Stolen from the person at Worcester, ou the IGth inst., a silver Geneva Watch, enamelled dial, No. 7463. Informa- tion to be given to the Worcester City Police.— Bow- street, February 19. two portraits; a gold cameo Brooch, with pendant attached, with a figure on each representing the bust of a woman, and the brooch contained the portrait of a gentleman at the back ; a pair of Ear- rings to match ; and a pair of gold. Ear- rings, each consisting of two chased rings linked, with a bar across the lower ring, in which are set a ruby aud a pearL Information to be given to Chief Constable Torrens, Town Hall, Salford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, February 24. Stolen by means of housebreaking, from the dwelling- house of John Johnson, on the 17th instant : a man's white linen Shirt, stiffened front, pearl buttons, pointed collar ; a black and white check Scarf; a thick grey cloth shooting Jacket, two pockets outside, and small cap on right side, inside left breast pocket, dark buttons ; a pair of Trousers, same material as jacket; a dark brown long Topcoat, pockets in laps behind, moth- eaten on sleeves, aud very old- fashioned. Information to be given to Superintendent Dauby, Lincoln- shire Constabulary, Brigg.— Bow-? treet, Februat y 22. Between 11 p. m. on the 14th and 7 a. m. ou the 15th instant, the dwelling- house of Joseph Crump, at Capel Cross, in the parish of Horsmonden, was broken and entered, and there was stolen therein : a pair of heavy lace- up Boots, five rows of round nails, aud much worn across the ball of foot. Supposed by a man and a boy : the man about 55 years of age, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, dark complexion ; dressed iu long frock or coat, billycock hat, and lace- up boots ; the boy is about 15 years of age : they are supposed to sleep in out- buildings. Information to be given to Superintendent Morgan, Kent Constabulary, Cranbrook.- Bow- st'eet, Feb. 19. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between G and 8 p. m. on the 21st instant, the dwelling- house of Mary Partridge, New- road, Chatham, was entered by means of skeleton keys, and stolen therein : an old- fashioned pinchbeck Watch, £ 4 10s. in Gold, and 8s. ed. in Silver. Information to be given to Superintendent Coppinger, Police Court, Chatham, Kent.— Bow- street, Febiuary 24. Stolen by means of breaking into the warehouse of Mr. Henry Fairbank, of Humbleton, East riding of York, ou the night of the 17th instant: a shoulder of Bacon, about 12 lb. ; a pair of Trousers, brown mixture cloth, nearly now; two Vests, black cloth, single breasted, nearly new ; a grey witney cloth Topcoat, about half worn ; three pairs of new Boots, women's size, one pair 53., rivetted, two pairs sewn, 7s., levant tops; a new linen bed Tick ; about 4 lbs. of groy Worsted ; and a quantity of Note Paper and Envelopes. Information to be given to Superintendent Watson, East riding Constabulary, Sproatley, Hull.— Boxo- street, Feb. 21. Stolen between 1 and 3 p. m. on the 16th instant, by means of housebreaking, from a dwelling- house iu Salford : a silver Gravy Spoon, with a Equirrel ou front & ' W. E. & H.' on back ; a large- sized ditto, marked ditto ; two silver Salt Spoons, with ' W. E. & H.' on back ; a Butter Knife, silver blade and ivory handle ; twelve electro- plated Dessert Eorks; twelve electro- plated Table Folks; two large- sized electro- plated L?. dles; twelve Table Knives, with white handles ; a gold Brooch, with gold leaves round the edges, and carbuncle stone in centre ; a pair of gold Ear- rings, with plain drop; a silver Brooch, set with an amethyst, round, which are set a number of paste diamonds; a silver Chain, with label attached, on which is engraved the word ' Bum ;' a ditto, ditto, ' Brandy ;' a miniature Portrait, representing a gentleman dressed in the costume of a century ago, with powdered hair, painted on ivory, and set in dead gold ; auu an ivory Brooch, in the shape of a serpent, with steel pin. A reward of £ 2 will be paid to any person who will give such iuformat. iou as shall lead to the apprehension of the offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion thereto. Also stolen, by means of housebreaking, between 3 and 5 p. m. on the 4th instant, from a dwelling- house in Salford : ten silver Tea Spoons, marked 1 G. ;' six- ditto, marked ' Y.;' six ditto, marked ' S. H. ;' two