IVottee.— It Is requested that all communications for the pur- pose of obtaining or giving information respecting supposed offenders, or stolen property, may bettr the Signature of the person requiring or sending the same, and all applications in reference to the POLICE GAZETTE may be made and addressed to Mr. W. D. BURNABY, the Editor, Police Court, Bow- street, London, W. C. Whenever it is desired that any person should be appre- hended, and the name iB given, it is indispensably necessary that an Information should be made and sworn to before a Magistrate, of the offence charged, and an attested copy thereof, together with the Advertisement, forwarded to the Editor for insertion. As no charge is made for the insertion of any article in the i'OLICE GAZETTE, all Letters addressed to the Editor mnil be prepaid, otherwise the insertion will not be made. It is requested that the Names and Descriptions of Deserters and Absentees from tbe Militia, as well as those from tbe regular Army, intended for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, may be addressed to " The Under Secretary of State for War, War Office, Pall Mall, London, S. W.," as they cannot be published without his authority. INFORMATIONS. FORGERY- Further information respecting the Note described as D. 1445, should have been shown as D. 1405, which with one of the other notes mentioned in the Police Gazette of the 29th ultimo, has not yet been recovered ; two men are committed for trial for this offence, and six of the notes found. Informa- tion to be given to the Supeiintendent of Police, Woodbridge, Suffolk.— Bow- street, November 8. Absconded, charged on a warrant with forgery : WM. LINDON, late of 21, Walbrook, and S7, Craven- street, Strand, about 60 years of age, about 6 feet 2 inches high, high shoulders, remarkably short neck, very thin, small dark eyes ( sunken), sharp features, nose and chin pointed, pockpitted, hair cut close at back of head, and of a peculiar brown colour, patched with grey, and grows to a point on forehead, which is low, no beard or moustache, very little whiskers, cut short, very prominent ears; writes with difficulty, his right hand having been slightly paralysed. £ 100 reward. Information to be given to Inspector Bailey, City of London Police, Detective Department, 26, Old Jewry, E. C.- Bow- street, November 3. PURSER AND MALICIOUSLY WOUNDING On the night of the 20th September last, Richard Kellett, of Ledsham, farm labourer, was beaten or kicked on the head and body, from the effects of which he died, and a verdict of ' Wilful Murder' has been returned by the coroner's jury against some person or persona unknown. A reward of £ 100 will be paid by Government to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the discovery and conviction of the murderer or murderers ; and the Secretary of State will advise the grant of Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the aciuai offender, who will give such evidence as shall lead to the like result. Information to be given to Captain McNeill, Chief Constable, West Riding Constabulary, Wakefield, or to Superintendent Wardle, West Riding Constabulary, Selby.— Bow- street, November 5. On the 4th instant, JAMES BURNES, a stonemason, was killed at Salford, and on the 14th the coroner's jury returned a verdict of ' wilful murder against some person or persons unknown.' A warrant has been granted for the appre- hension of two men of the following description : JONATHAN alias JAUNTY EDWARDS, a union brick maker, lately lived in Walter- street, Clowes- street, West Gorton, near Manchester, about 32 years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, stiff build, round red face, sandy whiskers, is very proud, and fond of talking in company ; dressed in black cloth or pepper- and- salt mixture coat, black velvet or green flowered, white ground, washing vest, light woollen cord trousers, patent leather boots, woollen or white calico shirt, 1 with linen fancy frilled front, tall black silk hat, silver watch, and gold plated guard ; is married, has sold up his house, gone, and left his wife behind. This man was notorious in the late Trades Union Inquiry at Manchester. THOMAS, alias TOM EDWARDS, a union brickmaker, brother to the above, lately lived with his mother and brother in Mary- street, Regent- road, Salford, 24 or 26 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, full ted face, swarthy or sallow com- plexion, owing to exposure to the sun, dark cast or look, slight moustache, may have slight downy beard, walks very erect, and has a swaggering gait ; dressed when