Kotice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may bo made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, all JLetters addressed to the Editor must lie prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded on War Office Forms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. muedee and maliciously wounding On the 5th instant, about 4 p. m., the dead body of a jiewly born male infant was found on the ice in a pool, by the road side, at llartlebury. At the coroner's inquest, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person unknown' was returned. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, • Great Witley, or to Sergeant Ganderton, Stourport, Worces- tershire.— Bow- street, December 10. On the 18th ultimo the body of a newly- born female Child was found in the large reservoir in the Corporation- park, Blackburn, where it is supposed to have been about seven days. At the coronor's inquest a verdict of ' Wilful Murder against some person unknown' was returned. The body of the child was wrapped in an old worn- out calico • chemise, with needle- work edging on the top, and a small piece of worn- out drugget of small pattern. Iler Majesty's Government will give a reward of .£ 50 to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or muiderers, and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed tho murder, who shall give such evidence as will lead to a like result. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Borough Police, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, December 1. burglary AID SOUSE BREAKING, • Between 6 30 and 8 30 p. m. on the 5th instant, the dwellicg- liouse of Mr. William Bachlor, Saint Loyes- street, Bedford, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and stolen therein :- twelve silver tea Spoons, marked ' B.' in ^ old English; six electro- elated desert Spoons; two Apostle Spocns, gilded ; four gold Pins ; a gold Brooch ; and about £ 3 in Money. Supposed by a maa about 5 feei 7 inches high ; dressed in a dark brown coat, dark trousers, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Verey, Borough Police Office, Bedford.— Bow- street, Dec. 8. On the 5th instant, a shop in Kidderminster, was broken and entered, and about £ 8 in Gold and Silver Monies stolen therein; also five pairs of hobnailed Boots, of various Bizes, tipped on heels, and ' J. By two tramps : one, 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, dark complexion, long dark hair, and darki'moustache ; stated he had been a fireman in a steamboat: the other, 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy hair, little or no whiskers, and appeared to be a bricklayer's labourer. Both the men are wearing a part of the stolen property, as they left their old clothes behind them in a field near Hart- burn, on the Darlington- road. Found at Darlaston, on the 19th ult., supposed stolen : a bay filly Pony, 13 hands high, rising 2 years old, no shoes, in good condition, has black legs, long maue and tail, and a small white spot on off side. Information to he given to Sergeant Breton, Darlaston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, De- cember 10. Found in a meadow at Uffington about a month ago and supposed to have been stolen : a two- year old light roan Heifer with a black muzzle. Stolen from the Guild Farm, Sutton, on the 25th ultimo : a red Cow in milk, 3 years old, with little hair on tail. Stolen from a field at Gilesgate Moor, Durham, on the 14th ultimo : a bay Mare, Cleveland breed, aged, about 16 hands high, one of her hind legs thicker than the other, and broken winded. Supposed in the neighbourhood of Guildford or Godalming.— Metropolitan Police, V Division, December 10. Absconded from Bath, stealing a Skirt ; a pair of Trou- sers ; a cloth Jacket; and a Concertina ( recovered): a woman, about 40 years of age, short and thin, long thin pale tape, dark eyes, black hair, worn in a net; dressed in an old bfewn dress, shepherd's plaid shawl, black bonnet, trimmed with white ribbon or white flower, and black lace in front ; she is a hawker, aud travels Wilts, Bristol, and Somerset, with boy's caps aud cabbage nets, and carries a square basket with two covers. Description of two men ' charged with stealing, on the 16th ultimo, at Burbage Wharf, a quantity of Elm Boards, the property of Messrs. Bobbins, Lane, and Pinninger: JOHN GOUGE, alias FRANCIS ATKINS, bargeman, 29 years of age, 5 feet G or 7 inches high, dark brown hair, little dark whiskers, and rather large mouth ; dressed in a white slop and cap; and RICHARD HUMPHRIES, alias GEORGE WEST, bargeman, 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, dark brown hair, and heard ( meets under the CIUD) turning frey ; dressed in an old dark cloth pilot jacket and fur cap. nformation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Stretton, Marlborough, Wilts, who holds warrants for their apprehen- sion.— Dow- street, December 10. Stolen between the Gth and 7th instant, from a house in Northallerton : a workman's Basket, containing one plas- terer's Trowel, one bricklayer's Trowel, one guaging Trowel, two lath Hammers, six Pointers, four Frenchmen, one Hand Float, one Mitering Brush, and some Mitering Tools. