INFORMATIONS. FORGERY. Description of JOHN KING, charged on a warrant with forging and uttering the acceptance to a Bill of Exchange : he is 62 years of age, 6 feet or 6 feet 2 inches high, grey hair, broad forehead, full face, broad shoulders, and stoops ; generally wears a broad brim hat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, January 5. trousers, lace- up boots, and black billycock hat; be is a returned convict, and was discharged from Chatham Prison on the 22nd December, 1874. Information to be given to Chief Constable Clarkson, Town Hall, Halifax, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 14. During the night of the 11th instant, the stere- room of Messrs. Whitehouse, Brothers, edge- tool makers, Bridge Town, Cannock, was entered by breaking the lock off the door : the drawers were ransacked, and a few auger Bits stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford.— Bow- street, January 14. Between 6 and 9 p. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of James Elliott, of Hartley Wespall, Hants, was broken and entered and stolen therein: an old fashioned open- face silver Watch, dial cracked at figure 12, and ' J. E.' scratched on back, silver Albert Guard, with broken Key and Seal ( end missing) ; and a silver open- face Watch, maker ' Honeybone, Breutford,' no glass, long black silk ribbon Guard, gold Key and Seal attached. Information to be given to Inspector Brinson, Hants Constabulary, Basingstoke.— Bow- street, January 14. Between 11 p. m. 5th and 6 a. m. on the 6th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. William Hankinson, Goldthorn- hill, Upper Penn, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a black Moscow beaver Chesttrfield Greatcoat, velvet collar, double- breasted, plain buttons, lined with black Italian cloth, and the name ' E. J. Phillips, 3. Queen- street, Wolverhamp- ton ' on the suspender ; a boy's ditto, similar description and make ; two pairs of green Gloves, one pair lined with blue ; a pair of boy's green calfskin Gloves ; a pair of brown cloth Gloves, lined with wash leather; and a small Box, con- taining Half a Crown and a Shilling, dated 1875. Information to be given to Inspector Tomlinson, Sedgley, or to Police Constable Wright, Upper Penn, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 10. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Mrs. Hannah Allman, in Weston New Road, near Crewe, about 12 45 p. m. on the 12th instant: a puce leather Purse, containing a Half- sovereign. By a youth about 18 years of age, about 5 feet high, very pale face, slender build, and a little light whiskers ; dressed in a faded brown cloth coat, heavy boots, and ragged cap. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Saxton, Nantwich, or to Inspector Morris, Crewe, Cheshire.— Bow- street, Jan. 14, Stolen from the person of John Downes, Hednesford, : ibout 9.30 p. m. on the 8th instant: a double cased silver lever Watch, No. 2129, engine- turned case, white dial, gold bands, second hand, with steel Chain attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brown- hills, near Walsall, or to Police Constable Cockerell, Police Station, Hednesford, near Stafford.— Bow- street, January 14 Stolen from different persons at the Railway Stations in Bolton during the Fair, on the 1st and 2nd instant : 1 silver lever Watch, No. 10,888, with sunk seconds and dial. 1 ditto Watch, 11,679, maker ' Joseph Harris,' plain dial, large figures, and sunk seconds. Stolen from Boreatton Park, on the night of the 5th instant: a yearling Ewe, in lamb, marked ' H.' on left side, Shropshire Down breed. Also stolen from a field at Stanwardine, near Baschurch, on the night of the 10th instant: two ewe Sheep, in lamb, marked ' R H.' on left side, Shropshire Down breed, the property of Mr. R. Supposed to have been stolen, from a field at Little Wenlock, on the 6th instant : a dark bay Mare, 5 years old, about 16 hands high, and suffers from pole evil, the property of Mr. William Bullock, of Wellington ; and a small dark iron- grey mare Colt, between 1 and 2 years old; the property of Mr. Thomas Matthews, of Little Wenlock. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Turner, Iron Bridge, Salop. — Bour- strect, January 14. Charged with stealing a Horse, recovered, from Fradley Junction, near Lichfield, on the night of the 2nd instant. A boat woman, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, light complexion, pale face, blue mark across the nose; dressed in an old dark shawl and dress ; after she had sold the horse at Kingshill, Wednesbury, she purchased a new lilac- coloured hood ( bonnet), a thick hair net, a pair of grey stockings, and a pair of plain elastic side boots, which she is now supposed to be wearing. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 12. Stolen from Essington, about the 10th ultimo : a black horse Colt, rising 2 years old, 14 bands high, white star on face, small scars on nose and under the near eye, and in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Llow- street, Jan 10. Stolen from Kerry- hill on the 25th November last : a black mare Donkey, 6 years old, white muzzle, off hind fet- lock joint crooked outwards, and hair rubbed off the fore legs by wearing fetters. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Newtown, or to Police Constable Tanner, Kerry, Montgomeryshire.— Bow street, January 10. Stolen from a field at Netley Bank, Salop, during the night of the 30th ultimo : a light bay gelding Cib, about 14 hands high, white blaze down the face, switch tail, and rising 3 years old. Information to be given to Chief Super- intendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Merricks, Oaken Gates, Salop.— Bow- street, January 7. Stolen at Chasetown, on the night of the 29th ultimo : a chestnut Mare, aged, 14 hands high, kick maik on near hiud quarter. