Notice.— It is requested that all communications lor the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MUBDJEB AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING- On the 30th ultimo, the body of a newly- born, female Child was found dead in a stream of water in a mea- dow at Cove, Yately, Hants ; it had been in the water 24 hours. At the coroner's inquest a veidict of ' Wilful murder against some person or persons unknown' was returned. .£ 50 reward will be paid by Government to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the murderer or murderers. The Home Secretary will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead, to the like result. Information to be given to Chief Constable Foirest, Winchester, Hants.— Bow- street, February 11. in dark clothes, and sometimes wears a cap ; he frequents many towns in Lancashire and Yorkshire, particularly Rochdale, Manchester, Blackburn, Oklham, Bury, Preston, Wigan, Halifax, Haddersfield, Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, and Liverpool. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Bolton, Lancashire. — Bow- street, February 7. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen on the night of the 20th ultimo, by breaking into a lockup workshop at Llanvairwaterdine : one Hand Saw, nearly new; one ditto, old, and the point broken oft'; one Tenon Saw, marked ' A. Francis;' one pair of Bell Pliers; one Hand Vice, marked ' A. I\' at the joint ; and an old Tool Basket. By JOHN PRICE, alias JACK THE TEMPLE, a returned convict, 55 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fair complexion, sandy whiskers, stout make ; dressed in dark jacket, cord trousers tied under each knee, and black hat; he may be wearing an oilcloth double- breasted coat, stolen in the neighbourhood on the same night. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, Chttrch Stretton, or to Sergeant Lear, Bromfield, Salop, who holds a warrant.— Bow- street, February 9. Stolen from a bed- room at a lodging- house, in Luton, woiking condition, sore on back ; also a light spring Cart, without seat, wicker sides and back, maker ' Maythorn, Biggleswade,' on the brass of the boxes of the wheels; and a set of black Harness, mounted with brass. By two men, dressed as horse copers, who were traced to Stevenage Toll Gate, where they took a ticket for Brickwall Gate, near Welwyn, but did not go there, and are supposed to have passed through Ware or Hertford, on their way to London: one is about 5 feet 6 inches high, the other about 5 feet 4 ins. high, fair camplexion ; they wore hard felt bats, and short jacket?. Found, supposed to have been stolen, at Ashmore Lake, in the township of Willenhall, on the 3rd instant, and now in. the possession of Mr. John Robotham : a black horse Pony, aged, 12 hands high, white star on forehead, long mane and tail, and in good condition. L.' in pitch on near side and under during the night of the 6th instant, by a young man, about j farthing in off ear. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Bentley, near Walsall : a dark brown horse Pony, 5 years old, 12 hands high, saddle mark on back, large mane, short tail, with- out shoes, and in good condition. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, 19 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, much pockmarked, light hair, out short, having recently been liberated from prison : a black billycock Hat, nearly new ; blue cloth Coat, with velvet collar, axd open at breast ; brown speckled cloth double- breasted Yest and Trousers ; a pair of lace- up Shoes, quite new, toe- caps, and tips on heels ; and a white silk Neckerchief. Description of the late Middlesborougb Borough accountant, charged with forgery: he is supposed to have sailed from England between the 10th and 12th ultimo, and is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, thin, smart appearance, fair complexion, dark hair, and wore large dark beard, whiskers, and moustache. Was accompanied by his • wife and five children, the eldest a boy about 14 years of age, second a girl about 12 years of age, with light flaxen hair. Stolen in Aberdeen, from the person of a gentleman, by means of assault and robbery, about midnight on the 5th instant : a gold English lever Watch, maker George Oram and Sons, London, No. 1607, having a band holding a • wheat sheaf on a shield on the back ; also an albert Chain, curb pattern, with hook for fastening. Description of SAMUEL WARD, late