He has lived at several places in the couuty of Durham, where he is well known, and has worked at Csstle Eden, Shotton, North Seaton, Spennymoor, Coxon's Long Row, Tow Law, Bishop Auckland, Black. Boy Colliery, Brans- with, and Sunny Brow ; he is a well known poacher, and is supposed to be the same man who fired a gun at a gamekeeper at Castle Eden Dene, on the 4th of Dec., 1866. Stolen from the person of a gentleman on the platform of the Chesterfield Railway Station on the evening of the 26th instant: a silver lever hunting Watch, crack on dial, No. 7968, maker C. W. Drury, Banbury ; and a blue silk knitted Purse, with two steel rings, containing £ 3 in Gold. Information to be given to Chief Superintendent Farndale. Stelen during the night of the 2nd inst, from a dwelling- house in Sandbacb : a small white marble Timepiece, white face, Roman figures ; a Carving Knife and Fork, with white Homoeopathic Medicine Chest, with twenty- four small bottles. Sometime since 4 p. m. the 27th ultimo, a weaving shed was"] entered in the borough of Bolton, and the following property stolen therein : 19 grey toilet Quilts, 54 inches by 48. Description of ALFRED KEATES, who is charged with committing a burglary at Bradford, and for whose appre- hension a warrant has been granted : he is 32 years of age, about 6 feet 10 incnes higb, well built, light br. wn hair, moustache, small whiskers ; has been in a cavalry regiment, and has been a warder at York Castle and Wakefield House of Correction ; it is supposed that he will apply to be admitted into some police force, as he has testimonials for such an ap- pointment from the chaplain of York Castle and from a solicitor of York. When last seen was wearing a large gold sight hunting Watch, keyless, compensation balance, makers Manoah Rhodes and Son, Bradford, No. 197* 6, and a heavy long- linked Chain, with large swiog Seal, the produce of the burglary.