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Walmsley, North Riding Constabulary, Northalleiton. — Bow- street, Dtcember 10. Description of ROBERT ROBINSON, alias JAMES WILLIAMSON, charged with stealing two Umbrellas, the property of Wm. Foster, of Barton, North Riding of York- shire : about 49 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair and whiskers, proportionate figure ; dressed when last seen at Darlington, Durham, in drab suit, similar to quarrymen's ; he has been iu the army, frequents fairs and cattle markets, is often employed as a drover, aud is of drunken habits. Information to be given to Superintendent Gregory, Richmond, or to Inspector Howes, Scorton, Cattarick, North Biding of Yorkshire.— Bow- street, Decembir 10. Stolen on the evening of the 3rd instant, from the ' Green Man' hotel, Ashbourne: a single- barrelled Gun, muzzle loader ; two pairs of white leather tlunting Breeches; a double- reined Bridle, with Bits attached ; two Gig Whips, one with black stock. By a man, who engaged a bed at the hotel for the night, he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light complexion, and bad the appearance of a groom ; dressed in grey clothes, • Mid woro a large ring. Two guineas reward will be paid by the Ellastone Association for the prosecution of felons, to any person who shall give such information as will lead ta the conviction of the offender. Description of JOHN HENRY PAYNE, of Gloucester, charged with stealiDg on the 27th ultimo from the ship ' Star of Hope' at Shoreham, a Scotch Cap, the property of Hiram Cooper; also a brown cloth Vest and Sou.'- wester, the property of Charles Peacock. He is about 20 years of age, 5 feet t> inches high, dark hair and eyes, no whiskers, sallow complexion, and Roman nose, which lias a scar on it; dressed in dark pepper- and- salt jacket and trousers, light pepper- and- salt vest, black alpine hat, and new side- spring boots. He hail been a seaman on board the above ship about five weeks. Had in his possession a duck Bag, containing the stolen Articles, a new suit of Clothes ; a number of £ 5 and £ 10 Notes and Cheques, on the old Chichester Bank ( which has been broken up 31 years) some of which he passed. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Parnell, West Sussex Constabul try, Steyning, or to Sergeant Silvester, Police Station, Shoreham, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bowstreet, December 3. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, charged with stealing several articles of men's Wearing Apparel, some of which have been recovered : a tramping labourer, about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, dark hair and whiskers turn- ing grey, pale or sallow complexion, round shouldered, and a great boaster' when drunk; dressed iu a bid, k coat with velvet collar, much worn, grey cloth vest with sleeves, black cord trousers, grey Scotch cip, light lacoup boots', and blue striped shirt, all stolen ; stated lie came from Outwell, near Wisbeach, and was traced to holbeach the same day. Sup- posed to be going to Norfolk. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Thorsby, County Police Station, Boston, Lin- colnshire.— " ow- stree/, December 3. SAMUEL TAYLOR, described in the P . lico Gazette of the 22ud instaut, charged with stealing a Watch at C. innock, has been arrested, identified, and remanded. He gave the name of SAMUEL MITCHELL, and says he belougs to Liverpool ; has recently served 18 weeks imprisonment in Stafford Gaol, for felouy, in the name of JOIIN MELLARD. He is supposed to have committed offences elsewhere, and to have been previously convicted of felony. The Watch has been recovered at Stone, where the prisoner had exchanged it for auother. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Sow- street, December 3. head, and has weak eyes; dressed in a grey tweed jacket and trousers, and hard felt hat. Had with him a dark mixture pea jacket with red spots, and light tweed trousers with stripe down the sides'. He lias served several years ill the Royal Marines. Information to be giveu to Chief Superin- tendent Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow sireet, De- cember 10. Stolen front a safe in a public- house in the borough of Bolton, on the 7th instaut : £ 40 in Gold. By a lodger about 29 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, rather full features, stout make, dark brown hair cut short, slight whiskers and no moustache; dressed iu dark cloth overcoat, black cloth shooting coat, dark cloth vest, brown cord trousers, rather tight at the knees, greasy black billy- cock hat, and lace- up boots. He stated that he hau worked as a pork butcher in Blackburn, Darwen, and elsewhere, and may emigrate. £ 5 reward is offered for the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the Money. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beeeb, Bolton, Lancashire.