Motlce.— It ia requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolon property, may bear tlic Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with tho Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all letters addressed to the Editor HlllSt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. The Names and Descriptions of Deserters from the Army, and of Absentees and Deserters from the Militia, should be forwarded en War Office Eorms 88 and 88A, to the Editor, as above, for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE. INFORMATIONS. MUEBEE AID MALICIOUSLY WOMDING. Absconded from Italy in January, 1874, charged with murder: ANGELO MASI, alias RONCOLO, alias RONCOLO RISTORI, a trombone player, 30 years of a about 5 feet 10 inches high, proportionately made, and well dressed ; supposed to be playing in the provinces. Informa- tion to be given to Superintendent Williamson, Detective Department, Great Scotland- yard, London, who holds warrant ( pursuant to the Extradition Acts), for the appre- hension of Masi.— Bow street, January 27. About 1' 40 p. m. on the 14th instant, the dead Body of a newly- born male child was found in a new building in Bolton, wrapped in a piece of brown paper and about a yard of grey calico, with narrow red striped border. On the 16th instant, an inquest was held, and a verdict was returned ot • Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown, evidence having been given that the deceased had been strangled with a cord. Information to be given to Chief Constable Beech, Borough Police Offices, Town Hall, Bolton- le- Moors, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 20. On the morning of the 15th instant, the dead body of a male child, about 14 days old, was found in the Manchester, Sheffield, and Lincolnshire Canal, in the township of Sutton, supposed to have been in the water 7 or 8 days. At the coroner's inquest, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Superintendent Dale, County Police Station, Macclesfield, Cheshire.— Bow- street, January 20. £ 50 reward will be paid " by Her Majesty's Government to any person giving such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery aud conviction of EMILY RICHARDS, alias ELLEN RAPSON, who is charged with the wilful murder of her infant male child, by throwing him down a well or shaft at Cusvath Coom, near Chacewater, in the county of Cornwall, on the 10th ultimo. An inquest was held on the body of the said child on the lst instant, and a verdict of ' Wilful murder' returned against the said Emily Richards, who is a married woman, 29 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, rather stout, full black eyes, very dark hair, false upper and lower front teeth, and rather pleasing appearance ; dressed iu black straw hat, black fall, dark seal- skin jacket, black silk dress, and red woollen scarf round her neck and shoulders ; some of her clothing is marked with the letters ' E. K.' Information to be given to Chief Constable Gilbert, BodmiD, or to Superintendent Marshall, Truro, Cornwall. — Bow- street, January 20. silver handle ; and 4s. 5d. in Money. Information to be given to Chief Constable Norris, City Police Office, Coventry, Warwick.— Bow- street, January 27. Between 8 and 10 p. m., on the 20th instant, a pawnshop in Blackburn was broken and entered, and stolen therein : 6 or 7 plated hair 4- bugle pendant Albert Chains. 8 plated, round and octagon, Albert Chains. 5 gold- cased Lockets. 2 ditto Watch Seals. And from 10s. to 15s. in Copper Money. The property of Mr. Thomas Ileury Lund, pawnbroker, 58, Ring- street. £ 5 reward will be given for information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders on application to Chief Constable Potts, Town Hall, Blackburn, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 25. Between 6 a. m. and 1 p. m. on the 19th instant the cot- tage of Henry Doleman, of Groby, near Leicester, was broken into and stolen therein : about £ 23 in Gold and 20s. in Silver monies; a small silver Geneva Watch, silver dial, chased back, steel hands, cable pattern, with gold Guard attached ; and a Meerschaum Pipe, silver mounted, curved stem, in a carved oak Case. Information to be given to Superintendent Moore, Belgrave, Leicestershire.— Bow- street, January 22. About 6 p. m. on the 17th instant, a dwelling- house in Middlesborough was entered by means of skeleton keys, and stolen therein : 1 set of round geld Ear- rings and Brooch, set with garnets. 