Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to MB. C. %* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Iietters addressed to the Editor must be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Found in a lane at Marie Hill, in the parish of l'rest- bury, on the 4th instant : the dead body of a newly- born male Child, wrapped in a piece of brown paper, with a piece of white tape tied round its neck. At an inquest held on the 11th instant, a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be < riven to Superintendent Day, Police Office, Cheltenham.— ^ Bow- street, June 14. Found on the lst instant, in night soil which had been removed from rochdale to Thornham during the previous night, the dead body of a newly- born female Child, wrapped in an old chemise. At an inquest held on the 4tli iustant a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' was returned against some person or persons unknown. Information to be given to Chief Constable Stevens, Town Hall, Bochdale.— Bow- st., June 10. FORGERY. Description of CHABLES T. DORRETT, clerk, late of 23 Napier- street, New Cross, wanted for forgery : 28 to 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slender build, long thin pale face, fair hair and moustache, no whiskers, walks quickly, with an appearance of stiffness in the legs, of respectable appearance, and is fond of playing at billiards ; dressed in light trousers, dark overcoat, and black hat. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, Old Jewry, E. C.— Bow- street, June 7. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the 4th instant, at the parish of Eton : a gold patent lever Watch, makers Heale and Company, Manchester, No. 270. £ 5 reward will be paid on recovery of the Watch aud conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Dunham, Police Court, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from the person of a gentleman in Northampton, on the 4th instant : four .£ 10 Bank of England Notes, Nos. 63590 to C3593 inclusive ; and two £ 5 ditto, Nos. 27523 and 27524. Two women are committed to take their trial at the ensuing sessions for the borough of Northampton for the robbery, but the notes have not been recovered. Information to be given to Chief Constable Keenan, Northampton.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen from the person on Harpenden Race Course, on the 5th instant : a silver lever Watch, single case, No. 426, maker Williss, Clerkeuwell Green. Information to be given to Inspector Chapman, Herts Constabulary, Hatfield.— Bow- street, June 12. Stolen on the 6th inst., from the person of a gentleman in the city of ripon : a silver lever Watch, cases much worn, white dial, a piece broken off the figure ' 12,' and capped, had attached a gold Albert Guard, curb pattern, with a gold bar at one end to fasten through the button- hole of waistcoat. £ 1 rewaid will be paid on recovery of the property and apprehension of the offender. Information to be given to Superintendent Burniston, City Police Office, ripon, York shire.— Botc- street, June 10. Stolen from the person on the 3rd instant, a silver lever hunting Watch, with brass pointers ; a gold albert Guard, 15 inches long attached ; a gold Key, with three stones, green, white, and dark. Information to be given to Superintendent Prest, North Riding Constabulary, Guisborough, Yorkshire. — Bow- street, June 1. Stolen from the person in Oldham, on the 4th instant: a silver lever Watch, maker Hemmingway, Manchester, No. 1300 ; three ditto, one with gold dial, Nos. 33208, 28159, and 1210 ; one ditto, maker J. H. Hayes, Oldham, No. 27058; one ditto, silver dial, with gold figures, No. 70230 ; a Boston lever Watch, No. 25508 ; two silver Geneva Watches, one small size, Nos. 40921 and 6234 ; a ditto, cream- coloured dial, No. 15522 ; a ditto, with a dent on the edge of inner case; a silver verge Watch ; and a silver hunting Watch, American make. Information to be given to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Oldham, Lancashire.— Bow- street, June 7. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During'the night of the 8th instant, or the following morning, the shop of William Hewett, draper, High- street, Maidenhead, was broken and entered, and the following articles stolen therein : black Calf Gloves, coloured ditto, Fronts with Collars, black stiff Felt Hat, patent leather spring- side Boots, four white Shirts, one coloured ditto, a pair of Braces, and some Collars, all marked with a cross ; a black cloth Coat, double- breasted ; a grey cloth Coat; three Waist- coats ; two pairs of fancy Trousers ; Silk Scarves ; five pairs of woollen cord Trousers ; a felt Hat; and a white mackin- tosh Coat. Information to be given to Superintendent MacGraw, Borough Police, Maidenhead.