On the morning of the 15th instant, the dead Body of a female Child, newly- born, pinned up in a piece of dirty ! cotton, a piece of a blanket, a piece of oilskin, and an old j black shawl, tied up with two pieces of white tape, was found in Meases- lane, North Shields, and from the medical evidence taken at the inquest, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' against some person or persons unknown was returned. Abscsnded from Nottingham, charged with forgery : EDWIN CHATTAWAY TEMPLE, late secretary to the Midland Counties Hide, Skin, and Fat Market Company Limited : about 62 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 iuches high, small whiskers on sides of face and short moustache, turning grey, sallow complexion ; generally dressed in grey clothes, with a billycock hat, or in a black frock coat and silk hat;. wears an eye- glass, and is a great frequenter of public- houses.! £ 5 reward. Information to be given to Chief Constable Poyntz, Nottingham, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, May 20. Description of WILLIAM MILNER BARRATT, charged on a warrant with uttering a forged Bill of Exchange : j about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, medium build, thin face, red hair, ginger whiskers and moustache ; dressed in grey co& t and vest, dark trousers, and black felt billycock hat; he is a gasfitter by trade, and has worked for the Elland Gas Company, near Halifax, and for Messrs. 1 J. B. Porters and Co., gas engineers, Lincoln ; his father is manager for the Accrington Gas Company. Information j to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Leeds.— Bow- street, May 15. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at the Midland Railway Station, Newark- on- Trent, Notts, on the 14th instant: a gold English lever Watch, second hands, aud opens iu front; also a gold Watch, maker Liddel and Sons, Edinburgh, No. 1G81. In- _ formation to be given to Superintendent Osborne, County » Police Station, Newark, Notts.— Bow- street, May 18. Stolen from the person on Ely Racecourse, on the 1st instant: a silver lever Watch, No. 18048, with ' John Davies' engraved inside on the winding case. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the recovery of the watch and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Sadler, Bridgend, or to Inspector Adams, Penarth, Glamorganshire. - Bow- street, May 15. Stolen from the person at Waterhouses, near Durham, on the 10th instant : a silver lever Watch, very old outer case, much worn, white dial, cracked all over. No. 20526, maker George Asplin, Wigan, had a paper inside, with ' Thomas Ruddy, 11361' on it. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Dunn, County Constabulary, Durham.— Bow- street, May 15. Stolen from the person of Mr. George Morris, wine - merchant, Welshpool, at Chester Races, on the 13th instant a gold Geneva Watch, white dial, the long hand broken, and on the inside of the inner case is engraved ' Jewelled in ten holes,' attached to which was a gold albert Chain, with a small Seal and a gold Dollar. £ 5 reward will be paid by Mr, Morris on the recoyery of the said watch, chain, & e., and BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 8 a. m. aud 4 p. m. on the 20th instant, the cottage of Thomas Allman, Knotter, via Overton, Flintshire, was entered by breaking a square of glass in the window, and undoing the catch, during the absence of the inmates, and stolen therein : a black cloth Coat, pockets on hips; two black cloth Vests, a pair of striped tweed Trousers, a pair of men's elastic- side Boots, have been repaired; a pair of women's lace- up Boots, have been repaired ; a small diaper Table Cloth, and 12s. Supposed by tramps ; a small pair of clogs were left on the premises. Information to be given to Superintendent Bolton, Hanmer, or to Sergeant Matthews, Overton, Flintshire.— Bow- street, May 22. On the 14th instant a cottage at Quedgley was broken into [ and stolen therein : a black suit of Clothes ; a large double case silver verge hunting Watch, maker Alexander Smart, South Audley street, Grosvenor- square, London, No. 628; a silver guard Chain with steel Ring and brass Key attached ; a pair of dark grey Trousers ; a pair of men's light sprigged lace- up Boots, a hole in front of one of them ; a new white Slop, with brass buttons, tar on under side of left arm near the elbow; a blue silk Necktie with white stripes ; the black suit has been found pledged in Glou- cester, by a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, rather thin, small features, thin dark whiskers ; dressed in a black bowler hat, wore the stolen white slop, and gave his name as JOHN THOMAS, of Wrexham. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Griffin, Constabulary Office, Gloucester.— Bow- street, May 20. During the night of the 17th instant the granary of Mr- Charles Wood, of South Dalton, in the East Riding of Yorki was broken into, and two Hams,' about 2i'stones weight eaclii packed in two white cotton bags stolen therefrom. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Naylor, East RidiDg Constabulary, Beverley.— Bow- street, May 20. Between 8 a. m. and 7 p. m. on the 14th instant, the cottage of Thomas Cox, of Quedgley, was entered by a window that was not fastened, during the absence of the inmates, and stolen therein : a pair of dark grey Trousers; a black cloth single- breasted Jacket, with black cloth buttons and flaps at sides; a black cloth Vest; a pair of black cloth Trousers ; a silver Geneva Watch, silver Guard Chain with Key and steel Ring attached. Supposed by tramps. Infor- mation to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Griffin, Police Office, Gloucester.— Bow- street, May 18. During the night of the 13th or morning of the 14th instant, the Essex Arms Hotel, Watford, was broken into, and a quantity of Cigars, a metal Brandy Flask, and a pair of elastic- side Boots, quite new, toe- capped, and bradded at bottom, were stolen therein. Infoiuiation to be given to Inspector Chapman, Watford, Herts.— Bow- Street, May 18. The beerhouse of Mary Shilliogford, at Haddenham, was broken into between 6 aud 8 p. m. on the 10th instant, and £ 8 in Gold and a £ 5 Bank of England Note, No. D | 43 34376, stolen therein. Information to be given to Superintendent Denson, Police Station, Aylesbury, Bucks.— Bow- st., May 18. On the afternoon of the 14th instant the dwelling- house of Mr. John Mayhew, of Dunuington, near York, was entered, and one Sovereign and two Half- Sovereigns iu Gold, and 5s. in Silver was stolen. A man of the following des- cription was seen on the premises about the time, about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, light complexion, large sandy bushy whiskers ; dressed in a pepper- and- salt sac coat, fustian trousers, black cap, with dark strings tied over the top, walked very erect, and had the appearance of a soldier, he was traced on the high .-/ ay going in the direction of Hull. Stolen from Woking, Surrey, ou the 15th iust. : a Pony, Cart, and Harness ( since recovered): by a mau, 23 yrs. of age, 5 feet 3 iuches high, pitted with small- pox, sandy whiskers, aud stout make; dressed iu dark coat, cord trousers, aud round felt hat; travels with another man, with a very old home- made hand barrow, long shafts, collecting rags and bones, aud stops at lodging- houses ; Was last heard of at Kingston, on Jthe 16th instant. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Baiker, Surrey Constabulary, Guildford.— Bow- street, May 20. Description of JAS. JOHNSON, a travelling hawker, who is reniauded to the 2Cth iustaut, cliargtd with attempting to steal a Mare, Bridle, aud Saddle, at Abergavenny, on the 14th instant : he is 29 years of age, 5 feet 6j iuches high, fur complexion, sandy hair, and pimples on his face as if from drinking ; dressed in a hard black bowler hat, black jacket, aud light cord trousers ; he is a native of Glossop, Derbyshire ; states he has a mother living at Bank- terrace, Glossop, but has not been there for two years. Information to be given to Superintendent Freeman, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire.— Born- street, May 18. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of RUFUS LINCOLN, who absconded from Horsford on the 5th instant, charged with embezzling £ 2 2s. 6d., the property of his master, Mr. Francis Boyce, of Shottisham, a miller, on the 29th July last : he is about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark hair, blue eyes, whiskers ( turning grey) inclined to be sandy, has a moustache, scar from burn on chin and throat, and stiff joint in one arm from the effects of a burn. Information to be given to Superintendent Riches, Loddon, or to Police Constable Hubbard, Horsford, Norfolk, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 22. Description of WILLIAM DAVJS, a tailor's assistant, who absconded from Middlesbrough on the 19th instant charged on a warrant with embezzling several sums of Money belonging to Messrs. Thompson and Sons, tailors : ha is a native of Bath, 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, sallow complexion, thin face, sunken eyes, long chin, brown hair, moustache and tuft under chin fair, small whiskers, slender figure, square shoulders, and has an impediment inhis> speech; dressed in a blue cloth frock coat, dark trousers, and black silk hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable Sagger- son, Middlesbrough, York.— Bow street, May 22. Charged on a warrant with stealing on the 15ti instant, £ 120 : SHADRACH SIMPSON, about 36 yeass of age, 5 feet 10J inches high, dark hair, turning grey, cut short, dark grey moustache, small imperial whiskers, and beard shaved off, dark eyes, limps with right leg, of military ap- pearance, and good address; Rupposed to be wearing a suit of corded dark blue cloth. £ 10 reward will be paid by the owners of the money to any person giving such information as will lead to his apprehension and recovery of the money,, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Further particulars respecting GEORGE EDWARD FOULKES and CHARLES PARRY, advertised in ti » Police Gazette of the 13th instant, and for whose apprehen- sion a reward of £ 5 is offered. They have been traced to Oxford, and are now supposed to be in London Information to be given to Superintendent Haines, County Constabulary, Whitchurch, Salop.— Bow- street, May 20. Stolen during the night of the 16th instant, from tbje dwelling- house of Henry Watts, chimney sweep, St. Alban's: a black cloth Coat, with a pocket on each side, and one in left breast; a new double- breasted black Vest; a calico Shirt; aud a pair of Socks. By a sweep named JOHN EVANS, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stifi build, no whiskers, high cheek bones, hair cut short ; dressed in an old browu coat, white slop uuderneath, light trousers, but may be wearing a pair of black ones, light billycock bat, and side- spring boots ; he said he came from Nottingham. In- formation to be given to Superintendent Pike, Police Station, St. Alban's, Herts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. ! - - Bow- street, May 20. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Castleford, Yorkshire, on the 9th instant : a black cloth dress Coat; a pair of black cloth Trousers, fall fronts, lining pieced at bottom ; a black and white plaid Vest; four silk Neckties, of different colours ; 1 a sealskin Cap ; a gold Pin ; a pair of blue striped Trousers ; a light- coloured dogskin Vest; a light cloth Vest; a silk Handkerchief ; a white aud green Muffler; two white calico Shirts ; two sets of Shirt Studs, black on one side and gilt on the other ; a pair of browu worsted Stockings ; and £ 4 da. 9d. in Gold aud Silver ; the property of William Summers, labourer. By WILLIAM WILTON, a collier, who lodged 1 in the house a week, when he absconded with the property : about 27 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion, grey eyes, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, proportionate build ; dressed in a dark cloth blue striped suit, soft billycock hat, and elastic- side boots ; he is supposed to belong to Durham or Cumberland. Wilton lately worked in the county of Durham, and was known by the name of WM. RAN- DALE, alias NORRIS. Information to be given to Super- intendent Hall, West Riding Constabulary, Pontefract, who holds a warrant for lti* apprehension.— Bow- street, May 20. Description of FREDERICK SISLEY, charged on a warrant with embezzling about £ 50, belonging to the Mutual Loan Fund Association, by whom he had been employed as clerk : about 21 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, dark comp'exion, very slight moustache, rather bow- legged, proportionately made, and of respectable appearance. Sup- posed in London. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, May 18. Description of GEORGE PLUMB, charged with selling a load of Hay, the property of Mark Elvidge, at Hatfield, and absconding with the money on the 14th ultimo : he is 42 yrs. of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, light brown hair, whiskers all rouud the face, much darker thau his hair ; dressed in dark pilot jacket, cord trousers, tied up with string below the knees, and black willy hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunt, Hertford, or to Inspector Bourne, Hatfield, Heits, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Mmy 18. Description of THOMAS VIPOND, charged with em- bezzling £ 6 8s., the monies of his employers : lie is about 24 years of age, 5 feet 7 iuches high, light browu hail", sallow complexion, large eyes, small moustache, no whiskers, is a slater by trade, and speakg yi^ a West Riding of Y'ork dialect, hii father resides in Partington. Stolen on the 9tU instant, from Norfolk- street, Strand : two seta of gold Studs, one plain, and one embossed ; two gold Studs, embossed ; a gold scarf Ring, chased ; a gold scarf Pin, tly ou top ; a pair of gold sleeve links, embossed ; a rough monkey jacket; a pair of light mixture Trousers and Vest ° a billycock Hat; a pair of lace Boots, narrow toes, books, and eyelets ; a coloured Shirt, Byron collar ; a mauve Necktie, imitation sailor's knot ; and a pair of light balbriggan Socks. By a private iu the Oth Dragoon Guards, stationed at Hounslow, Regimental No. 1199, 23 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion and hair, no whiskers or moustache, slim build, of gentlemanly appearance ; dressed in the stolen clothes.— Metropolitan. Police, E Decision, Hay 13. Absconded on the 7th instant, from Falmouth, THOS. BURROW, taking with him a black leather Bag, supposed to have the name of the firm on it, containing about £ 2- 0 in Gold and Silver, the property of his late employers John Freeman and Sons, of Penryn, Cornwall: he is 32 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, slender, sallow complexion, dark hair, moustache, and whiskers, the latter thin and long, very short- sighted, and generally wears spectacles, with gold frames of very light make, aud is of gentlemanly address. Had in his possession a brown leather portmanteau, con- taining a revolver. £ 20 reward will be given for his appre- hension. Information to be given to Superintendent Grant, Helsten, Cornwall, or to Inspector Middle, Falmouth, who holds a warrant for his appreheusion.— Bow- street, May 13. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded from Salisbury. Wilts, on the 5th instant, charged on a warrant with having maliciously wounded a retriever dog, belonging to Mr. Wm. Leach, of Castle- street, Salisbury, on the 4th iustaut : Dr. Baxley^ an American, about G5 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches nigh, grey beard and moustache, long grey projecting eyebrows, of slight build; dressed iu dark clothes, aud occasionally a light brown topcoat, and a soft black billycock hat. Two Guineas will be given for his apprehension. Information to be given to Head Constable White, or to Inspector Mathews, City Police Station, Salisbury, Wilts.— Bow- s'. rect, May 20. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Description of GEORGE NASH, charged on a warrant with obtaining Money by fake pretences : about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, ( lark complexion, round full face, dark brown hair, thick dark moustache, whiskers shaved oil'; generally die sed iu a dark mixed suit aud black Oxfoid hat. He is a collector uud went with his father at the com- mencement of the year to the towns in the eastern parts of Sussex and Kent, also to Bath and Bristol U) get signatures to a petition iu favour of the Permissive Bill. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— How- street, May 22. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of a man and woman, charged with stealing from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Cooper, at Weston- Super- Mare, Somerset, on the 18th instant : au old- fashioned square linked gold Chain, of the value of £ 2 10'. : the man is abont 35 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers ; clressed in dark cap and suit, has a down- cast look, and stated that he was a wheelwright. The woman is about 50 years of age, stout, hair turning grey, eyes inflamed aud bloodshot, has a large tumour on the top of her head, and gets her living by obtaining money, representing it to be for the purpose of enabling her to get to a hospital to have the tumour removed, hair combed forward and turned back ; dressed respectably. Information to be giveu to Superinten- dent Gillbanks, Somerset Constabulary, Axbridge, or to Ser- geant Hardwick, Weston- Super- Mare, Somerset, who holds the warrant.