1 gold Ring, set with three corals and six diamonds. 2 gold Rings, set with emeralds '• nd rubies. 1 set of plain gold Ear- rings and Brooch. 1 set of Australian gold Ear- rings and Brooch, set with white stones. 1 silver Brooch. 1 gold Locket, with the portrait of an elderly man and woman in it. 1 lady's long gold Guard. 1 gold Neckchain, with small Locket attached. 1 pair of gold Sleeve Links, vine leaf pattern. 1 blue enamelled gold Locket. £ 5 or £ 6 in Gold, and £ 3 or £ 4 in Silver. The offender or offenders left behind them a skeleton key, a steel jemmy, two ordinary door keys, some wax matches, aud a pair of thin- soled low shoes, with five brass lace- holes on each side, and worn out at toes. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Police. Office, Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, January 20. Stolen on the 18th instant, from Denmark- hill, Camber- well, a bay Horse, 6 years old, 16 hands high, half shoes behind, shaggy mane.— Metropolitan Police, P Division, January 22. Stolen from a field at Bourton, Buckingham, on the 13th instant, a dark brown Cob, aged, about 14£ hands high, it) good condition, star on forehead, the legs have been trimmed, and tail cut short, scar on one hind leg, the below hock supposed now to be covered with hair. Information to be given to Superintendent Howe, Buckingham.— Bow- street, January 22. Stolen on the 13th instant, from Buxton- road, Mile- end : a bright bay Mare, 15 hands high, both hind and near fore feet white, star on forehead, in good condition ; and a set of silver- plated Harness. By a man, 38 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, and large whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, January 20. FOEGEEY. Absconded from Melksham, Wilts, on the 31st ultimo, charged with forging and uttering a Cheque for £ 24 8s., on the Wilts and Dorset Bank, at Trowbridge : a man, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches higb, fresh complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache, of good address, frequents first class hotels, and is very talkative ; supposed dressed in black frock coat, light trousers, and high- crowned black hat. Whoever will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders shall receive £ 50 reward. Information to be given to Inspector Luffman, Melksham, Wilts.— Bow- street, January 22. BURGLARY AMD HOUSE EEEAKI1G. On the night of the 24th instant, a dwelling- house in Coventry, was broken aud entered, by forcing a window, apparently with a jemmy, one inch in width, and stolen therein : four silver table Spoons, marked ' J. E. M.' ; four silver Porks, small size, marked ' J. E. M.'; a silver fish Carver, pearl handle ; a silver fish Fork, pearl handle ; a silver sugar Sifter, lined with gold ; a silver butter Knife,, CATTLE ST3SALIWG. Stolen on the evening of the 21st instant, from the premises of Mr. Aaron Hibberd, at Handley, Dorset: a brown Hackney Horse, 3 years old, 15 hands high, short tail, which has been docked, white stripe down the face, the off fore fetlock aud the two hind ones white, ring worms about the neck, and was unshod ; and a double- reined Bridle, with curb bit. The horse was sold at Romsey, Hants, on the 22nd instant, by a man of the following description, who is charged with stealing the tame : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 3 iuches high, dark complexion, black whiskers, round face, thin features, and has lost the first joint of little finger on right hand ; dressed in a dark monkey jacket, dark green or black trousers, black soft round hat, and lace- up boots. He is supposed to have taken a ticket at Romsey Railway Station for Portsmouth, and took the stolen bridle with him. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable, Hammond, Dorset Constabulary, Wimborne.— Bow- street, January 27. Stolen during the night of the 24th instant, from a field at Faringdon : three Colts of the folio wing description : a bay cart Mare, 2 years old, 14 hands higb, one hind leg white, and white star on forehead ; another a dark brown nag Mare, 2 years old, 14 hands high, white star on forehead ; and the other a dark brown nag Mare, 2 years old, 13 hands high; all have long manes and tails, and have never been shod. Information to be given to Superintendent Reece, Faringdon, Berks.