W.," as they cannot be published without fciis authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING, At a few minutes past 0 o'clock on the evening of the 22nd December last, Francis Wynn was attacked by a man - it present unknown, severely assaulted aud knocked down, as he left Wrigley's eating- house in West- street, in the borough of Oldham, and died ou the 1st ultimo, from the effects of the injuries received. At an inquest held on the body on the 9th ultimo, the jury returned a verdict of ' Wilful Murder ' against the man who inflicted those injuries. He is supposed to be an Irishman and a shoemaker, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, black whiskers; dressed in billycock nat, old greasy black clothes, and old shoes. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by Her Majesty's Government to any person who shall give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and convictiou of the murderer, and the Home Secretary will advice the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the person who actually committed the murder, who shall give such evidence as shall lead to a like result. By 1lirect March 9 a man of the following description : about 25 years of age, j ' ' 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, fresh complexion, slightly marked j with smallpox, dark brown hair and slight moustache, slender HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING, figure, and has a smart appearance ; when last seen he was dressed iu a dark shooting coat with brass buttons, dark FORGERY. THOMAS BAIRSTOW or BASTOW, charged with forgery and stealing from railways, some years since a grocer's assistant, about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, bald in front and top of head, very light hair or light sandy at the sides, rather long sandy whiskers, shaved on the chin, mole on the cheek, red mark on the end of nose, cut over the left eye, aud a native of Selby in Yorkshire; was tried at the Manchester City Sessions in April, 1859, for stealing £ 95, and sentenced to D mouths imprisonment, and « ince supposed to have had 5 years penal servitude for utter- ing a forged Post Office Order; dressed in a grey mixture coat, top hat, and very bad boots. Is well known to the Manchester Police. He was convicted at Crewe on the 4th September, 1873, of stealiug a Portmanteau and other va- luable property at Crewe Station, and sentenced to 4 mouths imprisonment in the name of DAVID BROWN. Stolen on the 3rd instant, from Tillington, near Here- ford : a dark brown horse Pony, about 1H hands high, tail cut eff a little above the hocks, and long coat. The Horse and Trap stolen from Shrewsbury by a man, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 27th January last, has not yet been recovered. £ 5 reward will be giveu for his apprehension and recovery of the property by the owner, Mr. George Oswell, Coal Proprietor, Shrewsbury. The mare is a bay, aged, about 15 hands 1 inch and two or three Hams, about 22 lbs. each. A gold ^- hunting keyless lever Watch, with compensa- tion balance, polished case, with monogram ' H. L. B.' and crest— a cat, with motto-' A Cruce Salus,' in blue enamel on the back, the property of the Hon. H. Bourke. A small silver Watch, white dial, small black hands. Station, Macclesfield, or to Sergeant Garner, Police Station, Wilmslow, Cheshire.— Bonn- street, March 13. Charged with shopbreaking, at Manchester : CHARLES PARKER, 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, blue eyes, light brown hair, fresh complexion, prominent nose, and has lost the first finger off oue hand. Was sentenced to 6 years penal servitude on the 23rd of March, 1863, for burglary at Warwick, and has been convicted of several burglaries at Birmingham. £ 5 reward and all expenses will be paid for his apprehension. Stolen by means of housebreaking, supposed by a tramp, on the 8th instant : an old blue pilot cloth reefing Jacket, two outside pockets, black wood buttons, plaid lining, which is repaired iu several places with dill'erent coloured material, some spots of lime 011 it; and a square piece of woollen Shirting, grey, white aud red check, which was hemmed. Absconded foom his lodgings at Rbymney iron works, on the 21st ultimo, charged with stealiug a silver case Geneva Watch, engiue- turned back, white china dial, steel hands with secouds, with about 9 iuches of a black horse- hair Guard, and a flat brass Key attached, the key has ' Faller, Rhvniney,' on oue side, and ' Watchmaker and Jeweller,' on the other, the property of George Long : THOS. FOSTER, or FOSTERN, about 24 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, proportionate