Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or tending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. W. D. BUKNABT, the Editor, Police Court, Bow Street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offenoe charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article .• n the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Nainos and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War OiHce, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. At 3- 30 p. m. on the 11th instant, the dead body of a Julu 11 Stand, oval shape, four feet with antique heads, and holds four Cruets. A short, well dressed man, who was seen on the premises, is suspected. Information to be given to Sergeant Hackney, handsworth, near Birmingham, Warwick. — Bow- street, July 16. About 2 a. m. on the 9th instant, the dwelling- house of the Rev. Walter Fordham, of Caversham, was broken into and the following articles stolen therein : a piece of boiled Beef; two London Missionary Society's boxes, containing about lis. ; a round magnifying Glass, with black handle; and a tin of Cakes. Supposed by a man about 5 feet 6 inches high, brown hair and complexion, no whiskers, has a beard of several days' growth, very thin face, and mole or wart on one side of face near the mouth ; dressed in a black round hat, light tweed overcoat buttoned in front, pockets outside, dark trousers, and old light shoes ; has the appearance of a deserter from the army. Information to be given to Super- intendent Coates, Henley- on- Thames, Surrey.— Bow- street, July 14. Between 11 a. m. and 6 p. m. on the 8th instant, the cot- tage of Edward Evans, of Newcastle, parish of Clun, Salop, was broken and entered, and the following articles of wearing apparel stolen therein : a black cloth Jacket, has been torn and sewn up on left side ; a black cloth vest ; a pair of woollen cord Trousers ; a dark grey Jacket; a double breasted Vest, blue, with white stripes across it; a black silk Handkerchief; a black Hat, soft top, with wire round the brim ; 4 calico Shirts, one with linen front ; 3 pairs of Stockings, white, blue, and grey, and a pair of strong watertight boots. By a tramp who will be wearing the stolen clothing, as he left his old clothing near the cottage, including a pair of old militia boots, stamped ' R. D. R. 1872.' Information to ue given to Super- intendent Baxter, Church Stretton, Shropshire.— Bm- street, female child was found i » a ditch on Clifton Marsh, near Runcorn, wrapped in an old coarse white apron. A post- mortem examination was made on the following day, when it appealed that the scull was fractured, and that the navel string had not been tied, and an open verdict was returned. During the night of the 4th inttant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Treplin, Leek Wootton, near Kenilworth, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : an old- fashioned oval silver Tea Pot, black ebony handle and knob, shield on each side, plain otherwise; a silver Butter has a spavin on the right hock and white fetlock on the same side, star on the forehead, and has a large bald place under the belly where the hair lias been rubbed off by the bellyband; the property of George Smith. Information to be given to Superintendent Raby, Great Witley, or to Sergeant Ganderton, Police Office, Stourport, Worcestershire.— Bow- street, July 14. Description of JOHN PUGH, who is charged with stealing a Horse, on the 2nd instant, at Birmingham : about 24 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, slight beard, and no whiskers ; has been in the army, and in ser- vice. The horse is a bay gelding, sged, 16 hands high, knees cut, black points, and in very poor condition. Two guineas reward will be paid on the apprehension and conviction of Pugh, and two guineas on recovery of the horse. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Glossop, Birmingham, Warwickshire, who holds a warrant for the apprehension of Pugh.— Bens- street, July 14. Stolen from a field at Matlock Bridge, between the 5th and 7th inBtant: an aged grey or nearly white Horse, about 15 hands high, a small jack spavin on each hind leg, for which he has been fired, with middling of hair on his legs. Information to be given to Superintendent Sharpe, Police Station, Wirksworth, Derby.— Bow- street, July 14. Stolen on the Cth instant, from a stable in London- street, Dockhead : an iron grey cob Gelding, aged, 14 hands high, lame off hind leg, both knees bent forward, scar near fore foot, wall eyed near side. By two men, one 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, short beard, slight moustache ; dressed in light coat, pockets in sides, black trousers and vest, round soft felt hat. The other 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout, fair complexion, no beard ; dressed in blue reefing jacket, black and white striped tweed vest, dark tweed trousers.— Metropolitan Police, M Dit'uion, July 11. On the 13th iustant, the dwelling- house of Mr. John Lea, farmer, at Warton, in the parish of Polesworth, in the county of Warwick, was broken and entered, and about £\ 5 in Monies stolen therein. Whoever will give such informa- tion as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders, shall receive £ 15 reward on application to Mr. John Lea. M. Smyth' in red ink ; a red Petticoat; with a flounce ; a babe's white silk Hat, trimmed with white satin, and crown with raised flowers ; a white damask Table Cloth, marked ' M. M. WILLIAM SMITH, alias HILL, lately a labourer in Crewe works, about 20 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, pale looking, sunburnt, and blue eyes; dressed in a light reefer jacket, round black billycock hat, aud off fetlock white. Description of a man named HENRY JEPSON, late of John- street, Ashton- under- Lyne, and carrying on business of a felt hat manufacturer, who absconded from Ashton- under- Lyne, taking with him a large sum of Money, witn intent to defraud his creditors, and for whose apprehension a FOX, a native of Ramsgate, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches I warrant under the Bankruptcy Act is granted : about 49yrs. high, well made, very dark swarthy complexion, clean shaved ; () f agCi about 5 feet 4 inches high, very dark complexion, dressed iu an old black coat, old dark vest and trousers, and Wack hair, bushy black whiskers, no moustache, rather broad low crowned black felt hat.
