The I^ mes of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, ail Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, INFORMATIONS. UUBDEE AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDI16. A Child, named EMILY HOLLAND, 7 years of age, left her home, at 4' 30 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, at 110, Moss- street, Blackburn, and at 12 noon on the 30th ultimo, the mutulated body, without arms, legs, or head, was found in a field at Bastwell, in the borough of Blackburn. Afterwards on the same day the legs and feet were found iu a field at Lower Cunliffe, in the township of Rishton. The child was dressed in a black frock, black velvet hat with black feather, purple and white plaid shawl, boots, lilac printed pinafore with black leather belt round the waist, and blue ribbon round her head, fastening the hair. At the time she was last seen near her home, a man sent her into a shop to purchase some tobacco, and she was not again seen alive ; it is suspected that the man decoyed her away, and afterwards murdered her. He is 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, proportionately made, long face, cheeks rather full, dark beard from lower side of face to and round the chin, dark long hair, brown skin as if sua burnt, round shouldered, and his neck sinking partly forward ; dressed in a black billycock hat with narrow brim, a dark mixture cloth loose j acket, single- breasted brown vest, dirty fustain trousers worn at the bottoms, clogs worn down at sides, and leather on the top cut open. This • man was seen begging in the neighbourhood where tha child resided for about two hours, and was not seen after the child was missing. Information to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire. — Bow- street, April 3. A gold English lever Watch, open- face, cream- coloured dial, seconds hand, chased case, with rose and forget- me- nots on back, maker N. Alker, No. 315, had a Hook attached. £ 5 reward. A silver lever Watch, plain case, open face, white dial, sunk seconds, maker Howard, Derby- road, Kirkdale. A silver lever Watch, has inside ' Made Penrith, Cumber- land.' £ 1 reward. A silver lever hunting Watch, plain cases, gold balance and joints, jewelled in two pairs extra, white dial, maker William Peters, No. 1682, has ' James McCleary, Liverpool, 1870,' engraved on inside case, had attached a gold Albert, with masonic Key Stone. £ 2 reward. A gold diamond breast Pin, the head about the size of a half- penny, with a cluster of diamonds in the centre, had a small gold Quoit attached with a piece of Chaia. £ 2 reward. A silver Geneva Watch, single case, ' P. H. J.' supposed engraved on outside of case. A silver Geneva Watch, white dial, chased round edge of dial. And a lady's gold Geneva Watch, dark brown dial, with seconds hand. The rewards above mentioned will be paid for the recovery of the property, and for such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the oflender or offenders. Information to be given at the County Police Office, Old Swan, near Liverpool.— Bovj- st'eet, March 29. BOBBERY AITD LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a lady, in Sunderland, on the evening of the 1st instant: a gold Geneva Watch, No. 2321. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stainsby, Sun- derland, Durham.— Boio- street, April 7. Stolen from the person of Jane Wassall, of Priors Lee, at Shiffnal Railway Station, about 2 p. m. on the 3rd instant: a dark coloured leather Purse, with gilt lines and broad elastic band, containing a £ 5 Bank of England Note, eight Sovereigns, and] about £ 2 in Silver. Supposed by two men, one about 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, small light whiskers and moustache : dressed in light clothes. The other about 20 years of age, no whiskers or moustache; dressed in dark overcoat, and light plaid trousers. It is supposed that they booked by the 2 p. m. train for Wolver- hampton, Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Ivins, Wellington, or to Sergeant Meredith, Shiffnal, Salop. — Bow- street, April 5. Stolen between 3 and 4 p. m. on the 28th uli. from the person of mr. Henry Bagshaw, of Uttoxeter, grocer : a silver lever Watch. No. 27756, makers name ' J. W. Jennings, Birmingham.' Information to be given to Inspector Fenner, Town Hall, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.