— Bow- street, January 27. Stolen on the night of the 22nd instant, from Oakham : a dark brown thoi ough- bred Mare, rising 4 years old, about 15 hands 1 inch high, piece of hair off point of shoulder, slight blemish from kick outside near hind leg, between hock and fetlock, the mare is only partially broken ; also a plain flap Saddle, recently newly pannelled, new girths, dark blue colour, stirrups nearly new, markad ' Champion, Oxford- st.'; a double reined Bridle, nearly new ; an old Breastplate, a strap off near side ; a hunting Whip, with brown leather thong ; and a brown- coloured horse Rug, with black and red stripe, marked ' R. T.' in monogram ( all recovered). By groom, who is remanded until the lst instant, about 30 years of age, nearly 6 feet higb, brown hair, sandy whiskers, fresh complexion, and appears to be well educated ; dressed in dark mixture double- breasted coat, much too small for him, dark blue livery vest, with plated buttons and crest, dark mixture trousers, with white stripe, coloured scarf, and may be wearing a coloured felt hat or cap, lace- up boots, with plates on heels ; he disposed of a pair of ladies Stockings, silk open work feet, and initialed ' M. L. B. 2' with red cotton. Information to be given to the Chief Constate of Rutland, Oakham.— Bow- street, January 27. LASLCEarc AMD EMBEiZIEM^ If. Description of SARAH YATES, charged with stealing on the 19th instant, a Bonnet, two Shawls, a Dress, a Petti- coat, and a Bible : 19 years of age, 5 feet high, fresh complexion, brown hair, and rather long nose. She lowers her head when walking and talking, and is supposed to be iu North Staffordshire. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Hill, Brownhills, Walsall, who holds a warrant for her apprehension.— Bow- street, January 27. Absconded from Solihull, Warwickshire : THOMAS SYDNEY EVANS, agent to Messrs. Hackett aud Co., Cannock Chase Coal Company, charged with embezzlement : he is 26 to 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stoutly made, full facc, fresh complexion, light hair, small grey eyes, small mouth, thick neck, no whiskers ; is well dressed, and generally wears a box hat. Information to be given to Inspector Welch, Solihull, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Jauuary 27. Abscond*! from the Collier's Arms, Llantwit, Yardre, Glamorganshire, on the 13th instant,- charged with - stealing about £ 100 in Gold and Silver, and a quantity of female'a wearing Apparel; the property of David John, the landlord : GEORGE THOMAS, a carpenter, 45 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, fresh complexion, full round face, brown hair, supposed no whiskers, and reddish moustache ; dressed generally in dark suit, brown overcoat, nearly new, and black bowler hat; accompanied by a woman, 45 years of age, short build, thin features, pale complexion, darK hair, turning grey, lost front teeth, first and third fingers of right hand deformed, and crooked at second joint; dressed in a grey waterproof cloak, and supposed black bonnet. A handsome reward will be paid for the apprehension of Gqorge Thomas, and recovery of the property. They have in their possession a large brown box, a trunk, an old box, and a frail of carpenter's tools ; they may endeavour to emigrate, he has been in America before, and a native of Feryside, Carmar- thenshire, but nas been living at Llanelly. They left Quaker's Yard Railway Station by the 1- 9 p. m. train, on the 13th instant, booked for Manchester, the boxes were labelled there also; he stated before he left that he was going to Birmingham or Chester. Information to be given to Super- intendent Matthews, Police Office, Pontypridd, Glamorgan- shire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension,— Bow- street, January 27. Stolen on the 22nd instant, from Cavendish- street, Hoxton : a small Cash Box, containing £ 19 in Gold and Silver ; two Cheques, one for £ 13 6s., in the name of Bragge, the other for £ 4 10s., iu the name of Barber ; two Post Office Savings Bank Books ; a silver lever Watch ; and a gold albert Chain, Cross attached. By a woman, 23 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair complexion, and dark brown hair; dressed in black shawl and bonnet,— Metropolitan Police, N Division, January 27. Stolen from a hen- house in the borough of Preston, on the 14th instant; eight Hens, of different colours. By JOHN HARDIKER, 24 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, dark hair cut short, stiffly built, broad round face ; dressed in a black cloth coat, dark mixture trousers, striped cloth vest, cloth cap, clogs, and black and white plaid scarf. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 25. Stolen from a dwelling- house in the borough of Preston, on the 20th instaut : a pair of military Wellington Boots, newly soled,' marked at top ' 17 29 D. G.;' a pair of elastic- side Boots, block fronts, nearly new ; and a blue ribbed cloth Coat, nearly new. By RICHARD NICHOLSON, 27 years of age, 5 feet 6|- inches high, fresh complexion, grey eyes, auburn hair, little fiuger of right hand crooked, anchor on left forearm, ' R. Nicholson' on left arm ; has been convicted of begging in Yorkshire, is a native of Bradford, and well known in Lancaster and Blackburn. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, January 25. Descripton of HENRY RABSON, or RANSOM, charged, on warrant, with embezzling Money belonging to Mr. George Gillam, fishmonger, of Brighton : about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 0 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown curly hair, dark brown whiskers and moustache, rather down- looking, proportionately made, has had a bad leg aud • wall;-! rather badly, and is. left handed ; generally wears a fur 2 POLICE GAZETTE. January cap or round felt hat. He is supposed to have gone to London, where he will no doubt try for employment at a fish- monger's ; he worked at Richmond, Surrey, sometime ago. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton. — Bow- street, January 25. Description of a man who gave the name of HARRY GOFF, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 11 8s. from his lodgings, 21, Trinity- place, Reading : 36 to 40 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache, upper front teeth deficient; dressed in blue serge jacket with brass buttons, dark trousers and vest, brown cloth cap with lappets and peak ; he has occasionally worked as a fitter, engine driver, or stoker. His right name is believed to be JOHN MILLS, against whom a warrant was issued ( see Police Gazette of 13th April, 1866.) Information to be given to Superintendent Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading, Berks.— Bow- street, Jan. 25. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement in the City of London : SIDNEY COOKE, 45 years of age, medium height, stoutly built, thick black moustache, respectable appearance, is a clerk, and was formerly captain of a ship plying between Liverpool and New York. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Depart- ment, 26, Old Jewry, E. C .- Bow- street, January 25. Description of JAMES MARTIN, a bricklayer's labourer, charged on a warrant with stealing at Stapenhill on the 16th instant a hen Fowl, the property of Mr. Henry Wardle: 17 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, dark brown hair, grey eyes, light complexion ; dressed in cord trousers, white slop, topcoat, black cloth cap, without peak, clogs with three rows of nails in the soles, his clothing is dirty from carrying - bricks and mortar, and he will probably apply for work at builders or at brickyards. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Police Station, Woodville, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, January 25. Further information respecting GEORGE ALBERT SKELLEY, charged with stealing a double- breasted pilot cloth Jacket and Vest and a pair of Boots from Market Drayton ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 8th instant): he is about 28 years of age, but little over 5 feet high, has a long body, very short legs, and dark brown hair ; he has stated that his proper name is ALFRED GEORGE SHELLEY, that he is a native of Gloucestershire, and served his apprenticeship in London, that his father was in engineer, and was killed by accident on a railway some years ago, and that he has a sister living, and a relative, a cork- cutter, in Bristol. Information to be given to Superintendent Haines, Whitchurch, or to Sergt. Howells, Market Drayton, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 25. Absconded on the 21st instant, from Forest- road, Dalston, embezzling £ 35 : a man, 33 years of age, 5 feet 7 inaheshigh, ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, light brown beard, whiskers, and moustache, inclined to be sandy, ring on fourth linger right hand, imitation of a dog's collar ; dressed in blue serge monkey jacket, black cloth overcoat, trousers, and vest, black necktie, and high black hat, with mourning band.