Absconded from Middlesborough on the 22nd instant, charged with assaulting and inflicting grevious bodily harm : JAMES CONWAY, a bricklayer, a native of Malton, of Irish parents, 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 inchcs high, fresh complexiou, thin face, hazel eyes, and stoops a little ; he booked by train from Middlesborough, on the 22nd instant, for Sunderland, iu company - with two other bricklayers. In- formation to be giveu to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middles- borough, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 29. Description of GEORGE WESTLEY, labourer and drover, of Burton Latimer, who absconded on the 21st inst., charged with stabbing Josiah Dent, at Burton Latimer, on the 21st instant : 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, very light hair, very small whiskers, fresh look- ing, and very upright ; dressed in a short grey coat, cord trousers, and soft black billycock hat. He may also have a dark grey coat with him, and be wearing an alpaca coat. Between 1 and 4 p. m. on the 29th ultimo, the house of thomas Apps, of Wadhurst, Sussex, was broken and entered and stolen therein : a blue stuff Dress, with three rows of braid rouud the bottom, and large buttons up the front; a large jet black Brooch, with gold centre piece, and hair iu it ; a brown Purse, with elastic band ; an open- face silver Watch, with consular case ; a Post Office Savings Bank Book, Tonbridge Post Office, No. 1524 ; and a'oout .£ 25, chiefly in Gold. Information to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, to Sergeant Avery, Court House, Mark Cross, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Bow- street, October 1. On the 23rd instant, the dwelling- house of Mrs. Price of Cross- lanes, near Wrexham, was broken and entered, aud stolen therein : a Suit of black cloth, man's size, the coat and vest braided ; a pair of Trousers and a Vest, of a very light grey cloth ; a dark grey Coat ; a Top- coat, with red and blaok plaid lining ; a pail of Trouers and Vest, of a pepper and salt coloured cloth ; a silver Watch ; and a white table Cloth. Supposed by two tramps, one about 28 years of age, about 5 feet 7 cr 8 inches high ; dressed in a dark monkey jacket, white fustian trousers, and hairy cap ; the other about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair; dressed in a large top- coat, and jimcrow hat, turned up at sides. Two tramps of the above descriptiou passed through Naut- wich on the 2- lth iustant, and there disposed of a pair of black cloth trousers ; they had with them a watch and over- coat, aud a new black cloth coat aud vest, and vfrent on the way for Crewe or the potteries ; they applied for work at a brick- field near the town, and stated that they should pledge the thiugs they had with thero, at Crewe or in the potteries, if they did not get work. Description of a man who gave the name of THOMAS LEE, charged with housebreaking at Northallerton, and remanded until the 29th instant: 24 years of age, 5 feet 64 inches high, light brown hair, blue eyes, sallow com- plexion, proportionate make, small light moustache, and two moles ou back ; dressed in a grey cloth jacket, black cloth vest, moleskin trousers, billycock hat, and lace- up boots, all worn ; he states he is a native of Market Harborough, and resided at No. 29, Charles- street there up to about six years ago ; he has been working at the Oaks Colliery, Barnsley, aud other places in Yorkshire. Stolen on the 22nd instant, by means of housebreaking, tbe property of Mr. Isaac Gilbert, at Beckley, Sussex: a Wedding King aud Keeper ; a Dress ring, set with hair, marked ' Andrew' inside ; a Mourning King ; a gold Brooch, set with twenty- nine pearls ( one missing) ; a small gold framed Brooch ; two gilt Brooches, one with pebble ; a large white Brooch, silver- gilt; a pair of gold loop Ear rings, one broken ; a pair of jet Ear- rings; a jet Broach ; and a gilt Watch Guard" Information to be given to Superintendent Jeffery, Guestling, or to Sergeant Campany, Beckley, Sussex, or any Police Station iu East Sussex.— Bow- street, Sept. 27. Stolen by means of burglary, on the 22nd instant, from Messrs. Steers aud Adams, drapers, Brighton : ten sealskin Jackets, value £ 100, each jacket has a label iuside the collar, with ' Steers and Adams' on it. £ 25 reward will be paid to auy person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders aud recovery of the property, or iu proportion to the amount of property recovered. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bou<- slreet, September 27. On the night of the 19th instant, the house of Mr. Henry Charles Reed, in the borough of Kingston- upon- Hull, was brokeD and entered, and stoleu thertiu : a silver Geneva Watch, small size, No. 30518, with gold Guard, diamond cut pattern ; a black ribbed cloth Coat and Vest ; a black cloth Coat, much worn ; a blue cloth Coat, collar torn ; a grey Scotch plaid mixture double- breasted " Vest ; an amber- coloured mixture Vest ; two common Brooches ; aud a claw pattern meerschaum Pipe. £ 2 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cook, Hull.— Bow- street, September 24. Description of a man committed for trial at the quaiter sessions for the county of Northampton, on the 20th proximo, on four charges of housebreaking ; JOSEPH TOMLIN, of Cambridge, rivetter and leather cutter, 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, brown moustache, no whiskers, scar on forehead and left hand, and mole on back ; dressed in black overcoat, with velvet collar and pockets at side, light check mixture cloth trousers and vest, light check necktie, high silk hat, aud side- spring boots, ne had in his possession when apprehended 46 skeleton koys and a jemmy. Information to be given to Superintendent Nor- man, Police Office, Towcester, Northamptonshire.— Bow- slree:, September 22. The dwelling- house of John Inings, of Common Wood, Holt, was broken aud entered on the 16th instant, and the following articles stolen therein : a black cloth Coat* and Vest, pockets outside ; a boy's grey Coat ; a Paisley scarf Shawl, with white centre ; a lady's grey waterproof Cloak ; two pairs of ladies' grey lambswool Stockings ; and a bunch of Keys, about eight in number. Two men of the following description, supposed to be tramps, are suspected : one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 iuches high, dark complexion, and diessed in dark clothes ; the other about 25 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, light complexion, and diessed in Scotch cap with knob on the top, and dirty grey cloth clothes. Between 12 and 6 p. m. cn the 16th instant, the house of William Hope, Framfield, Sussex, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a lady's black horse- hair watch Guard, with gold slides ; a gold Locket and small Knife attached ; a silver Thimble ; a pair of gold Ear- rings ; a pair of black Bracelets ; a gold scarf Fin ; a large silver Brooch, with four pebbles in centre ; about IBs. iu silver and copper Monies ; a brown morocco Purse, containing silver aDd copper foieign Coins; a pair of woman's black kid Gloves; a black jet watch Chain with silver Locket attached; a gold plated Brooch ; and a pair of new gold Ear- rings. Supposed by a man, 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, pale com- plexiou, light hair, aud a few light whiskers ; dressed iu a dark coat aud vest, light trousers, white shirt, dark cork hat, aud light balmoral boots : he was carrying a small bundle. Iuformation to be given to Superintendent Peerless, Uckfield, Sussex, or at any Police Station in East Sussex.— Low- street, September 22. HOUSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Brynmawr on the 23rd instant: a cream- coloured Mare, about 13 hands high, rising 4 years, carries her tail on off' side, brushes on hind fetlock, black mane aud tail, mane lubbed by collar, aud iu rather low condition; the property of Mr. Jonah Weeks, butcher, Brynmawr, Brecon. Information to be given to Superintendent Evans, Crick- howell, or to Serjeant Joseph, Police Station, Brynmawr, Breconshire, S. W.— Bow- street, September 27. Description of a man named JAMES DENSTON, charged wjth disposing of a Horse, the property of Thomas Whiting, of Emberton, and fraudulently converting the money to lis own use : about 42 years of age, 6 feet 1| inch high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair, grey eyes, slight whiskers, las a scar on upper lip, and one on the bottom of back, and stoops when walking ; dressed in a long dark grey tight- fitting oveicoat, dark trcuscrs, black billycock hat, low shoes, much worn, and white socks ; usually employed as a jobbing horsebreaker. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, Northampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow street, S ptember 27. Found, supposed to have been stoVn : a dark brown mare Pony, aged, 12 hands high, aud black legs. Information to be given to Superintendent Freeman, Stourbridge, Wor- cestershire.