CONTAINING The substance of all Informations received, in eases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated naturf, and against Receivers of Stolen Good*, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known but not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The Barnes of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehensi& n. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may hear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. *,# Whenever it is desired that any person should he appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any aiticle in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to tho Editor KiUMt be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may he addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without to authority. INFORMATIONS MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of ROBERT HERBERT FINNEY, late an attendant at the Bicton Luuatie Asylum, near Shrewsbury, charged ou coroner's warrant with the manslaughter of Thos. Watkins, late an inmate of the said Asylum, on the 12th instant : 21 years of age ( looks older), 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, light whiskers aud moustache, beard shaved, aud stoops a little ; wore a black frock, or a blue serge, coat. Was previously a letter carrier in Liverpool, and is believed to have been in the Liverpool Police Force, • is a butcher by trade. Infoimation to be given to Superiu- teuaent Caswell, County Constabulary Office, Shrewsbury, who holds the coroner's commitment for manslaughter.— Bwr,- street, June 19. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING. Description of a tramping woman, who gives the name of AGNES MORRIS, remauded uutil the 18th instant, ciiarged with arson : 48 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair, aazel eyes, lost several teeth from right side cf upper jaw, three scars on back of right hand, second and third fingers of left hand split near nails; dressed in white cotton sun- bonnet, shepherd's plaid turnover, black nankeen jacket, striped linsey apron, lustre dress, and spring- side boots, all very much woru ; states she is a native of Chelsea, London. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Day, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.— Bow- street, June 17. Bank ; and £ 3 in Gold. By a man of the following descrip- tion, who was a passenger by the same train to Culham, and took a ticket by the next train for Reading : about 45 years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high ; dressed iu dark clothes, and had the appearance of a gentleman's servant. Informa- tion to be giveu to Deputy Chief Constable Fernsby, or to Inspector Yates, County Police Station, Oxford.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen from the person at Wakefield, on the 19th inst: a gentleman's gold skeleton lever Watch, No. 42909, cream- coloured dial, gold hands, centre seconds. £ 5 reward will be paid for the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender. Stolen from the person at Beverley Races, on the 18th instant: a silver Geneva Watch, No. 7915, with gold Albert Chain and Locket attached ; also from the bar of the Green Dragon public- house: a Cash- box containing about £ 80, about £ 45 of which were of the Hull and Beverley Banking Company Notes, mostly £ 5 each, and one £ b" Bank of England Note, endorsed with the initials ' Wm. D.' Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Knight, Beverley, York*.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen on the 20th instant, from the person of Caroline Richards, on the platform of the London aud South Western Railway Station, at Wimborne : a red Russian leather Purse with clasp, containing between £ 5 and £ 6 in Gold and Silver with a few Coppers ; a Cheque for £ 47 13s. 9d. on the National Provincial Bank of England, Warehain Branch, drawn by J. A. Panton and H. J. Panton, ( crossed) iu favour of Mrs. Richards ; also a 3rd class Railway Ticket, from Wareham to Exeter, No. 476. Supposed by a female about 25 years of age, rather tall, dark complexion, and dark brown hair ; dressed in a black hat, and light brown dress, and has a bold appearance ; she states she had come from Portland, aud was going to Exeter, but had only taken a ticket to Yeovil. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Hammond, Dorset Constabulary, Wimborne.— Bow- street, June 22. Stolen from the person on the 10th inst., at Wakefield : a gentleman's gold lever Watch, No. 14890. Also on the 12th instant : a silver lever Watch, No. 80392. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police Office, Wakefield.— Bow- Areet, June 17. and vest, black cloth cap, String tight, and old military boots- worn down on the heels. Information to be given to the Deputy Chief Constable Forebridge, Stafford, or to Sergeant Wheaver, Church Eaton, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, June 17. FORGERY. Description of EDWARD JOHN GERRARD, charged with forgery : about 50 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, rather round shou devs, bushy grey hair and whiskers, rather Jewish- looking, and wears gold spectacles ; generally dressed in a rough grey tweed suit and black billycocK hat. Informatibn to be given to Chief Constable Williams, Police Office, Town Hall, Hauley, Staffordshire.— Bow- st., June 22. Description of two men, charged with forgery, at Stoke- on- Trent, on the 25th ultimo : they went to the Goods Ware- house of the North Staffordshire Railway Company, at Stoke- on- Trent, and asked for a Case of Pictures, oil paintings.— having got possession of them, one of them signed The owner's name—' W. Myatt,' in the Delivery Book, took the pictures away, and have not since been heard of. One is named JAMES SULLIVAN, about 40 years of age, about 5 feet 3 iuches high, proportionately made, browu hair, no whiskers, aud light moustache ; dressed in black cloth coat, light mixture trousers, and double- breasted vest, of the same material, a black felt hat, and a native of London. The other is named JAMES HIBBERTS, about 5 ft. 9 ins, high, slender make, and dark straight hair ; dressed in black cloth, very shabby appearance, black soft billycock hat, and a native of London. They are hawkers travelling about the country, and both have licenses taken out at Loudon. Both can be identified. Information to be given to Inspector Bold, North Stafford- shire Railway Company, Stoke- on- Trent, who holds a warraut for their apprehension", or to Chief Superiutendent Oswell, Town Hall, Stoke, Staffordshire.— Bmv- street, June 19. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of Mrs. Eliza Pickering, of Nuneham, near Oxford, who was a passenger by the 5- 20p. ru. train from Paddington to Culham : a £ 10 Bank of England Note, No. 64785 ( 72 H.); a £ 5 Note of the Oxford Old BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Stolen between the 13th and the 20tl instant, in the city of Durham, by means of housebreaking a dozen silver Tea Spoons, marked ' L. J. C.'; a silver Snuti Box, engraved on the lid ' L. Cooke ;' a lady's gold Guard Ciaiu, plain pattern ; a lady's gold Necklet, with Locket attacled, blue enamelled on one side, plain gold the other, with portrait of a lady and | girl ; a plated silver table napkin Ring ; three or four plain • gold Studs ; a pair of gold flowered Soltairea with clasp ; j a pair of pearl ditto; an aluminium gdd Pencil- case; a small gold Brooch, with white stone; a imall silver ditto ; lady's gold Ring, set with four puce cdoured stones, and j green stone in centre ; two small tortoise: hell Suufi' Boxes; and £ 4 10s, in Gold and Silver. £ 2 rewarl will be paid on the recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Stolen ou the night of the 11th instait, at Elland, by means of housebreaking : six silver Tea Spoons and oue pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' J. E:'; tweve silver plated Forks, and the following plated articles, all marked ' J. F.' : two Fruit Spoons, two Salt Spoons, two sr. all Ladles, four Table Spoons, two Dessert Spoons, one Frui Dish, having a carved cow for handle ; aud oue Fruit Stind. Also two metal Tea Pots ; one black cloth lady's Jaiket, black trim- ming and beaded fringe at bottom ; ditto ) itto, lined with satin, brown metal buttons with glass in entre ; a lady's cashmere Cape, trimmed with lace ; a Mackiitssh Coat; aud a black alpaca frock Coat, lined with red miiure plaid ; the property of Jno. Between 11 p. m. on the 11th and 6 a. n. on the 12th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Ride, miller, Sheerness, was burglariously broken and ensred, aud the following articles stolen therein : a light cloh Coat, new, with light glazed lining; a mahogany Pea Bo ; about 5s.