small ditto, not marked ; four silver Table Spoons, marked ' D. ;' two ditto, marked ' Y.;' two electro- plated Tea Spoons, marked ' D.;' a pair of silver Sugar Tongs, chased ; a pair of gold Spectacles, in green case ; a lady's gold Bing. set with one ruby and two pearls ; a gold plated Necklet, with mourning cross attached ; a lady's gold watch Chain, diamond cut cable link pattern ; two plain gold Studs ; two masonic ditto ; a pair of gold Sleeve Links ; a pair of gold plated ditto ; a silver Brooch, with the word ' Begard' enamelled on it in silver letters; a plain silver Fruit Knife ; a silver Fruit Knife, with pearl handle; an oval shaped reversible Brooch, set on one side with a ruby, round which are four pearls, chased, and has a place for a portrait on the other; a gold mourning Locket, with a strap across it, on which are the words ' In memory of,' containing HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Charged with stealing a Bullock, the property of Mr. James Jones, of the Wells Farm, Cradley, near Malvern ( since recovered), on the 17th instant. A man, about - 10 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, 6tout build, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers, iucliued to be sandy ; dressed in dark grey coat or jacket, light coloured trousers, and new soft billycock hat. Has the appearance of a farm bailiff. Information to be given to Superintendent Har- wood, Bromyard, or to Sergeant Ovens, Cradley, near Malvern, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, February 26. Stolen during the night of the 12th instant, from Central Hill, Norwood : a brown Horse, 14£ bands high, aud a black Mare 14 hands high, with rough coat ; also two milk Carts, with ' T. French, Gipsy Hill Dairy,' on both sides; ' Pure Milk aud Cream,' on tail- board ; and Three Sets of Harness, brass mounted.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, February 24. Found at Aldridge ( supposed to have been stolen), on the 5tli instant, seven Heifers, four red & white, one red, one black, and one white. Found at Wacton Court, near Bromyard, on the 2ud instant: an aged mare Pony, about 13 hands high, dark brown or bay, star on forehead, saddle maiks on back, of Welsh breed, and is supposed to have been stolen. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Harwood, Bromyard, or to Mr. Timmins, Wacton Court, Herefordshire.— Bos- street, February/ 19. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Hannah Wells, at New Holland, on the 22nd instant: a pair of black velvet Bracelets, gold clasps, set round with pearls ; a pair of Bracelets, either gold or plated beads, largo clasps, with grey stoues in centre ; a pair of Bracelets, jet round, aud long beads strung on elastic , a pair of silver sleeve Links ; a gold finger ^ iug ; and a gold scarf Bing. By JOSEPH WILLIAMS, a mau who lodged in the house, about 35 year* of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stoutly built, swarthy complexion, biown hair aud whiskers, has a scar on forehead from right eyebrow to top of nose ; dressed iu a cloth reefer jacket, cloth vest and trousers, black and white scarf, blue serge shirt, soft billy hat, and laced boots ; was traced to Hull, where he pawned the sleeve liuks and scarf ring ; he is 1 supposed to be well known at lvetford, York, Bo3tou, and London; stated he worked for a firm of patent signal erectors. Warrant issued. Information to be given to Superintendent Fuller, Barton- on- Humber, Lincolnshire.—! Bow- street, February 26. Description of HENRY THOMPSON, charged in the borough of Leeds, as a fraudulent bailee : he is from 40 to 50 ye.'. rs of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, thin build, no beard or moustache, ruddy complexion, smooth hair, turning grey, wears spectacles, walks slightly lame of one foot; is a reader iu a reporter's office. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow street, February 26. Stolen from a lodging- house in Middlesborough, on the 22nd instant : a pepper- and- salt- coloured cloth shooting Coat, niau's size, trimmed with bone buttons, the top one of a different kind ; a Vest, made of same material ; a pair of new black cottou cord Trousers, with full fall; and a pair of elastic Braces. By EDWARD CALVERT, a labourer or horse driver, a native of Thirsk, North Riding of Yorkshire, about 23 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh looking, squints with both eyes, short to^ gued, light whiskers meeting under the chin, and short cuily hair ; dressed when last seen in an old light cloth coat, slack backed, vest similar, old dark cloth trousers with blue stripes, scarf of different colours, stiff body hat, and had with him three bundles. He was tried at Northallerton Sessions on the 16th October, 1872, and sentenced to 12 months imprisonment and 5 years police supervision, and he should report himself monthly to the police. Information tc be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesborough, Yorkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 26. Stolen on the 14th instant, from the dwelling- house of Joseph Dunn, of Portobello, in the township of WilJenhall : a silver verge Watch, No. 4124 ; a pair of Stockings and a flag Basket. By a man w ho took lodgings at Dunn's house, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, sandy hair, cut very short, very long thick sandy whiskers, meeting under the chin, top lip thick, and gave the name of GEORGE HOWERS, proper name GEO. THOMAS ; had on a very low hard hat, dark cloth jacket, with pockets each side, dark striped vest, aud clogs. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Inspector Gasson, Police Office, Willenhall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, February 26. Stolen on the 19th or 20th instant, from a dwelling- house at Slough, Bucks : a sealskin Purse, with beads round, containing £ 4 in Gold; a small double- case silver Watch, front case broken off, and glass out, a gold albert Chain, with Seal attached ; a lady's gold Guard, with silver Key, amber Heart, and a small piece of silver Coin attached ; six odd silver Tea Spoons, very old, one supposed marked ' W.;' a silver Pencil- case ; a small silver Thimble ; a leather Cigar I Case ; and a lady's gold Bing, with stone out, the place filled up wilh red wax. Supposed by a man who lodged in the I house on the night of the 19th instant, from 25 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, veiy full red face, no , whiskers or moustache, sandy hair, cut short, and stoutly built; dressed in au old grey cloth Chesterfield overcoat, dark check cloth trousers and vest, black and white plaid scarf, and hard black felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, rclice Court, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- itreet, February 24. Stolen on the 3rd instant, from the dwelling- house of Joseph Halfpenny, of Diglake- street, Audley : a black and grey mixture cloth Waistcoat, and 16s. 6d. in Money. By a man who had been lodging at the house a few nights, about 33 years of pge, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, no whiskers or moustache, has an old cut on left temple, and has lost fourth right finger ; dressed in black cloth coat and waistcoat, cloth trousers, with black stripes down the sides, cloth cap, with peak, and clogs, all much worn and shabby. He is a collier, aud stated that he had previously worked at Cannock Chase. Information to be given to Sergeant Stanton, Police Office, Chesterton, near Newcistle- uuder- Ljme.— Boio- strect, February 24. Stolen from a dwelling- house in Worcester, on the 20th instant : about £ 20 in Gold, a pair of plaid Trousers, a Vest, ' a large Hat Brush, six silver Tea Spoons and a pair of Sugar Tongs, all marked'A. n.' By a lodger, who stated ! that he was a paper hanger, and was dressed iu blue round i j lcket, with fur collar and cuffs. He carried a small black square Box, with brass handle on the top. Information to be given to the Worcester City Police.— Bow- street, Feb. 24. Description of WILLIAM MANCLARK, a labourer or coal agent, who absconded from Leitb, on the 30th nit., charged with stealing various sums of Money, the property of his employers Messrs. James Waldia and Sons, coal merchants, Edinburgh and Leith : about 52 years of age, | 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stoutly made, round face, dark hau- and whiskers, slightly mixed with grey, and had a sore on 1 under lip ; dressed in dark tweed trousers, dark tweed vest, with moleskin back and sleeves, blue pilot cloth jacket or short coat, and a blue cloth cap, with peak. He belongs to Fife, and was recently employed at the Edinburgh ( Scotland ' Street) Railway Station ; he will probably seek employment as a labourer, time