obtained on 5th November last, £ u0 by f-' lse pretences: GEORGE REID, 45 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair and beard turning grey, small scar on back of neck, and round shoulders; dressed generally in dark clothes, and high hat, of respectable appearance. He is supposed to have been convicted in 1S68 or 1869, and was sentenced to 5 years t> ehai servitude. Warrant issued. — Metropolitan Police, E Division, April 12. MISCEL& AiKISOIOfS SHFOaMATZONa Bemanded at Luton, charged with ' felony, a tramping tailor, giving the name of GEORGE WILLIAMS : 38 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers, blue eyes, and ' D' branded on left side ; says he was in the Royal Artillery, but has no discharge ; dressed in an old pepper and salt coloured cloth coat, black ribbed cloth vest, black cloth trousers, black deerstalker hat, and old shoes, one lace- up, the other elastic- side. Had in his possession four Pawntickets: one for Trousers, 5s., August, 1875, at 96 and 97, Kirkgate, Leeds, by Emma Thompson ; one Vest, 2s. 6d., with Ellis Hiller, 32, Brook- street, Hull, on the 24th January, 1876, by George Williams ; one Vest, Is. 6d., with B. Thompson, 61, Eastborough, Merchants- row, Scar- borough, by James Green ; and the other a black Overcoat, 15s., with John Drage, 49, Scarletwell- street, Northampton, by George Williams, 6th April, 1876. Information to be given to Superintendent Tydeman, Police Station, Luton, Beds.- Bow- street, April 21; Description of JOHN REDMAN, of Manchester, who is charged with stealing from the person a medium size silver hunter Geneva Watch ( not recovered), No. 64794, 4 E, B.' engraved on the back of outside case, at Torquay Race Course, Devon, on the 18th instant, and who is remanded till the 21st instant: 22 years of age, 5 feet 5i inches high, fresh complexion, very light brown hair, light blue eyes, has no hair on his face, cut on left thumb, two small moles on back of left arm, large mole on belly, second finger of right hand injured, marks of several boils on back of neck, of° medium build ; dressed in light tweed coat and vest, light tweed trousers, hard felt hat, and elastic- side boots. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Hodges, Devon Constabulary, Exeter.— Bow- street, April 21. Remanded at Salisbury City Police Station, charged with felony : WILLIAM DEAR, 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, sandy whiskers meeting on chin, dark blue eyes, woman and dog on left arm, two flags, anchor, and woman on right arm ; dressed in dark mixture cloth coat, pockets on hips, dark cloth vest, fustian trousers, lace boots, black billycock hat. GEORGE SHEPPARD, 25 years of age, 5 feet 7f inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, light whiskers meeting on chin, light blue eyes; dressed in dark brown overcoat, black vest,' light cloth trousers, white muffler, grey cloth cap with peak. He is supposed to have been convicted at Southampton. Information to be given to Superintendent Mathews, City Police Station, Salisbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, April 21. Missing from his home at Melton, since the 10th instant : WILLIAM SMITH, 14 years of age, pale complexion, small features ; dressed in a grey suit, and blue pilot jacket over, black cap with white piping; he may be in the neighbourhood of Sudbury or in Essex, as he has relatives in Dengie and Tellingham. It is feared some ill has befallen him. £ 5 reward and all expenses will be paid, on the boy being brought back to Melton. Information to be given to Super- intendent Freeman, Woodbridge, Suffolk.— Bow- st., April 21. WILLIAM BAKER, advertised in Police Gazette of May 31st, 1875, charged with stealing a quantity of Iron, at the parish of Pontesbury, has been apprehended at Llangollen, and is remanded until Creechton Petty Sessions, on the 28th instant: about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion, dark hair, tuft on chin, and has lost some front teeth ; dressed in a sleeved waistcoat, cord trousers, and soft billycock bat; he is a hawker. During the last 18 months he has resided at Denbigh, Shrewsbury, Newtown, and Llangollen, and states that he is a native of Liverpool. He is accompanied by a woman who is a native of Buckley, near Mold. Information to be given to Superintendent Howells, County Police Office, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Walters, Pontesb'ury, Salop.— Bow- street, April 19. Missing from his home since the 17th instant: ROBERT GEORGE JUDAS STAINA, 18 years of age, very young looking, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, black hair cut short, he speaks three or four different languages ; dressed in black coat and trousers, black tie, and black bowler hat, and carrying a black leather bag, containing clothes, and two old pistols and a life perserver. It is feared some ill has befallen him. Information to be given to Chief Con- stable Bond, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, April 19. OFFENCES OT3EE " THE PREVENTION OF CHIME* ACT. 18 TIL" Description of JOHN WILSON, alias EDWARD SMITH and JONES, Reg. No. S. 22, who has left Black- pool without giving notice as required by the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871 : 28 years of age, 5 feet 6f inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, marks of scar on neck and jaw, and slightly pockmarked. He was convicted at Manchester on the 7th May, 1874, and sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and 7 years police supervision, and was liberated from Manchester Gaol on the 6 th November last. He was convicted on the 15th October, 1867, and sentenced to 5 years penal servitude at Havefordwest, on the l4tj » March, 1874, at Appleby.