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, January 25. Stolen on the 20th instant, from Sutterton- street, Islington : a gold Watch ; a silver ditto ; a gold Neckchain ; four gold Lockets ; five gold Rings; a gold diamond Pin ; a pair of jet Ear- rings; an eight- day mahogany Timepieee ; a Flute; three Bank Books ; £ 7 10s. in cash ; a child's Money- box ; a Counterpane ; two Sheets ; six coarse Towels; a fancy Workbox ; a sills Umbrella ; and a few Coins. By a man 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light hair and whiskers; dressed in blue monkey jacket, plaid vest and trousers, and billycock hat; and a woman, 36 years of age, 5 feet high, fresh complexion, black hair; dressed in black, blue rough jacket, and black bonnet.— Metropolitan Police, Y Division, January 25. Absconded, charged with stealing a Watch and a con- siderable quantity of Jewellery ( consisting of Lockets, finger Rings, shirt Studs, Brooches, scarf Pins, Albert and Guard Chains, & c., of imitation gold and gold- plated), on the night of the 14th instant, from a shop in Dumblane : BERNARD M'GUIRE, alias JAS. MARTIN, alias DAVID MARTIN or WILKIE, & c., a travelling watchmaker or jeweller, who is about 33 years of age, 5 feet 8^ inches high, stout make, dark brown hair, thin dark whiskers and moustache, small dark imperial, round face, pale complexion, rather good- looking, hazel eyes, Roman nose, slightly bald on forehead, small mark of cut or burn on top of head, slightly bow- legged, and stoops a little; supposed to be a native of Ire- land, but speaks with a Scotch accent, and has a good address; dressed in a grey shooting coat and vest ( doublo- breasted), dark grey striped tweed trousers, blue pilot overcoat with dark velvet collar and bound with black braid, magenta scarf, large soft black billycock hat, and elastic- side boots well worn, He is known to the police in several counties of Scotland, and has been convicted of theft in Cupar, Fife, Inverness, Alloa, and Dumblane ; was liberated from the General Prison, Perth, on the 14th ultimo, after undergoing a sentence of twelve months for a similar theft. The watch and part of the stolen property has been recovered. Infor- mation to be given to the Chief Constable, Perth, or to Super- intendent Steuart, Dumblane, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bovi- street, January 25. Stolen on the 18th instant, from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Stirrup, of Smethwick : a man's black cloth Coat, velvet collar, double- breasted; a pair of light cord Trousers, nearly new; a gold- plated watch Guard, snake pattern; a gold pencil Case ; a meerschaum Pipe; and 5s. in Money. By a lodger who represented himself as an engine- fitter, and who slept in the house on the two previous nights ; he is about 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark curly hair, long features, no whiskers or moustache, crooked or flat nose, has a mark of an old wound on forehead ; dressed in a black tommy hat, round blue serge jacket, grey trousers, elastic- side boots, or he may be wearing the stolen clothes ; when in company he speaks a good deal about engines and engine fitting. Information to be given to Inspector McWilliams, Police Station, Smethwick, near Birmingham, Warwickshire.— Bow- street, January 22. Stolen during the night of the 18th instant, from an out- house at Gawsworth : fourteen black Hens; five pheasant Hens; a black and light- coloured breast Hen ; and a pheasant Cock. Information to be given to Superintendent Dale, Cheshire Constabulary, County Police Station, Macclesfield.