keeper, or coal agent. Information to be given to Superintendent Grant, Leith, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bju- iircei, February 24. Absconded fron Shrewsbury, on the 17th instant, charged with stealing from the workshop of Messrs. Corbet & Peele, iuiplemeut manufacturers, of Shrewsbury : two pairs of steel , Compasses ; EDWIN DAVIES, alias CHANT, a driller, I 19 years of age, 0 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, thin face, brown hair, dark eyes, cut mark on left eyebrow, two burn inaiks on right forearm ; dressed iu dark brown jacket, much worn, smeared with paint on sleeves, dark tweed trousers, nearly new, with narrow stripes, blue slop under- neath jacket, woollen muffler, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Head Constable Davies, Shrewsbury.— Bow- street, February 24. Stolen iu the borough of Blackburn on the 13th instant: From the Saint Leger Hotel, King William- street: a lady's gold blank lever Watch, engine- turned case, far worn, gold dial, No. 5423, had attached a gold Guard, link pattern, the property of Mr. George Duerden. From the King's Head Inn, King- street: a gold Geneva Watch, about the size of a crown piece, chased back, white dial, blue steel hands, white metal dome. The case has been 2 POLICE GAZETTE, February 26 repaired near the stud, No. 35135, had attached a gold plated Guard, the property of Mr. Roger Greaves. From the Nag's Head Inn, Northgate : a lady's silver Geneva hunting Watch, has two dials, oue in the case so that the time cau be seen without opening it, the iuuer dial black figures, the outer oue blue figures, No. 58959, the property of Mr. William Billington. From the Old Bank Hotel, Back- lane : a silver Geneva Watch, with white dial, gold hands, had a black jet Guard attached, the property of Miss Annie Greenwood. By GEORGE McBEAN, alias GEORGE CHARLES McBEAN, about 30 years of age, 5 feet inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown hair, iuclined to curl, no whiskers, dark moustache, grey eyes, full oval face, good teeth, speaks fluently, and is of very good address ; dressed in a long dark overcoat, black velvet collar, dark trousers, and black silk hat, and often carries a silk umbrella; he is a billiard marker, anil a native of Inverness, Scotland. He has been convicted at Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, and ( supposed} in Man- chester and Newcastle- upon- Tyne ; he enters bedroonjs in hotels, and if detected, inquires for a billiard- room. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Potts, Police Oilier, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire, who holus a warrant for his apprehension.— Boa- street, February 24. Stolen at 5 a. m. on the lGth instant, from the dwelling- house of James Jervis, at Oakengates, Salop : a black cloth Jacket, much woru, with pockets 011 hips, and one iuside left breast, made to fit a youth about 17 ; a pair of greeu aud black plaid Trousers, with black metal buttons aud flap fronts, nearly new ; aud < ai old,' verge Watch, German silver- cases, and but of repair, with a steel curb Chain attached. By GEORGE BAILEY, labourer, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, dark hair aud complexion, little or no whiskers , dressed in the stolen jacket, old moleskin trousers, patched on the right knee with corduroy, old black cloth vest, old watertight shoes, and Hack billycock hat; was liberated from Stafford Gaol about a fortnight ago, after serving a term of imprisonment for larceny ; he is a, native of Hinstock, Solop, and will seek employment as a labourer. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Merricks, Oakengates, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Feb. 2- 2. Description of JAMES CARPENTER, charged on a warrant with embezzlent at Manchester : about 38 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, large deep sunken eyes, large black beard, black moustache, black eyebrows, lame of oue leg, and dresses respectably. He absconded a few days since, and it is supposed that he will attempt to leave the country, as he collected a large sum of money between the 8th aud 15th instant. Information to be given to Chief Constable Palin, Manchester.