Notice.— It is requested that all communications tor the purpose of obtaining or giving infermation respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may he made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and a worn to before a Ma gistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Adrertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Tha Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS FORGERY. Description of WILLIAM LEEK, who is charged on a warrant with forging Bills of Exchange to the value of £ 75, at Harrogate, on the 15th and 25th November last, and who absconded from Harrogate, on the 10th instant: 32 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark complexion, sup- posed grey eyes, long wavey black hair, slightly streaked with grey, thiu black whiskers, moustache, audi beard, a whitesmith, last resided at Harrogate, of imperfect education, long face, high cheek bones, rouud shouldered, and walks with his head hanging down ; dressed in black serge cloth coat, with two pockets outside, fancy cloth double- breasted vest, black ground with purple diamond spots, chocolate or shaded brown trousers, black silk necktie, soft black billy- cock liat, and lace- up boots. He frequents theatres, music halls, negro entertainments, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Carr, North Riding Constabulaiy, Knares- borough.— Bow- street, January 21. ROBBERY ANS LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person : a silver lever Watch, sunk seconds, gold hinges, chronometer balance, No. 6076, maker Wheeler, Preston. Information to be given to Head Con- stable Oglethorpe, Borough Police Station, Preston, Lan- cashire.— Sow- street, January 21. Stolen, on the 10th instant, from the person of a gentle- man ia Manchester : a gold keyless open- face Watch, 16- size, double roller, centre seconds, chronometer balance, brequet pendulum spring, jewelled throughout, case has engraved on the back a wreath of laurels with monogram ' J. D.' enclosed, maker ' Karl Zimmerman, Liverpool,' on upper plate. A reward of £ 10 will be paid by the owner upon the apprehen- sion and conviction of the thief or thieves and recovery of the waicb. Information to be given at the Detective Office, Oheapside, Manchester, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 21. Stolen from the person of Mrs. Hannah Allman, in Weston New road, near Crewe, about 12 45 p. m. on the 12th instant: a puce leather Purst, containing a Half- sovereign. ' By a youth about 18 years of age, about 5 feet high, very pale face, blender build, and a little light whiskers ; dressed in a faded brown cloth coat, heavy boots, and ragged cap. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Saxton, Nantwicb, or to Inspector Morris, Crewe, Cheshire.— Bow- street, Jan. 14. Stolea from the person of John Downes, Hednesford, about 9.30 p. m. on the 8th instant: a double cased silver lever Watch, No. 2129, engine- turned case, white dial, gold hands, second hand, with steel Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brown- hills, near Walsall, or to Police Constable Cockerell, Police Station, Hednesford, near Stafford.- Bow- street, January 14. During 10 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 13th instant, the college of Thomas Spragg, at Thrawley, in the county of Worcester, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a black cloth Jacket ; a black cloth Waistcoat; a pair of brown cloth Trousers, with a dark stripe down the outside seam ; a pair of white moleskin Trousers ; a silk pocket Handkerchief ; two coloured calico Shirts ; an old silver Watch ; and 9s. 6d. in Silver Money. Supposed by two tramps, from 20 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout made ; one wearing a dark jacket and cloth cap, the other had on a billycock hat. They are supposed to be making for Staffordshire. Information to be given to Superintendent raby, Great Witley, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, January 17. Stolen by means of housebreaking between the 6th and 10th instant, at Smiddy Shaw, Muggleswick : a double- barrel breech- loading Gun, central fire, No. 12 gauge, walnut stock, is nearly new, maker H.. Holland, Bond- street, London. Information to be given to Superintendent Oliver, Consett Police Station, Durham.