Stolen from the person at the siege operations at New Brompton, Gillingham, Kent, on the 3rd instant : a gold Geneva Watch, maker Pleaser, Broad- street, Bloomsbury, white dial, and chased on outside case ; a plain gold Hunting watch, maker Moore, No. 5793, gold albert Chain, Key, and gold Coin attached ; a gold open- face Watch, gold dial, black hands, maker Jackson, Clerkenwell, London, No. 26280 ; and a silver lever Watch, maker Benson, No. 3176. Stolen during Carlisle Races, on the 1st and 2nd instant, the following property : a gold lever hunting Watch, 18 carat, with Scotch thistle on face case, maker John Forrest, London, aud gold Guard or Chain, stamped ' 15 carat' on every link, with a United States one dollar- piece attached ; a gold lever hunting Watch, No. 015, ' D. Information to be given to Chief Constable Bent, Carlisle, Cumberland.— Bow- street, July 7. Stolen from the person of George Lee, in Great Bridge- street, Westbromwich, on the 1st instant: a large- sized silver verge stop Watch, No. 2521, white dial, cracked, gold hands, has the name ' George Lee' engraved on inner case, and the initials ' G. L.' on back of outer case; also a gold albert Chain, enlarged at middle, aud tapering towards either end, has a glass pendant attached, which coutains a gilt Shilling, of the Reign of George the fourth, dated 1825, with lion and crown on the reverse side. £ 1 reward will be paid for such information as will lead to the recovery of the property, and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Woollaston, Police Office, West- bromwich, or to Sergeant Smith, Police Station, Greets Green, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, July 4. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. Between 11 a m. and 0 p. m. on the 8th instant, the cot- tage of Edward Evans, of Newcastle, parish of Clun, Salop, was broken and entered, and the following articles of wearing apparel stolen therein : a black cloth Jacket, has been torn and sewn upon leftside ; a black cloth vest ; a pair of woollen cord Trousers ; a dark grey Jacket; a double breasted Vest, blue, with white stripes across it; a black silk Handkerchief ; a black Hat, soft top, with wire round the brim ; 4 calico Shirts, one with linen front; 3 pairs of Stockings, white, blue, and grey, and a pair of strong watertight boots. By a tramp who will be wearing the stolen clothing, as he left his old clothing near the cottage, including a pair of old militia boots, stamped ' R. D. R. 1872.' Information to ue given to Super- intendent Baxter, Church Stretton, Shropshire.— Bow- street, July 11. During the night of the 4th initant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Treplin, Leek Wootton, near Kenilworth, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : an old- fashioned oval silver Tea Pot, black ebony handle and knob, shield on each side, plain otherwise; a silver BuUer Knife, plain ivory handle, small crack near blade ; a silver Fish Knife and Fork, silver handle, chased work on blade of knife. A reward of £ 10 will be paid by Mr. Treplin on the conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the stolen articles, or in proportion to the amount recovered. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Jervis, Warwickshire Constabulary, Kenilworth.— Bow- st., July 9. Between 10 a. m. on the 3rd and 5 a. m. on the 4th instant, the farm servant men's bed- room, at Strytesa Farm, Hope, Flintshire, was entered by means of sliding the bed- room window, aud stolen therefrom: one pair of men's string high laced- up Coots, white laces, newly soled, two rows of large nails round the outside, and a few new nails placed in the heels; also one pair of boys high half water- tight laced- up Boots, two rows of square- headed nails round the outside of sole, and tips on the toes ; hob- nails iu centre of sole ; nearly new. T.'; a silver fruit Knife; a butter Knife, liandlS broken ; one silver Medal, star shape, with crest of a shield, and above the shield the body of a man holding a club in right hand, with the words underneath the shield ' Tide what may'; one gold Ring, set with two stones, one of them is lost out ; ons ditto Ditto, with a little gold book that opens upon it; one ditto Ditto, set with a ruby ; one ditto Ditto, set with an emerald, garnet, aud amethyst; one gold Ring, set with a ruby and a diamond ; one gold Ring, set with four amethysts; one gold Ring, set with black and white forget- me- nots and pearls; one gold Brooch, with child's likeness ; one gold Brooch, containing child's likeness, and hair at the back ; one round gold Brooch, red stone in the centre and pearls around ; one gold Brooch, lava medallion in centre : one blue smelling Bottle and Top ; silver Vinaigrette with ' A. K.' on top ; one silver hunting Watch, ' H. M. T.' engraved on back, all three : letters entwined in one; one gold Chain, small link pattern ; one gold Locket, hair, design of the Prince of Wales' feathers in, and on the back ' In remembrance of John Kipling' ; one silver Pencil; one gold Seal, containing a yellow stone ; one gold Watch Key, in the form of a door key ; one gold Pencil- Case ; one silver Ditto ; one jet Brooch, has a gold rim on it. