Stolen from the person on the Eastbourne Racecourse on the 10th instant : a gold Geneva Watch, with seconds hand, maker's name Wilson ; also a gold English Watch. Stolen from a field at Wing, during the night of the 9th inst. : one ewe Sheep, black face and legs, one half- bred Ewe, one long- woolled Ewe, and seven Lambs, in store condition : by a young man, dressed in dark clothes, and of respectable appearance, who was seen, on the morning of the 10th inst., driving the stolen sheep at 5 a. m., and he is supposed to have disposed of them at some fair or mai ket in the neighbour- hood. ELSEY, supposed of Beverley, Yorkshire, charged with converting to his own use a Pony and Cart, of which he was the bailee, the property of Mr. John Cheek, of Little Dunmow : he is about 55 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, grey hair, grey bushy whiskers, dark com- plexion ; generally dressed in dark grey clothes ; has travelled the country for many years as an improver of corn dressing machines. Description of a man who, ou the 5th instant, obtained seven Cattle from two auctioneers iu the Cattle Market, Hereford, by presenting in payment two cheques drawn on the Imperial Bank, Westminster Branch, London, which he signed ' Alfred Henry Walker,' but had no account at the bank; tns cheques were from a cheque- book taken ( lit of a portmanteau stolen on the railway between Bristol and London iu March last; the cattle were forwarded from Hereford to Islington Market, consigned ' Biswick to Bond,' sold on the 6th instant, and a cheque given by Mr. Bond to Biswick, payable at Bacon and Cobbold's Bank, Ipswich, which was cashed on the 7th instant, he receiving fourteen 2 gold Rings, one with green and white stones, the other £ 10 Notes of Bacon and Cobbold's Bank, Ipswich, Nos. 5070, had a red stone. ,5230,5112, 5231, 5503, 5451, 5449, 5172, 5239, 5392, 5338, A leather Purse, containing about £ 2 5s. ! 5265, 4719, and 5287. Stolen by means of housebreaking, at Llandewy- Ystradenny, between 3 and 9 p. m. on the 13th instant, the property of Mr. William Crofts : a light grey cloth Suit, with dark stripe down the side ; a blue witney Overcoat with a velvet collar, a blue serge Jacket, a grey tweed Jacket and Trousers, an old Chemise, a linen Towel, a blue and white plaid bundle Handkerchief, a fancy striped Apron, two linen Collars, £ 10 10s. in Gold, a quantity of Silver, two loayes of Bread, a plum Cake, aud some Ham. Early on the morning of the 12th instant, the booking office at the Bagillt Railway Station was broken aud entered, and there was stolen therefrom : 7s. 6d. in Copper, 5s. in Silver, a paper Parcel containing 3 lbs. 10 ozs. of Tobacco, and a paper Parcel supposed to contain newly- made Clothing. Information to be given to Superintendent Hughes, Holywell, Flintshire.— Bow- street, May 14. Between 10 a. ui. and 1 p. m. on the 10th instant, the dwelling- house of Charles Mulley, of the parish of Hadleigh, labourer, was entered, and the following property stolen : an old silver pair- case Watch, cases very thin, Roman figures, a piece chipped off the face between the X and XI, steel Chain, brass Key and Seal attached ; also a rough grey Overcoat, half worn, single- breasted, dark buttons, pockets on the hips, and is lined with red and black plaid. A tramp is suspected of having committed the above offence : he is about 5 feet 11 inches high, thin build ; dressed in long dark coat and leggings ; was seen in the afternoon of the lltli instant, on the Coggeshall road near Colchester, going in the direction of Braintee. Stolen from a field on the night of the 13th instant, the property of John Hogg, at Lazenby, near Redcar, Land Agent: a dark brown horse Pony, in good condition, 10 or 11 years old, about 13 hands high, square- cut tail, and a patch of hair worn off the top of the back by the saddle. Also, on the same night, out of a field at Yearsley, near Redcar, the property of John Proud, Farmer : a dark grey horse Pony, 3 years old, 131 hands high, white star on forehead, and short square cut tail. Supposed to have been taken to some of the fairs now being held. Information to be given to Superintendent Prest, North Riding Constabulary, Guis- brough, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, May 15. Obtained o^ the 6th instant, by fraud : two small red short- horn Cows. By a youth, 18 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair ; dressed in grey overcoat, cord trousers, and brown cloth cap.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, May 15. Description of GEORGE HADLEY, a bailee, charged with Horse stealing : 5 feet 5i inches high, 26 years of age, brown, the tire of near fore wheel is split aud hangs over, cap of one hind wheel oft', ' W. T. Waring, Chelsfield, Kent,' scratched en off side ; and an old set of Harness. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent O'Kill, Police Court, Sevenoaks, Kent,— Brno- street, May 10. Stolen during the night of the 6th instant, from a field adjoining the River Thames, in the parish of Stone, near Greenhithe, Kent : a Dorset Sheep with horns, not shorn, several pitch marks on back, and was killed and takeu away in a boat. Information to be given to Superintendent Fread, Kent Constabulary, Dartford.— Bow- street, May 10. Absconded from Thornbury, Herefordshire, on the 2- 2nd ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing seven Sheep, at Burford, Salop : he gave the name of THOMAS DAVIS, 40 years of age, 5 f" et 5 or 6 inches high, fresh complexion, biown hair aud whiskers, and rather Ltout built; dressed iu a white cotton jacket, dirty cotton cord trousers, brown vest, black billycock hat, old lace- up boots, cut down the fronts. He stated that he was a native of Worcester, and had been iu the Marines ; he had over £ i>, the proceeds of the sale of the sheep, aud may buy fresh clothiug. Had a letter in his possession addressed to Green Cottage, Great Malvern Chase, Worcestershire, his worked in Wolverhampton driving a scavenger car^ Information to be given to super- intendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Clenbury Mortimer, Salop.— Bou>- street, May 10. May 14. watchmaker, supposed to belong to Norfolk, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, aud whiskers, and moustache lately grown ; dressed iu dark blue coat, with fur round the collar aud wrist, blue vest, black trousers, side- spring boots, and black round hat ; he carries a bag of tools. Information to be given to Sergeant Jackson, Soham, Cambs, who holds a warrant for bis apprehension.— Bow- street, May 14. Absconded from Eastbourne, Sussex, on the 8th instant, charged with stealing an india rubber Macintosh and a pair of Leggings, Is. 6d., aud fifty- two Newspapers, the property of his employer: a lad, about 16 years of age, about 4 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair, and medium make ; dressed in a low- crowned hat, light grey short jacket, dark trousers, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Newnham, Eastbourne, Sussex. - Bvic- st., May 14. Stolen from the house of Mrs. Eleanor Cowan, in the borough of Berwick- on- Tweed, on the 10th instant: A lady's gold Watch, maker ' William Dixon, chrono- meter maker to the Admiralty, London, No. 18939.' A gold Guard, secret link pattern. 2 gold Lockets, one small and the other large, Portrait of a gentleman in large one. A small gold Seal and a common brass Key. By a man who gave the name of H. MARTIN, alias WILLIAMS, who lodged in the house on the nights of the 8th and 9th, and stated he was employed putting up telegraph wires, and had worked at Darlington and Newcastle. He is about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, stoutly made, dark brown hair, whiskers and beard rather large, supposed slightly grey, and the nose appears to have been injured ; dressed in a blue reefing jacket, blue vest, greasy at bottom, dark trousers, cloth cap with cheesecutter peak and brass buttons, stroDg lace- up boots, well worn on soles, and was wearing the stolen watch and guard. He gives himself out as a railway official from Newcastle, aud has obtained several small sums of money by representing to people that there was a parcel lying for them at the left luggage office, Newcastle, and if they would give him the money to pay the carriage he would send it to them ; he has the appearance of a working man, and evidently knows about telegraph and railway work. Information to be given to Head Constable Garden, Berwick- on- Tweed, Northumberland, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and will pay 20s. reward for his apprehension.- Bow- street, May 14. Description of two men charged, on a warrant, with stealing 120 Pigeons, duriEg the night of the 13th ultimo, at Eccle.- iield, in the West riding of Yorkshire, which have since been recovered : JAMES CROSSLAND, labourer, of Ireland- street, Not- tingham, 29 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark com- plexion, small dark eyes, which are very tender, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, but sometimes wears a heavy moustache ; dressed wben last seen in Sheffield in long dark eoat and vest, cord trouser.-, and rough cap. GEORGE BYROM, brirklayer, belongs to Nottingham, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark com- plexion and hair ; mostly dressed as a masoD. They are notorious pigeon stealers and poachers, and frequent Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, and Yorkshire. Infoimation to be given to Superintendent Kershaw, West Biding Constabulary, Sheffield.