— Bow- st., June 12. Between 10 p. m. 4th and 5 a. m. on the 5th instant, the dwelling- house of Mr. Holloway, of Bampton, Oxon, was broken and entered, and stolen therein : about £ 1 in Silver and Copper; a silver Medal; a chamois leather Bag, con- taining a spade Guinea, a 5- franc Piece, a crooked Half- sovereign, two Spanish Dollars, a numher of crooked Six- pences, and other Coins, of various value ; a Is. 6d. silver Token, of the reign of George III; and a silver Bank of England Token, value 5s. Information to be given to Superintendent Pope, Police Station, Witney, Oxon.— Bow- street, June 7. Between 9' 30 a. m. and 7 p. m. on the 5th instant, the dwelling- house of EDWARD JONES, at Pentreclawdd, near Oswestry, was broken into and stolen therein : a large old fashioned silver verge Watch, No. 3226, the pendent has been broken and repaired, white dial, large black figures, small dent on back of outside case, a ticket inside the case— Lashmore, watchmaker, Oswestry, a black silk Guard and round steel Chain with two common Keys and a Seal attached ; a black cloth Vest, single- breasted, watch pocket in left side, black cloth buttons, yellow lining with black back, much worn; and £ 3 17s. in Gold and Silver. Information to be given to Superintendent Gallaway, Aston, Birmingham.— Bow- street, June 10. Stolen during the night of the 2nd instant, from the highway in the parish of Wyrardisbury, the property of Gordon Gyll, Esq. : a large light coloured mare Donkey, seedy feet, and a cut on the top of rump, caused by a blow from a spade, and is in good condition. Information to be given to Sergeant Chilton, Colnbrook, or to Superintendent Dunham, Police Station, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- street, June 10. Stolen during the night of the 2nd instant, from a field at Birkby, the property of Joseph Donald, farmer, Birkby, near Maryport: a grey Mare, 5 years old, about 15 hands high, white mane and tail, the face of a lighter colour than the body, and has a lump on the near shoulder. Information to be given to Superintendent Spencer, Cockermouth, or at the County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle. - Bow- it., June 7. Stolen from a field in the parish of St. Mary Magdalen, Hastings, between the 31st ultimo and the 3rd instant: a Southdown Sheep, marked ' P.' Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glenister, Hastings, or at the Police Office, St. Leonards- on- Sea.— Bow- street, June 7. HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the night of the 4th or morning of the 5th instant, from a field at Erdington Hall, near Birmingham : a dark brown Mare, from 15 to 16 hands high, blind with the near eye, and a little lump on the off shoulder. Any person giving such information that will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders shall receive £ 5 reward. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Birmingham.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen during the night of the 10th instant, a brown Gelding, about 15 hands high, of the nag breed, a white star on forehead, and a star on the off hind leg, caused by a kick : also a black Welsh Pony, very fast, and little white on one hind fetlock. Information to be given to Superintendent Dance, Police Court, Tonbridge, Kent.— Bow- street, June 14. Stolen on the night of the 6th instant, from a Meadow at Downham : a black Mare, about 15 hands high, aged, white star on forehead, blind with the off eye, and has a deep scar in the off shoulder, having been wounded in a collision with the end of a shaft, long mane and tail, and in good condition. Information to be given to Inspector Hawtree, Rochford, or to Sergeant Aylett, Billericay, Essex. — Bow- street, June 12. Stolen on the 6th instant,' from a stable in a brickfield at Water lane, Edmonton : a roan Mare, aged, 14 hands high, fore feet turn outwards ; was seen at Colney Hatch, going in the direction of Finchley in a gipsy cart, teak built, ' William Stanley, Exeter", on the side, accompanied by a man 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers ; dressed in dark moleskin overcoat, woollen cord trousers, fitting tightly, wideawake hat, smart appear- ance, and stated that he intended going to Ascot.— Metropo- litan Police, Y Division— June 12. Stolen from a field at Earlsdon, near Coventry, on the night of the 2nd instant: a dun- coloured nag Horse, stands about 14 hands high, ears tipped with black, and a black mark down the back and tail. Information to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Jervis, Kenilworth, Warwickshire.