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALI.& O, Stolen on the 6th instant, from a stable in London- street, Dockhead : an iron grey cob Gelding, aged, 14 hands high, lame off hind leg, both knees bent forward, scar near fore foot, wall eyed near side. By two men, one 26 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, short beard, slight moustache ; dressed in light coat, pockets in sides, black trousers and vest, round soft felt hat. The other 20 years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, stout, fair complexion, no beard ; dressed in blue reefing jacket, black aud white striped tweed vest, dark tweed trousers.— Metropolitan Police, M Division, July 11. Stolen from a field at Muxton, parish of Lilleshall, on the 8th instant, the property of Mr. James Price, a brown Horse, about 7 years old, 14 to 15 hands high, in fair condition, has a white star on forehead, and supposed to have a little white ou the off hind fetlock. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Christie, Newport, Salop.— Bow- street, July 11. On the 8th May last, a person calling himself J. STUBBS, about 40 years of age, medium height, aud looked like a well- dressed boatman, obtained by means of false pretences from a veterinary surgeon iu Manchester a half- bred Bay Mare, about 6 years old, about 15 hands high, aud a little lame on near hind leg, alleging that he was borrowing it on behalf of Messrs. Veevers and Co., carriers, for about a week, but this statement has since been found to be false. £ 4 reward will be paid by the owner to such person as will give information leading to the recovery of the mare and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Chief Constable Palin, Detective Department, Cheapside, Town Hall, Manchester.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen from Banbury on the 2nd instant, a dark bay Mare, aged, half- bred rather strong made, about 14 hands high, in good condition, bang tail, and slightly broken- winded. Information to be given to Superintendent Whad- coat, Banbury, Oxon.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen on the night of the 28th ultimo, from Bray : a black cob Horse, scar on near shoulder recently dona, has several white spots ou hip, and is in good condition. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Iremonger, Berks Con- stabulary, Maidenhead.— Bow- street, July 9. Stolen on the 2nd instant, from a field in Southend- road, Lewisham : a brown carriage mare," 6 years old, 14 hands high, white star ou forehead, legs and inane black, iu good condition.— Metropolitan Police, July 7. Stolen from a field in the parish of Little Compton, in the county of Warwick, oil the 2nd instant, a new brown holland Blouse, with pockets in the i ': irt. and one button to fasten the jacket at the chest ; the property of Charles Bran- dish. Supposed by a man about (- 10 years of age, 6 feet 7 ins. high, very sallow complexion ; dressed in a shabby dark suit aud black round hat. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Thompson, Police Station, Shipton- on- Stour.— Bow- street, July 7. Further information respecting the bay Horse stolen from the parish of Amington, near Tarnworth, on the night of the 3rd ultimo, and advertised in the Police Gazette of the 6th ultimo : the horse is a half- bred one, 5 years old, 15 hands high, white star ou forehead, bang tail, and when at work carries his tongue out on the right svle of mouth. WaB seen in the possession of a short man, shabbily dressed, looked like a drover, and walked with a shuffling gait; was leading the horse by a halter ; horse had on an old harness collar. Was at Bodymoor Heath at 2 a. m. on the 4th instant, aud along the canal side to Tyburn House, near Birmingham, and then took the old Chester road. A reward of £ 15 will be paid on the apprehension aud conviction of the offender or ofl'eue s. Absconded on the 4th instant, from High- street, Shore- ditch, charged with stealing £ 2 10s., the Moneys of his master : a youth, 18 years of age, 5 feet 0 inches high, dark complexion; dressed in dark clothes and black wide- awake hat.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, July 11. Absconded on the 5th instant, from 148, City- road, charged with stealing £ 7 10ys., the Moneys of his master : a man, 30 years of age, 5 feet o inches high, dark complexion ; dressed in black suit, and black cloth cap.