Notice.— It is requested that all communications for the purpose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bear the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to ME. C. *„* Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre hended, and the Name is given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the Offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the POLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mast be prepaid!, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from the Militia, as well as those from the regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Dnder Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authoritv. INFORMATIONS. tweed sac Overcoat, with pockets at the side and one inside left breast; a dark grey tweed sac Overcoat, pockets at side, and one inside left breast; also two small Workboxes. In- fomation to be given to Superintendent Sargent, High Wy- combe, or to Inspector Moore, Police Station, Chesham, Bucks. — Bow- street, May 22. During the night of the 8th instant the dwelling- house of John B. Lee, Esq., at Sonning, Berks, was burglariously entered and the following property stolen therein : two silver Table Spoons, two large silver Forks, one small Ditto, and one silver nutmeg Grater, all with crest— a town with an eagle on top ; two silver Dessert Spoons, marked ' L two gold scarf Pins, one horse shoe shape, the other set with blue stones ; a black frock Coat with velvet collar, which has been torn at the back near the loop to hang it up by, and which is also broken ; a pepper- and- salt colour morning Coat, and a leather Purse, containing a Half- Sovereign and two Half- Crowns. Information to be given to Superintendent Willmot, County Police Station, Wokingham, Berks.— Bow- street, May 13. MURDER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING. Description of two youths charged with committing a murderous assault on Seth Davy, at Bradford, on the 5th inst. : JOHN HERSON, 16 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, light brown hair, grey eyes, light complexion, long face, and blue ink mark between thumb and finger on left hand ; a dyer; and DAN CONROY, 16 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, light brown hair, fresh complexion, round face, and ' rather still' build ; a factory hand. He belongs to the 3rd West York Militia, and is supposed to be wearing a pair of boots belongiug to that regiment; dressed in black shoot- ing jacket, dark vest, cord trousers, green and blue scalp cap with peak, and hook to fasten the top to the peak. Informa- tion to be given to Chief Constable Granham, Bradford, who holds a warrant for their apprehension.— Bow- street, May 15. FORGERY. Absconded from Ely, Cambs, charged with uttering three forged Cheques for various amouuts, signed David Oldfield : a man, about 36 years of age, dark complexion and hair, slightly bald on the top of bead, very little whiskers, and 5 feet 9 inches high; respectably dressed in dark clothes. He said he was much engaged among clergymen, professed to be a poet, and is a great talker. Information to be given to Superintendent Lantsbury, Police Station, Ely, Cambs.— Bow- street, May 15. Description of CHARLES SUTTON, a commercial traveller, who has absconded from Portsmouth, charged with forgery : about 26 or 27 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fair complexion, light hair, whiskers, and moustache, and stout built ; usually dressed in dark clothes. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Barber, Portsmouth, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 15. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON. Stolen from the person at Wye races, on the 22nd instant, a gold Watch, sing e case, white dial, with railway ond Town time on it, stop movements, foreign make. Information to be given to Superintendent Noakes, Kent Constabulary, Ashford, Kent.— Bow- street, May 24. Stolen from the person at North Ormesby, near Middles- borough, on the nigUtof the lltli instant, a patent silver lever Watch, nearly new, No. 3026, engine- turned case, white dial, with ' Improved Patent' on it, has part of a common Key put through the swivel, had attached a gold plated Chain, which has been broken aud doubled, used as an albert guard. By a man about 30 years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, dark complexion, dark hair, and very little whiskers ; dressed in dark clothes aud cap. Information to be given to Super- intendent Simpson, North Riding Constabulary, South Stockton, or to Inspector Robson, Police Station, North Ormesby, near Middlesborough, Yorkshire.