Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Stockton- on- Tees, daring the night of the 23rd ultimo : 1 pair of dark grey Trousers and Vest. 1 pair of black and white narrow striped Trousers and Vest. 1 pair of dark check tweed Trousers aud Vest. 2 pairs of drab or white moleskin Trousers, 1 brown velvet reefing Jacket, bonnd with braid, brown quilted lining, sleeves lined with bright blue lining, a vent at each side with buttons. 1 black velvet reefing Jacket, bound with braid, black quilted lining, sleeves lined with bright scarlet, a vent at each side with buttons. .1 brown beaver Overcoat, not bound, satin cloth lining and covered buttons, three pockets ontside and ticket pocket, and one inside left breast. 2 blue serge Jackets. 2 pairs of white wool Drawers. 2 dark grey check mixture tweed Vests. 3 check union wool Shirts. 1 paisley Muffler. 2 Scotch Caps, with peaks and coloured bauds. By two tramps : one, 30 to 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, long dark hair, and darkjmoustache ; stated he had been a fireman in a steamboat: the other, 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, sandy hair, little or no whiskers, and appeared to be a bricklayer's labourer. Both the men are wearing a part of the stolen property, as they left their old clothes behind them in a field near Hart- burn, on the Darlington- road. Between 6 30 and 8' 30 p. m. on the 22nd instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Green, Castle- street, Chesterton, • was broken into, and stolen therein; a patent silver lever stop Watch, No. 88G011, maker Joseph Moses, Bishop Auck- land, had a plated leather Guard attached ; and a silver verge Watch, double cased, No. 8349, maker William Beew, London, white dial, gold hands, and had a brass Chain and Key attached. During the night of the 22iad instant, the booking office at the Midland Railway Station, Yate, Gloucestershire, was broken into, and stolen therein : a £ 5 Note, Bank of England ( Stuckey's, Bristol) ; £ 3 in gold, and £ Z Is. 7J. in silver and copper Monies; a parcel containing two eider down Quilts, one of a red colour, the other darker; a servant's Livery, consisting of a frock Coat, claret- coloured cloth, red binding, a pair of drab cloth Breeches and Gaiters, and a pair of cotton Drawers ; a Hare ; and a Pheasant; the property of the Midland Railway Company. Supposed by a mau about 34 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather stout make, dark sandy whiskers ; respectably dressed in dark clothes ; he is a house decorator, and a native of London. Information to be given to Superintendent Ellison, Constabulary Office, Chipping Sodbury, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, November 26. legs, is m very low condition, and saffering from a large sore behind near shoulder. The bay Mare advertised in the Police Gazette of the 26th ultimo, as being stolen from a field at Wyrley on the 8th instant, has been found at Ironbridge, Salop, and restored to the owner.— Bow- street, December 3. Stolen on the 16th ultimo, a Horse ( since recovered), the property of Mr. Thomas Butcher, of Amersham, Bucks, by CORNELIUS GOMM, alias CHARLIE, alias JAMES DENNIS, a lahourer, and native of Naphill, near Wycombe : he is about 19 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair aud complexion, round face, and no beard or whiskers ; dressed in an old dark coat, dirty white short slop, cord trousers torn at the seat, old high shoes, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Sargent, High Wycombe, or to Sergeant Storey, Amersham, Bucks, who holds a wan- ant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, De- cember 1. Stolen from a field at the Beeches, west Bromwich, between the 24th and 26th instait: a dark brown half- brc- d Filly, 2 years old, black mane and tail, hind legs white to above fetlocks, one fore leg white, white stripe down the face, brown nose, has been broken to harness and saddle, and shod round. Information to be given to Superintendent Wooll- aston, Police Office, West Bromwich, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, November 29. Stolen from Ash Priors Common, on the 13th instant: a red Devon Heifer, coming 2 years old, marked on the left ear by a small piece being cut out on under part, near the point. £ 5 reward will be paid on the recovery of the heifer, and conviction of the offender or offenders, by Mr. Thomas Westcott, Middleton Farm, Bishops Lydeard. It issupposed that the heifer was driven away by a drover, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes ; he passed over the Common on the above date, in charge of a drove of cattle, and supposed to have come from the lower part of Somerset or Devon. Information to be given to Superintendent Mear, Williton, or to Sergeant Andow Bishops Lydeard, Somerset Constabulary.