Description of a man who was seen in the neighbourhood of Crewe, on the morning of the 25th or 26th ultimo, aud who is suspected of the murder of James Beech, at Betchton, on the 23rd ultimo, and for the apprehension aud conviction • of which murder a reward of XI00 is offered : he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, stout made, light com- plexion, whiskers turning grey, and round features ; dressed in a straight dark- coloured jacket, a pair of old moleskin trousers, very dirty double- breasted moleskin vest, with flaps • on the pockets, and old soft billycock hat, striped cotton • shirt, saturated with blood, and an old plaid neckerchief, with blood on it. Information to be given at the County Police Office, Chester, or any Police Station in the county of Chester. — Bow- street, October 26. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen between 10 and 11 p. m. ou the 2ad instant, from the person of Thomas Darwent, of Sheffield, publican, in the Fair ground at Rotherham : a gold hunting Watch, No. 53793, maker H. Stuart, Liverpool. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillett, West Riding Constabulary, Court House, Rotherham, Yorkshire.— Bow street, JS'oe. 4. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the race course, Newmarket, on the 27th ultimo: a gold Geneva Watch, white dial, No. 21819 ; also at the same time a thick gold Chain, with long links, connected by three rings. Informa- tion to be given to Inspector Steggles, Newmarket, Cambs. — Bow- street, November 2. Stolen from the person of Frank Palmer, on the roadside at Rosliston, on the 24th instant : a German silver Watch, ' No. 17711' scratched inside the case, steel Chaiu and Seal attached; a leather Bag, containing 15s; a Tucket Knife, with two blades, a piece of brass let in the haft; a blue cloth Cap, with tabs tied over the top with black ribbon, and black ribbon band round ; and a white cotton Pocket- handkerchief, with black spots round the border. Stolen on the 15th instant, from the person of Henry Prichard, at the Newbury Michaelmas Hiring Fair : a silver ihunting Watch, engine- turned, capped, and jewelled, No. 1848, maker Henry Pritchard, Newbury, aud was deficient of glass and seconds hand when stolen. Information to be given to Superintendent Goddard, Newbury Borough Police, Berks.— Bow- street, October 28. plexion, small dark eyes, which are very tender, dark hair, heavy moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in dark coat and vest, cord trousers, side- spring boots, and rough cap. JOHN FARMER, labourer, of Red Lion- street, Notting- ham, 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexiou, light hair, grey eyes, small beard ou end of chin ; dressed in grey coat aud vest, worsted cord trousers, strong lace- up boots, and dark cap. They are well kuowu in Nottingham and the neighbourhood. Information to be given to Inspector Piberdy, Loughborough, Leicestershire,— Bow- street, November 6. Stolen by means of housebreaking, on the 28th ultimo, the property of George Marshall, of the parish of FroxCeld : three pairs of cord Trousers, four blue and white check Shirts, a white Slop, two cloth Vests, a pilot cloth Coat, a cord Jacket, nearly new, a velveteen Jacket, and a rush Basket. By two deserters from the 15th Regiment: one about 29 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion ; the other 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fre3h com- plexion ; one of them is rather round- shouldered ; they are wearing part of the stolen clothing, and are supposed to be making their way to a village about four miles from Leeds. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Hants Constabulary, Petersfield.— Bow- street, November 2. About 1 a. m. on the 29th ultimo, two men broke into a house at Gnosall, Staffordshire, and assaulted William Made- Ley, the occupier, and stole therein : a black cloth Jacket, one button in front, aud pockets on the hips ; a black cloth Vest, both vexv shabby ; a black silk Neckerchief, with white spots; a blue Neckerchief, with white spots; and about 3s. 6d. in silver and copper Money. The men appeared to be young, and one was dressed in dark and the other in a white slop or jacket ; one is also supposed to be injured about the head or shoulders, and to have blood upon his clothing ; they may be wearing some of the stolen articles. The same night they enquired the nearest way to Newport or Wolverhamp- ton. Information to be given to Inspector Hackney, Guild- hall, or Sergeant Wheaver, Church Eaton, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, Notember 2. Stolen from the dwelling- house of Thomas Rogers, of Brymbo, near Wrexham, ou the 25th instant, by means of breaking open the door : a silver lever Watch, engraved ' Wm. Rogers, 1871,' inside, maker Fletcher, Manchester ; a brown Overcoat, brown velvet collar, black aud blue plaid ( cross bar) woollen lining; a pair of dark grey Trousers, with black stripe down sides. Between 9 p. m. 24th and 12 noon on the 25th instant, the shop of Robert Frusher, shoemaker. Stolen from a field in Lyme Handley, between 3 p. m. on the 27th and 9 a. m. on the 28th ultimo : a white roau Heifer, rising 3 years old, with the letter ' O' branded on one horn. Information to be given to Superintendent Dale, Couutv Police Office, Macclesfield, or to Sergeant Rowbotham, Police Station, Bollington, Cheshire.