— Bvk- ii., April 3. Stolen from the person of Mr. George Patten, at Heath Town, about 11 p. m. on the 25th instant: one gold lever Watch, No. 1436, gold dial and . figures, gold balance and engine- turned case ; and an old wash- leather Bag, containing one Sovereign and Six or Seven Shillings in Silver. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Superintandent McCrea, Con- istabulary Office, Bilston, or to Sergeant Goodall, Constabulary Office, New Cross, Heath Town, Staffordshire.— Boy>- street, March. 29. Stolen from the person at Aintree Eace- course, on the 23rd and 24th instant: A silver lever Watch, open face, white dial, sunk seconds, and gold hands, maker William Sweetman, Liverpool, No. 1872 or 1873, had attached a gold Albert, curb pattern. £ 1 reward. A plain gold fall plate lever open- face Watch, white enamel dial, without seconds, No. 6103. jg,£ l reward. BURGLARY AIB HOUSE BREAKING. Between 3 and 5 p. m. on the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of James Pickard, roughey, Horsham, was entered by means of breaking a square o£ glass in the back kitchen window, and stolen therein : a gold albert Chain, with a Locket attached, ' In memory of'; a spade Guinea, date 1787; a Half Guinea ; a small diamond Seal; a lady's long gold Chain, square links ; a silver Pencil case, with the days of the week on the top ; six old silver Coins, on a ring ; a silver Toothpick; and a Pen- knife, in the shape of a fox, with a silver head. Supposed by a man, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, little whiskers ; dressed iu a dark coat and trousers, large at the bottom, and dark round soft felt hat; he had the appearance of having been a soldier. Information to be given to Superintendent Henderson, West Sussex Constabulary, Horsham.— Bow- street, April 7. Stoleti by means of housebreaking at Bronmwyn Lead Mine, near Pontrhydfendigaid, Cardiganshire, between 7 p. m. on the 28th, and 7 a. m. on the 29th ultimo : two Coats ; a measuring Tape ; a long white flannel Shirt ; a Handsaw; and 4 lbs. of Tallow Candles. Supposed by a Welshman, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, ruddy complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, no whiskers or moustache, has a very small blue mark on left cheek, generally works as a labourer for short periods, at farm- houses. And a woman, who stays at a common lodging- heuse, in the same neighbour- hood, doing sewing work. They have been traced in the direction of rhaydr. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Lloyd, Aberystwith, or to P. C. Pierce, Pontrhyd- fendigaid, Strata Florida, Cardiganshire.— Boia- st., April 3. The two men who gave their names as GEORGE BROWN and THOS. SMITH, described ia Police Gazette of the 13th instant and subsequent dates, charged with burglary, have been identified as THOMAS GIBBONS and CHABLES BYATT ; both are license- holders, and were convicted and sentenced to 10 years penal servitude iu 1868. The third man is still at large. Information to be given to Chief Constable Berry, Gravesend, Kent. — Bow- street, March 29. Stolen by means of housebreaking, the property of James Langridge, iu the parish of North Sussex, on the 27th iust. : about £ 5 10s. in Gold ; a gold wedding Ring ; a small chased diamond Eing, has a crack inside ; a gold King, with red stone, opening each side of stone ; a pair of common Ear- rings ; a pair of coral Ear- rings, the wire of one was missing; one plain gold Ear- ring; a half- pint metal Cup, with foot ; a brown silk Umbrella, nearly new; and a cock Canary Bird, with a top- knot. Supposed by a man, from 2ij to 30 years oi age, about 5 feet C inches high, pale complexion, face cleau shaved, stout make, and high shoulders ; dressed in light clothes; supposed to be a German. Information to be given to Superintendent Kennard, Police Station, East Grinstead, Sussex.