figure, light complexion, slightly pockpitted, light hair, no whiskers ; dressed iu a dark blue cloth jacket, single- breasted, pockets on hips aud one outside left breast, grey cloth vest, buttoning up to throat, a half- worn blue pilot cloth trousers, military boots, ' T. II.' on inside tougue, a new black cloth cap, aud a black and red plaid English flannel shirt; he says On the night of the 5th instant, the dwelling- houses of be is a native of Woolwich, and has served iu the Royal Mr. E. M. Description of THOMAS FLINT, late of Manchester, charged with stealing from Lostock Railway Station, on the 28th ultimo : a • brown leather Portmanteau, with * J. S. Grafton ' engraved on a brass plate, and a gentleman's Satchel, containing a Breastpin, enamel set in silver ; two Neckties, one black silk or satin, with red spots ; a small wooden Writing- case ; a Stud- case ; 2 vols, of ' Adventures of Phaeton ;' two pairs of angola Socks ; a Book, ' Bishop's Glees;' and a paper Parcel, containing Letters, News papers, & c. He is 35 or 36 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, very dark complexion, small black whiskers, heavy moustache, dark suukeu eyes, a boil or boil marks ou each side of his neck, of good address; dressed in black billycock hat, black cloth coat, black and green stripes trousers, patch on one knee, and eld elastic- side boots. He is supposed to have a relative in Northampton. Description of ELIZA, wife of Patrick Gafney, late of rainhill, near Saint- Helens, bailed for trial at the Kirkdale Quarter Sessions, on the 20th January last, on a charge of lareeny, and who failed to surrender herself: 41 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; dressed when last seen in an old dirty black bonnet, old grey shawl, aud elastic- side boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Ludlam, Police Office, Saint- Helens, Lancashire, who holds a warrant for her apprehen- sion.— Bow- street, March 11. Stolen from a dwelling- house at North Ormesby, near Middlesbrough, on the 9th instant : a blue cloth Jacket, man's size, double breasted, and nearly new, black silk velvet collar, bound rouud with black braid, two pockets outside, right one has been torn and mended, and one pocket inside left breast and black lining ; also a red silk pocket Handker- chief with drab dowers. By a man, a lodger, about 24 or 25 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion and hair, small moustache, aud no whiskers; is a sailor, but sometimes works as a labourer at iron works ; dressed in a dark blue cap with peak, tbe stolen jacket ( his old one being left behind), grey mixture cloth vest aud trousers, and Wel- lirgton boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Simpson, North Ridiug Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Robson, Police Station, North Ormesby, Middles- brough.— Bow- street, March 11. Description cf HENRY SIMS, charged with stealing £ 58, at Southampton, on the 4th instant; he is 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, whis- kers, and moustache, two upper front teeth out; dressed in dark melton overcoat, dark mixture trousers, with light stripes, about a quarter of an inch apart; has been in the army, and was recently employed as a grocer's porter ; had with him a new black leather portmanteau, bound with brown leather binding. He is accompanied by a young woman, 17 years of age, tall and thin, long face, brown hair, brown dress, and black hat, trimmed with violet velvet aud wing. Information to be given to Head Constable Breary, Southampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bovi- street, March 11, Stolen on the 7th instant, from Turnham- green : 3 diamond Shirt Studs, open setting in gold and black enamel. Several sets of fancy ditto Sleeve Studs. 5 gold Brooches, one enamelled Indian, photograph of a gentleman at back ; one surrounded with gold knobs; one small, iu form of a bow, gold pendant; one with ear- rings in shape of skates ; one small, surrounded with pearls, hair in centre. 2 pairs gold Ear- rings, one set with turquoise, one with tive balls on each. 1 Brooch and pair of Ear- rings, jet and steel. 1 steel Bracelet. 2 pearl Cap Pins. Sundry jet Ornaments 1 silver Card- case, with initials ' E. A. M.' By three men, dressed in dark pea jackets, and billycock hats. — Metropolitan Police, T Division, March 11. Description of JOSEPH CLAGG, dogger, who is charged with felony : about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9J inches high, auburn hair, small sandy whiskers, sallow complexion, medium build, very erect and smart walker, fond of singing and dancing, and a native of Lancashire. He was accom- panied by a woman, about 39 years of age, about 5 feet 6 ins. high, daik eyes and hair, sallow complexion, full rough face, scar on nose, stout and well built, speaks Welsh and English fluently, bold appearance, and fond of visiting public- houses. Information to be given to Police Constable Vaughan, Llanhaiadr, via Oswestry, Denbighshire.