— Bow- st., June 10. Stolen from a field at Bromford, near Birmingham, during the night of the 4th instant: a brown Mare, about 15 hands high, very long mane and tail, white mark on fore- head, blind near eye, clicks with near feet when troting, and is in very good condition ; the property of Henry Dunkley, LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Stolen at New Ferry, on the 9th instant : a gold chronometer repeating lever Watch, gold dial, steel hands, engine- turned case, a little worn, makers Litheiland, Davies, and Company, Liverpool, No. 1668, had attached a gold albert Guard, small strong links, cable pattern; a gold American Dollar; a gold chased Locket, form of a heart ; a gold Seal, with light yellow stone, engraved a coronet and dragon. Supposed by JAMES WHITEHEAD, a labourer, about 30 years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh com- plexiort red hair, cut short, sandy moustache and imperial, roupxl shouldered, and has been several years in the Army ; drSsSed in a ribbed blue cloth shooting coat, dark plaid vest and trousers, with green stripe, and black soft felt hat; was formerly employed at the lead works, Chester. £ 5 reward will be paid to any person who will give such information as will lead to his conviction and recovery of the property, or in proportion thereto, on application to Superintendent Eger- ton, County Police Office, Abbey- street, Birkenhead, Cheshire. — Bow- street, June 14. Absconded from Banbury, on the 8th instant, a man who gave the name of JOHN SMITH, charged with stealing a Coat and Waistcoat, since recovered : he is a tramping tailor, about 5 feet 1 or 2 inches high, slight make, and red nose, from drinking ; dressed in dark clothes, high hat ; he lodges at low beer- houses, and calls himself the ' LITTLE WONDER.' Information to be given to Superintendent Whadcoat, County Police Station, Banbury, Oxon. who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of WILLIAM GEORGE ROBINSON, a commercial traveller, charged with embezzling several sums of Money : about 36 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, slightly marked with the small- pox, dark brown hair, slightly bald, full face, long sandy whiskers and moustache, full mouth, is a very quick talker, forward in conversation, and a good comic singer ; he has been a traveller for the last ten years in the hardware trade, in the counties of Lancaster, Nottingham, Salop, Stafford, and Cheshire. Among the monies received by him were a £ 20 Bank of England Note, issued at Manchester, January 7th, 1871, No. W | 14 84906, and a ^ 10 ditto, issued at" Manchester, January 31st, 1871, No. U | 25 80119, payment of which has been stopped. Information to be given to Chief Constable Segrave, Town Hall, Wolverhampton, who holds a warrant for his apprehension, and by whom £ b reward will be paid for the same.— Bvo- street, June 14. Absconded on the 29 th ultimo, from No. 23, Rose- street, Long Acre, stealing £' i 0s. 5d., the money of his master: by a man 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, light brown hair, grey eyes ; dressed in light dirty suit, and black billycock hat. Supposed to be in the vicinity of Union- street, Borough.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, June 12. Stolen during the night of the 9th instant, from the dwelling- house of Mrs. Hufton, New Clee : 8 woollen Shirts— one violet colour, the others violet and yellow check. 1 grey winsey Shirt. 3 blue pilot cloth Coats, double breasted, and horn buttons. 2 pairs of pilot cloth Trousers. 2 Vests do. 3 blue Guernseys— one boy's size. 1 Scotch Cap. 1 cheesecutter Cap. 2 white Mufflers. 1 pair of elastic- side Boots. 1 scarlet and white Handkerchief. And a seaman's shifting Bag. By ' JOHN WILSON, a lodger, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark hair, parted down the ruiddk', whiskers shaved off, full face, large grey eyes, much blood- shot. Supposed to be wearing part of the stolen property, as he left his old clothes behind. Stated he was a native of Lincoln, and lately employed upon a steam- boat at Hull; had in his possession a fireman's discharge from a Hull vessel, in the name of ' John Wilson.' £ 1 reward will be paid for his apprehension. Information to be given to Inspector POLICE GAZETTE. June 14 Gregg, County Police Station, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, June 12. Absconded from Leeds, charged on a warrant with em- bezzlement • WILLIAM S. GARROW, about 28 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, light