— Bow- street, February 22. way at Packington, near Lichfield, on the 21st'instant: both about c5 years of age, of medium height, dark brown hair, one had a small dark moustache, the other small dark whiskers round his face, both of slender build, and saliow complexion ; dressed in drab slops, cord trousers, very old shoes, cut in the fronts, and black billycock hats. They had the appearance of tramping navvies. Information to be given to Sergeant Hammond, Police Office, Shenstone, near Lichfield.— Bow- street, February 26. FRAUDS AMD AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS' Absconded from Eton, Bucks, charged with obtaining Food and Money by false pretences on the 16th instant: HENRY WILLIAMS, a boilermaker, who tramps the country, about 42 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, very much pockmarked, blind of left eye, brown whiskers, shaved on chiu, moustache clipped short, aud of dirty appear- ance ; dressed in dark clothes and felt hat. He has au impediment in his speech when excited, and when in drink states that he is a member 9f the Beresford fa^ njijy and Lord Waterford's family, also states he is a member Of the Carlton Club, and that he belongs to the Amalgamated Society of Boilermakers ; he lodges at public- houses near iron foundries and smith's yards. Information to be given to Superinten- dent Dunham, Police Court, Slough, Bucks, or to Inspector Pearman, Eton, Bucks, whoi holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February 26. Absconded, charged with conspiracy: J. BAXTER, 27, George- street, Chelsea, 27 years of tige, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, dark hair, slight whisk'ei- s ( sometimes shaved off.) £ 5 reward. Warrant issued. Information to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Depart- ment, Great Scotland Yard, London.— Bow- street, Feb. 26. Absconded from Windsor, Berks, chaaged with obtaining Money under false pretences at Slough, Bucks, on the 8th instant : AMY BARNETT, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, full light eyes, full round fat face, and very stoutly built; dressed in brown dress, bla'ck cloth jacket, black velvet hat, with blue and black feathers, and brown fall ; supposed to be iu the neighbourhood of the Tower, London, and to accompany soldiers, Information to be given to Superintendent Dunham, Police Court, Slough, Bucks, who holds a warraut for her appreheusion.— Bow- street, February 19. Charged on a warrant with conspiracy: W. MATTHEWS, 33 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, darlj complexion, hair, and moustache ; dressed as a mechanic ; is a cabinetmaker, and has friends at Plymouth.— Metropolitan Filice, E Division, Februay 19. Foster aud Co., Cambridge, iugthe piano at public- houses and music- halls ; was engaged js remanded till the 23rd instant. Information to he given as pantaloon at the theatre at Halifax, Yorkshire, up to a to Superintendent Long, Linton, Cambs.— Bow- st., Feb. 19. fortnight ago. Information to be giveu to Chief Constable Williams, Police Office, Hanley, Staffordshire, who holds a • warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, February, 2.2. Further information respecting the cabinetmaker's Tools stolen from the premises of Francis Leeke, Wellington, during the night of the 24th ultimo, and advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 27th ultimo. A warrant" has been granted against WILLIAM WILLIAMS, a tramping cabinetmaker, 43 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, has a lump of flesh or wen under left ear, scar over left eye, birth- mark on left shoulder, and was born at Cardigan, where his wife and two children still are ; dressed iu a dirty brown suit of clothes. He has been to sea as a ship's carpenter, and may try to ship again. He was convicted at Llanelly Petty Sessions, 27th July, 1870, and sentenced to 4, month'a imprisonment, for stealing carpenter's Tools; Bridgend Petty Sessions, July 19th, 1873, larceny, 21 days ;. Swansea Quarter Sessions, October 14th, 1873, three charges of larceny and housebreaking, and sentenced to 4 month's imprisonment on each charge, iu Cardiff Gaol, front which place , he was liberated on October 13th, 1874. He has worked for Mr. Peirce, cabiuet maker, Wrexham, for G weeks since his discharge. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, Salop.— Bow- street, February 22. Absconded from Rosedale Abbey, on the 11th instant, charged with stealing a ham ( recovered), the property of John Thomas Lee, innkeeper : WM.
