INFO E M AT I O N S. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. The Body of a newly- born female Child was [ found on - the line of the Cornwall Railway, in the borough of Plymouth, on the 10th ult., and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned at the coroner's inquest against some person or persons unknown. Her Majesty's Government offer a reward of £ 60 to any person who will give such information aud evidence as shall lead to the discovery aud conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and Mr. Secretary Cross will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice; not being the person who actually committed the murder, • who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Description of two men charged with murder at Southall, on the 29th ult. ; one 18 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion and hair, grey eyes ; dressed in dark jacket, white slop under, cricketing cap, aud Balmoral boots with toe caps ( new) ; the other 20 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion aud hair ; dressed in dark jacket, cord trousers, dark felt hat ; both natives of Yeading, labourers, they are likely to tramp the country for reaping work, and were last seen at Iver, Bucks, on the morning of the 31st ult. — Metropolitan Police, X Division, August 4. FORGERY. Description of a man of gentlemanly appearance, dressed as a clergyman, who called at. tbe shop of Mr. Roberts, music- - seller, High- street, Windsor, on the 29th ultimo, and obtained £ 23 by means of a forged Cheque for £ 50, on Gurney & Co., Haleswnrth Bank. He stated that he was a friend of, and staying at Mr. Pearl's, High- street, and represented himself to be the Rev. H. F. Gill, vicar of Warfield. He purchased a pianoforte and a concertina, and received £ 23 as change. He is about 38 or 40 years of age, dark complexion, round face, very short nose, and about 5 feet 9 inches high. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Cooper, Police Station, Windsor, Berks.— Bow- street, August 11. Obtained on the 8th ultimo, by means of uttering a forged Cheque, £ 39. By THOMAS PAYNE, of Burbidge- road, Hinckley, Leicester, 26 years of age, ruddy complexion, dark brown hair, whiskers and beard shaved off; dressed in light plaid suit ; he is paralysed on one side. Stolen from the person whilst travelling from London • to Preston, ou the 11th instaut: a brown leather Pocket- book, with elastic band, containing .£ 125 or £ 145 in Bank of England Notes, consisting of two £ 20 notes, and the - remainder in £ 10 and £ 5 Notes; also four or six blank Cheques, on the Irongate Branch of the City of Glasgdw Bank. Stolen from the person at Lewes Races, on the 6th and 7th instant: A single- case silver engine- turned Geneva Watch, with the initials ' J. W.' on outside case. A brown leather Russia leather Cigar Case, containing two £ 10 Bank Cheques. A red leather Pocket- book, containing a £ 10 Bank of England Note, No. 48865. Stolen from the person of a gentleman at Brighton Ter- minus, on the morning of the 10th inst. : a gold |- plate lever Watcb, gold dial, makers Nennis & Loop, or Nennis & Loof, Tunbridge Wells, No, 10,042, Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Town Hall, Brighton.— Bow- street, August 11. Stolen from the person in Brighton, from the 5th to the 9th instant : A pair of Field Glasses, French make, and have some writing in French on them. A gold plain duplex hunting Watch. A large open- face gold lever Watch, white dial, maker Gardener, Manchester, on inside plate, and a short piece of gold curb Chain, with four small gold Chubb lock KeyB attached. A silver lever Watch, double cases, no glass, seconds hand missing, maker Edward Hawksworth, Grand Parade, Cork, Ireland. Stolen from the person of Samuel Garton, on the 5th instant, in the ' White Horse Inn,' at Great Driffield : a wash leather Bag, containing £ 1 15a. in Gold and Silver. FOSTER, 22 years of age, 6 feet 6 inches high, J pale com- plexion, grey eyes, brown hair, slender figure ; dressed in dark coat, grey trousers, light boots, and felt hat. At large During the night of the 5th inst. the dwelling- house of the Rev. Doctor Bennett at Crudwell was broken into, and about £ 30, chiefly in gold, a £ 5 bank note ( supposed Bank of England), issued by Huddleston, Green & Co., Bury St. Ed- munds ; and two bottles of Tan- agona Wine stolen therefrom. Information to be given to Superintendent Beauchamp Malmesbury, Wilts.