— Bow- street, Septcmbtr 27. Description of THOMAS GREY, alias EMMITT CLAYTON, alias THOMAS BYWATER, committed for trial at Lincoln Quarter sessions, on the 22ud proximo, on a charge of horse stealing : he is 27 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, rather long face, whiskers shaved off, and has a scar on the elbow joint ot right arm, about the size of a shilling ; dressed in cord trousers, old grey cloth jacket, aud grey worsted cap ; he sometimes works as a chair bottomer, associates with gipsies and horse dealers, and travels with a woman who has a pedlar's certificate for the West Riding of Yorkshire; he is supposed to be known in Birkenhead as Thomas Bywater, sometimes pietends to be deaf aud dumb, and carries a slate on which he writes a petition, and calls at houses to beg ; he says his proper name is Emmitt Clayton, and that he has a relative a heater, at some ironworks, Jarrow- on- Tyne, and that he is a native of Gateshead, where he lived till recently. Description of a man charged with stealing a Horse ( recovered) : 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 iuches high, dark com- plexion, hair ( partly bald), and whiskers ; dressed in a blown striped cutaway coat, light tight- fitting trousers, blue necker- chief with white spot, and carries a short cane; a horse coper, and attends horse fairs, sales, & c.— Metropolitan Polioe, T Division, September 24. Stolen from a stable at Park Hill, Moseley, on the 20th instant : a chestnut half- bred Horse, 7 years old, about 16£ hands high, white maik down face, and small white streak down ribs on the near side ; also a Saddle and Bridle, nearly new ; the property of Mr. Joseph Nichols. Also, the same night, from King's Norton: a light red- roan van Horse, lair hands high, rising 3 years old, high cheekbone on off side, aud small side bone on one fore foot; and a dark brown cob Mare, 14 hands high, 5 years old, scar on each hock, aud cut over right eye ; the property of Messrs. A. Jones and John Pope. Information to be given to Superintendent Humphries, Police Station, King's Heath near Birmingham.— Bow- street, September 24, Stolen from a field in Wisbech, on the night of the 19th instant : a bright bay cart Mare, 7 years old, has an iron plate on the toe of one hind foot, and it small white star on forehead. Information to be given to Head Constable Sharpe, Wisbech, Isle of Eiy.— Bow- street, September 22, Supposed to have been stolen, from Setterston, on the night of the 17th instant, the property of John Worthington, of Glynamel, Fishguard, Pembrokeshire : a powerful black Cob, 3 years old, 15 hands high, a narrow white blaze down the face, has been docked, and is iu good condition. Stolen from Barnsdale, near Pontefract, Yorkshire, on the ni" ht of the 19th instant : an iron- grey Horse, 4 years old 15 hands 1 inch high, carries the tail on off side when wal'kins and has had a new shoe put on right fore foot, the property of John Parkin, farmer. Stolen from Hook Quay, Langum, on the 15th instant : a bay Horse, 10 years oi l, 16 hands high, white star on fore- head white ou off hind leg, steps awkwardly, throws forelegs across and outwards when walking; was sold at Maenclochog Fail- the day after it was stolen, to a hawker of baskets travel- ling'with a van. LARCENY AND ESttBEZZLES& ESm Absconded: JOHN WILLIAM DOBSON, charged with Embezzlement; he is a commercial clerk, about 35 yrs. of ao- e, about 5 feet 8 inches high, light hair, ruddy com- plexion, red neck, light whiskers and moustache, clean shaved on the chiu ; dressed in dark tweed suit, light summer overcoat, and hard felt hat. He is a native of Mintworth, near Rotherham, Yorkshire. Information to be given at tlie Central Police Office, Sheffield.— Bow- street, October 1. Stolen from a cashbox in the bedroom of Benjamin Pollard, shopkeeper, of Shanklin, between 10 a. m. and 5 p m. on the 29th ultimo : £ 33 in Sovereigns and half- sovereigns. By a fashionably dressed female - who had taken lodgings at the house for. four nights : 24 or 25 years of age, rather short, light brown hair, pale face, slightly pockpitted under her eyes ; dressed in a black hat trimmed with a dark blue scarf, grey dress, and long - waterproof cloak ; she left behind her a light cloth jacket trimmed with ball friDge. Information to be given to Superintendent Horan, Hants Constabulary, Newport, or to Sergeant rapkins, Sandown, Isle of Wight. — Bow- street, October 1. Description of HAGIA alias JOHN HINES, of the parish of Watfield, labourer, charged on a warrant with steal- ing, on the 26tli ultimo, a cloth Overcoat and one Glove ( recovered), from the parish of Elmsett : 22 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, light corduroy trousers, brown velvet vest with sleeves, and black soft felt hat; he is known in the neighbourhood of Debenham and Framlingham. Information to be given to Superintendent Chapman, Boxford, or to Inspector Palmer, Hadleigh, Suffolk.— Bow street, October 1. Description of ISAAC KIDD, charged with stealing .