As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticlo in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFOKMATIONS. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Description of DAVID DAVIDSON, of Ewlve Green, Hawarden, Flintshire, collier, charged with highway robbery with violence on the night of the 4th instant, on the high- way in the parish of Northop, Flintshire : 21 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches higb, fresh complexion, grey eyes, well built, rather large features. He belongs at present to the Flint- shire Militia. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Adams, or Inspector Minshull, Mold, Flintshire.— Bow- street, July 16. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the 11th instant, at the regatta, Walton- on- Thames : a silver hunting Watch, maker McCabe, Royal Exchange; and an oval gold Locket, monogram ' H. C. S.' oil one side, crest on the other. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Bungard, Surrey Con- ! stabulary, Chertsey.— Bow- street, July 13. Stolen from the person of a lady whilst at the railway station at Preston, on the 4th iustaut, a gold Geneva Watch, 1 enamelled back, Cupid in centre of outer case, maker's name supposed Walmsley, Manchester, No. 110355, had a hair Guard attached, gold mounted. Information to be given to Head Constable Oglethorpe, Preston, Lancashire.— Bow- street, June 10. Stolen between 9 p. m. on the 13th and 6 p. m. on the 14th instant, from a field at Blackbush Farm, Stapleford Abbotts, the property of Mr. Philip Taylor: a black nag Mare, 15 hands 2 inches high, long mane and tail, aged, and in good condition ; and a large square light Cart, painted dark, with ash shafts, an iron rail at both sides, seat with leather at back. There were three strange men seen in the neighbour- hood on the night of the robbery, dressed in dark clothes with low felt hats. £ 20 reward will be paid by Mr. Taylor for such information as shall lead to the recovery of the horse and cart and conviction of the offender or offenders. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Simpson, Epping, or to Inspector Robinson, Police Station, Chipping Ongar, Essex. — Bow- street, July 17. Stolen from a field at Birstall, on the night of the 12th instant: a bay Horse, aged, about 16 hands high, half bred, clean legs, in poor condition, black mane and tail, and has a flesh- lump about the size of an egg on near knee. Information to be given to Superintendent Airton, Court House, Dewsbury, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 17. £ 20 reward will be paid to any person giving such infor- mation as will lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders, and recovery of the black Mare stolen from a gentlemans stables at Wishanger, in the parish of Headley, on the 28th ultimo, and advertised in the Police Gazette on the 3rd instant, and subsequent dates. Information to be given to Superintendent Cheyney, Hants Constabulary Station, Alton.— Bow- street, July 17. Stolen on the 13th instant, from a livery stable in Man- chester : a Mare and Drag ; the mare is a light bay, with black legs, about 15 hands 2 inches high, has one broken knee which is not quite healed, and belly rather large ; the drag is constructed to carry four, two in front and two behind, paiuted blue and black, with fine lineq of red, and has a white panel to imitate wickerwork at the sides, has recently been painted, is iu good order, and the wings over the wheels are turued upwards at the back ; and a good set of silver or brass plated Harness. By a man who gave his name as GEORGE SMITH ( no doubt fictitious), from 30 to 35 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, proportionate make, light com- plexion, thin face, which is red as if from drink, light hail Stolen from a field at the Field House Farm, in the parish of Pontesbury, Salop, during the night of the 30th ult, the property of Mr. . John Scrimshaw : a Shropshire down wether Sheep, the skin and entrails were found tied up in a guano bag in the River Rea, at Farley. Information to be given to Superintendent Caswell, Shrewsbury, or to Sergeant Williams, Worthen, Salop.-— Bow- street, July 13. Stolen from a field at Bickerstaffe, during the night of the 6th instant, a bay cart Horse, about 16 hands high, 4 years old, black legs, mark of a Bear round the near fore fetlock, and in good condition, value £ 60. Supposed by a young man, dressed in grey clotbes, who has been traced to within a few miles of Warrington, having in his possession 2 horses. Information to be given at the Constabulary Office, Ormskirk, Lancashire.