— Bow- street, May 12. Absconded on the 3rd instant, from Chasetown, stealing £ 6 10A 2£ d. from the dwelling- house of James Motteram, with whom he Pdged : a youth who gave the name of ALFRED PALMER, alias STEADMAN, 17 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, pale face, brown hair, stammers, and is a labourer at coal pits; dressed in old worsted cap with peak, black velvet jacket, dark brown cloth vest and trousers, and new lace- up boots ; he was formerly a shoeblack at Walsall, and absconded from Fishponds, near Bristol, ou the 8th ultimo, having stolen a watch. Information ta be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills Station, near Walsall, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, May 10. Absconded on the 16th ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing £ b, the monies of his employers Messrs. Richards and Co., clock importers, 24, Cannon- street : FREDERICK W. WARD, about 24 years of age, 5 ft. 4ins. higb, light brown hair, cut short, small moustache, no whiskers, turn- up nose, large nostrils, large grey eyes, sallow complexion, high forehead, and slender make ; respectably dressed ; wears a silver watch and silver chain attached ; is a c! « rk, and a native of Leicester. £ 5 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Constable Poyntz, Borough Police Station, Nottingham.— Bow- street, May 12. Absconded from Northampton on the 22nd ultimo, charged, under the Fraudulent Debtors Act, with obtaining large quantities of goods by fraud : WILLIAM THOMAS, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, darK brown hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, whiskers rather long at sides, slight build, very clean, and good looking ; dressed when last seen in a black silk hat, black frock coat, and dark trousers, has three plain gold studs iu front of shirt, and wears a heavy linked gold albert chain. And WILLIAM JAMES THOMAS, about 38 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark brown hair, light brown whiskers and moustache, stout build, good looking, and of good address ; dressed when last seen in a black felt flat- crowned billycock hat aud a suit of green mixture cloth clothes. They have only resided in Northampton for a short time, and the names are supposed to be fictitious. .£ 10 reward will be paid to any person apprehending the said William Thomas and William James Thomas, or £ 5 for either of them. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS, Absconded on the morning of the 8th instant, charged with aa assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Jas. Parry, Ynysforgan Lledrod, Cardiganshire, farmer: MORGAN MORGANS, of Brynissa, in the same parish, labourer, about 38 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches higb, very slim, swarthy complexion, brown hair and small whiskers, very large nose and feet, and walks with an awkward swinging gait; dressed in dark cloth coat and vest, brown corduroy trousers, and jimcrow hat; can speak English fluently, having worked some years in the north of England. Absconded from Eastbourne, on the 8th instant, charged with obtaining the sum of 13s. by false pretences : a man about 4b years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, and small whiskers, turning grey; ' dressed in dark cloth suit, and high bla'.; k hat ; he is a printer, but represents himself to be an agent for soliciting advertisements for newspaper proprietors, and was accom- panied by his wife and two boys, one about 16 and the other about 8 years of age. DAY, alias MELLISH, charged on a warrant wilfc obtaining by false pretences. Goods of the value of £ 30: be is a native of Grimsby, 30 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet 9 iuclies higb, stoutly built, fresh complexion, brown hair, cut short, slight moustache, no whiskers, full face, and scar under left eye ; dressed in light cord trousers, tight fitting, dark brown framework knitted worsted vest, with sleeves, and light coloured billycock hat. Description of a man committed for trial at Bridgnorth Quarter Sessions, in July next, charged with larceny : he gave the name of HENRY CARPENTER, a native of Yeovil, Somerset, has been in the Royal Marines, and states that he belongs to the Hereford Militia, 36 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, light blue eyes, slight scar on left cheek bone, the end of nose pockmarked, and is stoutly built; works as a labourer for masons. From a bedroom at the Oddfellows' Hall, King Street, sometime between the 17th March and 2nd ulto., four new Blankets, two of them chain stitched at the ends with light worsted, the other two with scarlet worsted; two white cotton Sheets, and one blue and white Counterpane in gocd condition, the property of Mrs. Annie Entwistle, licensed victualler. From 19, Byrom Street, on the 2nd ulto., a woman's light cotten printed Dress, with blue flowers and dots, one plain flounce at the bottom, black buttons in front, and a man's black cloth Vest, singie- breasted, black covered buttons, pink cotton lining, the property of Mr. Martin Duffy, spinner, by ELLEN WALSH, who had been lodging at the house one night.