last seen ( 4th inst.), in working clothes aud heavy navvy boots, such as are worn by brickmakers, but is now supposed to be dressed in dark cloth clothes, and no doubt will bear as respectable an appear- ance as his brother. Most likely thev will be found together, and they may have an ordinary carpet bag with them ; it is supposed that they went away on the 9th instant, and that they will emigrate. A reward of £ 50 will be paid by ller Majesty's Government, and £ 50 by the Corporation of Salford, to any person who will give such information and evidence as shall lead to the appre- hension aud conviction of the murderer or murderers of the said James Burnes; and the Secretary of State for the Home Department will advise the grant ot Her Majesty's gracious pardon to any accomplice, not being the actual murderer, who will give such information as shall lead to that reBult. Information to be given to Captain Torrens, Chief Constable, Salford, or to Superintendent Williams, Detective Department, Town Hall, Salford.— Boto- st., October 29. ARSON AND WILFUL BURNING* On the night of the 3rd instant, some person or persons wilfully and maliciously set fire to, and destroyed some Corn Stacks, at Turweston, Bucks, the property of Henry Holton. £ 100 reward will be paid by Mr. Holton to any person giving such information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offender or offenders. Information to be given to Superintendent Shepherd, Steeple Claydon, or to Inspector Andrews, Maidsmoreton, Buckinghamshire.— street, November 8. ROBBERY AND LARCENY FROM THE PERSON- Stolen from the person of James Harris, at Marlow Fair, on the 29th ultimo, a silver lever hunting Watch, engine- fumed case, maker Hall, Mount- street. London, No. 7755, has ' J. H.' scratched inside. Information to be given to Inspector Clear, Great Marlow, Bucks.— Bow- ureet, November 3. BURGLARY AND HOUSB BREAKING. On the night of the 4th instant, the vicarage of Mepper- shall. Beds, was burglariously broken into by means of cutting a bole through a shutter of a window, and stolen therein, the property of the Rev. John Henry Howlett: £ 4 or £ 5 in Silver, and about 16s. in Copper. 1 Cruet Stand, Tops of mustaid pot and pepper box, and a Mustard Spoon, all silver, and marked ' J. M. H.' 1 silver Top of an Inkstand, with a small candlestick on it, marked with a cross crosslet. 1 very old Watch, with dark blue enamel back, and white face. 1 gold Seal, with a bloodstone, engraved with a coat- of- arms, surmounted by a cross crotslet, and having the motto—' Fide et vigilantia.' 1 gold Seal, with a stone engraved with a cross crosslet, encircled with the motto ' Fide et vigilantia.' 1 gold Seal, with an amethyst stone, engraved with the letters ' J. H. H.' in old English. 1 gold Seal, with an amethyst stone, engraved with the head of Socrates. Supposed by two men who were seen about the neighbourhood on the 4th instant : one about 35 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, dark complexion, little or no whiskers, and walks very badly ; dressed in dark coat and trousers, soft billycock hat, and light boots : the other about 35 years of age, 5 feet 4 or 5 inches high, sandy whiskers, and slight moustache ; dressed in dark coat and trousers, Scotch cap, and a large scarf round his neck. Information to be given to Sergeant Bransom, Shefford, or to Superintendent Smith, Biggleswade, Beds.— Bou>- sireet, November 8. During the night of the 6th instant, the shop of Mr. John Burridge, of Steventon, Berks, was broken open aud the follow- ing articles stolen therein : a box containing a quantity of cheap Jewellery, consisting of Brooches, Ear- rings, gentlemen's Breastpins of various descriptions, ladies' back Combs for the hair, and about 3 dozen ladies' and servants' dress Caps. Supposed by a man of the following description : about 30 yeara ot age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, light complexion, light hair and whiskers, thin face, rather long nose, and looks ill; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, high crowned hat, and old boots ; of genteel shabby appearance. Carries a box, about 15 inches square, with a strap over his shoulder, and hawks cheap jewellery ; he had only a few articles in his box when he called at Mr. Burridge's at 12 noon on the day of the robbery. Information to be given to Superintendent Hedger, Berks Constabulary, Abingdon.