— Bow- street, May 22. Description of a tramping cabinet maker, remanded at the Police Station, Linslade, on two charges of larceny : CHARLES HARDYKING, 157 years of age, 5 feet 5 iuches high, light hair and small short whiskers, pale complexion, bine eyes ; dressed in brown mixture coat, light vest, dark striped trousers, hard hat, and side- spring boots, all very much worn, and having in his possession a small tc- nnant Saw, two black handled Table Knives, and a small Hammer, sup- posed to have been stolen between London and Leighton- Bnzzard. Information to be given to Inspector Sapwell, Police Station, Linslade, Bucks.— Bow- street, May 22. Absconded from Stoke Reformatory', two youths : one 1C years of age, 5 feet 2 iuches high, fair complexion, freckled face, red hair, brown eyes, and walks badly ; the other 16 years of age, 4 feet 10 incites high, fair complexion, light brown hair, and hazel eyes. Both are supposed to be dressed in cotton cord suits, tartan scarves, felt hats, aud strong rivetted boots ; both are natives of Birmingham, but supposed to be cramping the country together. £ I reward each will be paid for their apprehension. Description of a man in custody at Beverley, East York, charged with poultry stealing : he gives the name of CORNELIUS LEAK, aud states he has no fixed residence, about 51 years of age, 5 feet 4 incl es high, light brown hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion, a labourer, has lost right leg, blue marks ou face, right arm burnt, and nearly blind of right eye. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Navlor, East Riding Constabulary, Beverley.— — Bow- street, May 22. Description of a man Darned PATRICK DONOVAN, committed for trial for Housebreaking, near Howden : he is 22 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, grey eyes, rather sore with a ca> st in them, dark brown hair cut short, whiskers ( black) shaved oii', and fresh complexion ; dressed in a brown mixture tweed shooting coat, corduroy trousers, grey waist- coat, old raddy hard felt hat, and cloth boots, woman's style ; says he is a groom, ancl knows the East- end of Loudon well. G ins. high, dark eyes, pale complexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers, dark brown moustache, and small patch on tip of bottom lip, and chin shaved clean ; dressed in dark grey tweed coat and vest, dark striped trousers, dark blue overcoat, black cashmere box hat, and low shoes. Information to be given to Inspector Robertson, Police Station, Howden, East Riding, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, May 22. Committed for trial at the quarter Sessions to be holden at Dorchester on the 30th June, charged with stealing two Coats from a shop : HENRY PHILLIPS, 36 years of ag » , 5 feet 4i inches high, hazel eyes, dark complexion, dark brown hair, scar on left eye ; dressed in black coat and vest, brown striped trousers, and dark cap ; and JOHN ADAMS, 26 years of age, 5 feet 4Jt inches high, blue eyes, fair com plexion, light brown hair, blue chain mark lound each wrist, and sailor on right arm, pockpitted, bruise mark over left eye ; dressed in black monkey jacket, moleskin trousers and- vest, aud Scotch cap. They both state that they beloDg to Charlotte Street, Portsmouth, which, as well as their names, is supposed to be false. Description of SARAH VINE, alias ANN COLE remanded at Slough until the 27th instant, charged with larceny : 50 years of age, 5 feet high, sallow complexion, dark brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, has lost her upper front teeth ; dressed in grey moreen, paisley shawl, pine pattern, black lace bonnet, cashmere si<-' e lace- up boots with patent fronts, had two gold rings on lingers, one set with three light green and six small dark green stones, the other set with three red stones. She says she is a native of Milford Haven, South Wales, and has lived at Dover aud Deal. Had in her possession some religious books, a small black leather bag, a black alpaca umbrella, a new black aud white cotton dress, a dark grey linsey ditto, a lilac cotton ditto, a black cashmere shawl, a woman's flannel shirt, marked ' S. M Cole,' in blue cotton.
