Absconded from Wigtown, charged with Horse- 3tealing, & c * ROBERT ANDERSON, about 17 years of age, 5 ft. 6or 7 inches high, sandy bair, blue eyes, fair complexion, thin face, and short sighted; while in the Reformatory School, at Stranraer, was engaged at paper- bag making, is a good player on flute, is fond of dancing, and has a relative living iu Bothwick's Close, Edinburgh ; dressed in blue bonnet, white canvass jacket, dark moleskin vest and trousers, and strong lace- up boots. JOHN MORRISON, about 16 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, black hair, hazel eyes, dark complexion, narrow con- tracted chin, a buzz in his speech when pronouncing the letter R, a peculiar rocking gait, looks on the ground, a tattooed dot on each hand near thumb, and has a relative consisting of silver, iroD, and wood, the head being silver ; a Bracelet, consisting of striped agate set in gilt metal; a large black binocular Marine Glass, maker Wood, Cheapside, London, in black enamelled leather Case; an old- fashioned silver Watch, with ' John Vanner ' on face. On the night of the 5th instant, a dwelling- house and shop was burglariously entered, and the following property and monies stolen therein : three Sovereigns in Gold ; about £ Z in Silver, consisting of Half- Crowns, Florins, Shillings, and Sixpences ; a lady's brown leathei Satchel, colour rather faded, inside is lined with blue leather, one of the pockets torn, the clasp defective, has a leather handle, and a key attached to a ring with a pink and white string, had a brown morocco leather Purse in it, with black elastic band, also several Invoices, one from Falkner, Brothers, Dale- street, Manchester, one from Roylance & Sons, Manchester, one from Worthington's, Church- street, Manchester, and one fiom , Hall's, Shudehill, Manchester ; also several patterns of Dress living at Burn's- laud, Greenside- row, Edinburgh ; dressed in INFORMATIONS. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Lewes Races on the 7th and 8th instant: Material. Two young men of the following description are suspected : one about 20 years of age, rather tall and slender, sallow looking, either marked with smallpox or fawn freckled; dressed in a dark cloth swinger coat, trousers, and vest, black blue bonnet, dark moleskin faded jacket, dark moleskin vest and trousers, capped on the knees, and strong laced boots. These youths were inmates of the Reformatory School at Stranraer, and were engaged at farm work iu the neighbour- cloth cap, with leather peak ; the other rather lower iu hood of Newtonstewart, when they absconded early on the stature, about 18 or 19 years of age ; dressed in dark clothes, and cloth cap with peak ; both have the appearance of factory operatives. Description of a man who abscoaded from Lofthouse, on the 8th instant, charged with stealing a silver lever Watch, No. 9640, with gold figures; also a silver Albert Guard attached : 29 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers down side of face, and a scar on one side of face ; dressed in a black cloth suit, cap with cheesecutter peak, and white shirt. Description of SAMUEL WEBSTER, clerk, charged upon a warrant with embezzlement : 21 years of age, 5 feet Hi inches high, sallow complexion, light brown hair, slight whiskers ou cheeks, heavy looking eyes, slightly pockpitted, round shouldered, slim built; dressed in dark mixture suit, billycock hat, aud side- spring boots; he may be wearing a silver lever Watch, maker, Potts, Leeds; a double linked gold albert Guard and L icket attached. Charged on a warrant with embezzlement: HENRY TARR, late of Springfield- road, St. John's Wood, aud 28, Queen- street, Cheapside, solicitor's clerk, 45 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, iron- grey hair, dark eyes, black beard and moustache, slightly grey, regular features, and oval face, rather thin ; generally wears a black frock coat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, August 10. Description of JAMES EDGERTON, a labourer, and native of Basingstoke, charged on a warrant with embezzling, on the 1st instant, £ 2 9s. 6d., the monies of Wm. Hy. Blatch and others, brewers, of Basingstoke : he is 27 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh complexion, no whiskers or mous- tache, very little hair ou chin, blue eyes, brown hair, and marked with the letter ' D.'; dressed in a grey woollen jacket, card trousers, two white duck jackets, dark striped cotton from a farm called