CONTAINING The substance of all Informations received in eases of Felony and of Misdemeanors of an aggravated nature, and against Receivers of Stolen Goods, reputed Thieves, and Offenders escaped from Custody, with the time, the place, and the circumstance of the Offence. The Names of Persons charged with Offences who are known hut not in custody, and a Description of those who are not known, their Appearance, Dress, and other marks of Identity. The -< ames of Accomplices and Accessories, with every particular which may lead to their Apprehension. Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the pin^ ose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed • offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all betters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. Description of ROBERT HERBERT FINNEY, late an attendant at the Bicton Lunatic Asylum, near Shrewsbury, charged on coroner's warrant with the manslaughter of Thos. Watkins, late an inmate of the said Asylum, on the 12th instant : 21 years of age ( looks older), 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, fight whiskers aud moustache, beard shaved, aud stoops a little ; wore a black frock, or a blue serge, coat. Was previously a letter carrier in Liverpool, Stolen from the person, in the city of Lichfield, on the 9th instant: one gold English Watch, seconds hand, No. 2135 ; attached was a gold ChaiD, cable, pattern,' with Key, in which is set a white Btone with a fleur- de- lis engraved thereon ; also a gold Watch, with the following inscription— ' Preseuted to Rev. Stolen from the person at Winchester Races, on the 10th instant: a black leather Note Case, containing a Cheque for £ o, on the National Provincial Bank, Folkstoue Branch, payable to Captain Fitzroy ; aud a £ 10 Note. Stolen from the person at Bedford, on the 10th instaift : a ptain gold Watch, white enamel face, the hour hand like a man's hand, maker J. Wall, Coventry, No. 1800. £ 5 reward will be paid for the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender. Also, a silver Watch, engine- turned, white enamel face, seconds hand, marked inside of back ' Edmund Goodenough Bayly,' maker Upjohn, King William- street. £ 1 reward will be paid for the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender. Stolen on the night of the 11th instant, at Elland, by means of housebreaking : six silver Tea Spoons and one pair of silver Sugar Tongs, marked ' J. E.'; twelve silver plated Folks, and the following plated articles, all marked ' J. F.' : two Fruit Spoons, two Salt Spoons, two small Ladles, four ' Table Spoons, two Dessert Spoons, one Fruit Dish, having a carved cow for handle ; and one Fruit Stand. The dwelling- house of Mr. Henry Fielding, Wellington- road, Handsworth, was entered between 10 p. m. 11th and 7 a. m. on the 12th instant, and stolen therein : twenty- nine Spoons, nine Table, twelve Dessert, one Mustard ( marked ' H. F.)\ and seven Tea ; nineteen Fork?, ten Dessert, nine Table; two Sauce Ladles; a Fish Slice, ivory handle; six Fish Knives ; four pairs of Nntcrackers, ivory handles ; and five Dessert Knivej, pearl handles; all eleciro- plated. In- formation to be given to Sergeant Steele, Police Station, Handsworth, near Birmingham.— Bow- straetr, June 17. The dwelling- house of Mr. Edward Hunt, Bridgewater Villas, in the borough of Stockport, was broken and entered during the night of the 3rd instant, and stolen therein : six Antimacassers ; a photograph Glass, with white handle and brass rim ; aud a chintz Stool Cover ; the whole of the property was recovered on the 6th instant, at Macclesfield. By a man about 35 years of age, 5 feet finches high, sallow complexion, pockpittea, dark hair, cut short, hollow on bridge of nose ; dressed in blue pilot swinger jacket, light cord trousers, ragged at bottom, iace- up boots, and black billycock hat; he is supposed to come from Dudley Port. He had broken into several houses in the same neighbourhood a few days before the last named ; he was fouud sleeping in an unoccupied house, at Macclesfield, and made his escape leaving the proceeds of the robberies referred to, behind him. The dwelling- house of Mr. William Cook, Grosonor- place, Perry Barr, Handsworth, was entered between 11' 30 p. m. on the 11th and 7' 30 a. m. on the 12th instant, and stolen therein : two doz. ivory- handled Table Knives — one doz. large and one doz. small ; one doz. large size Forks; one doz. Dessert Spoons; a half doz. Table Spoons ; a doz. Tea Spoons ; four Salt Spoons ; a Butter Knife ( all plated silver); one doz. Table Knives— six large and six small, all bone- handled. Between 11 p. m. on the 11th aud 6 a. m. on the 12tli of AGNES MORRIS, remanded until the" 18th instant, 1 instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Ride, miller, charged with arson : 48 years of age, 5 feet high, dark hair, Sheerness, was burglariously broken and entered, and the hazel eyes, lost several teeth from right side cf upper jaw, : following articles stolen therein : a light cloth Coat, new, three scars on back of right hand, second and third fingers of with light glazed lining; a mahogany Pea Box ; about 5s.- left hand split near' nails; dressed iu white cotton suu- worth of Receipt and Postage Stamps ; six Table Spoon3 miug and beaded fringe at bottom ; ditto Ditto, lined with satin, brown metal buttons with glass in centre ; a lady's cashmere Cape, trimmed with lace ; a Mackintosh Coat; and a black alpaca frock Coat, lined with red mixture plaid; the property of Jno. Between 11 p. m. on the 12th, and 6 30 a. m. on the 13th inst., a dwelling- house in the Wirral division, Cheshire, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein : £\ 7s. 8jd. in Money; a small bottle of Irish Whiskey, with the name ' John Godwin, Wirral Hotel' on label; and a pocket Knife, with ivory handle, silver mounted at each end, aud small plate for name on one side, containing six blades, two large and four small, one of them a nail blade. He is supposed to have been convicted for robbing a shop at or near Aberdare, Glamorganshire. A warrant has been issued for the apprehension of GEORGE M. SMITH, charged with larceny of two iron Bedsteads, under the Fraudulent Bailee Act, at Tunbridge Wells : he is about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, fair complexion, dark moustache, much pockpitted, talks aud walks quickly, and has somewhat the appearance of a French- man ; he has been keeping a draper's shop at Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, for the last few months, but left there ou the 8th instant ; he is supposed to have in his possession a pedlar's certificate issued at Tunbridge, Kent. EDMOND GLENISTER, late of No. 1, Bow- lane, Poplar, is charged with embezzlement : 26 years of age, strong lace- up boots, and stiff billycock hat, anil had in his possession a light pepper- and- salt coat, velvet collar, and a vest of same material ; he is a sweep, and well known in Market Rasen and Newark. Absconded from Hanley on the 9tli instant, charged with stealing a Paisley Shawl, a stuff Dress Piece, aad a pair of men's Boots, the property of William Pritchitt : SIMON PHILLIPS, a labourer, 5 feet G or 7 inches high, broad set, nose broken aud very flat; dressed, when last seen, iu mole- skin trousers with white patches on each knee, check cotton shirt, old lace- up boots, and old soft cajfc; he is a native of Glamorganshire, aud well known at Cardiff, Sheffield, Rother- ham, Warrington, and Workington.