— Bow- st., May 15. BURGLARY AND HOUSE BREAKING. During the night of the 20th instant, the dwelling- house 0f John Priest, in the parish of Little Missenden, in the county of Bucks, was burglariously entered, and the following property stolen therein : about £ 12 in Gold and Silver; a silver double- bottomed hunting lever Watch, nearly new, No. 2C45, with small elastic Guard and gold Key attached ; a pairof dark tweed Trousers, now, with stripe down side ; a pair of light grey tweed Trousers, flap in front; a light grey HORSE AND CATTLE STEALING. Stolen on the night of the 19th instant: a Cow about 7 years old, in full milk, of the short- horn breed, nearly white, with iron knobs on end of horns, one of the horns grown a little downwards ; the property of Mr. Moesley, of the Home- house, near Bromyard. Information to be given to Superin- tendent Harwood, Bromyard,, Herefordshire.— Bow- street, May 24. Stolen on the 16th instant, from a field at Upton Hall Farm, near Macclesfield, Cheshire, a light roan - coloured Heifer, about 15 months old, the property of Samuel Ridgway, a farmer. Imformation to be given to Superintendent Williamson, County Police Office, Macclesfield, Cheshire. — Bow- street, May 24. The Horse advertised in the Police Gazette as stolen on the 17th iustant from Ippollits, near Stevenage, was found at Wandsworth Common, Surrey. A man of the following description, not in custody, is charged with stealing the said Horse : about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair com- plexion, light hair and whiskers ; dressea in stained cord trousers, dark cloth vest, white slop, dark stiff felt hat, all old and dirty. Information to be given to Inspector Reynolds, Stevenage, Herts.— Bow- street, May 24. Stolen on the 16th instant, from Birmingham, a half meated yellow and white Cow, with cocked horns, the pro- perty of Mr. Jeptha : any person giving such information that shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders shall be handsomely rewarded. Information to be given to Superintendent Bevan, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.— Bow- st., May 20. Stolen from a field at Thorpe, during the night of the 15th instant, the property of Mr. Joseph Taylor : a red roan cob Mare, 14 hands 2 inches high, rough coat, aged, been down, and rather weak in the hind fetlocks ; also on the same night, from the farm of Mr. James Cooper, Thorpe, a large spring Cart, painted green, high sides, name on shaft ' James Cooper, Thorpe,' name on cap of axle ' Gosling, Builder, Chertsey,' left step off and right wing ; also a set of silver plated Harness, nearly new, with ring off left hame. Sup- posed by two men who were seen near the premises, of the following description ; one about 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, dark complexion, whiskers shaved off, and rather thin ; dressed in dark clothes and billycock hat. The other about 5 feet 4 inches high, stout, and sandy whiskers ; dressed in dark mixture jacket, and cap, with ears. Both men can be identified. £ 5 reward will be paid on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the horse, and a further reward of £ 5 on conviction of the offender or offenders and recovery of the cart and harness. Information to be given to Superintendent Hollington, Chertsey, Surrey.— Bow- street, May 20. Stolen from a field in the borough of Rochdale, about the 10th instant, a bay mare Pony, aged, 11| hands high, in poor condition, lame in near fore leg, and short tail. Infor- mation to be given to Chief Constable Stevens, Town Hall, Rochdale, Lancashire.— Bow- street, May 17. Supposed to have been stolen on the 19th ultimo, from the road- side at Bassett, North Stoneham, a light colour grey Horse, 12£ hands high, well made, in good condition, has a wall- eye, and broken knees. A reward of £\ will be paid on the recovery of the horse and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Stan- nard, Hants Constabulary Station, Bitterne.— Bow- street, May 15. Description of a man who is charged with stealing a Horse and Cart ( recovered), from the ' George Inn,' Long- fleet, Poole, on the 2nd instant: about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, dark hair and whiskers cut short, cut on side of mouth, and has a limping walk ; dressed in an old dark coat, which he generally wears buttoned up, old black trousers, and black round hat. Supposed to have been in the army. Information to be given to Head Constable Hunt, Poole, Dorsetshire.