Caerfallach, Northop, Flintshire, where he was engaged as a farm servant: a pilot cloth Topcoat, with velvet collar, with a piece on the left arm, and horn buttons ; a pair of grey tweed cloth Trousers, with white spots ; a pair of woollen cord Trousers ; and a grey Vest, with wlrite stripes ; the property of Thomas Jones. Roberts is about 31 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light hair and moustache. Information to be given to Chief Constable Adams or Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, August 7. Description of a man named DUN. CARMICHAEL, charged with entering the service of David Burgess in May last, with falsely- forged and counterfeit certificates of character, and further charged with larceny : is a packman, and native of Mauchlin, Ayrshire, Scotland ; 21 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, florid complexion, and small nose; dressed in a black coat, bound with black braid, pockets at the sides and one iu breast, mottled doeskin trousers and vest, blue satin scarf and pin with white stone, red plaid woollen - shirt with black stripes, brown hard felt hat, and elastic- side boots without nails. He has beeu traced to Luton, Beds., where he took a third class ticket to Manchester, by the newspaper train, on the 3rd instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Hedley, Poliae Station, Penpy Stratford, Bucks, who holds a warrant for Tiis apprehension. - Bow- street, August 7. Absconded from Middlesborough ou the 4th instant, charged with embezzling various sums of Money belonging to his late employers, the North Eastern Railway Company : THOMAS SIDDALL, a railway goods olerk, about 25 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, thin face, sharp nore, brown hair, little light whiskers on sides of face, chin shaved, slender figure, turns feet out when walking, and is a native of Stanhope, Durham ; dressed in a dark plaid mixed suit, elastic- side boots, and black billycock hat. In- formation to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middles- borougb, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, August 7. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded from Wisbech, on the 12th instant, charged with rape: WILLIAM ANDREWS, of New Walsokeu, a painter, about 40 j ears of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark whiskers meeting under chiu ; dressed in dark coat and vest, chummy hat, and dirty light- coloured trousers, had wit's him two flag baskets, containiug tools. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Police Station, Wisbecb, Cambridge.— Bow- stteet, August 14. On the night of the 9th instant, Trinity Church, Great Malvern, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : a silver Flagon or Jug, with handle and spout; a silver Paten or flat Dish, with leg stand ; a small silver Cup ; a small flat silver Dish ; and a brass Alms Dish ; all the above articles are supposed to have the following inscription on them—' Given ( or preseuted) by E. A. H. Lecbmere.' £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Checketts, Upton- on- Severn, or to Acting Inspector Turner, Great Malvern, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, August 12. Description of ROBERT BENNETT, alias BARRETT, alias LITTLE BOB, a bricklayer, who is charged with marrying Sarah Jane Gill, at Margate, his wife Sarah Ann being still alive : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion, and has a deep scar on right cheek. He is likely to be found at work at some large buildings in the Eastern Counties. Information to be given to Head Constable Compton, Town Hall, Margate, Kent, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 12. Stolen during the night of the 8th iustant, from the Church of St. Peter, Newtown, West Bromwich : a Bachelor shirt, elastic- side boots, aud billycock hat; was ' discharged | of Arts Hood, black corded alpaca, bordered with ermine ; six from the Military tram in March, 1870, after desertion. He j gold Crosses from offertory bags ; two silk Stoles— plain with was traced to Aldershot, where he slept on the night of the 2ud instant, aud left on the 3rd, stating he was going to London, where he is now supposed to be, and will likely apply for employment as a fly driver or drayman at a brewery. He is a horse dealer, a native of Ayrshire, and lived for many years at Fenwick, in that county, but has absconded, and the last trace of him is in Glasgow, shortly after the above crime was committed.