— Bow- st., Nov. 29. Supposed to have been stolen from a field at Neachill Wednesfield, during the night of the 19th instant, a dark chestnut Mare, 13£ hands high, aged, blind of near eye, and in fair condition ; the property of Mr. Richard Bate, Moseley Village. Stolen on the 20th instant, from New Pye- street, West- minster : a light chestnut horse Pony, 14 hands high, rising 3 years, clean cut, white blaze down face, off hind foot white, long tail and mane, turning silvery, unshod, and not broken for harness.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, November 26. Found straying on the 19th instant, at Passenham, Northamptonshire, and supposed to have been stolen : a chesnut cart Mare, aged, about 16 htinds high, white face and larceny an3> embezzlements Stolen from Middlesborough on the 30th » Himo, a silver lever Watch ( recovered, having been pledged): by a man, 55 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, round face, large nose, no whiskers, dark hair turning grey, and stout make ; a boiler maker or rivetter, and native of ' Lin- colnshire ; dressed iu a grey top coat, white smock, black cloth ve& t, white moleskin trousers, dirty billycock hat, black and white scarf with red spots, aDd lace- up boots. Description of JOHN HENRY PAYNE, of Gloucester charged with stealing on the 27th ultimo from the ship ' Star of Hope' at Shoreham, a Scotch Cap, the property of Hiram Cooper; also a b: own cloth Yest and Sou.'- waster, the property of Charles Peacock. He is about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair and eye3, no whiskers sallow complexion, and Roman nose, which has a scar on it • dressed in dark pepper- and- salt jacket and trousers, light pepper- and- salt vest, black alpine hat, and new side- spring boots. He had been a seaman on board the above ship about five weeks. Had iu his possession a duck Bag, containing the stolen Articles, a new suit of Clothes ; a number of £ h and £ 10 Notes and Cheques, on the old Chichester Bank ( which has been broken up 34 years) some of which he passed. Information to be given to Superintendent Parnell, West Sussex Constabulary, Steyning, or to Sergeant Silvester, Policft, Station, Shoreham, Sussex, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- st> eel, December 3. Absconded on the 28th ultimo, charged with sUaling several articles of men's Wearing Apparel, some of which have been recovered : a tramping labourer, about 45 years of age, about. 5 feet 0 inches high, dark hair and whiskers turn- ing grey, pale or sallow complexion, round shouldered, and a great boaster when drunk; dressed in a black coat with j velvet collar, much worn, grey cloth vest with sleeves, hlack cord trousers, grey Scotch cap, light lace- up boots, and blue striped shirt, all stolen ; stated he came from Outwell, near Wisbeach, and was traced to Holbeach the same day. Sup- j posed to be going to Norfolk. Information to be given to 1 Superintendent Thorsby, County Police Station, Boston, Lin- colnshire.—' Sow- street, December 3. SAMUEL TAYLOR, described in the Police Gazette of the 22nd instaut, charged with stealing a Watch at Cannock, has been ai rested, identi6ed, and remanded. He gave the name of SAMUEL MITCHELL, and says he belongs to Liverpool ; has recently served 18 weeks imprisonment in Stafford Gaol, for felony, in the name of JOHN MELLARD. He is supposed to have committed offences elsewhere, and to have been previously convicted of felony. The Watch has been recovered at Stone, where the prisoner had exchanged it for another. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, December 3. Absconded on the 22ud ultimo, from Buckhurst H.' ll, I Chigwell, embezzling £- 2 : a mau, 24 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers, scars on face ; dressed in dark tweed coat and vest, dark striped trousers, imitation buttoned boots, and brown hard felt hat. — Metropolitan Police, N Division, December 1. Absconded on the 27th ultimo, stealing : A gentleman's diamond cluster Ring, set with seven or eight stones. Two lady's long gold Chains, small pattern, two Seals ( one large, one small) attached to one. 6 gold Rings, one lady's, set with five topaz ; one lady's, set with three aquamarines ; one Wedding, set with single topaz ; one heartsease, set with turquoise, two pearls, and small ruby in centre ; one gentleman's biguet, white stone ; one lady's, set with five paste diamonds, one iu centre. A old- fashioned pair of Earrings, with carbuncle. Five gold Brooches, one old- fashioned ( set two large opals), one small pearl, one in shape of a hand ( four stone, 9 and a ruby on little finger), one large, one large topaz ( set in fine gold filigree work). A woman, 25 years of age ( looks younger), 5 feet higb, fair complexion and hair, light eyes, round full face, and rather stout ; dressed in light cotton dress, black tunic with pearl buttons, and black bonnet trimmed with blue ribbon and red flowers ; her friends reside at Chatham.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, Dt. c-. mber 1. By a woman, a native of Wexford, who has been in England about 3 years, between 30 and 35 years of age, speaks with a slight Irish accent, tall and Blender dark hair, and sharp features ; dressed in black and white straw hat, dark waterproof cloak, white stockings, and lace- up boots. Absconded from Bye, charged with stealing from the schooner, ' Contender' : a reefing Jacket, oilskin Frock and Trousers, one pair of Mittens, aud a brown Blanket, [ the property of Henry Apps, a fellow sailor : a man 22 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, light complexion, light brown hair, light sandy whiskers, aud freckled face ; dressed in blue guernsey, black hat, blucher boots, and ( supposed) a blue monkey Jacket; he is a native of Newhaven or Chaley, near Lewis. Information to be given to Head Constable Butcher, Bye, Sussex.— Bow- street, Dvcember 1. Stolen on the 2- 2nd ultimo, from Loundes street, Pimlico, .£ 3 15s. in Gold and Silver : by a man, age 18, 5 feet 8t> r 9 inches high, pale complexion, dark brown hair, large mouth, feet, and hands, aud simple- looking ; dressed in a black cloth coat, dark cweed trousers and vest, white collar, black tie, side- spring boots, and hard felt hat. Was last seen on War- wick race- course on the 26th instant.— Metropolitan Police, B Division, December 1. Absconded on the 25th ultimo, from Store- street, St. Pancras, stealing £ 48 : a man, 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, and light brown hair ; dressed in dark coat and vest, grey trousers, side- spring boots, and black felt hat.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, December 1. Absconded from Walsall, charged with stealing ,£ 1S, the monies of the Great Western Railway Company, his masters : THOMAS FARMER, 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, and slightly pockpitted ; is well acquainted ] with railway waggon work. Information to be given to j Chief Constable Cater, Walsall, Staffordshire, who holds a • warrant for his arrest.— Bow- street, November 29. Stolen from Chester Barracks on the night of the 24th instant, the property of one of the officers of the 3uth Regt. : one blue livery Overcoat, with plain buttons ; one ditto ditto Undercoat; one yellow striped Vest; one pair drab Breeches ; one pair drab Gaiters ; two Vests with sleeves ; one dark tweed Coat; and one pair cord Trousers. By private JOHN FOX, who acted as servant, and was seen wearing some of the stolen Clothes on the above date; 22 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, and grey eyes. He is a stonemason and a native of Llangollen. Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Superintendent, Oldmeadow, or to Inspector Williamson, County Police, Chester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- streeS, - Nov. 29. Description of WILLIAM DOYLE, alias PAT DOYLE, alias THE BEAR, and RUSSIAN BEAR, charged on a warrant with larceny, at Ripon : he is a tramping tailor, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, coloured whiskers, turning grey, shaved under the chin, he walks very erect, was formerly in the army, and also in the Royal Irish Constabulary ; he is very much addicted to drink, and stops at common lodging- houses. Information to be given to Head Constable Metcalfe. City Police Office, Ripon, Yorkshire.