A warrant has been granted for the apprehension of CHARLES DURRANT, charged with forging a Cheque for £ i0, who has absconded from Luton : from 2( i to 30 vears of age, about 5 feet 0 inches high, dark complexion and hair, v « ry blotched face, prominent nose, black moustache, no whiskers, and is a warehouseman ; generally dressed in dark clothes and deerstalker hat, sometimes wears a high hat. The house of Thomas Weaver, of Cooper's Mill, in the parish of Dowles, was broken into, between 1 aud 2 p. m. on the 8th instant, and stolen therein : a grey cloth Jacket, with pockets at hips, and one inside pocket, black bone buttons, nearly new ; a pair of black and grey tweed Trousers, with broad black stripe up outside of leg, fall fronts, nearly new ; a pair of man's lace- up Boots, with eyelets and hooks up front, tips on heels, and newly soled ; a pair of woman's leather lace- up Boots, far worn ; a large old- fashioned silver verge Watch, with German silver ring, dent in back of outer case, No. 4361, German silver Guard attached ; a small pocket Knife, with two blades, white handle, tipped with German silver, thumb holes on each side to open the blades ; two rough Towels ; two pocket Handkerchiefs, one white, the other red spots, with white ground; a small loaf of Bread; and about 2 lbs. of boiled Ham. By two tramps, one about 34 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, dark swarthy complexion, sandy whiskers round the chin, stoops ; dressed in dark cap, coat, and vest, and light trousers; the other about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, thin make, no whiskers, light short hair ; dressed in dark clothes and cap, short round jacket, patches on seat and knee of trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Ivins, Bridgnorth, or to Sergeant Collis, Cleobury Mortimer, Salop. Stolen, by breaking into the shop of G. Smith and Son, drapers, in the borough of Great Grimsby, between 8 p. m. on the 7th and 8 a. m. on the 8th instant : six ladies' real sealskin Jackets, three plain, two trimmed with light fur, the other with black. Between 9 a. m. and 5 p. m. on the 13th instant, the - dwelling- house of John Gray, at Woodmancy, East Riding of Yorkshire, was entered by means of false keys and stolen therefrom : a black velvet Bag containing £ 31 10s. in Gold, 13s. in Silver and Copper, taken out of a child's savings bank box ; a large common verge Watch, No. 17077, maker Green- land, London; a small Geneva Watch, opens at back ; and an imitation gold Albert Guard. Also betweeit 8 a. m. and 1- 30 p. m. on the 13th instant, the dwelling- house of George Clayton, of Woodmancy, East Riding of Yorkshire, was entered by means of false keys, and stolen therefrom : a silver Guard, secret link, with Key attached, mounted with pearl rose stone; a pair of violet kid Gloves; a pair of black leather Gloves, men's size ; a Six- pence, with ' York' marked on it, aud a hole punched through ; and an old- fashioiied silver Tea Spoon. A man of the following description who hayed a Horse, Saddle, and Bridle at the Ram Hotel, Gloucestershire, on the 7th instant, to ride to Stroud, has absconded stealing the same : about 36 years of age, middle height and size, dark complexion, whiskers, and moustache - dressed in a blaok bowler hat, tweed suit, and had a satchel suspended by a strap across his shoulder ; by speaks with an Irish or Scotch accent; the horse is aged., bay colour, well bred, spirited, showy when going, shakey the legs, short square tail, small wane, and has been firer\ on both hind fetlock joints. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give such infor- mation as will lead to +. ke recovery of the horse and convic-' tion of the offender. Description of a man charged at Hastings with stealing a Great Coat, since found pledged, from the front hall of a house at St. Leonards, on the 13th instant: about 40 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark brown hair, beard, and very long thick moustache ; dressed in a black high hat, and dark suit, and carried an umbrella. Description of three young men who absconded from Ironbridge, on the lbth instaut, charged with stealing from a dwelling- house, the following property : a pair of light lace- up Boots ; a blue pilot cloth reefer Jacket; a pair of black cloth Trousers,- nearly new ; two black Vests, much worn ;_ a pair of dark check cloth Trousers, nearly new, dark metal buttons, with ' Shingler and Son, Ironbridge,' stamped thereon ; a dark blue cloth Jacket, with outside skirt pockets, has been stained with dark paint on right skirt ; a dark grey mixture Vest, to fit a jouth 19 year^ of age ; the property of John Gauton, collier. THOMAS SMITH, a collier, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark brown hair, sallow complexion, rather long features, very weak eyes, ears pierced, and fi. ee pockmarked ; supposed to be wearing some of the stolen clothes. EDWARD GAUTON, a collier, 18 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high gather stent make, and curly auburn hair ; dressed in either light grey cloth or moleskin trousers, moleskin vest, and a blue pilot cloth reefer jacket. THOMAS BANKS, a collier, about 15 years of age, 4 feet 2 inches high, and light hair; dressed in white, flannel jacket, moleskin troupers, and black billycock tat. They are supposed to have goneto Ebbw Vale, Monmouthshire, or to the Forest of Dean. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Turner, Ironbridge, Salop, - syho holds the warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- sfreet, October 14. Description of WILLIAM RUDD, a servant, charged ( on a warrant) with embezzling £ 2, the monies of Thomas Bruce, of Hyde, Cheshire : he is about 36 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, black hair, JaJ'k complexion, has the appear- ance of a German, and has'lost' his left arm. He is likely to be found at lied worth, near Coventry, Nuneaton, Atherton, or Rugby. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Con- stable Arrowsmith, Constabulary Station, Hyde, Cheshire.— — Bou.- iiriet, October 12 Absconded on the 27th ultimo: FREDERICK ROBIN- SON, late of essington, a Ial jourer, charged with embezzle- ment, 46 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, light hair, small sandy whiskers, fresh complexion, going bald on top of head, lame of right leg ; he has of late been employed at limeburning. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Wallsall, or to Police Constable Tit- terton, Essington, near Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, October 12. A man of the following description is charged with stealing Carpenters' Tools ( since recovered) from the Alex- andra Docks, Newport, Monmouthshire, on the 7th instant: about 3S years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, stout build, light complexion, light hair, cut short, very light sandy mous- tache, no whiskers ; he says he is & ship carpeuter, and came from Plymouth ou the 30th ultimo ; dressed in blue pilot cloth monkey jacket, bine pilot vest and trousers, Cossack boots, supposed military, and black hard bowler hat, speaks with a broad Devonshire accent, and is supposed to be a deserter from the Navy ; he may be found in some ship yard or on public works. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Abergavenny, to Superintendent Mcintosh, Monmouthshire Constabulary, Pontypool, or to Inspector Sheppard, County Constabulary, Newport, Monmouthshire. - - Bow- street, October 12. Description of ALBERT TUFFIN, who escaped from the custody of a police constable about 8 a. ui. on the 9th ins., charged with Fowl stealing at Christchurch, near Newport, high, proportionate make, light complexion, light sandy hair, Mon. : a labourer, from 27 to 30 years of age, 5 feet C inches whiskers, and mpustache ; ( tressed when he escaped in a grey tweed suit and black bowler hat, carried a plaid coat on his arm ; is a native of Stourpaine, near Blandford, Dorsetshire. He was traced on the road toward Bristol; he changed his hlack bowler hat for a brown one at a public- house at Magor on the same morning. Information to be given to the Chief Constable of Monmouthshire, Abergavenny, to Superin- tendent Mcintosh, Monmouthshire Constabulary, Pontypool, or to Inspector Sheppard, Monmouth Constabulary, Newport, who holds a warrant for hie apprehension.— Bow- street, • October 12. Description of JOHN DUNBAR LEAL READ, alias JOHN. DUNBAR, alias JOHN DUNBAR LEAL: 50years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, thin pointed nose, dark hair and whiskers, turning grey, a great snuff taker, iiad a native of Elgin, Scotland ; generally dresses iu a suit of grey • clothes, at times wears a brown summer overcoat ; he has been a travelling draper, and also a book canvasser ; he was last seen at the Carlisle Railway Station making his way, it is believed, for Scotland. £ 5 reward will be paid for h£ « apprehension on application to Major Poyntz, Chief Constable, Nottingham,, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, Bow- street, October 9. Descriptioa of JANE BROMLEY, a dressmaker, who absconded on the 22nd ultimo, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 115 in Gold, the monies of her master, James Guiks, at Asby, in the parish of Arlecdon, Cumberland : she is 20 years of age, good looking, 5 feet 6 inches high, blue ey& i, light bair, of smart and lady- like appearance, hag lost the nail of the third finger of left hand, and a native of Milford, Staffordshire. Supposed to be dressed in black stuff frock with narrow flounces to the waist, white straw hat with black crape ribbon and veil, hair put up in a chignon, and fastened with large comb at back, red, green, and white striped searf shawl, white necktie, and elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Bertram, Con- stabulary Office, Whitehaven, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, Oct. 9. Stolen on the 5th instant, from the dwelling- house of Joseph Kenney, of Houghall Colliery : a gold Albert Guard, double links, had attached a gold Locket with feather en- gratfed ou one bide, arid blue heart on the other. By EDWARD McLAUGHLAN or LOCKERAN, a miner who had been lodglot' with Kenney, and abse< mded ; 24 years of age, about T eet 8 inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, brown hair and whiskers, Bear on forehead, near roots of hair, and is a native of Wishaw, near Glasgow. A warrant has been issued for his apprehension. Information to be given to Superintendent Dunn, County Constabulary, Durham.— Bow- street, October 9. He was sentenced to 5 years penal servitude at Stafford Assizes, on the 20th July, 1870, for sheep stealing, and was released on license on the22nd July last.