— Bow- stree', December 10. Description of JOSEPH WILMOTT, alias AMERICA JOE, a pit sinker, charged with stealing on tho 30th ultimo : a silver Geneva Watch, ' Wm. Elsworth' engraved inside case ; a silver albert Guard, snake pattern, with Seal and Fey attached ; and two suits of Clothes, recovered : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, full face, stout make, dark brown bair, cut short behind, long dark mous- tache, no whiskers, stoops a little, and is rather bow- legged ; dressed in a blue pilot jacket and vest, dark grey cloth trousers, cloth cap, with peak, and a button at the crown, and laced boots; he is a native of Derbyshire, and is well known in the, coal districts. Information to be given to Superintendent Feai nside, Town Hall, Pontefract, Yorkshire. — Boxo- slreet, December 8. Description of two men, charged with stealing, on the 23rd ultimo, two Sheepskins, recovered ; THOMAS RICHARDSON, 27 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, round shoulders, light hair, no whiskers ; dressed in dark shott coat and ve.-, t, dark striped trousers, old boots, and close- fitting cap. GEORGE NORTON, alias ROYAL, about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair and whiskers, meeting under the chin ; dressed iu old brown coat, cord trousers, lace- up boots, and dark cap. They are both labourers, of Coningsby. Information to be given to Superintendent Jarvis, Police Station, Ilorncastle, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, December 8. Description of CHARLES JAMES, of Aston, Cantlow, charged ( on a warrant) with larceny: a labourer, about 30 years of age", 5 feet ( 5 inches high, rather round shoulders, dark sandy hair, beard and moustache, and round freckled face; dressed in dark cord trousers, white slop, and dark billycock hat. He is supposed to be workiDg on the railway in the neighbourhood of King's Norton or Lilly Oak, Wor- cestershire. Information to be given to Superintendent Thomas, Alcester, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, December 6. Stolen about 5 a. m. on the 1st instant, from Glanyrafon, Corris : a pair of brown woollen Stockings, lately darned, white tops; and two new white linen Collars, No. 14, round pattern. By a man, who lodged at the house, 34 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark brown hair, whiskers ( round the face), and moustache, dark brown eyes, and fresh com- plexion ; dressed in a dark double- breasted monkey jacket, woollen cord trousers, black billycock hat, white feather stuck inside, and blucher boots with red tops ; he is a native of Carnarvonshire, and a labourer. He is well known iu South Wales. Information to be given to Police Constable Ashton, Corris, Merionethshire.— Bmu- street, December 6. Description of HENRY ALEXANDER GRAHAM, charged ( on a warrant) with larceny as a bailee : about 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, rather pale, awartl. y complexion, brown hair, full red- brown whiskers, has lost one upper front tootb, and occasionally has a slight nervous im- pediment in his speech ; dressed in a suit of black clotb, high- crowned black hat, and carried a solt black felt hat, with wide silk band, with him ; he is well educated, of gentlemanly appearance, was last employed in the South Eastern Railway Factory, Ashford, Kent, as a painter, and has a wife and five children living iu London. He had the following articles in his possession when he absconded from Ashford on the 5th ultimo : a rough deal Box, ' Fragile' stamped on it in ink, containing a black barathea Costume, with two rows of plaitings on the lower part, and one on the upper part, of same material ; two print Aprons; t. wo linen ditto, one ... marked ' M. H.' in ink ; two white Petticoats ; a black cash- 1 suit, rough black cloth overcoat, black silk hat, aud carried mere Mantle, trimmed with silk ; a volume of ' History of a silk umbrella ; he is of smart appearance and good address, the Earth, or Animated Nature,' and a * Dictionary of He calls upon the principal painters and decorators in English History,' with ' Mercy Hay ward' written in them ; different towns aud represents himself as traveller to Messrs. three vols, of ' Sunday at Home,' two vols, of ' The Quiver,' J. W. Graham and Co., Shuldham Works, Bryanston- square, and two vols, of ' Gleanings of the Field of Boaz,' all bound London, and offers for sale packets of material for electro- in half- calf ; al30 a small gold Geneva Watch, Roman figures, plating, which is worthless, and the firm he professes No. 32402, a gold Chain, with gold Key, Peucilcase in shape | to represent ctunot be found ; from receipts which he shows felonies. ( Wot otherwise described). Absconded, charged on warrant with feloniously and was last employed with Mr. Johnson, coal merchant New- port. Description of a man who gives the name of THOMAS WILSON, remanded at the City Police Station, Salisbury, on a charge of larceny : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, dark brown hair, small ginger whiskers aud moustache, of a few weeks growth ; dressed in brown slop, cloth jacket, blue striped shirt, fustiau trousers, patched on each knee, and black wide- awake hat, all old.