— Bow- street, January 17. On the 16th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Skidmore, Dartmouth- street, West Bromwich, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 1 blue pilot Overcoat, with velvet collar, pockets on hips, a ticket pocket on right breast, and one inside left breast, and lined with black satin. 1 boy's Jacket, dark tweed, with pocket on hips, maker's name ' Samuels,' on the strap. 1 worsted Jacket, quite new, with black bone buttons. 2 cotton Antimacassars, one of them with the figure of Elijah fed by ravens. 1 white Tablecloth. 2 pairs of men's lace- up Boots. 1 pair of men's elastic- side Boots. 1 pair of women's elastic- side Boots. 1 box of Cigars. 1 black and white mat Baskets 1 piece of Beef, about 15 lbs. weight. 3 lbs. of Sausage. 4 lbs. of Cheese. 4 lbs. of Bacon and a quantity of Grocery in a paper parcel. : Information to be given to Superintendent Woollaston, West j Bromwich, or to Sergeant Smith, Greets Green, West Brom- wiob, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 17. Description of THOMAS ROSCOE, alias VICKERS, a native of Bolton, charged with burglariously entering a dwelling- house at Halifax, and stealing therein 7 lbs. of j Tobacco and 3s. in Money : 36 years of age, 4 feet llf inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, partially bald, grey eyes, pock pitted, wart on back, and blue cut mark on left ' eyebrow ; dressed in a black cloth coat, drab woollen cord ! trousers, lace- up boots, and black billycock hat; he is a returned convict, and was discharged from Chatham Piison on the 22nd December, 1874. Information to be given to Chief Constable Clarkson, Town Hall, Halifax, Yorkshire, 1 who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow stieet, January 14. During the night of the 11th instant, the sWe- room of Messrs. Whitehouse, Brothers, edge- tool makers, Bridge Town, Cannock, was entered by breaking the lock oft' the door : the drawers were ransacked, and a few auger Bits stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford.— Bow- street, January 14. Between 6 and 9 p. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of James Elliott, of Hartley Wespali, Hants, was broken and entered and stolen therein: an old- fashioned open- face silver Watch, dial cracked at figure 12, and ' J. E.' scratched on back, silver Albert Guard, with broken Key and Seal ( end missing) ; and a silver open- face Watch, maker ' Honeybone, Brentford,' no glass, long black silk ribbon Guard, gold Key and Seal attached. Information to be given to Inspector Benson, Hants Constabulary, Basingstoke.— Bow- street, January 14. burglary AND MOUSE BREAKING* Between 6 a. m. and 5 p. m. on the 17th instant, the house of Thomas Taylor, of Burntwood, was forcibly entered and stolea therein: one brown Overcoat with velvet collar, pockets on hips, ticket pocket on left side and one inside breast pocket; two black cloth Jackets, one loose, the other flap pattern'; one black Yest; one black Sammy Hat; one silver watch Chain with swivel, broken ; one pair of elastic- side Boots ; one red and yellow woollen Muffler ; one pair of pepper- und- salt Trousers ; one of pair of lace- up Boots ; and £ 3 10s. The thieves left behind a pair of grey cloth trou- sers, dark vest, pair of lace- up boots with hole cut in back of heel, pair of old elastic side boots with holes in the uppers, old black Sammy hat, pair of woollen socks, and a blue tweed coat with \ lb. of bacon in the pocket. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire,-— Bow- street, January 19. HOESE AID OAX'TLJE STEALING. Stolen during the night of the 14th instant, from a r. table in Hey wood- street, Manchester : a bright brown Mare, rising 7 years old, 14 hands high, two white spots on back, white star on forehead, one hind foot white, and was was partly clipped. By a youth, 15 years of age, short and stout, pale- looking, dark brown hair, and dark eyes ; dressed in a black velvet jacket, sleeved cord vest, dark trousers, woven woollen cap with knot on top, and clogs; stated he came from Liver- pool. A reward of £ 5 will be paid by the owner upon his conviction and recovery of the mare. Information to be given at the Detective Office, Cheapside, Manchester, Lanca- shire.— Brno- street, January 21. Description of ISAAC CASS, charged with stealing a Horse, the property of Thomas Olo Renshaw, on the 14th inst.: 41 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light brown hair, is a groom, or horse dealer, and has been convicted of horse stealing at Hull and Sheffield. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 21. Supposed to have been stolen, on the night of the 30th ultimo, from a field near Aberdare : a bay entire Pony, 3 years old, about 12£ hands high, black mane, tail and legs, white star on forehead and small white streak on upper lip, rough coat, and has never been shod or haltered ; the property. of Mr. D. Richards, solicitor, Aberdare. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Thomas, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, January 19. Stolen between the 2nd and 4th instant, from a field at hathen Green Farm, Stanstead, Kent : a Hampshire Down Ewe, in lamb, rose out, supposed to have pitch mark ' R.' ( in a circle) on left hip. Stolen from Boreatton Park, on the night of the 5th instant: a yearling Ewe, in lamb, marked ' H.' on left side, Shropshire Down breed. Also stolen from a field at Stanwardine, sear Baschurcb, on the night of the 10th instant: two ewe Sheep, in lamb, marked ' R. H.' on left side, Shropshire Down breed, the property of Mr. R Hiles, of Stanwardine Park, near Baschurch. Information to be given to Superintendent Gough, Oswestry, or to P. C. Lyndon, Baschurch, Salop.— Bow- street, Jan. 14. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Little Wenlock, on the 6th instant : a dark bay Mare, 5 years old, about 16 hands high, and suffers from pole evil, the property of Mr. William Bullock, of Wellington ; and h, small dark iron- grey mare Colt, between 1 and 2years old}' the property of Mr. Thomas Matthews, of Little Wenlock. Stolen on the 17th instant, from the vicarage | House, Kimble, near Aylesbury : a pair of side- spring Boots, tips on heels, and in good repair. By a tramp, who states he is a lithographer, 22 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair, cut short; dressed in dirty old dark- coloured clothes, and billycock hat, high in crown ; he is wearing the stolen boots. Information te be given to Superintendent Denson, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- street, January 21. Description of AARON PETCH, coal agent, who absconded on the 18th instant, charged with embezzling various moneys of Messrs. Jenkin and Watt: he is 33 years of age, about 5 feet 11 in- jl. es high, sandy whiskers and moustache, dark hair, fresh comphxion, round shouldered, is a bad walker, anJ lias big feet : dressed in a blue pilot overcoat and black bowler hat; is a native of Bury Saint Edmunds, and was in the. 91th Regt. several years. Stolen on the 17th instant, from a Coach house at Great Kimble Vicarage : a pair of side- spring Boots ( man's size), aud tips on heels. By a tramp about 25 years of age, 5 ft. 4 or 5 inches high, and dark hair and moustache ; dressed in dirty dark coloured old clothing, and black hard felt hat. Absconded on the 20th instant, from Wrexham, charged with stealing a blue monkey Jacket, blue and black flannel lining, pockets on either side, and one inside of left breast ; a brown twilled Umbrella, with a tin ferrule on the handle ; a pair of elastic- side Boots, buttons on front, man's size : a j man, 22 or 23 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, sandy : hair, blue eyes, moustache, sallow complexion; dressed in a, black frock coat, blrck velvet vest, and dark tweed trousers, ! may be wearing the stolen property, especially the boots, a.- i ! his old ones were left behind ; stated that he has been to sea, and is a native of Ruceorn. Drscriptiou of JOHN BRYAN, Jnnr., a clerk, charged at Hanley with embezzling the sum of £ 35, the monies of Earl Granville : he ia 24 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair sanguine complexion, grey eyes, rather small, brown hair, little bald ou crown of head, light brown moustache, smart dappei appearance, and rather consequential walk ; he j has friends at Ashton under- Lyne, Lancashire, and at Stoke, Staffordshire ; dressed in a suit of dark clothes, grey over- coat, and hard felt hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Wiudle, Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Jan. 19. Description of a man charged at Selby with stealing a superfine black cloth Jacket and vest, and' a pair of black doeskin Trousers, on the 12th instant: he is an umbrella mender, from 25 to 30 years of age, 6 feet 3 or 4 inches high, no whiskers, has lost index finger of right hand, cut marks ( supposed) on right side of neck, is a comic singer, and frequents public- houses ; dressed in a white smock, black trousers, and black billycock hat.