£ 34 between the 18th and 23rd ultimo from Bent Farm House, Galston, Ayrshire : about 38 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, stout figure, fresh complexion, red hair and whiskers, and a large mole on right side of neck. He is a native of the north of Ireland, and works as a farm labourer or carter, and at iron furnaces; dressed in grey tweed trousers and vest, blue pilot coat, grey cap, and heavy shoes. He is of dissipated habits, an 1 lias deserted his children at Kilmarnock. Information to be given to Superintendent Menzies. County Constabulary, Kilmarnock, N. B., who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 1. Stolen from a public- house in South Shields, about 11 am. on the 29th ultimo : about £ o in Silver, a Half- Sovereign, and a' iout 15s. in 3d. and 4d. Pieces. By a man, 25 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, pale com- plexion, no whiskers or moustache, lowers his brow when speaking ; dressed in a black or blue frock coat, dark vest, tweed trousers, and cap with cheesecutter peak ; he said he was an engineer, and a native of London, but brought up in Sunderland. Information to be given to Head Constable Richardson, Borough Police Office, South Shields, Durham. — Bow- street, October 1. CATHERINE COYLE, late of Wrexham, advertised in the PoUce Gazette of the I6th July last, as not having sur- rendered to take her trial at the last Denbighshire Quarter Sessions, for larceny, is still at large. She may be found hawking fruit in fairs and markets. Information to be given to Superintendent Hammonds, Constabulary Office, Llanwrst, North Wales, > vho holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, September 29. Absconded from Weston- super- Mare, on the 25th inst,, charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 31 4s. 8d., the monies of Mr. W. E. Thomson : GEORGE VOISEY, a clerk, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark brown liair, whiskers, and moustache, fresh complexion, and full hazel eyes ; he i3 suffering from lumbago, aud walks w ith a stick ; dressed in a black hard bowler bat, dark cloth suit, of respectable appearance, and is fond of billiards ; will probably endeavour to emigrate to America. One Guinea reward. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillbanks, Somerset Constabulary, Axbridge, or to Sergeant Hard wick, Weston- super- Mare, Somersetshire.— Bow- street, Sept. 29. Absconded from Eton on the 20th instant, a shoemaker, charged with stealing three pairs of Lasts, and two pairs of Uppers, the bottom leather marked with the letter ' G.' The man is of the following description : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, black hair aud whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes and felt hat. A woman is with, bim, very much pockmarked. He was in Maiden- head on tLe 22nd instant, and is supposed to have gone either to Reading or to Chesham. Information tobe given to Superintendent Dunham, Slough, or to Inspector Pearman, EtoD, Bucks.— Bow- street, September 27. Stolen from a public- house in Berwick- upon- Tweed: three £ b Notes of a Yorkshire bank, and some gold and silver Monies ; a white waterproof Coat, double- breasted, with bone button*, two pockets on right side, one on left with flaps, two of the buttons are missing; p. cotton Pocket hand- kerchief, white centre, and black spot3 on border; aud a common pocket clasp Knife. By a man about 25 years of age, about 5 feet C inches high, slender make, small face, small whiskers, aud slight moustache ; dressed in blue shooting coat, grey trousers, low black hat, the crown in pieces meeting at the top, elastic- side boots, and spotted muffler; he lodged in the house on the night of the 24th instant, and left early next morning without notice ; he said he was a decorator, that he came from Dunbar, and was going south. Information to be given to Head Constable Garden, Berwick on- Tweed, Northumberland.— Bow- street, September 27. Absconded, charged with stealing on the 23rd instant, from the ' Five Ways' inn, Aldridge, a Gun ( siuce recovered): two navvies, one 6 feet 1 inch high, well built, 26 years of age, walks very erect, and no whiskers or moustache; dressed in dark pilot jacket, moleskin trousers, dark cloth cap, aud strong lace- up boots. The other is 36 years ot age, 5 feet 5 inches iiigb, no whiskers or moustache, aud stoutly built ; dressed in drab slop, moleskin trousers, dark cloth cap, aud strong lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, or to Sergeant Arnold, Police Station, Rushall, near Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow street, September 27. Description of CHARLES A.