— Bow- st., June 10. Description of ELI FLETCHER, a travelling gipsy, who is in custody aud remanded, charged with stealing a Horse : 28 years of age, 5 feet 4£ inches high, hazel eyes, dark brown hair, small light- brown whiskers, sallow com- plexion, has lost a tooth in upper jaw, a cut on the left eye- brow, and one on the inside of right thigh ; dressed in a white jacket, fustian vest, with one brass button on, the shape of a dog, aud one shell button, corduroy trousers, check shirt, and lace- up boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Chipp. Police Station, Coleford, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, July 10. Obtained by means of a false pretence, at Worcester, on the 6th instant, a dark brown Horse, between 14 and 15 hands high, aud blind in one eye ; a set of square buckle Harness ; and a four- wheeled Dog Cart, painted aud lined green. By a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, and fair complexion. A reward of £ 2 will be paid at the Wor- cester City Police Office for such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender and recovery of the hor3e, harness, and - vehicle. Between 1 and 2 a. m. on the 9th instant the dwelling- house of James Piercy, 138, Great Knolly's- street, Reading, was broken and entered and the following articles stolen therein : two Overcoats, four body Coats, and one Jacket ( since recovert d), five common Spoons, three Knives, three Forks, one Bteel watch Chain, aud one pair of elastic- side Boots, recently clumped. By JOHN CLARK, supposed j fictitious, who was discharged from Reading Gaol on the pre- 1 vious morning after a term of six months for larceny, he having left his boots behind is no doubt wearing the stolen ones ; he is 49 years of age, 5 feet 8j inches high, s Jlow complexion, ^ iey hair and moustache, grey eyes and long visage, a w. nu light side of nose, slightly pockpitted, and is marked y., ih the letter ' D'on left side; dressed in dark coat with velvet collar and black trousers ; bas with him an old blue coat ( supposed serge) which he is likely to be wearing. Information to be given to Superintendent Purchase, Borough Police Station, Reading, Berkshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 17. On the 4th instant, the cottage of Bessy Dodson, at Childerly, was broken into by two tramps, and the following property stolen: two blue pilot Jackets, one with a red striped lining, the other a blue lining and velvet collar ; two pairs of Trousers, one black cord, nearly new, the other black cloth, with yellow stripes; a dark cloth Waistcoat, without collar; an old white Shirt ; and a pair of cotton Stockings. One of the tramps is about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, very short hair, aud wore old cap aud lace- up boots ; the other is from 35 to 40 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, ginger- coloured moustache, and wore a low- crowned felt hat; they are wearing the stolen clothes, having changed directly after the robbery, and left their own ragged suits in a corn field. Description of JOHN ROBERTS, who is charged with horse stealing at Knaresborough on the 6th instant: 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, sallow complexion inclined to be dark, thin features, large dark eyes, dark hair, mous- tache ( slight), and whiskers ( under cheeks and chin), scar on right cheek, and slightly pockpitted ; dressed in a dark cloth coat, tight- fitting trousers, and large Scotch bonnet; a native of Yorkshire, resided last in Knaresbrough, and was in the 5th West Yorkshire Militia, which was disbanded in June last; a tinner, tinker, grinder, and chair mender. Stolen on the night of the 9th instant, from a field at Norbury : a darK chesnut Horse, 6 years old, 15 hands 3 ins. high, a well- bred huuter, the property of Mr. T. Maskery, farmer, Norbury. £ 10 reward will be paid to any person who shall give such information as will lead to the apprehen- sion and conviction of the offender or offenders, aud recovery of the horse. Stolen on the night of the 11th or on the morning of the 12th iustant, from off Bromyard Downs, the property of Thos. Potter, labourer, Norton : four old Ewes, two of them have a Lamb each— three yearling Ewes and a yearling Tup, some of them pitch- marked with the letter ' P' on each side, the marks on the sides of the Lambs are nearly grown out, but have been marked on the crup with the letter ' P' recently, and all in good condition. Absconded on the 11th iustant, charged with stealing £ S0 in £ 10 and £ 5 Bank of England Notes— five £ 10 notes, Nos. 6u957, 60958, 60959, 60960 ; five £ 5 notes, Nos. 00198, 00199, 00200, 00201, 00202 : a youth, 19 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, eyes, and whiskers ; dressed iu a giey mixture trousers and coat, black vest, high black hat, side spring boots, of gentlemanly appearance.