— Bow- st., March 11. Absconded on the 20th ultimo, from the dwelling- house of Timothy Donohue, Newtown Ebbw Yale Iron Works, in the parish of Aberystruth, charged with stealing a new grey fancy flannel Shirt, with a black stripe running through from top to bottom, the top aud bottom buttons in bosom are larger than the others ; the property of Michael Megan, a lodger ; also, from the same house, and at the same time, a pair of light Bedford cord Trousers, ribbed, with a dark stripe down each leg, fly fronts, brass buttons in waist and fronts, had a baud with a buckle behind back, are not lined, and are about half woru ; the property of Patrick Murphy, another lodger : JOHN FITZGERALD, a labourer, and a native of Kerry, Ireland, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, rather full face, crooked nose, cast in both eyes, whiskers recently shaved off; dressed in old brown cloth coat, old dark cord waistcoat ( such as are worn uy railway poiters), old dirty trousers, either duck or moleskin, with patches on knees ( or may be wearing the stolen ones), and dark cloth or velvet cap. Information to be given to Superintendent Fowler, Tredegar Iron Works, Monmouthshire, who holds the warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, March 11. about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, light brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, full round face ; dressed in moleskin trousers, old dark- ribbed t'acket, blue check shirt, black billycock hat, and elastic- eide loots ; is a sinker by trade. Information to be given to Superintendent Hill, Brownhills, near Walsall, or to Sergeant Evans, Cannock, near Stafford, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- rt*' « t, March 9. Description of JAMES GOLDS, a butcher, charged on warrant with embezzling Money belonging to Ambrose Funnell, at Brighton, ou the 19th ultimo : about 32 years cf age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, light complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, cast iu one eye, walks lame, very dirty appearance, a drunkard, frequents low beerhouses ; sup- posed to have gone to Tonbridge or neighbourhood. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, March 9. Further information respecting MATTHEW STRINGER advertised in the Police Gazette of the 23rd ultimo, charged with stealing from the dwelling- house of Isaac Cooper, at Oakengates, Salop, on the 20th ultimo: two black cloth Jackets, one recovered ; a pair of moleskin Trousers ; a pair of strong lace- up Boots; a pair of woolleu Stockiugs ; a woollen Shirt; a cotton Shirt, with black stars ; two Scarves, with black and white stripes; two bundle Handkerchiefs, with blue stripes; two Pocket- handkerchiefs ; aud a black soft billycock hat. He is about 22 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches higb, dark hair and complexion, little or no whiskers, and rather rough blotchy face. States he has a brother named Caleb Stringer, a fishmonger and greengrocer, living at Leeds. He also exchanged ou the 19th ultimo, a silver verge Watch, silver- coloured dial, brass hands and figures, engraved on inside inner case ' J. C., 87,' also engraved on inside of outer case ' J. C. and No. 7287,' supposed to have been stolen ; he also left behind him three pawntickets, one for a pair of Boots, pledged at Higg^, Stafford- st., Dudley, for 2s. 6d., on December 8th, 1873, iu the name of Henry Redlin ; one for a pair of Boots, pledged at Hugh Hannay's, Wolverhampton- street, Dudley, December 9th, 1873, for 5s; oue for a pair of Gloves, pledged at Mr. Geo, Whitwell's, Market- street, Stourbridge, 26th November, 1873, for Is. 6d., in the name of George Arbge. Found in the possession of a tramp, committed to the Worcester Prison, for fourteen days for vagrancy : a piece of black Cloth, such as is used for covering coffins, about 3 yards long; several pieces of new Calico ; a strong new Pocket Knife ; and a large pair of Scissors ; all supposed to have been stolen. Gives the name of WITFIELD CLEMENTS, and says he belongs to Brooklyn, New York, about 56 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, grey hair, no whiskers, and fresh complexion ; had on two dark jackets, black and white plaid trousers, large pattern, with patches on each knee, and soft black hat.