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen from a cottage at St. Ives, Ringwood, on the 27th ultimo, by means of housebreaking, the property of William Byles : an old- fashioned silver Watch, with bull's- eye glass, maker Solomon Keyman, Sarum, No. 285, steel Chain and two Keys attached. Supposed by tramps. Information to be given to Superintendent Stephenson, Hants Constabulary, Ringwood.— Bow- street, November 5. On the morning of the 3rd instant, two shops in the market at Cardiff were broken into, and stolen therein ( sup- posed by tramps): two red Welsh flannel Shirts, two pairs of black and white ditto Drawers, several pieces of black and white ditto for aprons, about three dozen pocket Knives ( black and white bone handles), a number of plated Brooches, imita- tion jet Ear- drops, Combs, and plated Pins, two or three metal Teapots, and four glass Decanters. Information to be given to Superintendent Stockdale, Cardiff, Glamorganshire.— Bow- street, November 5. The dwelling- house of Charles Noon, Esq., of Stoney- gate, near Leicester, was feloniously entered about 7° 30 p. m. on the 2nd instant, and tbe following property stolen therein : 1 gentleman's large gold levee Watch. engine turned back, gold dial, maker Wm. Simcock, Warrington, No, 80063. 1 Brooch and Ear- rings, set with aquamarine stones. 1 pair of gold Ear- rings, with fringe. 1 pair of handsome gold chain Bracelets, with Lockets attached, topaz and aquamarine stones. 1 large gold Brooch, with portrait of Mr. Noon. 1 silver Fruit Knife, marked ' C. Noon.' 1 gold Chatelaine, with book Locket attached, with portraits, also gold Seal and Key. 1 gold Pendant for gentleman's watch chain, horse and foal in gold, stone for seal. 1 small gold Brooch green enamel figur. 1 large blue Necklace and Comb. 1 small tortoiseshell Comb. 1 gentleman's diamond Ring and Keeper. 2 black Chains. 1 large gold Brooch and Pendant, set with topaz atones, 1 turqoise Ring, with five stones. 1 gentleman's scarf Pin, plain gold, tied as a bow, 1 pair of jet Ear- rings, set with crystals. 1 pair of diamond Ear rings. 1 black medallion Brooch, set round with steel. 1 set of giTd and black Studs. £ 0 in Gold. Information to be given to Superintendent Burdett, Aylestone, near Leicester, or at the Chief Constable's Office, Leicester.— Bow- street, November 5. • » The house of Mr. J. Worthington, No. 13, Mollart- street, Hanley, Staffordshire, was burglariously^ entered during the night of the 3rd instant, and the following property stolen therein : a brown silk Umbrella : a woman's grey Cloak; a woman's Cloak, mingled mixture stuff; a dark cloth Jacket, very thick ; a pair of men's elastic side ( Boots; an Overcoat; a woollen Shirt ; a woollen Muffler ; a lady's velvet Jacket; and a pair of grey mixture Trousers. Information to be given to Superintendent Baker, Constabulary Office, Hanley, or at any Police Station in the county of Stafford,— Bow- street, November 5. Between 11 p. m. on the 2nd inafant 7 a. m on the 3rd the dwelling- house of the Rev. Mr. Fernie, of Yelden, was burglariously broken into and entered through a window, and the following articles stolen therein : a Musical Snuff Box; two pairs of Sugar Tongs ; a Tea Spoon ; a mustard Spoon; and a wine Strainer ; all silver ; and 6 or 7s. in Silver. Sus- picion is attached to two men of the following description: one about 30 years of t> ge, 5 feet 10 inches high, thin and swarthy appearance ; dressed in dark frock coat, buttoned close up to the neck, grey trousers and cap ; pretended to be an umbrella mender; the other about 5 feet 4 inches high ; dressed in dark clothes and large scarf round his neck. They were traced to Northampton ne* t day. Information to be given to Superintendent Carruthers, Sharnbrook, Beds.— Bow- street, November 5. & OR& 4, AND UAmia STEALING. Stolen on the 31st ult. from a field at Upper Tooting : a chesnut horse Pony, 4 years old, 12 hands high, in good condi- tion, was last seen at 6* 15 a. m. on the lst instant going in the direction of Mitchum, in the possession of two boys, one 15 years of age, short and stout ; dressed in dark clothes ; the other 14 years of age; dressed in light coat or slop.— Metropo- litan Police, V Division, Nov mber 8. Stolen from a field at Belleisle, Richmond, Yorkshire, on the 2nd instant, a valuable red and white coloured milk Cow, 4 years old, the property of Mr. James Watson, trainer, of Belleisle, Informatiou to be given to Superintendent Peacock, Richmond, Yorkshire.