— Bow- street, January 22. Description o£ BENJAMIN LANGTON, alias BENJAMIN COLES, who is charged with stealing a quantity of clothing and household effects, which he conveyed from Oxford in two boxes by the Great Western Railway at 2" 55 p. m, on the 11th instant, and is supposed to have booked through from Oxford to Moorgate- street: he is about' 45 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, pale complexion, has the apearance of sore eyes, very slight eyebrows and lashes, very long face, large mouti, hair cut short, and daik brown moustache, left leg coidtracted at the hip, causing him to wear a high heeled boo*; dressed in black coat and waist- coat, light trousers, hard felt hat, and carried a fishing rod which is part of the stolen property ; he is a shoemaker, and is supposed to be well acquainted with London, and stated that he had been charged with the larceny of a watch at his lodgings, but was discharged. Information to be given to Superintendent Head, Oxford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, January 22. Absconded from Wolverhampton, on the I5th instant, charged with embezzling and stealing the following property, belonging to Mr. Zusman Zusman : thirteen gold Chains and Guards, initialled ' J. M.'; eight gold Watches, Nos, 71172, 71170, 71520, 30591, 3508, 72034, 44203, and 22704 ; and eleven silver Watches, Nos. 43595, 11728, 38072, 34819, 34626, 34630, 34988, 21752, 47349, 46376, and 34967: SOLOMON COHEN, a travelling jeweller and licensed pedlar, formerly of St. Peter's- road, Mile End, London, 25 years of age, looks younger, 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, florid complexion, and slight moustache, upper lip projects, and slender build ; dressed in a blue coat, with imitation fur on collar, grey plaid trousers and vest, and black silk hat. £ 25 reward will be paid by Mr. Zusman Zusman, to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the said Solomon Cohen, and recovery of the property stolen, or a reward in proportion to the value recovered. Information to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Town Hall, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- streeJanuary 22. Description of a man who calls himself JAMES BOYD, remanded at Wick on a charge of theft: 34 years of age, 5 feet llj inches high, very dark brown hair, whiskers shaved off, wears thick black moustache, round full face, and dark complexion, cut on lower lip, and a sword wound on right side, just above the thigh ; he is a travelling cutler, says he was born at Liverpool, and now resides in Glasgow, was in the Scots Greys, in which regiment he served through the Crimean War, and was discharged on a pension of Is. 3d. per day; dresses in dark tweed suit, black cloth cap with peak, and laced boots. Also charged in connection with Boyd, a pedlar named ANDREW MACDONALD, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, bushy red hair and whiskers ; dressed in dark tweed coat, dark cloth trousers and vest, speaks a broad Yorkshire dialect, aud is accompanied by his wife and three chldren ; he left Wick on his way South, about 10 days ago. His certificate was endorsed at Wick on the 20th June last. He is to be apprehended and detained. Stolen from a lockfast drawer in a bed- room in Mrs. Linton's eating- house, Fore- street, Hexham, between 1 and 10 p. m. on the 16th instant: a small wooden Cash Box. containing a £ 5 Bank of England Note ; £ 15 10s. in Gold; 17s. 6d. in Silver; a lady's gold dress Ring, with ' W. Linton, died 20th May, 1874' engraved on the inside, an anchor, heart, aud cross on the outside, and set with hair round the centre on the outside. Supposed by three men who were in the room where the cash box was afterwards found empty about 5 p. m. : one man was about 22 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slender make, fresh com- plexion, rather round face, light hair, slight whiskers down the cheeks, no moustache ; dressed in dark clothes, and high hat. Another from 30 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet 3 or 4 ins. high, well made, dark complexion, dark hair, dark short whiskers round the face, no moustache; dressed in dark clothes, and high hat. And the other about 25 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, light complexion, pale face, light hair, no whi? kers or moustache ; dressed in dark clothes, and long hat; carried a mackintosh overcoat. It has been ascertained that the above men left Hexham by the 5- 49 p. m. train on the 16th, for Carlisle, at which place they were in an eating: house about 10' 30 p. m. ; they there stated that they were going to London by the midnight train, but it has been found that no such persons took tickets for London by that train, but that a man answering the descrip- tion of the tallest of the three purchased 3 tickets for Manchester by the train wkich leaves Carlisle at 12' 47 a. m.