— Bow- street, May 15. Stolen from a field at Kempsey, near Worcester, early on the morning of the 9th instant : an aged red roau mare Pony, nearly thorough bred, about 14 hands high, several white saddle marks, white star on forehead, white spot on one hind foot, one knee broken, long tail, and had lost one shoe, the property of Mr. Jones, of Pidbury, Worcester. A man of the following description was met at four o'clock same morning leading the stolen Pony on the turnpike road from Worcester to Birmingham : about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sandy hair cut short, and stoutly built; dressed in blue cloth jacket, a butchers blue slop underneath, corduroy trousers, round hard top hat, heavy nailed lace- up boots, and is a butcher's slaughterman, a native of Birmingham. Informa- tion to be given to Deputy Chief Constable Phillips, County Police Station, Worcester.— Bow- street, May 13. The Horse and Cart stolen from Olney, Bucks, on the 4th instant, has been traced to Slough, and a man giving the name of BENSON PRICE, is in custody charged with stealing the same. Also the dark brown mare Pony, advertised as stolen from a field at Hanslope, during the night of the 3rd instant, has been found straying at Gayton, Northampton. Information to be given to Inspector Hall, Newport PagnelL Bucks.— Bow- street, May 13. LARCENY AND EMBEZZLEMENT. Absconded on the 21st instant from Oxford- street, stealing J75 in Gold, the money of his father : a youth, 18 years of age, very fair, full eyes; dresses in a black frock coat, yellow trousers, high hat, and side- spring boots, who was sent to bank the money at the London and County Bank, Fleet- street.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, May 24. Description of a militia man of West Kent, who is charged with stealing at Maidstone, on the afternoon of the 18th instant, two white Shirts, ' No. 277,' marked on each, the property of another militia man ; and blue Material for two other Shirts ; a Shawl; a pair of women's new elastic- side Boots; and a red and white Handkerchief. He is 5 feet 10 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and moustache ; gave his address Rose Inn, Deptford, and is making his way to London. Information to be given to the H .,<] Constable. Police Office, Maidstone, Kent— Bow- street, May 22. Absconded on the 17th instant, from Litcham, Norfolk, charged with embezzling 6s. lOid. and other sums of Money : SAMUEL ALDONS, a journeyman butcher, about 35 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, dark complexion, hair, and whiskers; dressed in dark pilot cloth coat or jacket, long blue slop, cord trousers, lace boots, and black chummy hat, 1 very greasy; he has one eye discoloured from a blow. Information to be given to Superintendent Amis, East Dereham, or to Inspecter Murrell, Litcham, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 22. Absconded on the 11th instant, from 91, Great Russel'- steet, Bloomsbury, embezzling various sums of money to the amount of £ 30, the moneys of his employers : a man 27 vears of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, brown hair, reddish beard on chin, well dressed, speaks abruptly, supposed will go to America, last known residence St. Mary's- road, Hornsey.— Metropolitan Police, E Division, May 20. * Absconded on the 8th instant, embezzling the sum of 12s. the mouey of his employer : JEFFERY EDWARDS, a baker, 17 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair hair and complexion, full round face; dressed in moleskin jacket, cord trousers, grey vest, black soft felt hat, and lace- up boots. Friends reside at Wolverton, Hampshire, warrant at Croydon Station. — Metropolitan Police, W Division, May 20. Stolen about 1 p. m. on the 16th instant from a house at Rock Ferry : a mahogany Box, containing a dozen electro- plated dessert Knives and Forks. By a man about 22 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, light complexion, and stout build; dressed in a suit of good black clothes and dark round felt hat. Also stolen between the hours of 1 and 5 p. m. on the 16th instant from a house at Bromborough : a copper Kettle^ brass handle, and holds about a quart. Supposed by a woman, of gipsylike appearance, about 35 years of age, ordi- nary build, sallow complexion and pockpitted; she hawKs, and was accompanied by a boy about 10 years of age. Also stolen between 5 and 8 p. m. on the 16th instant, from the premises of James McClean, Tranmere: five brown- coloured Game Hens. Information to be given to Superin teudent Egerton, County Police Station, Birkenhead Cheshire.— Bow- street, May 20. Absconded on the 29th ultimo, from Aberystwith, Car- diganshire, charged on a warrant with embezzlement : GEO. PARRY, late goods clerk at the Cambrian Railway Station, about 35 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, brown hair, strong red moustache and whiskers of a few weeks' growth, ruddy complexion, walks very erect, and generally with his hands iu his jacket pocket, and of bloated appear- ance ; dressed in a blue cloth monkey jacket, and low- crowned hat ; he is a native of Llanilar, his wife is supposed to be now living with her parents at Chalk Farm, near London, where it is probable Parry may be found. Infor- mation to be given to Superintendent Lloyd, Aberystwith. — Bow- street, May 20. Stolen from the dwelling- house of John Culves, Avles- ford, Kent, on the 13th instant : two pairs of new elastic- side women's Boots ; they were offered in pledge the same dav at Maidstone, by a man about 40 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, and had a very dirty appearance. Information to te given to Superintendent Hulse, Police Court, West Malling Kent.