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen from the Dolphin Hotel Stables, Petersfield, the pro- perty of Mr. Robert Crafts, on the night of the 6th or early on the 6th instant, a roau- coloured Cob, 5 years old, about 14 bands high, in good condition, black stripe across the shoulders and down the back, black mane and tail; also a Saddle and Bridle. Supposed by a mau 34 years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fresh complexion, summer- freckled face and hands, brown hair, sandy whiskers, has tbe appearance of a hard drinker, and of middie stature; dressed iu a light coloured coat, light cord trousers, lace- up boots, and an old dark soft crowned hat. He was traced through Guildford on the morning of the 6th with tbe stolen Horse in bis possession. Information to be given to Superintendent Bennett, Hants Constabulary, Petersfield.— Bcv- street, November 8. Further information respecting the Horse stolen from Btough Hill Fair, Westmoreland, 011 the 30th September last, and advertised iu the Police Gazette of the 13th ultimo, and subsequent dates, and the two men who stole it: tbey belong to York, and go theie occasionally, one of them passes by the name of SHEEPY, and the name of the other is supposed to be HANSON ; they offered the horse for sale at York, on the 2nd ultimo, left with it on the 4th, were seen with it near Selby on the 6th ultimo, and are supposed to have taken it into Lincolnshire or Nottinghamshire aud sold it. Information to be given to Superintendent Parks, Appleby, Westmoreland, or at thr County Chief Constable's Office, Carlisle.— Bow- street, November 8. Stolen during the night of the 4tb instant, from a field at Fazeley, the property f Edward Barratt, of Fazeley, an iron grey cart Mare, about 16 hands high, 5 years old, short mane and tail, in good condition. Stolen fnm Darlaston, Staffordshire, about the 29th ultimo, the properties of Thomas Rogers and Richard Foster, of Darlaston, two Ponies of the following description : one a bay horse Pony, aged, about 13 hands high, with a little hair offthe near fore knee ; the other is a dark brown mare Pony, about 12 hands high, brauded with the letters ' M D ' on the near side. Found in Shiffnal, on the 27th ultimo ( supposed to have been stolen), a chesnut mare Colt, about 14 bands high with a white stripe down the face and ihe near hind foot wtiite ; also a little dark brown mare Colt. Both ahout a years old. The pony is a brown mare, about 12 hands high, branded with * W.' on near haunch, and Broken knees. The cart is such as is used by fishmongers, with ' Wm. Richman,' pain ed on side. Further information of the Horse stolen from a field at Doughton, in the parish of Tetbury, during the night of tile 19th ultimo ( advertised in the Police Gazette of the 27th uit.) . a dark bay cart Mare, 5 years old, fioui 15 to 1( 5 hands high in good condition, long black mane ai d tail, a little boirchated off the near shou der and side the size of a crown- piece, and slight sand crack iu the mar heel, the property of Mr. George Giles, farmer, of Tetbury. 0. i the morning of the 20th u! t, a man of the following description was seen near Cowage Farm, in the parish of Wickwar. riding the stolen mare in the direc- tion of the New Passage for South Wales: 40 years of age, 5 feet 7 or 8 inches high, broad red face, large flat nose, and dark whiskers ; dressed ia a dirty brown smock frock coat, dirty cord trousers, heavy navvy boots, and black bowler hat. .£ 2 reward will be paid on his conviction and recovery of the mare. Stolen from a stable at Broad Lees Farm. near Dover, between 7 p. m. 2nd and G a. m. on the 3id instant, a dark brown cob Mare, 10 years old, 12 bands high, rough coat, in fair condition, tnrns one hind foot cut, girth marked; an old Bridle and Saddle; and a soldier's old great Coat, a red, white and blue striped silk Neckerchief in pocket Suppled by a discharged soldier, who has recently worked on the farm, about 27 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fair complexion, r. o whiskers ; dressed in an old blue clotlh co t, no vest, grey cloth trousers, blucher boots, and may I e wearing the stolen coat. The horse passed through Crabble Gate, near Dover, on the morning of the 3rd iDstant, rode by a person wearing an over- coat, and going towards Canterbury. About. 6 p. m. on the 1st instant the driver of Her Ma- jesty's Mail Cart, which runs het veen Wombwell and Barnsley, was attacked near Wombwell Wood by four men, who dragged the driver out of the cart and then decamped with the three Letter Bags and their contents. Two of the bags were shortly afterwards found in a field near to, not having been broken open, the third one and its contents still missing. £ 20 reward will be paid to any persun who will give Buch information as shall lead to the apprehension and conviction of the offenders.
