ESTHER DAVIES, wife of John Davies, of Blaenduad, iu the parish of Conwil Elvet, in the county of Carmarthen, was murdered by some person or persons feloniously shooting her at Blaenduad aforesaid. BURGLARY AOT HOUS,;.. BREAKING. Between 7 30 p. m. 10th and C a. m. on the Ilth instant the warehouses of Mr. Stock No. 1, Messrs. Robinson, No. 2 Mr. Weston, No. 12, Redcliff street. and Mr. Smith, Nos. 137 and 138, Thomas- street, Bristol, was broken and entered, and the following property stolen therein : 1 £ 6 Bank of England Note, No. unknown. 8s. and 9d. in Coppers. £ 2 worth of Id Postage Stamps. A quantity of French and Belgium gold and silver Coins, some the size of a crown piece. 3 gold Chains, one long curb, small pattern, with swiv< 1 broken, one guard ; old pattern, very closely worked, although rough ; one plain made. Description of WORTHY RICH, who is charged with violently assaulting Ralph Butler with intent to murder him, and stealing a £ 10 Note, £ 5 or £ 6 in G Id, and some Silver, at Melksham, on the eveniug of the 5th instant: about 30 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, rather thin figure, dark com- plexion, dark aubuin hair turning grey, little whiskers round the chin ; may be dressed in a rather light mixture dress and old dark billycock hat; has the figure of a sailor on one arm, the crucifixion on the other, and « blue ring on one finger ; he has served as a sailor on boaid H. M. S. Neptune, and may try to get away from some seaport to America, as he has talked of going there. Between 10 a. m. and 3 p. m. on the 3rd instant, the dwelling- house of Thomas Danson, of Adlington, near Maccles- field, was broken into, and the following property stolen therein : a pair of elaBt.' C- side Boots ; a drab Overcoat, lined with plaid ; a pair of watertight Boots, with a piece between the heel and sole ; and a calico Snirt with linen front, neck, and wristbands. Between 8 p. m. on the 30 h ultimo and 8 a. m. on the lst instant, a saddler's shop was broken into, and the following articles stolen : five or six Whips, called Crops and Thongs, 2 feet 6 inches long in the stock, and 3 feet long in the lash, the lash snake pattern, marked ' J.' on the keepers in ink ; a pair of red web Braces, with double ends in front, and marked ' T. Y.' in ink under the buckles; a white web Belt, with straps and buckle ; and a seven ban- d Curry Comb ; the pro- perty of Mr. Bridgwater, saddler, Chirbury. Information to be given to Superintendent Robinson, Cocker- mouth, or at the Offic of the Couuty Chief Constable, Car- lisle.— Bow- street, Dicember 6 & ® RS]£ AND CATTLE STEALING A man of the following description is in custody charged with stealing on the 8th instant, a hay Mare, a Cart, and a set of Harness, which have been recovered, the property of Alfred Cansell, of Sudbury, innkeeper: 38 years of age, about 6 feet 8 inches high, dark browu curly hair, sandy whiskers and moustache, pitted with the small pox ; dressed in a light coloured single breasted overcoat, and has a dark short double- breasted coat underneath, which buttoi s up close to the chin, cord breeches, and light gaiters, with black buttons, spring- side boots, and a black low rouud- crowned hat. Cattle Dealer, Carman tienshire, a bay Mare. ahou' 14$ hands high, 9 years old, three clips on right quarter, rather long tail, in fair condition ; no doubt will be clipped and tail cut. Stolen on the 30th ultimo at Long Ditton, Surrey, a Horse and Cart : horse dark brown Mare, 16 bands high, hind heels whi'e, bushy tail w ite star on forehead, 6 years old; spring cart, chocolate colour, picked out with red, ' Isaac Sheath, Long Ditton, Surrey,' written on shaft, and ' J. S.' on each side. Stolen between 10 a. m. nd 3 p. in on the lllh instaut, from the Black Boy public- house, Upton- on- Severn, the fol- lowing articles, the property of the landlord. Mr. John Willis : a brown mixture cloth Cloak, with grey triniuvngs and large buttons down the front ; a pnir of men's black cloth Trousers, much worn ; a black cloth Vest, much worn ; a Table Cloth, marked ' J. W.' with red cot on ; an imitation Paisley Shawl; a white Shawl with coloured border ; and acalico Shirt clean, has been repair. By a man who lodged in the house the pre- vious night, and stated that Le was a harness collar maker, he is about 35 years of age. 5 teet 9 or 10 inches high, black moustache, no whiskers, and dressed in a long dark cloth coat, dark trousers mended ou the knees, cloth cap, and old shoes ; had with him a frail basket which he said he carried his tools in. Description of CHARLES DONAJOWSKI, who is charged with embezzlement: lie is 19 years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, daik complexion, lot and thin features, without beard or whiskers ; when laBt seen had on a short jacket, blue cloth overcoat, trimmed deeply with astrican on collar and cuffs, and suit of dark grey plaid. Information to be given to Sergeant Varney, Slough, Bucks.