— Bow- street, August 11. Between 6 p. m. on the 29th ultimo and 10 a. m. on the 4th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Newsum, of Rother- ham, timber merchant, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : a £ 20 Note, a £ 10 Note, three £ 5 Notes, and two Sovereigns ; a gentleman's diamond Ring, diamond fixed in claws ; a bright gold Brooch, set with three aqua- marine stones ; a lady's Hoop, set with pearls, one pearl very dark ; a strong silver Brooch, set with malachite; a gentleman's' hair Albert, with small Locket attached, with the likeness of a Female in it, and on the back the words ' In Memoriam'; and a white seal Ring, with the letters ' E. M. C. Y.' in red! Information to be given to Superintendent Gillett, West Riding Constabulary, Court House, Rotherham, Yorkshire. — Brno- street, August 9. Between 6 p. in. on the 3rd, and 6 a. m. on the 4th inBt., a weaving shed at Westhoughton, near Bolton- le- Moors, one 22 years of age, sleuder figure; dressed in white smock, Lancashire, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : under dark coat, and felt hat ; and the other 23 years of age, j about 80 yards of blue Silk ; about 70 yards of crimson ditto; slender figure, aud dark clothes. R.' on outside and inside of back case, and a small neat pattern gold Albert Chain, with a new spade Guinea attached, each link of the chain stamped • 18 carat.' Between 9 am. and 9 p. m. on tbe 5th instant, three dwelling- houses at Alrewas, near Lichfield, Staffordshire, were broken and entered, and stolen tkereiu : £ 10 in Gold and Silver ; an old- fashioned German silver Watch, with steel Chain and three Watch Keys attached; five silver Tea Spoons, marked ' A. S.;' ten Spoons, three Tea, four Table, oue Mustard, one Salt, one Sugar, and a pair of Sugar Tongs, all metal ; a gilt Bracelet, with a white stone in centre ; a dark Coat and Vest, boyfs size ; a dark blue cashmere Shawl; a pair of kid Gloves ; a red Pocket- handkerchief, with white spots, border mended with white cotton. Supposed by a man, from 35 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slender build, thin face, light complexion, and small light whiskers ; dressed in dark coat and vest, cord trousers, and black billy- cock hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Bowen, Staffordshire Constabulary, Bnrton- on- Trent.- Bow- street, August 11. formation to be given at the Central Police Office, Sheffield, Yorkshire.-- Bow- street, August 13. Stolen on the night of the 5th instant, from a stable in the East Park- road, Brighton : two French Mares, one very dark iron grey, 5 years old, about 16 hands high, long tail, rather full hocks, head rather lighter than the body, and has a small crack in front of near fore hoof; the other is light iron gTey, 6 years old, about 15 hands 3 inches high, a very small wart on the near hind thigh, the hair slightly rubbed off at tbe place, long mane and foretop, dark tail, and the near fore knee is very slightly chipped. Also stolen on the same night, from a stable near the Brighton race- course : a black Mare, aged, about 15 hands high, white hind fetlocks, long tail, off fore knee cut, but the hair has grown over it again, and very flat fore feet; a light spring Cart, in a very dirty state, has not been painted for a very long time, ' Sarah Moppett' painted underneath the tailboard, and ' William Moppett' in large letters on the tailboard, and has a seat with leather straps at each end ; also a set of light Harness, in pretty good condition, except tbe back baud, which is cracked. Any person giving such information a3 shall lead to the apprehensiou aud conviction of the offender or offenders aud recovery of the above property, shall receive a reward of £ 15 for each of the grey mares, and £ 10 for the black mare and cart. Stolen on the 3rd instant from a field near Wood Green Common : a dark brown Gelding, 16 hands high. By a man dressed in a light coat and billycock hat, who was seen riding the horse in tbe direction of MayWoad.