Charged on a warrant with forging and uttering a Certificate of a Decree of Her Majesty's Court for Divorce : WILLIAM PHILLIPS, 26 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache, deep- set eyes, Hat nose ; dressed respectably ; accompanied by a woman, 24 years of age, 5 feet 2 . inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, light eyes ; dressed in black dress, blue jacket trimmed witli black braid, black hat and feather. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of the Marquis of Queens- borough at Lichfield races on the 28th ultimo : a gold Scarf Pin, with diamond in centre. Stolen from the person at a swimming match in Brighton, 0.1 the 28th ultimo, a gold keyless hunting Watch, with crest on the back— Rock and Shield, motto ' Stat Veritas.' Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable White, Brighton, Sussex.— Bow- street, September 2. Stolen from the persou of Thomas Balkham, on the 26th instant : a silver Geneva Watch, No. 47119, a double silver twisted Chain, with a blue bloodstone at the end, attached. Information to be given to Superintendent Batcher, Eye, Sussex.— Bow- street, August 28. Stolen from the person at Plymouth Paces, on the 22nd instant : a gold Geneva vertical Watch, white dial, stout heavy cases, the seconds hand lias marked the face a little, flat back, flat flint glass, ring and swivel twisted out, and ' No. 9279,' on the cases. Description of a youth, charged at Whitby, on two cases of burglary : lie is about 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, rather long and full face pug nose, no whiskers, middle finger of right hand oft'; dressed when he left Whitby, on the 29th ultimo, in a black cloth coat, grey mixture cloth trousers, and vest of same material, black billycock hat, elastic- side boots, rather too large for him, blue flannel shirt, blue necktie, and jet breast pin. with flowered glass centre; he is a native of West Hartlepool, and has been employed at the iron ship building yards, at Middlesborough, Old Stockton, and West Hartlepool; was liberated from the North Eastern Reformatory, at Mor- peth, about 2 years ago ; has a relative residing at Renfrew, Scotland, and is fond of going to theatres, music halls, & c. Information to be given to Superintendent Ryder, North Riding Constabulary, Whitby, Yorkshire.— Bow- st., Sept. 6. The residence of the Rev. R. A. Taylor, of Norton Mal- reward, was broken and entered during the night of the 1st instant, and stolen therein : a spade Guinea ; a 5s. Piece ; several old gold and silver Coins from the reign of Chas. 11 ; a pair of silver Sugar Tongs : a silver S; ilt, Spoon, marked ' F. J. M. ;' a silver Tea Spoon, marked ' I. T. I.' or ' I. A. K.;' two silver oval Frames of Miniatures; a gold Pencilcase, with topaz, marked ' T.' in German text, inscription on one side, ' Presented to the Revd. R. A. Taylor, St. Ewen's Church, Bristol, Daubigne's History of the Reformation presented by the Clerk, anil a Silk Handkerchief from the School Girls of the same Church,' engraved on the other sides of the case ; a bunch of gold Seals, one ' Elizabeth' on bloodstone, rubies in the side ; a small glass Seal, crest— key and secret ; a Seal with bugle ; a note Seal; and two silver waistband Buckles. Information to be given to Superintendent Emson, Somerset Constabulary, Temple Cloud, near Bristol. — Bow- street, September 6. Stolen between the of 8 a. m. and 7' 30 p. m. on the 31st ultimo, by means of housebreaking, from a cottage at Bertley, in the parish of Lingen, Herefordshire : a dark blue Overcoat, double- breasted, with two rows of buttons; a single- breasted dark cloth Coat, pockets outside, sloped very much at the corners of skirts ; a plaid Waistcoat, rather of a blue cast; and an old- fashioned German silver cased Watch, with steel Chain attached, about 8 or 9 inches long, 2 watch keys, and an old coin about the size of a farthing, attached to the chain. Supposed by two men who enquired the way for Bishop's Castle, one is tall, very thin, and pale looking ; wore a blue pilot coat, and cap : the other a short man ; dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Superintendent Dykes, County Police Station, Leominster, or to Sergeant Bound, Police Station, Wigmore, Herefordshire.— Bvo- street, September 6. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Eccles, by means of housebreaking, between 3' 30 p. m. and 6 p. m. on the 2nd inst: a gold English- made Watch, gold dial, flowers engraved on back, and a small plain circle- centre for initial; a lady's long fancy gold Chain ; a gold Brooch, set with turquoise and diamond centre ; a pair of gold Ear- rings to match ; a gold Ring, set with five diamonds ; a gold Ring, set with pearls and diamond centre; a fine gold Necklet, with Locket attached, the latter has a fern leaf engraved on back, and has the likeness of a gentleman inside; a gold neck ribbon Brooch, set with cryssalite stone in centre ; a £ 5 Bank of England Note; a Half- Sovereign in Gold; and a few Shillings in Silver. Entrance effected by skeleton keys. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered, on application to Superintendent Bent, Old Trafford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 4. Stolen between 8 a. m. and 6 p. m. on the 28th ultimo, from a cottage in the township of Newton- upon- Ouse, by means of housebreaking : a light brown cloth Overcoat, single- breasted, lined with black mohair, a small hole burnt in left sleeve near the cuff; a black c oth Coat, two pockets outside laps ; a Vest of same material ; a brown mixture cloth shooting Coat, two pockets outside, speckled with small yellow pimples; a Vest of same material; a woollen cord Jacket, with fustian back and sleeves, quite new; a pair of grey cloth Trousers with black stripes ; a pair of dark plaid Trousers ; two pairs of cotton coid Trousers ; two Vests, one grey ribbed cloth, the other light grey with red and yellow stripes ; a woollen plaid Shirt, with magenta stripes; two unbleached calico Shirts, new; four Neckerchiefs, one black, and three coloured ; a pair of lace- up Boots, light make, with eyelets and toecaps ; two pairs of brown worsted Stockings ; a pair of white wool ditto; a black cloth Cap; a brown leather Purse, with clasp, no lining; and 5s. in Silver. Supposed by a man who was traced over Aldwark Bridge into the West Riding : about 26 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, red hair, ginger whiskers, and fresh com- plexion ; supposed dressed in stolen clothes, black coat, cap, and boots, and carried a bundle in a white shirt. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunter, North Riding Consta- bulary, Heworth, or to Acting Inspector Ellerby, Easingwold, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, September 2. Found at King's Heath, on the 30th ultimo, and supposed to have been stolen : an aged dark brown hors- Pony, 11 hands high, several saddle marks npon back and long white streak across the ribs on off side, long plain head, thick inane, and switch tail. Information to be given at the Police Station, King's Heath, near Birmingham.— Bow- street, Sep- tember 6. Stolen from an orchard, in the parish of Horsemonden, between the 24th and 25th ultimo: a dark she Donkey, 8 years old, blind of right eye, which looks white, turns off hind leg out, and is in good condition. Information to be given to Superintendent Morgan, Cranbrook, Kent.— bow- st., September 4. Stolen on the 24th ultimo, from a field in Honey- lane, Waltham Abbey : a red roan horse Pony, 13i hands high, black mane and tail, white star on forehead, ' J. B.' branded on both front hoofs, and ' J.' clipped on near hip, in good condition. £ 5 reward.— Metropolitan Police, N Division, September 4. Stolen on the night of the 18th ultimo, from a field in the parish of Stapleford, Essex : a light bay Mare, 4 years old, 15i hands high, long mane, switch tail, a little white round the off hind hoof, scar on near fore hoof, and a blemish on off eye. £ 10 reward will be given on the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Inspector Gilpin, Romford, Essex.— Bow- strett, September 2. Stolen from a field in Tetlow Fold, Higher Broughton, Salford, on the night of the 25th ultimo : a bro « n cob Horse, 14 hands high, black legs, and in good condition. £ 3 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the horse. Information to b; given to Chief Constable Torrens, Town Hall, Salford, Lancashire.— Bow- street, September 2. Stolen from a meadow near Woburn, Beds, during the night of the 24th instant: an Oxfordshire Down Ewe, in good condition, not marked. Information to be given to Superintendent Shepherd, Woburn, Beds.— Bow- st., Aug. 30. Stolen from Warminster, about the 2lst instant: six cart Colts, four 2 years old, and two yearlings— three grey, two brown, and one chestnut colour. Information to be given to Superintendent Abbott, Warminster . Wilts.