— Bow- street, May 20. 2 POLICE GAZETTE. May 24. Stolen from Walsall ou the 9th ultimo, a chimney sweep- ing Machine, with five new rods aud one old, length 30 feet: by a man, who travels as a sweep and umbrella mender, 15 years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, sandy hair and whiskers, mark upou forehead, broad features, and stout. Information to be given to Chief Constable Cater, Police Office, Walsall, Staffordshire.— Bow- street, May 17. Stolen on the 12th instant, from the house of John Summers, No. 35, New- street, Burton- on- Trent: a white linen Apron, a wnite calico Shirt, a new striped Shirt, a black cloth Cap, a man's corduroy Jacket, and a mat Basket. By a man, who came to lodge there the previous day, and represented he was a coach builder on his way from Lichfield to Derby, 24 years of age, 5 feet 64 inches high, dark hair, and clean shaved ; dressed iu a long black cloth coat, dark trousers, black cap, and white apron. Information to be given to Superintendent Oswell, Burton- on- Trent, Staffordshire— Bow- street, May 15. Absconded from Brook, Somersetshire, charged with embezzling 10s. 74d.> WALTER DODGE, 25 to 28 years of age, about 5 feet 7 inches high, light hair, no whiskers, aud squints ; has a pugilistic appearance. He is a baker, and will probably be found working at his trade in one of the adjoining counties to Somerset. Information to be given to Superintendent Sheppard, Constabulary Office, Wiueanton, Somerset, who holds a warrant for his apprehension and will pay all reasonable expenses.— Bow- street, May 15. Description of Bombardier CHARLES HENRY WATSON, charged with desertion and stealing .£ 26 at Sheerness, ou the evening of the 9th iustant ; he is 27 years of age, 5 feet 11J inches high, dark browu hair, grey eyes, fresh complexion, and broad feat ires; dressed in a suit of dark mixed cloth clothes, and rcund felt hat. Left in company with a woman wearing a red plaid shawl. Information to be given to Superintendent Mayne, Police Court, Sitting- bourne, Kent.— Bow- street, May 15. Stolen from the house of Mr. Wood, of Yearsley, farmer, a pair of strong lace- up Boots, nearly new, with toe and heel plates, soles heavily nailed, aud of medium size, the property of Charles Coates, a servant. By a man who had been in Mr. Wood's service, about 6 weeks, and absconded during the night of the 12th instant: he is 19 or 20 years of age, 5 feet 2 or 3 inches high, fair complexion, much sunburnt, light hair, worn veiy long, tattooed on both arms and breast; dressed in grey cloth coat aud vest, brown cord trousers, blue cloth cap with french peak, and the stolen boots; he is a native of Suffolk, and stated that he had been two years in America. Information to be given to Acting Inspector Nicholson, North Riding Constabulary, Thirsk.— Bow- street, May 15. Stolen on the 6th inst., from Caen awr, Clyro, Radnorshire: an Overcoat, a Coat, Vest, aud Trousers, all nearly new, Oxford mixed cloth, livery, with silver- plated buttons, crest— a lion and three bunches of flowers ( forget- me- not), the property of Hopewell Baker Morrell, Esq. By THOMAS WILLIAMS, a servant, 28 years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, light brown hair aud whiskers round the chin, not very uushy, and pale face ; was seen in Hereford the following day wear- ing the stolen clothes. He has been living in Clyro the last six months, and said his previous situation was near Tenbury, Worcestershire ; has friends living near Abergavenny, fir between there and Newport, Monmouthshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Wheeldon, Penybont, or to Police Constable Sankey, Clyro, near Hay, Radnorshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 13. Stolen on the 6th instant from No. 31, Wakefield- street, Regent square : th'- ee gold rings— one coral, engraved ' Sarah,' one with pearls, and one with garnets ; a Blanket; a Tablecloth ; and several Towels. By a woman, a servant, 65 years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, dark complexion, grey hair ; dressed in a black cloak.