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, Auqust 9. Description of JAMES NIGHTINGALE, charged with stealing a Horse ( recovered) from a field at Qulton, in the township of Oulton- with- Woodlesford, during the night of 26th ultimo : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, rather plump face, ginger whiskers all round the face but not thick, aud walks erectly ; dressed in a dark coat and vest, light cord trousers, black hairy cap with peak of similar material, watertight boots, very short frouts, and laced within one inch of the toes ; a labourer or horse keeper, and resided last at Brick- row, near the New- inn, Bradford. August 13 • Further information respecting JOHN JARRAT, charged with stealing forty- sis Sheep from William Overton, of Higgins Wood ( advertised, in th « Police Gazette of 11th October, 1869) : X10 reward will be paid for his apprehension and conviction. He is about 37 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, and is a native of Corwen, North Wales, but has not been there for several years; he has been a soldiers, and is generally employed as a drover and - with horse dealers in Wales ; he is well known to cattle dealers in Hereford and Worcester. Information to be given to Super intendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Christie, Newport, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, August 9. Found at Leigh, on the 28th ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen : a light bay Mare, aged, 15 hands high, white face, two hind legs white, no shoes on behind, and lame. Information to be given to Superintendent Lambert, Surrey Constabulary, Dorking.— Bow- street, August 6. The bay cart Horse, advertised in the Police Gazette of th « 14th ultimo, supposed to have been stolen from Walsall, has been found, and restored to the owner. The black horse Pony and black horse Cob, advertised at the same date, are still missing. £ 10 reward will be paid by the owner upon recovery of the horses and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 6. Charged with horse- stealing, between the night of the 20th and morniDg of the 21st lilt., at Pirnhall, in the parish of St. Ninians, Stirlingshire, WILLIAM DUNNING, sup- posed to be a native of Galloway : about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 6 high, fair hair and mou tache, sallow com- plexion, long and fall face, large eyes, whiskers shaved off, stoutly make, and leans forward when walking; he is a miner, but occasionally works as a carter, and at hay- cutting and farm work; dresaed in a blue coat, dark trousers and vest, and balmoral bonnet. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, County Police Office, Stirling.— Bow- slreet, , August 6. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of MARY ANN CONWAY, alias BARRY, who is charged with larceny on the 6th ultimo : from 24 to 26 years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, fresh complexion, good looking, dark hair, proportionate build, high forehead, stoops in shoulders, has a scar on left cheek and neck, which sticks out and is very red, has several other scars near the parting of her hair, and a wound on her leg below the knee ; she has a child about 1 year old which she constantly carries, and is accompanied by her husband about 5 feet 4 inches high, walks very smart, has a brown tuft of hair on the chin, anil is a bricklayers' labourer ; wears a dark suit and cap, and has worked in Wakefield, Barnsley, Middlesbrough, and South Stockton. Information to be given to Superinintendent Hunt, Central Police Office, Town Hall, Leeds.— Boiv- street, August 13. Description of WM. ALLEN, of Chesham, Bucks, labourer, charged on a warraut with larceny, at Iver, Bucks, on the 28th ultimo;: about 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, rather stoutiah, red complexion, light whiskers, and very gruff voice ; dressed iu dark jacket, fustian trousers, and black cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Court, Slough, Bucks,— Bow- slreet, Aug. 13. Description of WALT. PENSON, a chemist's assistant, charged with embezzling £ 35 : 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fresh complexion, sharp features, dark brown hair, slight beard on chin, small moustache, grey eyei, pro- portionate build, walks erect, smart appearance, and a native of Suffolk ; dressed in a dark blue coat and vest, dark check trousers, light overcoat, and white straw hat. He is supposed to be accompanied by a woman about 24 years of age, short stature, good looking, and of very smart appearance. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent. Carter, Terrington St. Clement, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and by whom all reasonable expences will be paid.