— Metropolitan Police, G Division, July 11. Stolen from Brighton, on the 8th instant: a gold Watch, gold face with flowers on it, ' D. B.' engraved on shield at the back ; a gold albert Chain, with thick links, and having two appendages. By a man between 40 and 50 years of age, rather stout; diessed in a light suit, aud white straw hat. Information to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton. - Bow- street, July 11. Description of STEPHEN HOLLAND aud SUSAN. DALE, charged on a warrant with stealing £ 4i> iu Gold ; a silver Watch and Guard ; divers articles of Wearing Apparel; and other Articles, on the 21st ultimo : the man is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, light hair, cut short, no whiskers or beard, stout build ; dressed in a butcher's blue coat or a drab loose coat, dark trotisers, aud high crown billycock hat; a butcher by trade ; the woman is about 32 years of a£ e, 5 feet o inches high, dark complexion, dark hair and eves, pockpitted ; dres6ed in black silk dress, black velvet tuuic, black silk jacket, hat trimmed with flowers ; had with her a little girl about 3 years of age, dressed in a shot silk light dress, white jacket dud straw hat ; took with them three Boxes— oue black with iron handles at each ebd, one bi'own grained, bound at each corner with iron plates, aud a small black one, dark tea colour, bound with rope. Absconded on the night of the 1st instant, from t! e Castle Hotel, Presteign, Radnorshire, a servant, charged with stealing the following articles, the property of her employers: a lady's night Dress, quite new, London make, trimmed with lace up the front; a pair of lady's Drawers, quite new, London make, trimmed with lace ; and four cambric pocket Handkerchiefs, marked ' L. Thomas :' she is about 26 years of age, 5 feet I or 2 inches high, fresh coin plexion. light hair, thin sharp features ; dressed in a light cottou dress, black cloth jacket, and black velvet hat, with a blue flower in front, a native of Clun, Salop ; supposed to be gone away with a navvy, a tip drive', a native of Bristol, about 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, ruddy com- plexion, and stout made ; he is supposed to be now working in or near Bristol, on some new line of railway. Information to be giveu at the Chief Constable's Office, Presteigu, Radnor- shire.— Bow- street, July 11. Absconded from Hastings ou the night of the 3rd iust., charged with stealiug a grey mixture tweed Coat, with pockets on the hips, black bone buttons with white spots, the property of Richard Sardine: WILLIAM MILLS alias FOX, a native of ramsgate, 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, well made, veiy dark swarthy complexion, clean shaved ; dressed in an old black coat, old dark vest aud trousers, and low crowned black felt hat. He was discharged from the 18th Regiment of Foot a few mouths since, after being puuished for desertion, aud is branded with the letter ' D.' Description of RICHARD CAUSIER, late collector for Mr. James, timber merchant, Bagot- street, Birmingham, who is charged with embezzling various sums of money which he had received for aud on account of his master : he is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 iuches high, dark whiskers and moustache, turning grey, stout make ; respectably dressed. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Police Office, Birmingham, Warwick, who holds the warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 9. Description of a travelling potter, charged at Brampton with larceny : 55 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexiou, short black hair turning grey, stout build; dressed iu moleskin- sleeved vest, cord trousers, and black billycock hat: he travels about with a pony and cart collect- ing rags, old iron, & c., and is well known in the northern counties. Abscouded on the 4th instant, from the Craven Arms public- house, 38, Marshall- street, St. James', cha » ged with stealing about £ 40 iu Gold and Silver, the monies of his master: JOSEPH CLENEY, the potman, 19 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, and dark curly hair, thin ; dressed in dark trousers aud vest, black billycock hat, no coat; likely to go to Liverpool.— Metropolitan Police, C Division, July 9. Stolen at Nottingham : a gold Geneva Watch, No. 3488 ; a ditto, imperfectly stamped, 35 0 ; a ditto, enamelled back, with portrait of lady, iu light drab watch case, Sandley, 49666 ; a gold Geneva Watch, 1539; two silver lever Watches, 1008 aud 13331 ; a silver Geneva lever Watch, silver dial, 35565 ; a gold Geneva lever Watch, white enamel dial, 230 ; a gold Geneva Watch, Girod, 3365; a gold Geneva Hunter, 37553; a gold curb Guard, several ladies' gold Guards, a silver drop Albert, and a quantity of watch- makers'Tools, & c. By ROBERT BERHARD, who absconded on the 30th ultimo : he is a native of Saxony, Germany, a watchmaker and telegraphist, speaks English very imperfectly, 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, light blue or grey eyes, brown hair turning grey, nearly bald on top of head, no beard or whiskers, dark moustache, walks sharp, stands erect, and is well set up; dressed iu black cloth coat and waistcoat, dark striped trousers, and spring- side sprigged boots with buttons down front; has been nine years in the German army, and served in the French war. £ 2 reward will be paid on his apprehension and recovery of the property. Information to be given to Chief Constable Payntz, Notts, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 7. Absconded from Ringwood, Hants, about the 15th of April last, charged with stealing 1 cwt. of Lead ( recovered) : CHARLES WARNE, 28 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, dark curly hair, and dark whiskers ; dressed in cord trousers, dark coat and vest, and dark round hat, is a labourer, and may be found working on railways. Information to be given to Superintendent White, Hants Constabulary, Ringwood, who holds a warrant for his appre- hension.