— Bow- s: rect, Dccimber 13. Absconded from Billesdon, in the county of Leicester, about the 23rd September last, charged on a warrant with being the bailee of a Watch, the property ot Henry Burrows, and feloniously stealing the same : JOHN STEVENS, a travelling clock anil watch repairer, form, riy of Market Deeping, 50 years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, proportionately made, floiid complexion, brown hair, turi ug grey, whiskers shaved off, tuft of hair ou ch'o, frequents public houses, where he talks freely ; dressed in black cloth coat and vest, brown cloth trousers, stripe down side, and a crape or cloth hat, rather low in the crown, he whole much worn. Absconded from Welshpool on the 9th instant, charged with stealing £ 3 15s. 9d. in Gold and Silver, the monies of David Tannant, of Berriew : ARTHUR GRIMSHAW, alias SPANGO, 19 yenrs of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, fresh coin- plexin, brown hair, hazel eyes prominent mouth, thick lips, irregular upper front teeth, and ia a little deaf; dressed in ft suit of old dark clothes, jimcrow hat, and old lace- up boots ; he goes about public houses singing Information to he given to Superintendent Strefford, or to Police Constable Ellis, Welshpool, Montgomeryshire, who holds a warrant for his apprehension.— Bow- street, Dectmbcr 10. Stolen between 11 and 12 am. on the 3rd instant, from a till at the Prince of Wales Inn, Harwood street. Blackburn, 3s. ( in threepenny and four- penny pieces and some copper), the property of Mr. John Mayo. By two men of the following description : One, RICHARD PICKERING, alias POTTER, 25 years of age, 6 feet 5 inches high, oval face, ruddy complexion, light brown hair, tuft of sandy whiskers ou each side of chin, proportionate make, a blue dot on centre of forehead, two ditto on back of right hand, star and dots on bnck of left hind, two anchors on left arm, lost part uf f juitii ami fifth fingers uf on hand ; dressed in blue pilot, jacket, cotton cord trousers, black billycock hat; is a weaver by trade, aud a native of Blackburn. Was convicted at Salford Sessiocs 24th, August, 1863, and sentenced to 5 years* penal servitude. The other, RICHARD PARKINSON, alas PRESTON DICK, 26 years of age, 5 fee 7 inches high, long face, pr mi- nent forehead and cheekbone, fair complexion, brown curly hair, stout made, an anchor'on back ot oue band, a cut mark Ou forehead ; dressed in a blue pilot j > cket, aud white linen do. under, black billycock liat ; . s a weaver by trade, and a native of Preston. He was convicted at Preston Sessions, 29t. li June, 1864, for coining, and sentenced to 12 months in the House ul Correction ; was also convicted in Yorkshire, and served his punishment in Wakefield Gaol in the name of Richard Preston. These men went into the house before named and ordered some drink, and while the landlady was in the cellar they Stole the money from the bar ; one of them went up stairs and ransacked a bed- room ; Mrs. Mayo saw him come down stairs, she attempted to detain him, when the other man threw her down, and they made their escape. Two men answering their description were seen on their way to Church Parish ; the same men are suspected of committing a similar robbery in Blackburn in August last, also a similar robbery at Livesey, near Blackburn, on the 29th of November last. Stolen on the 2nd instant, from a public- house at Light- ciiffe, £ 68 in Gold, and a common jean Purse, with partition in it. By a house painter who had beeu lodging there a few da>' S, about 35 years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, sallow com- plexion, quick dark eyes, dark hrown hair, no whiskers, small moustache, probably shaved off, and rather prominent nose; dressed when he absconded in light drab felt billycock hat, flat top, bound with brown silk, dark cloth suit, brown over- coat, white muffler with black spots, elastic- sine boots, black necktie, and gold pin in it. The two tramps who were seen with the stolen Coat in their possession are as follows : the first, from 26 to 30 years of age, 6 feet 7 or 8 inches high, stout made, light beaid on chin, aud no whiskers; dressed in brown tweed round jacket, good clean woollen cord trousers, old thin boots cut at big toe joint, and dark cap ; said he was a blacksmith. The 2nd is about same height and age ; dressed in ve veteen jacket, light trousers, and billycock hat. They had a cleaner and better appearance than the generality of tramps. Description of a man charged with felony in York : he is about 48 years of age, about 6 feet 7 inches bigh, fresh com- plexion, dark hair and beard turning grey, rather good look- ing, and of shabby appearance ; dressed in black shooting coat, and high hat; he sells artificial paper flowers, which are made by his wife, who accompanies bim, and is a short middle aged Irishwoman. From a shop door in Victoria- street, between 6 and 6 p. m. on the 9th : 7 yards ot dark slate coloured Witney, had a private mark attached ; the property of Messrs. M. & W. Wilkinson, drapers. From a clothes line in a back yard, 111, Cleaver- street, between 4 and 6 p. m., on the 8th : a boy's linen checked Shirt, plaited down the front, metal buttons, nearly new; the property of Thomas CroSsley.