— Bow- street, August 30. Stolen from a field at Bilston, on the 22nd instant: a black horse Pony, 13£ hands high, black legs, few white saddle marks on back, right eye out, aged, and in good con- dition, the property of John Burton. Information to be given to Superintendent McCrea, Police Station, Bilston, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, August 28. Description of MOSES BRADDOCK, a gipsy and razor grinder, charged with stealing a Donkey from Build- was, on the 22nd ultimo, the property of Jane Wood : about 25 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, dark complexion, dark brown hair, and whiskers shaved off chin ; dressed in black billycock hat, grey jacket, and cotton cord trousers ; he holds a pedlar's certificate granted at Oswestry. He is accompanied by another man, about 19 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, and no whiskers; dressed in a cap without peak, cord waistcoat, with sleeves and four rows of white bone buttons on breast, and cord or moleskin trousers. Information to be given to i Deputy Chief Constable Richardson, Wellington, or to Sergeant Wyley, Madeley, Salop, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 28. During the night of the 27th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. George Foxen, near Toddington, Beds, was broken and entered, and stolen therein: a meerschaum Pipe, the stem has been broken, and has a German silver band ; two Razors, one has a black handle, and is marked on the same ' Celebrated Razor,' the other has tortoiseshell handle ; 3d. in Coppers ; and eleven Postage Stamps. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Superintendent Shepherd, Woburn, or to Sergeant Quenby, Toddington, Beds.— Bow- street, August 30. Stolen between 8 a. m. and 7* 30 p. m. on the 21st instant, from a cottage at the parish of Chalfont- St.- Peter, by means of housebreaking : a dark grey witney Overcoat, with velvet collar ( since recovered) ; and a pair of men's old balmoral Boots, tipped at toe and heel, one of the tips off By a man, about 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark com- plexion, dark brown hair, no whiskers or moustache, and slender figure ; dressed in old dark mixture coat and trousers, cloth cap, with French peak, and is supposed to be wearing the stolen boots. He was traced from Chalfont to Uxbridge, Southall, and London, and was last seen in the New Meat Market, Smithfield, about 7 a. m. on the 22nd instant. In- formation to be given to Inspector Ray, Police Station, Beaconsfield, Bucks.— Bow- street, August 28. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen from Brynn Down Farm, in the parish of Roche, Cornwall, on the 23rd ultimo, the property of Richard Slee- man : a sorrel mare Pony, aged, about 13 hands high, hollow back, star iu forehead, switch tail, fore legs rubbed by fetters, and is in low condition. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Marshall, Cornwall Constabulary, Bodmin, Cornwall. — Bm- street, September 6, LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Description of CHARLES ASHMAN, who absconded on the 29th ultimo, from a training stable at Lewes, where he was employed as stable lad, charged with stealing a Scotch tweed Jacket, and vest to match, red, green, and yellow stripe ; a black cloth Vest, and a pair of dark mixture Scotch tweed Trousers, the clothes fit a lad 5 feet 1 inch high, and have only been slightly worn : he is about 18 years of age, 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, fair complexion, round face, and rather large nose, light brown hair, and proportionate figure ; dressed iu light tweed jacket and vest, light plaid trousers, and light round soft billy- cock hat, or he may be wearing the stolen clothing ; he has served 5 years apprenticeship at the training stables, at Lewes, and will probably seek similar employment. Information to be given to Superintendent Peacock, Lewes, who holds a warrant for his apprehension. — Bow- street, September 6. Absconded from Hove on the 1st instant, charged with larceny : WM. SHULIER, a sweep, 32 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, rather stout, light hair, fresh complexion, and bliud of the left eye; he will probably go hop picking. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Breach, Town Hall, Hove, near Brighton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 6. Description of a man and woman who absconded from Great Yarmouth, on the 26th ultimo, charged with stealing a Bag, containing £ 290 iu Gold, the monies of Esther Turrell : The man is 29 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, blue eyes, light hair ( curly and parted down the centre), small light moustache and whiskers, thiu make, and very small features ; dressed in dark mixed cloth coat, tweed waistcoat and trousers, and black deerstalker hat. 6 P O L I C E G A Z E T T E. The woman is about £ 1 years of - age, 5 feet 2 inches high, Dale complexion, and rather good • looking; dressed it brown jacket, trimmed with white fur, plain blue aftk dress, white Dolly Varden hat, with blue feather, and wears black ear- drops. It ia believed they intend to emigrate. £- 20 reward will be paid to any person giving such information a- e will lead to their apprehension and recovery of the money, or in pro- portion thereto. Information to be given to Head Constable Tewsley, Police Station, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.