— Metropolitan Police, K Division, July 17. Description of THOMAS HARWOOD, a tramping tanner, charged with stealing a pair of boy's Trousers on the 8th instant, from a dwelliug- house at Great Ay ton, where he had applied for work at a tannery. The property since recovered. He left Abergavenny for Bilston, on the 11th instant, by the 3 30 p. m. train. Stolen on the 10th instauc, from a dogcart at Richmond, Yorkshire: a brown striped double- bre. asted new- frshioned cut Coat, with five pockets on the outside, double stitched, and raised seams ; three Handkerchiefs in the pockets, one black, with white spots, the otliers mufflers; also a sealskin Tobacco Pouah and some Dills in the iuside breast pocket. By a man about 22 years of age, 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, fresh complexion, thin face, brown hair, slight moustache, and thin figure ; dressed in black coat, light striped trousers and vest, skull cap, and fancy clogs ; states he is a collier. Stolen on the 13th instaut, from the Marquis of Chandos inn, Newport Pagnell, a pair of blucher Boots, the property of James Peek, labourer : by a tramp, who slept iu the house the previous night, from 25 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 4 iuches high, fair complexion, dark brown hair and moustache, and no whiskers ; dressed in soft white billycock hat, black cloth coat, dark trousers, aud the stolen boots. Absconded from Hollesley, Suffolk, charged with stealing a glazier's Diamond, new, maker Schroote, London, a scratch in the hollow of the handle, the property of Walter Beeton, of Hollesley, builder: NATHANIEL ANDREWS, of Knoddishall, Suffolk, painter, ajjout 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark eyes, whiskers, and moustache, and hair turning grey; dressed in white coat and vest, light cord trousers blucher boots, and felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Freeman, Woodbridge, Suffolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, or to Police Constable Bourne Hollesley, Suffolk.— Bow- streett July 15. Stolen on the 9th instant, from the Albion H^ tel, Rams- gate : an opea- face silver Geneva Watch, supposed No. 42907 ; a gold Albert Chain, long bar link pattern, with Locket attached ; a set of gold Studs, set with Pearls ; an open- face silver Geneva Watch, j- plate ; a gold Albert Guard with gold mourning Locket, containing hair, attached; and one pair of nearly new spring- side Boots, the property of the hotel servants. Stolen on the £ l 1th. instant, from 371, Strand: a gold English lever demi- hunter Watch, gold dial, engine turned case, ' James Mosley, Waterford,' on works; a gold double curb pattern albert Chain, with . gold Key, white stone at one end, engraved, crest— a lion rampant, motto— Virtuis vincit invidium, initials ' E. G.' in centre, attached; a gold Ring, set with blue stone, crest— a lion rampant, and £ Z 5s. in Gold and Silver. By a man, 24 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, . sallow complexion, dark hair; dressed in black frock coat and trousers, black billycock hat.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, July 15. Description of HENRY SMITH, cooper, late of Burton- on- Trent, charged with stealing, f> u the 8th instant, at Burton- on- Trent, one silver lever Watch, No. 6545, and one steel and leather Chain : 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, red face, dark hair, small dark moustache, no whiskers, but had a little hair on chin ; dressed iu cord trousers, dark coat, black billycock hat, and elastic- side boot, one of which ( sup- posed the right one; has a piece cut out of it up the front ; he is well known at Leamington, Stratford- on- Avon, Sheffield, and other places, where he has been- employed at his trade as a cooper. Description of HENRY FREEBORNE, charged with embezzling various sums of Money belonging to his master Mr. Frederick Cox, baker, of Boguor : he is 21 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers, slight build, walks upright, a baker by trade, and a native of Dorchester, supposed Wimbourne; dressed in a tweed suit, spring side bo. s, and either a straw or felt hat. Stolen from the Sergeants' Quarters, at the Barracks, Ashton- under- Lyne. sometime during; the 3rd and 4th instaut: £ 20 in Bank of England Notes, by two private soldiers of the 63rd Regiment, of the following description : One about 22 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, dark brown Jiair, blue eyes, tattoo mark on right arm with the letter I, and is pockpiited. The other is about 24 years at age, 5 feet 1\ inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey- eyes, tattoo mark— anchor, cross, flags, lion, coat of armtt, plants, and child with a wreath, and wearing the uniform of the regiment when last seen. Description- sf WILLIAM SWATTEN, a carpenter and wheelwright, who absconded from Alliugton, Wilts, charged with stealing a haud Saw, since recovered, the propeity of John Mow or : he is 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 iuches high, fail- complexion, no whiskers or moustache, round shouldered, turns his left foot out when walking, and down cast appear- ance : dressed in black monkey jacket, cord trousers, and soft billycock hat, which he wears ou the right side of his head.