— Bow street. November 2. Stolen on the night of the 27th ultimo, from Eden Lacy Parks, near Penrith, Cumberland : a grey- faced half- bred gimmer Lamb, one ear cropped, the other droops, marked ' T. J. J on the near side. Information to be given to Super- intendent Fowler, Penrith, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland. - Bow- street, November 2. Dtscription of a man charged with stealing four Bullock* at Burlescombe, on the morning of the 30th ultimo, who sold them in Exeter Market the same day for £ 43, and absconded before he had been paid, which are nclv in charge of the police: he is about 45 years of age, 5 feet It inches high, slight buijd, dark complexion, hair, aud - whiskers ( round the chin), no moustache, long features, large nose, sunken cheeks, and walks very erectly ; dressed in a black soft felt hat, dark clotlr overcoat, dark grey waterproof underneath, and a small pepper- and- salt colour cloth coat underneath the waterproof, and dark plaid trousers with dark blue stripe across ; he stated that he was going to Plymouth, and talked about Exeter Market and South Wales." Found at Saltby, near Birmingham, supposed stolen : a black thorough- bred Horse, aged, is hauds high, weak on the forelegs, long tail, and white saddle marks. Description of a man charged with stealing a Horse, at Billingley, on the night of the 26th instant, ( horse recovered): he is 20 to 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 iuches high, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, slight dark mous- tache, and § njall tuft on cbiut long face, aud sulky, looking; supposed to- be a native of Yorkshire ; dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat, aud had with him an umbrella. By a woman, about 46 jears of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, proportionate make, fresh complexion,' light hair aud eyes ; dressed iu a drab or grey woollen costume, aud carrying a satchel; she gave the name Mrs. MINA JURY, and called upon a great mauy of the resident gentry aud well- to- do inhabitants of the borough and vicinity soliciting contributions ou account of the im- prisoned Tichborne claimant, stating also that she was going to lecture in thei Public Hall here ou his behalf. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen from a shop in Hull, between 11.30 p. m. on the 2nd, and 4' 30 a. m. on the 3rd instant, by taking down a shutter, and breaking a pane of glass in the window: a coloured gold Brooch, tl rce pendants, set with aqua marine stones ; a pair of Ear- rings to match ; five gold keeper Rings, some set with hair ; ten gold weddiug Riugs ; six gold fancy Rings; and six gilt wedding Rings. Description of two men, charged on a warrant with burglary, at Wymeswold, during the night of the 24th ultimo, in company with REUBEN ECOB, now in custody, and stealing articles to the value of £ 5 8s., which have since been • recovered : JAMES CROSSLAND, labourer, of Ireland - street, Nottingham, 28 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark corn- billycock hat, blue pilot coat, black vest, aud dirty cord trousers, wore a white linen slop between jacket aud vest; he is a native of Carlcoats, Yorkshire, aud is well known at Knutsford and Wakefield Prisons. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Arrowsmith, County Police, hyde, or to Acting Inspector Cooper, Police Station, Mottram- in- Longdenaale, Cheshire, who holds a warrant for his appre- heusioB.— B< nv- street, Aoyemfar C, Stolen from a field at Rotherham, between 4 aud 9 a. m. on the 2nd instant, the property of Henry Aizlewood, of Rotherham, lime merchant : a black cart Colt, 2 years old, about 13 hands high, very fat, white star on forehead, and without shoes. Information to be given to Superintendent Gillett, West RidiDg Constabulary, Court House, Rotherham, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 4. Found at Polesworth, near Atherstone, Warwickshire, about the 23rd ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen : a red and white Heifer, white face, and long horns. Also found at Austrey, near ^. therstone, and supposed to have been stolen abont the 29th ultimo : three black faced Sheep, and five Lambs, no mark upon them. Stolen between 1 and 6 a. m. on the 3rd icsk, from Mr. A Simpson, of Allerthorpe : a dark blue reefer Overcoat, with black horn buttons ; a silver Geneva Watch, No. 1314, with a small brass Chain, with knot tied ou end, and Key attached ; and a leather Purse, with clasp, containing a Half- crown. By a man, 55 years of age ( looks younger), 5 feet 5 iuches high, dark complexion, aud dark brown hair ; dressed in grey trousers, very much worn, aud a hole cn left knee, double- breasted waistcoat with white spots, a pair cf eld. boots, cut on inside of each ; he has beeu a soldier-, walks very erect, is much given to drink, aud the third finger on the right hand is doubled iuwards. November 6 about 19 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, full blue eyes, scar on right eyebrow, dark brown hair, cut short, long neck, and slender figure; dressed in dark cloth coat and trousers, torn at one knee, red necktie, and dark ti" ht- fitting cloth cap, with peak, and blucher boots ; he is a member of the South Durham Militia, and is well known in the county of Durham. Absconded on the 31st ultimo, from the service of Messrs. J. Coole and Sons, stationers, 105, Cannon- street, stealing £ 75 in Gold, Notes, See. : EDWARD BUTCHER, late of No. 7, Bell- street, Westminster, 21 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark hair, slight moustache, fresh complexion, and haggard look; dressed respectably. C.