of Wellington, Salop, charged on a warrant ( with two other men in custody) for assaulting with intent to rob John Bullock, of Admaston, at 10 p. m. on the 30th ultimo : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout make, light complexion, long sandy moustache, no whiskers, and of smart appearance; dressed in dark overcoat, light mixture trousers, and higli hat; he is a billiard marker, and was last employed - t the Royal Hotel, Llangollen, It is supposed that he has gone to Wrexham or Liverpool, and will probably attempt to emigrate. Description of a tramping watch and clock cleaner, who gave the name of G. BREEZE, supposed fictitious, charged with larceny as a bailee : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 ins. high, dark eyes, dark complexion, freckled face, dark brown hair, whiskers and moustache, rather light and thin, one finger crooked ( supposed third finger on left hand); dressed in a black cloth coat, grey mixed cloth trousers, and black hard felt hat; carries a black leather bag with clasp. He is between 30 and 35 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather slight, fair complexion, light hair, light brown whiskers, aval face, light moustache, very light eyes and eyelashes ; dressed in rough hairy cap, with ear laps, dark jacket, broken at the elbows, dark grey double- breasted vest, brown striped trousers, and elastic- side boots, with buttons up the front ; is a native of Devon or Cornwall, and has worked on the Ogmore and Cardiff New Railway. French Watch, no glass ; a gentle- man's gilt Boston Watch, cream coloured dial; a gentleman's German silver Watch, crystal glass, ' Railway Timekeeper ' on dial; two ladies' silver Geneva Watches, with black letters on silver dials; between two and three dozen Ear- rings, marked ' 9 c.', some of them with the centre stone out ; and a few Brooches, with crystals. FREDERICK BARTON, about 18 years of age, about 5 feet 3 inches high, fair com- plexion, light hair, blue eyes, has a sear over right eye and the eyebrow cut off, and is knock- kneed. Information to be given to Inspector Warren, Henley- in- Arden, Warwick- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 9n Description of a young man who absconded from Ashton- under- Lyne on the 5th instant, stealing five Sovereigns and five half Sovereigns, the property of his master, Robert Fielding, master chimney sweep with whom lie lodged : about 19 years of age, 5 feet or 5 feet 1 inch, high, light hair, swarthy complexion, and slender make.; dressed in a woollen cord sleeved vest with moleskin back and sleeves, woollen cord trousers and vest, clogs with' Wellington tops, and hard black felt hat; he said his mother was in America, and it is supposed that he will endeavour to emigrate. Stolen at 7 a. m. on the 31st ultimo, from a blacksmith's shop at Albrighton : two Shoeing Knives, one Rasp, one Hammer, and one pair of Pincers ; the property of Richard Gough, By a man about 50 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, with grey whiskers, and dressed in dark clothes. Informa- tion to be given to Sergeant Davies, - Meole, Brace, Salop.— — Bow- street^ February 7. Absconded on the 19th ultimo, from No. 85, Kennington Park- road, embezzling £ 7 10s. : a man, 28 years of age, 5 feet 8 § ' inches- high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, and slight whiskers ; dressed in dark mixture suit, and felt bat.— Metropolitan Police, P DivisionFebruary 7. Absconded from Brill, on the 29 th. ultimo, charged with, stealing a silver hunting Watch, maker Fairbanks London, No. 1794 : JOHN WOOTTEN, late an engine driver on the Wottsn tramway, 39 years of age,' 5 " feet 6 inches high," dark brown hair, bald on top of head, moustache, and beard ; dressed in a dark pilot cloth jacket, black cloth, vest and trousers, all very greasy and dirty, dark cloth cap, with peak of same material, and elastic- side boots, was wearing the watch, and had a long silver Guard attached. Information to be given to Inspector Chaplin, Police Station, Brill, Bucks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 7. Description of GEORGE YOUNG, charged with steal- ing a Horse and Cart from Redhiil, on the 29th. ultimo, since recovered : from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, and dark complexion ; dressed in dark grey coat, trousers ( fitting tight to his legs) and vest, round felt hat, and small dark whiskers ; a native of Epsom, but late of Dorking ; has 2 sisters residing at Epsom. Information to be given to Head Constable Rogers, Redhill, Surrey, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— BovJ- street, February 7. Absconded on the 31st ult,, from West Camel, charged with stealing a drab cloth Coat, a. pair of dark Trousers, and a black Vest: EDWD. AINSWORTH, described in the Police Gazette of 26th and 31st ultimo as a deserter from Her Majesty's Horse Artillery. He took train from Marston Station for Bristol, and had previously stated he should go to Wales; he had on his regimentals when leaving Marston, but is probably wearing the stolen clothes, which are much too small for him; he was accompanied by a young woHPn. rather short, fresh complexion, full face, and much pockpitted, Information to be given to Superintendent Drewett, Somerset Constabulary, Somerton.— Bow- street, February 7. Absconded from the Working Boy's Home, in the city of Hereford, on the 18th ultimo, charged with stealing a pair of black cord Trousers, cord Yest, with sleeves, striped - Shirt, marked ' W. B. Home,' green Scarf, and Scotch Cap : a boy, 12 years of age, 4 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair, and very dark eyes, has an impediment in his speech ; he is wearing the above things, and is likely to be found at Railway Stations, carrying parcels for passengers. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Hereford. — Bow- street, February 4. Description of a. youlh named GEORGE CRADDOCK, a clerk, who has absconded from Northampton, charged with stealing a Cheque for £ 23 17s. 6d. and £ 2 9s. 6d. in Gold and Silver ; the property of his employer, Henry Mulliner, coach builder, Northampton, on the 31st ultimo : he is about 18 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers or moustache, and dark brown hair ; dressed in a black billycock hat, dark cloth jacket, vest, and trousers, and long dark overcoat. Is fond of being in the company of betting men and prostitutes. The cheque was tendered at the Northampton Union Bank on the 2nd inst. and detained, the person who tendered it making his escape. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, Northampton., who holds a warrant for his apprehension.-— Bow- street, Feb, 4, Description of CHARLES COLLINS, a surgeon's assistant-, charged with embezzlement : about 25 years of age ( looks older), short and stout, dark complexion and hair, generally dressed in a black cloth suit; of gentlemanly address. Is well known at the West End of London and at Chelsea, and is likely to seek employment at some surgery. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Noakes, Police Station, Ashford, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprahension.— — Bow- street, February 4, Stolen on the 26th ultimo, from a back bed- room, at No. 26, Devonshire- place, Eastbourne : a silver English lever hunting Watch, engine- turned case, bas ' G. R.' engraved in centre of outer case, capped and jewelled in two holes, maker Edward Winder, Eastbourne, No. 84240, had an imitation gold albert Chain attached ; a lady's gold half - hunting Geneva Watch", No. 12.4523 inside of case, and ' A. 72' maiked inside of dome, had an imitation gold Chain attached, with a small whistle and other trinkets at the end. Supposed by a man about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, dark complexion, fall face, brown hair and whiskers, and rather stout figure ; dressed in a long dark cloth paletdt overcoat, billyed& t hat,' and okl boots, much worn at heel& Information to be given to Superintendent Newnham, East- bourne,. The other about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches higb, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, his left ear drops down ; dressed in a dark drab ordinary suit, dark solf billy- cock hat, bad a white canvas working suit with him. They carried a rush basket, containing . machinist's tools; they were traced to Combe Gate, near Salisbury, on the 7th inst., and were seen driving a dark brown mare pony, about, 13 hands 2 inches high, aged, very frisky in stable, a small pony trap, painted green, with white stripes, front board taken off, brass mounted harness, with a new kicking strap. A young woman about 20 years of age, dark hair and eyes, passed as the younger ones wife, she holds a pedlar's certificate in the name of Leviathan Hughes, which was taken out at Wanstead Flats, Essex ; letters have been directed to them in. the names of HOLMS and R.