— Metropolitan Police, E Vivi- sion, May 13. FELONIES. ( Not otherwise described). Absconded from Bromsgrove, on the 14tli instant, charged with placing stones upon the Midland Railway, at Burcot, in the parish of Bromsgrove, with intent to upset the train: WILLIAM SWIFT, about 20 years of age, 5 feet 6 iuches high, dark hair, fresh complexion, beard growing ou chin, upper lip shaved, is a nailor by trade ; he is generally dressed in a grey jacket, and cord trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Bevan, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, May 20. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATIONS. Description of a man giving the name of GEORGE DENHAM, who is remanded to Hailsham till the 27th inst., charged with stealing Fowls and other Articles : 55 years of age, 5 feet 6| inches high, fresh complexion, has several slight cuts over nose aud eyes, dark grey eyes, dark hail-, bald on top of head, dark brown whiskers turning grey, short thick moustache, stout figure, moles on back, and two cuts on left hand, has been a navvy, and worked in the neighbourhood of Havant; dressed in a very dirty old slop, dirty old waistcoat, blue striped shirt, blue ragged guernsey, dark cord trousers, and old balmoral boots. Information to be given to Superintendent Waghorn, Hailsham, or to the Chief Con- stable's Office, Lewes, Sussex.— Bow- street, May 24. Description of 3 men committed to Northallerton gaol, on the 22nd instant, ueder the Vagrant Act, Smith and Woods, for 6 weeks each, and Hart for 7 days hard labour : WM. SMITH, 26 yrs. of age, 5 ft. 54 ins. high, proportionate build, light brown hair, thin moustache, and tuft on chin, hazel eyes, pale complexion, cut mark on forehead, and wen left eye, mole on left cheek ; dressed in black cloth coat aud vest, moleskin trousers, scotch cap, and strong lace- up boots. He states that he is a native of York, but has for the last two years been tramping and begging. JAMES WOODS, alias HADDOCK, alias GUNNER, 22 years of age, 5 feet If inches high, proportionately built, dark brown hair, grey eyes, blind of the right, thin beard and moustache, very long head ; dressed in brown coat and vest, moleskin trousers, soft black felt hat, all much worn, He says he is a native of Eye, Suffolk. JOHN HART, a moulder, 54 years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, proportionately built, grey hair and eyes, fresh com- plexion, whiskers shaved off, mark on left cheek from a frac- tured jaw bone ; dressed in a brown tweed coat, white jacket underneath, moleskin vest, cord trousers, and skull cap. He says he is a native of Wolverhampton. Information to be given to Inspector Milner, North Riding Constabulary, kirkby Moorside.— Bow- street, May 24. Committed for trial at the ensuing Quarter Sessions, to be held in July next at Northallerton, for larceny : ALFRED DUNHILL, 27 years of age, 5 feet 84 iuches high, sallow complexion, hazel eyes, black hair, proportionate figure ; dressed in dark grey cloth shooting coat, black cloth vest, brown and white striped trousers, blucher boots, aud black felt hat. He says he is a nut hawker, and a native of Scampston, East Riding of Yorkshire, he is known iu the North and East Ridings, also at the large towns, as he fre- quents races, fairs, markets & c. in Yorkshire. Information to be given to Superintendent Metcalfe, Coustabulary Office, Malton, Yorks.— Bow- street, Mayii. Description of three men who are committed for trial at the ensuing quarter sessions for breaking into a dwelling- house at Middle Rasen, on the 10th iustaut and stealing a Ham : ARTHUR BURRELL, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 34 inches high, pale complexion, light brown hair, tuft of light hair on the chin, and blue eyes ; dressed in a blue pilot over- coat, grey cloth vest, fustiau trousers, aud heavy lace- up boots. States he is a native of Horsington, near Horncastle, but has lived at Eston, near Middlesboro', and Rosedale, for the last three years, and is a miner. CHARLES ROBINSON, about 32 years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, fresh complexion, dark hair and whiskers round the chin, ar. d hazel eyes ; dressed in a blue pilot coat, blue velveteen vest, dark striped trousers, black velvet cap, and light lace- up boots. He is a miner, and has worked at Middlesboro', Brutton, Mask, and Eston mines. Aud EDWARD BAXTER, about 31 years of age, 5 feet 3 ins. high, pale complexion, light brown hair, tuft of light hair on the cliln, hazel eyes, and a hole on the light eyebrow, from the kick of a horse : dressed iu a dark rough coat, blue velveteen vest, brown cloth trousers, with broad stripe down the legs, elastic boots, and black billycock hat. He is a miner, and has worked at Skinnergrove and Saltbourne, near Middlesboro', & c. Iuformation to be given to Superintendent Henson, Market Rasen, Lincolnshire.— Bow- street, May 24.