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire. - Bow- street, Jan. 7. Stolen from a field at Slaithwaite during the night of the 27tli ultimo : a grey cart Filly, rising 2 years old, about 13i hands high, long mant and tail, very full bone aud large head. A reward of £ 5 will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead tj the recovery of the Filly and conviction of the offender or offenders. Description of a man charged at Guisbro', with stealing from Lingdale- lane, on the 11th instant, a blue pilot cloth Topcoat, lined with scarlet and black plaid, two pockets out- side and one inside left breast, black velvet collar, marked on collar ' Fairweather, Guisbro'a blue cloth shooting Coat, lined with black serge, black velvet collar, bound with black braid, two pockets outside and one inside left breast; a blue cloth Yeat ; and a gold Albert Guard and Seal: he is 30 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, small light moustache^ and stout build ; dressed in dark shooting coat, daik vest and trousers, low shoes, and low stiff hat, marked with paint; he is a painter, and stated he was a native of Morpeth ; he is sup- posed to be well known in Sunderland and Newcastle- on- Tyne, at one of which towns his wife is supposed to ba living, and where it is supposed he may have gone. Absconded from Hednesford on the 4th instant, charged with larceny as a bailee : JOHN McLOUD, a miner, 2S yrs. of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, slender build, thin features, bald on forehead, dark curly hair, dark complexion, eyes, whiskers and moustache, bow legged, very talkative, and speaks with strong Scotch accent. He is supposed to be wearing the stolen clothes— black and violet plaid cloth Coat with pocket on each side and one inside left breast, and two brown bone buttons behind ; double- breasted Yest and Trousers, with fly fronts of same material; black and white plaid Shirt; green satin Necktie; black soft billycock Hat; drab Stock- ings, and strong lace- up Boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Police Station, Brownhills, near Wall- sail, or to Police Constable Cockerell, Police Station, Hednes- ford, near Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, January 14. Description of GEORGE MILLER, of Tingowick, Bucks, who absconded on the 31st ultimo, charged with larceny : he is a carpenter, 30 years of age, 6 feet high, light- brown hair and whiskers; dressed in a short corduroy jacket and trousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Inspector Andrews, Maidsmoreton, Buckingham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Boiz iiresl, January 14. Absconded on the 10th instant, from 22. Broad- street, St. Giles's, stealing £ 4 3s. 6d. : a man, 24 years of a je, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair hair and complexion, aud has three moles right side of neck ; dressed in blue walking coat, brown trousers, felt hat, and heavy lace boots. Supposed gone to Bath, of which town he is a native.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, January 14. 7 Absconded on the 9th instant from West Hartlepool, charged with embezzling about £ 700, the Monies of Messrs. Groves, Maclean aud Co., sbipbrokers and timber merchants - NICHOLAS AUGUST DANIELSON, a clerk, 23 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale complexion, grey eyes, black hair, moustache and whiskers meeting under the chin, slender, long and thin nose, is a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, and has been is. England five years ; dressed in rough black cloth overcoat, black coat, vest and trousers, soft black billycock hat. He carried a black satchel, and has probably gone to London intending to go abroad. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Mariey, West Hartlepool, Durham.— Bou- st. Jan. 14. Stolen, supposed by tramps, during the night of the 6th instant, from a cowshed on the farm premises of Mr. Richard Pell, at Plungar : a brown fustian Jacket, lined with red and white woollen check, has two pockets outside and one inside, in the pocket was an old red and whire cotton Pocket- handkerchief. Absconded on the Cth instant, from Webber- row, Blackfriars- road, embezzling £ 150 : a man, 50 years of sge, 5 feet Gi inches high, stout, sallow complexion, fair hair, heavy moustache, full face, grey eyes, and speaks with an American accent ; dressed in a blue reeling j jeket, black cloth trousers, side- spring boots, and black billycock hat.— Jtictro- politan I'olice, L Division, January 12. Absconded cn the Sth instant, from 103, Great Titchfield- street, stealing a sealskin Jacket, trimmed with skonk : a woman, 40 year s of age. 5 feet 1 inch high, sallow complexion, and of respectable appearance.— Metropolitan Folice, E Division, January 12. Charged on a warrant with stealing 4 pairs of Boot?, the property of Louis Woolf, on the 20th ultimo: JAMES CROWN, 37 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout, high forehead, long nose, dark brown hair aird whiskers, and of dirty appearance. He is a shoemaker and a native of Ireland, and well known in Sheffield. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull, Yorkshire.