brown hair, slight light brown whiskers, no moustache, rather fresh looking, stoops when walking speaks a broard Scotch accent; dressed in dark mix- ture shooting coat, tweed trousers and vest, wears a silk hat. Has lived at° the fallowing places : 105 Lily- place, Shields- road, Glasgow; 2, Crown- terrace, and 32 Castle- street, Dundee; his wife has ' ived with him at the two first places. He is known to the following persons : Mr. Wm. Lindsey, Whole- sale Stationer, Aberdeen ; Mr. A. Best, Union- street, Aber- deen ; Mr. Charles Walker, Commission Agent, Aberdeen ; Mr. J. Cowper, 44, Bow Accord- street, Aberdeen ; Mr. George Mills. Milton Chemical Company, Glasgow ; Messrs. Harrison and Griffiths, Great Eastern- rd., Glasgow ; Mr. E. Mc. Cullum, 9, Morrison- street, Glasgow. His last telegram was sent from the Victoria Station, of the London Brighton and South Coast Railway, on the 1st instant, and his last letter was from London, S. W. on the 3rd instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Hunt, Detective Office, Town Hall, Leeds. — Bow- street, June 12. Description of JOHN JOHNSON, a watchmaker, who absconded from Ross, on the 5th ultimo, charged with stealing an English lever Watch, the property of Edward Read : he is about 30 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, fair com- plexion, bushy whiskers and moustache rather light, shaves under the chin, stoops when walking, has a quick step and a weak voice ; dressed in a dark tweed suit, billycock hat, spring side shoes, and carries a small black bag, and frequents low beer houses. He is supposed to belong to Birmingham, and was seen at Edgbaston on the 4th instant. Information to be given to Superintendent Cope, Police Station, Ross, Hereford- shire, who holds a warrant lor his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 10. Description of CHARLES SCOTT, a journeyman baker, charged with stealing, at Abergavenny, a Jacket, six Knives, 3ix Forks, a Watch, and two Rings, tiie property of William Arthur Jennings, since recovered : he is 28 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, slight make, fair complexion, light haii- and moustache ; supposed to be dressed in light clothes ; he is a native of Bedford, and is supposed to be at Twicken- ham or somewhere in the neighbourhood of London. £ 2 reward will be paid for his apprehensiou. Information to be given to Superintendent Freeman, County Constabulary, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 10. Stolen from a dwelling- house at Madeley, on the morning of the 29th ultimo, the property of Mr. John Hughes : a white calico Shirt, new ; a pair of men's grey worsted Stockings ; a pair of women's ditto ; a silk Neckerchief, red ground and white flowers, nearly new; and a blue cotton Umbrella, with dark bone handle. By a man, 21 years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fair complexion, light sandy hair, and stoutly built; dressed in white slop, black cloth vest, white moleskin trousers, very dirty, black billycock hat, red cotton neckerchief, and clogs ; he is a labourer, and will probably seek employment on some railway. He is accom- panied by a young woman, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 ins. high, dark complexion, dark brown hair and eyes, and slender build ; dressed in blue stuff dress, and black hat, with red flowers. Information to be given to Sergeant Stevenson, Madeley, Staffordshire, or to any Police Officer in the county. — Bow- street, June 7- Description of JOHN HAGAN, late a bailiff of the Birmingham County Court, who is charged with embezzling various sums of money : is 34 years of age 5 faet 7 inches high, fair short hair, fair complexion, long thick neck, has a peculiarity about the eyes, a cut across the bridge of npse, having the appearance of a pugulist; dressed in blue jjilot monkey jacket, light cord trousers, and lace- up boots ; a nativfe of Dublin. £ 2 reward will be given on his apprehension Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Glossop, Police Station, Birmingham, who holds a warrant.— Boic- street, June 7. Absconded on the 4th instant, charged on a warrant with embezzling £ 18 10s. 3d. : HARRY HANCOCK, a druggist: apprentice, of Cleethorpes- road Great Grimsby, 17 years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, rather stout, brown hair, cut short, freckled face, hands very yellow' inside from a dye ; dressed in dark coat, light trousers and vest, stiff felt hat, with round crown, a native of Sheffield, and speaks that dialect: it is supposed that he will endeavour to leave the country from some seaport. £ 2 reward will be given for his apprehensiou. Information to be given to Chief Superinten- dent Campbell, Town Hall, Grimsby, Lincolnshire.