— — Bow- street, November 29. Description of two men,' charged on a warrant with stealing 771bs. of Lead, at Frant, Sussex, on the 24th instant, since recovered : GEORGE SMITH, alias GILES, about 23 or 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, cut short, proportionate figure, late of Tunbridge Wells, and is a costermcnger: dressed in Monker jacket, blue Guernsey under, dark tight- fitting cord trousers, billycock hat, and lace- up boots with brass eyelet holes. And a man named SMiTH, about 21 or 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, cut short, proportionate figure, late of Tunbridge Wells, and is a coster- monger ; dressed in monkey jacket with blue Guernsey underneath, dark tight- fitting cord trousers, billycock hat, and lace- up boots with brass eyelets. These men are supposed to be accompanied by two women, of medium height, about 25 years of ape, and one has a child about four months old. They are well known in Brighton, Croydon, Chatham, and in the neighbourhood of London. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, or to Sergeant Avery, Court House, Mark Cross, Sussex.— ~- Bw>- itreet, November 29. Description of SPENCER VEYSEY, a pupil dentist, charged with embezzling various sums of money, belonging to Mr. Styer, at Speen, in July and August last : 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, rather pale complexion, round face, has a small cast in left eye, brown hair, slight figure, and haa lost a front tooth and wears an artificial one ; usually dressed in a light or plaid suit, and wears a large imitation diamond pin. Hia friends reside at Mount Radford, Exeter, and he is fond of billiards. £ 5 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to his apprehension, on application to Superintendent Bennett, Police Office, Newbury, Berks, who holds a warrant for his apprehension and will forward a photograph on application.— Bow- street, November 29, Description of EDWARD GEORGE HILLIER, a mill- worker, a native of London, who has absconded with £ 30 of his employers money ; he is 23 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, light brown hair, no whiskers, slight moustache, florid complexion, and haa a bad leg; dressed in a suit of dark tweed, brown topcoat, and black felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent McKay, Burgh- buildings, Galashiels, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, No- vember 29. Stolen from a bedroom at an hotel at Brighton, about midday on the 23rd instant: a gentleman's gold Geneva Watch, gold face, plain back, very good case, nearly new. Supposed by a man about 36 years of age, but looks older, dark whiskers, with about a week's growth of beard, and high cheekbones, shabbily dressed ; in brown clothes, dark overcoat, soft slouched felt hat, and carried a large brown portmanteau. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex,— Bow- street, November 26. Absconded on the 20th instant, from South- place, Finsbury, stealing £ 728 16?., the monies of his employer : a man, 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, slightly turning grey, very Blightly pockmarked ; dressed in dark grey overcoat, blue undercoat, mixture trousers, and black hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 26, Absconded on the 9th instant, from Loughborough Parade, Brixton, charged with embezzling £ 30: a man, 36 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ; dressed in light tweed suit and black billycock hatMetropolitan Police, W Division, November 26. Stolen from the new railway at Daw End, near Walsall, during the night of the 19th inst. : four Shovels ( recovered). By an Irish navvy, from 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, thin face, no whiskers or moustache, sore eyes, and a dark blue mark across his nose ; dressed in old pilot jacket, moleskin trousers, billycock hat, and strong lace- up boots ; he has a dirty appearance. Description of THOMAS MATTHEWS, of Shipley, near Bridgnorth, charged with larceny as a bailee : 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, black curly hair, slight moustache ; dressed in dark clothes and stroDg lace- up boots, and looks like a jockey ; he is well known among cattle dealers and drovers in Staffordshire and Shrop- shire. He gave the name of JENKINS, and MARY ANN JENKINS, his wife, and said that they came trom Pennybank, near the Devil's- bridge ; that they were going to the farm, Velindre, Radnorshire, to the funeral of the woman's mother, which was false.