— Bow- street, July 7. .,. Absconded from Cambridge, charged on warrants with embezzlement: ROBERT LAIDLAW, 40 or 45 years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark hair and complexion, long thick dark whiskers, thin face, and slightly built ; dressed when last seen in a dark fashionable suit and low fet hat; has a respectable appearance, is a native of Dumfries, and has followed the business of a packman on the tally system for years, but of late has been a coal agent; has friends at Falmouth. Information to be given to Head Constable Turral, Borough Police Office, Cambridge, who holds the warrants for his apprehension.— Bow- street, July 7. Stolen between 4 and 6 a. m. on the 2nd instant, the property of Richard Savage, Sandsend : a silver lever Watch, No. 45281, nearly new, had a silver Guard attached, and two Keys, one of which is gold ; also a Purse containing 10s. By a man about 34 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, dark com- plexion, black hair, whiskers, and moustache, slender build, lame of left leg, has a wound on side of calf, and has been a soldier; dressed in old dirty grey cloth coat aud trousers, large patches of different material on both knees, dark woollen shirt, old lace- up boots, worn out at toes, and old greasy cap ; is an Irish labourer, has been employed on the new line of railway near Whitby, and has been previously employed in ironworks at Middlesborough and Stockton. Information to be given to Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby.— How- street, July 7. Description of two men charged at Birkenhead with stealing two Coats, on the 1st instant, one a pilot cloth over- coat, turned brown, two pockets outside, without flaps, one inside left breast, the collar is of new blue cloth, has only one button on, that is a bone one at breast, lining torn in the skirt; the other a blue pilot overcoat, small size, for a youth 14 or 15 years of age, has two pockets outside with flaps, very little worn: J. SHANLEY, 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on centre of forehead, a labourer, and a native of Halifax, Yorkshire. J. ROPER, 19 years of age, 5 feet 5j inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes, tattooed left forearm, a wire galvanizer, and a native of Belper, Derby. Both men deserted from the 14th Regiment of Foot, at Chester, on the 1st instaut, and are supposed to be wearing the stolen property, as they left their uniforms behind thenr; mav be gone to Sheffield as they enlisted there together in September, 1870. Information to be given to Superintendent Egerton, County Hall, Birkenhead, Cheshire.— Bow- street, July 7. Description of CHRiSTOPHER WALTER WORGER, charged on warrant with foloniously stealing six Windsor Chairs at Hailsham on the 20th ultimo : he is about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, hair aud whiskers sandy, slight moustache, aud rather slight figure ; generally dresses in a good light cloth suit and light boots ; he has for a short time kept a public- house at Hailsham, aud stated that previous to that he was a brewer's agent; talks very fast aud answers very quickly ; he is well known at Brighton and Ditchling, Sussex. Information to be given at the Chief Constable's Office, Lewes ; to Superintendent Wag- horn, Hailsham ; or at any Police Station in East Sussex.—- Bow- street, July 7. Stolen from an hotel at Wakefield, between 11- 30 p. m. on the 1st and 6 a. m. on the 2nd instant : a £ 50 Bank of England Note, eleven £ 10 ditto, three £ 5 ditto, six £ 5 country Notes, and £ 1 iu Gold. By a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, ordinary make, small dark whiskers, very red face ; dressed in a snuff- coloured or browu tweed cloth coat, broken check pattern, supposed tweed cloth trousers and vest, awl black felt billycock hat; carried a fancy walking caue, which he left behiud. £ 15 reward will be paid for the recovery of the money, or in proportion thereof, on the apprehension and conviction of the offender. Information to be given to Chief Constable Chipstead, Borough Police Office, Wakefield, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, July 7. Description of FREDERICK WEST, who is charged at Manchester, for stealing £ 80, aud a gold lever Watch and Chain : he is about 30 years of age, 6 feet high, dark com- plexiou ; dressed in dark striped trousers and vest, black coat, black poll hat, green and black necktie, cavalry boots with holes for spurs at the heels, and has served in the 4th Dragoon Guards. Information to be given to Chief Constable Palin, Town Hall, Mapchester.— Bow- st., July 4.