— Box- street, January 12. Charged on a warrant w ith embezzlement: JAMES HENRY COOLEY, about 2J years of age, nearly C feet hiu'h, very thin build, weak in the knees, red hair, cut she*-, red whiskers round the face, and red moustache ; dressed ir. grey shooting coa>, black cloth trousers, green brown ove:- coat, and a very long gold watch guard, with seslatUchec. Charged at Chester with obtaining goods by a trick ( amounting to larceny), on the 10th instant: a man, about 63 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, light complexion, grey hair and beard, feeble- looking, Blender build, long thumb ou left hand, little fiuger of same hand contracted, and small scars on forehead ; he wears a thick muftler, a cap which turns down over his ears, dark clothes, and spectacles; he has been convicted at St. Helens. He orders goods to be sent to his lodgings, aud mauagea to get them ftom. the porter or shopmau, aud then leaves the house. The goods obtained at Chester were : six pairs Hose, six woollen Shawls, 14 yards of blue Merino, 14 yaAr, sf navy blue ditto, and 14 yards of black ditto. Stolen from a bed- room at the Dudley Arms Hotel, Dudley, between 3 and 7 a. m. on the Stb iastant : a gold lever Watcb, open- face, long hand bent, a gold Guard attached, with long links, dropper with a blood stone ou one side, and pink stone on tha other side ; a silver Geneva Watch, old roman figures ou face, small hand broken, ' Stuart' scratched on rim on inside case, had attached an aluminum albert Guard, snake pattern ; a gold signet Ring, oval shape, set with a blood stone; a small pocket Knife, engraved on handle ' W. Stuart'; and a quantity of gentleman's wearing Apparel, since recovered. By a mau, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, slight make, dark hair, out short, slight dark moustacne and whiskers, sallow complexion, small sharp features, has lost hia two eye- teeth, has two scars on forehead, speaks thickly, aiid is of good address; diessed in a dark grey waterproof overcoat, dark cloth trousers, white muffler, and black deerstalker hat : he represents himself to be a commercial traveller. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving spch information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the property. Stolen from a common lodging- house at Market Har- borough, on the 6th instant: a pair of men's Trousers, brown with white stiipes across about i- inck apart; two white calico Shirts, one clean, the other dirty, both marked in corner with red cotton ' John Wm. Rands;' a check cotton Scarf ; two calico Sheets, not much worn ; 4 yards of new Calico, and one leg of a pair of women's drawers as a pattern ; six dozen of Bmall black glass Buttons; 3 yards of new Ribbon, black and green ; 3 yards of ditto, viclet and black ; three white Falls, with black spots; a blue Fall; and several bits of narrow silk Velvet, of different colour?. By a woman who had be>- n stopping there since the 22nd November last : about 50 years of age, medium height, thin make, very sallow complexion) very thin face; dark hair, speaks fluently and well, has a very plausible manner, is very quick and active in her movements, and is fond of talking of having seen better days ; Bhe carries with her a small pasteboard box ; dressed in black shawl, old brown gown, and dark bonnet. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Holloway, Constabulary Station, Market Harborough, Leicestershire. — Boio- street, January 10. Absconded on the 3rd instant, from Queen's Gardens, Bayswater, stealing £ 80 : a man, 56 years of age, 6 ft. 1 inch high, fair complexion, grey hair, whiskers and moustache ; dressed in black frock coat, grey mixture trousers, and high black hat; of military appearance.— Metropolitan Police, X Division, January 7. Absconded from Long Sutton on the 29th ultimo : THOMAS SMITH, alias WILLIAM FLETCHER car- penter, supposed a native of Standground, near Peterboro', charged with stealing Carpenters' Tools ( recovered); about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, of Bickly appear- ance, tattooed on both arms, light brown hair, and sandy whiskera; dressed in old light jacket, old light- coloured trousers with stripes down the sides, soft black bdlycock bat, wears an old pair of Wellington boot tops under his trousers as leggings. He is accompanied by a womau much older than himself, her hair quite grey, slightly pockmarked, tall and thin ; wears a brown dress, velvet jacket, and black straw hat. They are both addicted to drink, and likely to be found in low beer- houses. Supposed to be well- known in Sheffield. Information to be given to Sergeant Biggadike, Police Station, Long Sutton, Wisbeach, Lincolnshire, who holds a warrant for the man's apprehension.— Bow street, January 7. FRANCIS WILMOT, advertised in the Police Gazette of the 8th ultimo, charged with stealing 40 elm Boards, was on bail till the Quarter Sessions, held at Devizes, on the 4th instant, but failed to appear. A bench warrant is issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretten, Wilts Constabulary, Marlborough. — Bow- street, January 7. issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable, Constabulary Office, Litchurch, Derbyshire.— Bow- street, January 14. Description of THOMAS PONTER, charged with abduction, and bailed for trial, who absconded and failed to surrender to take his trial at the Assizes, at Worcester, on the 2nth ultimo : he is 43 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, bald on top of head, scar ou forehead; he is a small hand- visa make, and a native of Dudley ; he is supposed to be travelling as a musician, and playing at low beer- houses. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Burton, Borough Police Office, Dudley, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 12. Description of JOHN HENRY COATES, charged 1 under warraut at Bradford, with obtaining Money by false pretences : he is a convict license holder, and has failed to report himself, 35 years of age, 5 feet 5j inches high, fretell complexion, b'ne eyes, brown hair, a weaver ( but never works) and native of Pudsey, good education, nearly blind left rye, ruptured right side, wears false teeth, no whiskers, but carries false moustache and whiskers with him ; dressed in black cloth coat, striped clptli truusera, vety.