— Boiv^ st., June 7. Stolen on the 30th ultimo : a silver level' Watch, open face, jewelled in two holes, and capped, No. 0070, had a1 silver albert Chain attached. By RALPH HEFFERNAN, a native of Limerick, Ireland, a journeyman watchmaker, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, very slight whiskers and moustache ; dressed in a dark cloth suit, nearly new, and black billycock hat. Information to be given to Head Constable George, Dunstable, Beds, > vho hokh a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 7. Description of BENJAMIN FRAMPTON, late a bailiff of the Birmingham County Court, who is charged with embezzling various sums of Money : is about 50 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, bushy whiskers tuam- ing grey, generally wears a black shootiug jacket with large pockcts inside, cord trousers, and blucher boots; he is a gardender. It is supposed that he 1ms gone to Cheltenham. £ 2 reward will be paid on his apprehension. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Warwickshire.— Bow- street, June 7. about 16 years of age, rather tall, has light hair and com- plexion, slender make, brown birth- mark on the back of her neck; was wearirg either a black or plaid dress, of blue, black, and red colour, black hat trimmed with black, a black cloth jacket, or black cloth waterproof cloak, aud lace- up boots. Fanny Blanche Middleton is about 11 years of age, has long light i. air, combed p ain down the back, blue eyes, a strongly- marked dimple at the extreme end of the nose ; had on a white straw hat trimmed with black quilliug, a Rob- Roy pattern plaid woollen frock, a black cloth jacket, aud elastic- boots ; also had with her a black circular cloak, and grey winsey, and slate- coloured alpaca frocks. All her linen is marked ' M.' It is believed that the girls may be represent- ing themselves as sisters, and passing under the names of Harriet and Fanny Tomkins.— Bow- street, June 12. FRAUDS AND AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOURS. Absconded from Halesworth, on. the 4th instant, charged with obtaining a Horse and Cart by false pretences : ROBT. RIMMINGTON, a labourer, of Winhaston, 26 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, no whiskers, and round face; dressed in a blue guernsey, fall trousers, either a cap or billycock hat. He was last heard of on the 7th instant, loading a barge with bricks at Yarmouth, to go to Norwich. Information to be given to Inspector Taylor, Halesworth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, June 14. Glossop, Birmingham, MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of four men, tramps, committed to Chester Castle for seven days, hard labour, on the 13th instant : PATRICK BRENNAN, 33 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, brown hair and sallow complexion. He says he belongs to Warrington, and is a cattle driver. WILLIAM HARRISON, 23 years of age, 5 feet 3i inches high, fresh complexion, brown hail', and grey eyes. Says he belongs to Chester. HENRY KING, of Birmingham, bricksetter, 25 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fresh complexion, light brown hair, and grey eyes. THOMAS PADDOCK, 27 years of age, 5 feet 6i inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, and says he belongs to Yorkshire. ' Information to be given to Superintendent Mtiyho, Tarporley, Cheshire.— Bow- street, June 14. Description of JAMES CRAWLEY, a licence holder ( No. 1026), who has failed to comply with the provisions of the ' Prevention of Crimes Act, 1851' : he is 32 years of age, 5 feet 8i inohes high, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, pockmarked, ' D D ' faintly marked on left side, mole on right and left side of neck ; he was sentenced to 7 years' penal servitude at Chelmsford for felony, and his sentence will expire on the 17th October, 1873 ; he is to be apprehended by any constable prioi to expiration of sentence. Early on the morning of the 7th instant a servant girl named HARRIET TOMKINS, absconded from the house of her employer, Mr. Middleton, of Woodstock- road, Mosejey, taking with her his daughter, a little girl just 11 years of age! The girl, accompanied by the child, was seen' leaving Moseley at an early hour on the morning, and carrying a parcel of wearing apparel which she had stolen from her master. They took with them a quantity of clothes and about 30s. in money, the children's money- bex having been broken open, either by Tomkins, or at her instigatien.