— Bow- street, September 6. Description of a man who has absconded, charged with stealing from a lodging- house in Great Grimsby on the 2nd instant : a black cloth Coat, partly worn, pockets at the sides, and silk facings on the collar ; ami a pair of elastic- side Boots ( recovered); is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, small black tuft on eud of chiu, and dark eyes ; dressed iu corduroy trousers, straight iu the legs, light blue guernsey, monkey jacket, cloth cap with piece round it for the purpose of turning down, and lace- up boots. A woman of t| ie follow- ing description, who passes as his wife, is travelling with him: about 30years of age, very fresh coloured, sandy hair, and has a girl with her about 11 months old. They are supposed to be making their way into Kent for the purpose of hop gather- ing. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Campbell, Town Hall, Great Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, September 6. Description of a man who is charged on a warrant with stealing two cloth Costs, one of which he pawned at Chiches- ter on the 2ud instant; he also had in his possession two pair of men's grey cottou Hose; three white cotton Pocket- handkerchiefs, coloured borders ; a flannel Shirt ; a black felt Hat; and two yards of Calico, all new : HENRY COWARD, a jobbing shoemaker, 44 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, rather long, bald on top of head, black moustache, no whiskers, a small lump on left side of neck ; dressed when last seen in a dark blue cloth coat and black cloth trousers ; he is supposed to be travelling through Hampshire. Information to be given to Head Con- stable Smith, Town Hall, Arundel, Sussex.— Bow- street, Sep- tember 6. Description of JOHN HETH JONES, for whose apprehension a warrant has beeu granted for embezzlement : 23 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, dark hair out short and parted in the centre, sallow complexion, broad chest and shoulders; dresses usually in a short blue frock coat worn opeu, double- breasted vest, dark scarf, sometimes wears a silk hat and sometimes a felt wideawake; is a native of Ad wy, near Wrexham, a grocer, and recently a grocer's traveller iu the neighbourhood of Chester; served his apprenticeship at Mold or Wrexham. £ 5 reward will be paid by bis late employer for such information as shall lead to his npprebeu, sion. Information to be given to the Chief Constable Fenwick Town Hall, Chester.— Bow- street, September 6. Stolen between 9 p. m. 1st anil 7 a. m. on the 2nd instant from a lodging house at Sheriff Hutton : a grey cloth Coat, nearly new, small pockets outside, and oue inside left breast, small 2- holed bone buttons. By a lodger, 43 years of age, 5 ft. 10 or 11 inches high, dark complexion, long dark tjrowu hair, slender figure, and nose sunken between the eyes ; dressed in black coat and waistcoat, grey trousers, mended at knees, high billycock hat, blue and white striped shirt, old lace- up boots, and grey socks ; a tramping Irishman. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunter, North Riding Con- stabulary, Heworth.— Bow- street, September 4. Charged with embezzlement of £ 70, belonging to the North British Railway Company: JAMES DOUGLAS JOHNSTONE, clerk, 24 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, sallow complexion, slight moustache, otherwise clean shaved, native of Annan, Dumfriesshire ; he walks very erect; dressed in a grey cloth shooting coat, or black surtout coat, a pair of shepherd plaid or grey trousers, and black felt bat. He is accompanied by a young man 19 years of age, and absconded on the 26th ultimo, and may try to go abroad. £ 10 reward is offered for his apprhensiou. Information to be given to Chief Constable MCall, Glasgow. — Bow- street. September 2. Absconded, charged with stealing two Coats, one black cloth, the other grey tweed ; and a grey Vest: FREDERICK WEBB, a printer, about 19 years of age, 5 feet 0 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, no whiskers, and very good- looking ; dressed in a black frock coat witb velvet collar, light cloth trousers with black stripes down tide, white hollaud hat, brown and white check shirt, and elastic- side boots. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sittingbourne, Kent.— Bow- street, September 2. Stolen from New Brighton on the 24th ultimo : a silver patent lever Watch, maker— Hardman, Liverpool; two small holes are worn through the outer case, with silk Guard and common Key attached. By WILLIAM DALBY, of Colts- hill, near Birmingham, 27 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark hair, no whiskers or moustache, round featured, and long nose ; dressed in snuff- coloured tweed coat, light trousers with black stripe, french peak cloth cap, and lace- up boots. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Egerton, Birkenhead, or to Inspector Saxton, Sessions House, Egremont, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, September 2. Absconded from Colchester on the 22nd ultimo, taking with them eight pairs of Shoes, the property of Mr. Copsey, Short Wyre- street, Colchester, boot and shoemaker, their master : two shoemakers— one, EDWARD YOUNGS, about 33 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, slight build, sharp looking, sandy hair and whiskers, pockpitted ; dressed iu a long frock coat, black trousers, round hat or cheesecutter cap; and JAMES MARROSS, about 34 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, rather stout build, hair and whiskers in- clined to be sandy ; dressed in a monkey jacket, dark trousers, and round hat ; they are both natives of Norwich- Infor- mation to be given to Head Constable Downes, Colchester, Essex, who holds warrants for their apprehension.— Bow- si., September 2. Absconded on the 23rd ultimo, charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 500, the moneys of the United Tradesmen's Building Society: FREDERICK WILLIAM BREESE, recently warrant officer at the Clerkenwell County Court, 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slight build, fair com- plexion, light hair, small moustache, lias a habit of biting his nails, which are extremely short ; dressed in light tweed suit, tight fitting trousers, high black hat. £ 20 reward.— — Metropolitan Police, G Division, September 2. respectably, walks very badly, and turns his feet out; it is supposed that he is accompanied by a respectable- looking woman, about 28 years of age, tall, and fresh complexion. A reward of £ 50 is now offered for his apprehension. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Police Otlioe, Birmingham, who holds 2. warrant for his apprehension. — Bcw- streit, September 2. Absconded, charged with stealing a Geneva Watch : THOMAS VINCENT, about 29 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light curly hair, no whiskers, but has a mous- tache, rather full face ; dressed in a brown cloth coat and vest, faded, fustian trousers, dark felt hat, Wellington boots, torn at the spring outside, he is a watch jobber, and has some new tools with him. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Prothero, Carnarvon, who holds a warrant ( oc his apprehension.— Bow- street, August 30. Absconded from Middlesbrough, charged with stealing a Coat, which he pledged at North Ormesby, about 1 p. m. on the 27th instant; a man, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, sallow complexion, small dark whiskers ; dressed in a billycock hat, dark cloth coat, and supposed dirty mole- skin trousers. Information to be given to Chief Constable Saggerson, Middlesbrough, York.— Bow- street, August 30. Stolen from a Temperance Hotel, in Crewe, between 9 and 10 a. m. on the 29th instant: a square paisley Shawl, by a man about 50 years of age, dark complexion, whiskers turning grey, stout built, whiskers shaved off half way up the face, hallow cheeks, and has the appearance of a tailor; dressed in dark clothes, and high hat. Information to be given to Superintendent Laxton, Nantwich, or to Inspector Morris, Police Office, Crewe, Cheshire.— Bow- street, August 30. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Description of ENOS BOUCHER, a waterman, of Pridings, iu the parish of Arlingham, who was on bail charged with rape, and who failed to surrender to take his trial at the last Gloucester Assizes on the 15th ultimo, and against whom a bench warrant has beeu granted : he is about 28 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, rather long features, dark swarthy complexion, dark brown hair and whiskers, one of his upper front teeth broken off; dressed in a long frock coat with blue guernsey underneath, brown trousers, and soft billycock hat; he is supposed to have made his way to Liverpool or some other seaport, when he will try to get a berth on board some vessel, and work his passage to America. Absconded, charged with committing a rape on the 22nd instant, at Stockton: JAMES O'NELL, an Irishman, late of Stockton, a labourer employed at the North Yorkshire Iron Works at South Stockton, from 40 to 45 year's of age, at out 5 feet 2 inches high, stout and strongly built, large head and face, pug nose, stiff bristly dark brown hair, whiskers of about a week or fortnight's growth, sallow complexion, swarthy skin, coarse features, large mouth, good teeth, thick short ueck, and double chin ; he baa worked at Hartlepool, Middlesborough, and several other towns in the north of England, and also in Scotland.