- worth of Receipt and Postage Stamps ; six liable Spoons ( four bead aud two fiddle pattern), six Tea Sioons ( plain), five ditto ( bead pattern), a pair of Salt Spoon, nd a pair of Nutcrackers— all plated ; two silver Ladles; ad a pair of silver Sugar Tongs. Ving- house of Mr. William Madeley of Gnosall Heath, nea* Stafford, was broken and entered ou he morning of the l^ th instant, and stolen therein : a brwn leather Purse, containing 22 Sovereigns, and a Half Sovceign. By a tvarnp of the following description : about 23 yars of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 in; he3 high, dark complexion, dak hair cut short, dark eyes, with a peculiar cast, and face juch sun- burnt ; dressed in short dark grey cloth jacket, dax trousers HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the 20th instant, from a field in Bradford, Yorkshire ; a valuable dark brown Filly, 3 years old, 16 hands high , without shoes, clean bred, with long flowing mane. Any person giving such iaformation as may lead to the recovery of the mare, and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to be given to Chief Constable Grauhan, Town Hall, Bradford, York.— Bou- street, June 24. Stolen between the 4th ultimo and the 13th instant, from. Dolwen sheep- walk, near Llandinam Pole : nine Ewes, seven Lambs, and five yearling Wethers, marked with a stroke of red raddle across the loins aad a spot on the sho'jdder ; the sheep are pitch- marked with ' H.' in a compass neaa the crap and the lambs with single ' H.' on the crup, slope mark underneath the off ear, a slit swallow fork in the point of the near ear, aud punch hole in the butt Any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and con- viction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the sheep, shall receive £ 30 reward, or iu proportion to the number of sheep recovered. Stolen from a field at Marton, near Middleaborough, on the night of the 18th instant : an aged dark bay Mare, about 16 hands high, white nose, star on forehead, white hind leg, scar on far hock, fired on both forelegs, nearly thi .- iigh bred, and the appearance of good quality, has a dark mark the size of a crown piece on far shoalder from a. fall, the hair different in colour. Stolen from a field in the borough of Wolverhampton, on the night of the 3rd instant: an aged dark browii Horse, about 15 hands high, grey hairs on off- shoulder and off- side, black legs, broken knees, and forelegs weak. Value, £ 15 to £ 18, Information to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Town Hall, Wolverhampton.— Bow- street, June 19. Found at Roydon, Essex, and now in the possession of Mr. John Akers, Roydon, farmer: a bay | Mare, 14 hands high, star on forehead, small saddle marks, forelegs rather beut, long tail, and in good condition ; supposed to have been stolen. Information to be giveu to Superintendent Simpson, Police Station, Epping, Essex.— Bow- street, June 19. Stolen from a field at Austrey, near Atherstone, the pro- perty of Mr. Wm. Collins, farmer, of Austrey, on the night of the 16th iustant, a iight- browu light cart Horse, aged, from 15 to 1G hands high, long maue aud tail, star om fore- head, lumps on breast, saddle mark on back, and an old wound under the tail : by a mau, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, 32 years of age, and dressed iu a black coat, billycock hat, aud light troupers. £ 5 reward ou apprehension and convic tion of the offender. Absconded ou the 13th instant, stealing £ 25, the monies of his employer, Mr. John Birmingham, Lord Warden Hotel, D iver : ARTHUR YOUNG, 17 years of age, about 5 feet high, slight build, pale complexion, dark hair and eyes, no whiskers; dressed iu black coat, with pockets on hips, blue necktie, paper collar, aud soft felt hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Sanders, Police Station, Dover, who liwlds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 26. Stolen on the 21st instant from Northumberland- street, Strand : a lady's black cloth Jacket, trimmed with black jet butteus, two side pockets on hips, aud a small watch pocket on left side; a black silk Skirt, trimmed with alternative flounces of black silk and velvet; a black silk apron, trimmed with fringe. By a woman, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, fair hair and complexion ; supposed dressed iu the stolen clothes.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 26. Stolen on the 16th instant, from the dwelling- house of Thomas Brian, of Metal Bridge, near Ferry Hill, Durham, a silver lever Watch, No. supposed to be 13694, silver dial, aud steel hands, had attached a plated Guard and Key, with red stone on one side and white the other : by MARY SIMPSON, alias MARY HARRISON, wno entered Brian's service ou the 13th instant and left on the 16th, 19 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, dark complexion and eyes, brown linir, aud proportionate make; supposed to be a native Sunderland : she has been previously convicted of larceny, aqd has been in a reformatory school.