— Bow- street, March 29, Between Ca. m. and 6 p. m. on 27th instant, a dwelling- house in Ashton- under- Lyne was entered by means of cutting out a square of glass in the back kitchen window, and the following property stolen therein : a black cloth twilled worsted Coat, single- breasted, two pockets outside and one inside left breast, three cloth buttons on right side ; a double- breasted Vest, same material; a pair of grey mixture plaid cloth Trousers, fly fronts ; a black cloth double- breasted Coat, two pockets outside and one inside left breast; a, black cloth double- breasted Yest, four cloth buttons on each side ; a la dy's silk velvet Jacket, scalloped round the collar ; a lady's black rep cloth Jacket, made to fit tight, trimmed with velvet reefer and black glass buttons; a black Dress, in three pieces, viz, jacket body, pannier, and skirt; a Scarlet french merino Skirt, has a" frill round the bottom, trimmed with velvet; two white flannel Petticoats, three tucks oil each; a woollen Muffler, marked with birds at each corner ; a white silk Pocket- handkerchief, with flowers ; a Mackintosh, black outside and lead- colour inside; a dark grey cloth Shawl, bottom striped with orange; two fine cotton Sheets, new ; a brown Skirt, has three lows of black velvet and flounced round the bottom ; a i. ew pur of elastic Braces, red and white stripe ; a double- plate 1 Albert Guard, with Locket attached ; and a black leather Purse, containing a Florin. Information to be given to Chief Constable Dalgliesh, Ashton- under- Lyne, Lancashire.— R'ci>>- ttreet, March 29. HOSM AID CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the night of the 7th July, 1875, from a field in Spit- lane, South Weald, the property of Mr. James Manning : a bay nag Mare, 8 years old, 16 hands high, small white mark on near fore leg, above the knee, black mane and tail, chipped knees, wart on inside of oil' hind quarter, and near hind fetlock a little swollen; the mare was supposed to have been in foal when stolen, and may possibly be traced by her foal. A reward of £ 10 will be paid by the owner, on recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Dobson, Police Station, Brentwood, Essex, — Bow- street, April 7. Description of a man charged with stealing a Pony, Cart, and Harness, which he hired, on the 28th ultimo fioni Alfred rodgers, at Hitchin : about 23 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, black hair, no whiskers, slight build, and pale looking ; dressed in dark clothes, ' the pony is aged, 14 hands high, brown colour ; the harness is silver- mounted ; tKe cart small, oak coloured, with straight shafts. The property was traced to Hertford and Cheshuat, on the morning of the 29th ultimo, going towards London. Infor- mation to be given to Inspector Young, Police Station, Hitchin, Herts,— Bow- street, April 3. Found ( supposed to have been stolen) at Coped Hall, Wootton Baasett, on the 19th ultimo : a brown gelding Horse, 4 years old, 16 hands high, and unbroken."' Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent North, Wilts Constabu- lary, Swindon. - Bow- street, March 29. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded from Dudley, on the 26th ultimo, charged with embezzling 3s. 6d., the monies of the Dudley Colliery Company, Limited : MOSES GREGORY, machine clerk, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark com- plexion, black whiskers and moustache, low forehead, and has lost his right leg ; dressed in black cloth suit of clothes, and a round hard billy hat. Information to be given to j Chief Superintendent Burton, Borough Police Office, Dudley, Woicestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- itreet, Ap il 7. Absconded from South Shields, on the 24th ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzlement: LUKE READFORD, a brewer's clerk, 19 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, oval face, good looking, dark brown hair, pro- portionate build : dressed iu a dark grey suit, and round felt hat. He is very fond of billiards and is likelv to be found staying at an hotel. Infoimation to be given to Head Constable" Richardson, Borough Police Oiiiee, South Shields, Durham.— Brno- street, April 3. Absconded, charged with having at Ely, on 30th ult., embezzltd £ 4 4s. Id., the monies of Mary Ann Seaber, of Mildenhall, Suffolk : HENRY BARKER, a farm labourer, about 28 yea's of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, light hair, small whiskers ; dressed either in corduroy or dark cloth trousers with stripe, sleeved vest, and chummy hat; he is hunch- backed and fond of drink; he was at Cambridge on 31st ult. and took train for Nottingham. Has probably a new coat on now, as he left his own at Ely with his mistress's horse and cart. Information to be given to Superintendent .