— Bow- street, August 13. Absconded on the 7th instant, from St. John- street, Salisbury, charged with stealing from his furnished lodgings : two Blankets, one Bolster, and three cotton Sheets: ALFRED LOCK, a labourer, between 30 and 35 years of age, sallow complexion, light hair, blue eyes, sandy whiskers meeting under the chin, and small moustache ; dressed in brown tweed coat and vest, cord trousers, patched on each knee, light brown billycock hat, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Mathews, City Police Office, Salisbury, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 13, Absconded, charged with embezzlement: J. EMMERSON CROWTHER, about 46 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, well built, long face, dark completion, high mouth, lower lip thick, dark hair and whiskers, turning grey, no pioustache ; dressed in dark clothes ; he is a commercial traveller, and was a secretary to the Foresters' Society and other clubs ; he is known to a publican in Hull, anil has friends at Durham. Information to be given at the Central Police Office, Town Hall, Leeds, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 13. Absconded on the 31st ultimo, charged ( on a warrant) with larceny: CHARLES VENABLES, a clerk, about 19 years of age, 5 feet high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, thin face, pointed features, pale complexion, and slight build ; he is probably dressed in new clothes. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Depart- ment, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- itreet, August 13. Stolen on the 16th ultimo, from Whitfield- street: a suit of black Clothes. By a man about 27 years of age, short, pale complexion, and of respectable appearance. He paid a deposit on the clothes and requested that they might be shewn him, and during the temporary absence of the owner he went away with the property.— Metropolitan Police, E Division; August 11. Charged with stealing on the 25th ultimo : a silver lever " Watch, No. 20098 ; a metal Chain ; two Medals; and a cloth Coat, the property of William Brown, at Tow Law : a man, 28 or 30 years of a'be, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark com- plexion, very dirty slovenly appearance, dark hair, small moustache, and whiskers round the chin, and proportionate figure ; he is a tramp, and sleeps about cinder ovens, brick works, & c.; he ia supposed to be wearing the stolen coat, and striped trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent ThubroD, Durham Connty Constabulary, Stanhope, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- slreet, August 11 Absconded on the 26th ultimo, from Southampton- row, embezzling £ 200 : a man, 45 years of age, C feet high, fair complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed iu dark clothes, and of respectable appearance; he is supposed to have gone to Great Malvern.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, August 11. Absconded on the 11th May last, from Newtown, Mont- gomeryshire, charged with stealing six Fowls ( recovered), the property of John Jones, of Saint Harmon, Radnorshire : LEWIS MORRIS, 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, brown hair, small whiskers, of dirty appearance, and has been a farmer near Rhayader, Radnorshire ; dressed in an old light brown jacket, with slop underneath, cord trousers, jim- crow hat, and lace- up boots. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, or to Sergeant Hudson, Newtown, Montgomeryshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, August 11. Description of a man charged with stealing a quantity of Carpenter's Tool ( recovered), from Lower Stone, in the parish of Berkeley, during the night of the 3rd instant, about 55 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, light whiskers round face, and cleaned shaved ; dressed in brown jacket, dark trousers, and bowler hat. He says he is a carpenter, a native of the Isle of Man, and was making for Bristol. He wrote out several receipts at places where he called for mixing up paints. Information to be given to Superintendent Hewson, Dursley, or to Sergeant Taylor, Police Station; Berkeley, Gloucester- shire.— Bow- street, August 9. Stolen on the 29th ultimo, from a cottage in Ipswich : a new double- breasted black cloth Kensington Coat, black lining, stitched edges, sleeves lined with light twill 5 a black cloth Vest; and a pair of black cloth Trousers, new. By a man, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, ruddy complexion, sandy hair, long behind, and bald on top of head, is a little lame of right foot, and the shoe is cut; dressed in a cloth jacket, cord tronsers, old- fashioned waistcoat, with stripes, plaid scarf, and soft billycock hat, all much worn ; he carries with him a small black covered bible, and is frequently seen reading it; he generally seeks private lodgings.