— Bow- street, November 6, Absconded on the 8th ultimo, from Central- street, St. Lukes, charged with embezzling £ 20 : a man, 42 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in a black frock coat, dark tweed trousers, and black hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, November 6. Absconded on the 27th ultimo, from Weston- street, Long- lane, Bermondsey, charged with stealing £ 20, the monies of his employer : a man, 37 years of age, 5 feet inches high, dark complexion, hair, eyes, moustache, and whiskers, shaved on chin, tattooed marks on arms ; dressed in light coat, dark vest, black trousers, felt hat, and side- spring boots.— Metro- politan Police, M Division, November 4. On the afternoon of the 28th ultimo, a man of respectable appearance, went into a jeweller's shop at Greenock, and personating a spirit merchant in that town, induced the jeweller to sell him a gold lever keyless Watch, No. 36910, and a gold Seal ( shield shape), with blood stone, and which by opening makes a locket; he undertook to pay the jeweller's assistant, who accompanied him to a house in Brongham- street to get the cash, the assistant was shown into the dining room by the purchaser of the watch, who promised to bring the money immediately, but he quitted the house directly he left the assistant ; he engaged rooms at the house on the same afternoon. The watch has been recovered at Glasgow, where it was pledged for £ 10, and a similar attempt was made upon another jeweller by the same man : he is from 24 to 30 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, black hair, parted in centre, slender make, pale thin face, and speaks with a slight Irish accent; dressed in a dress hat, black frock coat, grey trousers, black sailor's- knot neck- tie, a new gold albert chain, and a gold finger ring. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Dewar, Police Chambers, Greenock.— Bow- street, November 4. Stolen on the 23rd instant, from William - street, Lowndes- square : 109 Spoons, thirty- six Table, twenty- four Dessert, twenty- five Tea, twelve Salt, four Egg, two Mustard, four Gravy, one Marrow, one Apostle. 84 Forks, sixty Table ( some old- fashioned, end of handles turning wrong way), twenty- four Dessert. 6 Ladles, two Soup, four Sauce. 1 pair of Sugar Tongs. 1 Butter Knife. 1 large Teapot and small Stand. By CHARLES COLE, a butler, 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, very pile complexion, dark brown hair ( parted on right side), no whiskers or ] nou3tache, large ears, standing out from head, and is a little lame ; dressed in dark clothes and hat. A reward of £ 30 will be paid by Sir Frederick Nicholson, of the above address, to any person who will, give such information as shall lead to the apprehension of the said Charles Cole and recovery of the property, or a portion of the reward will be paid according to the amount of property recovered. Information to be given to Superintendent Description of GRIFFITH EDWARDS, otherwise WILLIAM EDWARDS, a native of Glesford, Denbighshire, a labourer : about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7J or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, brown hair, small sandy whiskers round face ; dressed in a dark brown or blue jacket and moleskin trousers, and small cap. He belongs to No. 2 Com- pany of 1st Cheshire Militia, and is charged under a warrant with stealing on the 17th ultimo a double- barrelled Gun, which has lately been recovered, and was sold at Chester. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, or to Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, November 2. Absconded from Chester, on the 29th ultimo, taking with him three £ 5 Bank Notes, and a Sovereign ; the property of his employer : JOHN DALBY, 21 years of age, about 6 feet high, dark hair, slight dark whiskers, grey eyes, dark, sallow complexion, thick red lips, is well educated, and of good address ; dressed in a suit of light grey clothes, and a high black hat; he wa3 employed as a gardener, but appears to have been advertising for a clerk or book- keeper, with a view probably of obtaining money as a deposit; he left behind him papers bearing the addresses, 07, Grape- street, Hunslet, Leeds ; Oakwood Cottage, Rotherham; and Sandringham House, Maidenhead. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Chester, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, November 2. Description of THOMAS BROOKS, charged with embezzling £ 10, and who absconded on the 23rd instant, from Worleston, where he was employed as second horseman in a hunting stable : about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark complexion, black hair, small black whiskers, strong beard shaved off, full round" features, heavy eyetrows, and of respectable appearance; he was formerly employed in a racing stable. Is accompanied by his wife, a smartly dressed young woman, of medium height. Infor- mation to be given at tfee County Police Station, Nantwich, Cheshire.— Bow- street, October 30.
